I agree there is a potential threat that single men will be scapegoated for all society’s ills. When things go wrong, people tend to look for scapegoats. And no doubt there is a lot of resentment towards single men, from both women and from men with families who view single men as shirkers who are not shouldering their share of the burden. Indeed, it was only fairly recently that David Cameron was calling for greater social condemnation of absent fathers.
