Basically the black bitch has been dismantled for at least 7 years now, which it has to be said is the only thing that saved it from being sold, 7+ years ago I decided it needed a rebuilt so tore it down, and you can imagine the rest.

There is NO wiring of any kind, so I have a new battery, new ignitech ignition module, new ignitech coils, so just cleaning and rebuilding the carbs, put them on, try and start the bitch, if that goes well then make and finish the wiring loom, decide whether to go for a bigger tank or re-do the old one, get some lights front and rear, new final drive chain, fluids and filters, clean up the alloy etc and make it look presentable, then get it licenced again.

So, project to get done by summer hopefully.

The black bitch has been slowly evolving for many years, and I dislike the term “custom bike”… all bikes should be “personalised” or “bespoke”, and ideally suited to their owner and no-one else.

In a previous iteration about 9 years ago she looked like this

I completely cleaned (most) of the cosmolene out of my new mosin nagant, and she feels almost new.

I call her a she not because shes reliable, but because it takes work and ownership to make her reliable ;).

I guess this means you are getting close to finishing your custom bike build?

I use this technique to clean grotty 3 piece wheel centres as well. My mother did not like me cooking car parts on her stove and heating car parts in her oven…

Don’t forget the air compressor to blow everything out THOROUGHLY afterwards.

(In extremis a butane lighter refill can will do the same job.)

Boiling water is 100’C so it is incapable of damaging anything in a carb, but notes I did remove everything inc jets and slides and diaphragms etc.

It will get rid of all gunk and shit and varnish and so on, it won’t get rid of cooked in carbon, hence the toothbrush and patience.

Boiling up engine parts on the cooker also allows you to sit back and bask in the awe with which all married and cohabiting men feel for you, and of course all the co-habiting wimminz who wish their niggerz were more like you…lol

Need to order overhaul parts for the carbs on my XRV750 one day. It’s a ’98 with 70,000 miles so the diaphragms and floats are probably going to go soon

What do you ride?
