“Cisco has warned Unified Communications installations can be remotely hijacked by miscreants, thanks, thanks to a hardwired SSH private key.”

So I decided to take the plunge and installed it on my new PC I recently built. It runs just fine on modern hardware with a good SSD. Initially I struggled with figuring out the interface until I opened a browser and started googling shit, and eventually switched to the desktop view being the default. My only complaint about the new windows is that with the introduction of apps it seems that they have bifurcated user programs into two somewhat exclusive groups. For example, when I run an app from the app screen ( or whatever the hell they call it) you don’t see it in the task bar if you decide to switch over to a program in the desktop. It makes switching between apps and desktop programs more troublesome than it needs to be.

I also ran into an issue with the Skype app where I wanted to voice chat with a friend while we played a video game together. Problem was, voice communications would stop after I switched over to the game, until I was able to switch back. I ended up uninstalling the Skype App and reinstalling Skype as a desktop program, which solved the problem. But all these glitches are relatively minor, and if I really get sick of it I can reboot into Ubuntu anyways. Dual boot FTW…
