Bah don´t get me started on Alexandria.
If life were like the game Civilization then the Ork players found, looted and burned Alexandria.
Which made then barely get out of the Stoneage to spend the rest of the time building militias and killing, looting and raping everything else until the “real” rape&murder Mongol masters showed up.

Speaking of the Chinese:

A few years ago, let’s say 2009, 2 men were stopped crossing into Switzerland with US bonds from the 1930s and 60s that had a face value in the $hundreds of billions. They were arrested and charged with counterfeiting, but mysteriously, the two were released and the Italian police gave no further comment. In 2011, a lawsuit was launched in the Southern District of New York regarding the same bonds. The docket can be found online.

Apparently the bonds were created during WW2 in anticipation of the Japanese invasion of China. China leased its massive gold reserves to the US for safekeeping in return for the bonds. Including interest, the bonds seized a few years back are alleged to be worth roughly $1 trillion. Apparently the seized bonds are only 2-3% of the total bond portfolio. Re-read those last 2 sentences.
