one serious problem i’ve noticed is that we’ve confused the concept of ‘money’ with the concept of ‘wealth’.

money, practically speaking, is nothing more than a barter lubricant. especially with modern fiat, debt based money creation, the monetary unit itself is completely decoupled from reality.

allow me to demonstrate, you’d like cash on the barrel before you accept the job? sure, i’d be happy to pay you one TREEELION dollars. hang on a second while i dig in my stash of Zimbabwean currency.

thinking on it, i would describe “wealth” as useful production in excess of that necessary to meet the Needs of the population. this can then be diverted to satisfying Wants.

what we’ve decided to do instead is to finance our Wants with Debt, while outsourcing all of our Capital to … a Communist nation?

It can’t just be age. I haven’t hit my thirties yet and feel shades of what you’ve described. Years back I used to go to the pub on the weekends, but now I figure, what’s the point? Buying overpriced booze to be near people I want nothing to do with. Obese, entitled cunts, shills for Hitlery, and people with an overall delusional grasp on reality. Damn, if you want me to participate, give me SOME incentive.

I’m happy enough reading books, discussing with sane people online, pursuing hobbies, doing my thing. I’ll be traveling the world soon, spending my life savings before they get Weimar’d. There are good people out there, but sometimes it requires leaving the open air prison to find them. Life is good, life is good.
