ICE cars are a terrible idea with a lot of engineering problems that are much easier to solve in electric cars (e.g. just think about heat, vibration, the transmission). Plus they turn poisonous fuel into poisonous emissions.
What makes ICE win is that their fuel is very energy dense and light, and thus easily distributed, and very cheap. When the fuel stops being cheap, or the poisoning becomes too much, goodbye ICE.
Put another way, we only use ICE because of the huge windfall of being able to pump out free fuel out of huge underground tanks that have been there for hundreds of millions of years.

I remember your other articles. and what the people who sell real trucks for real businesses do, and Toyota are looking at fuel cells instead:

Still electric, but does not have the idiot idea of carrying heavy, short-life, batteries.
The issue is of course the hydrogen supply, which is technically difficult, but as the blogger has said trucks have the big advantage that they go from garage to garage, so it is easier to equip specific garages than a whole country.

So true. Ive always argued that electric cars are never going to be a better option than ICE ones. My mistake was using physics, cost, and logic to make this assumption while ignoring the 9000lb gorilla in the room- the state. If it gives them more control over the individual, electric cars will become mandatory and ICE cars (“terrorist vehicles”?) will be outlawed.

i don’t know what is happening over on your side of the pond, but here in ‘merica they are already working on the legal framework to outlaw the internal combustion engine. mandatory is how we are going electric. physics, facts and reason don’t matter. what isn’t forbidden in mandatory.
