Disappointed for Syria national soccer team … after a brilliant hard fought and well defended match … that went to extra time in Sydney last night — score Australia 2, Syria 1.
I was even prepared to be unpatriotic as I really wanted Syria to win their dream and stand proud in Russia for World Cup.
Some sweet irony.. for the first time since 1986 the USa missed out too.
They will be disappointed because now they won’t be able to make their symbolic boycott.

My literary friends have been adopted by 3 black male kittens whose mother raised them kindly. These are no rescue cats. Relax Dennis. They come and go as they please. Sounds as if „the whole regione was electronically mined during that period“ instead of applying one stroke during a moment… hm. And why Russia‘s verdict „bad weather and bad pilots“? It is *not* yet final, so we‘ll see later.
I am interested in Chinese, too, perhaps for learning serenity… Yesterday I was in our zoo and saw the huge new Chinesely styled section for our two brand new pandas… who were already inside, watching CN TV probably.

Hello all,
I just got off the phone with my Orthodox friend. He was talking for some reason about the film “Matilda” and the opposition to it. Like him, I hope the film can be banned in Russia, but this is not because of my political views, just because the chief opponent of the film is Natalia Poklonskaya who I think is the single most beautiful woman in the world.
He said that the film was an example of the “sin of Ham”. I do not know Russian so I don’t know the word he is referring to, but basically, just as Ham had a bad instinct and publicized the shame of his father, so too do us sinners try to look for the source of evil in our fathers rather than in ourselves. And this is a sin, because to rebel against one’s father is to rebel against God the Father.
What a different attitude from the American left who are ashamed of their fathers and want to pull down their statues. Indeed, such leftists often have many more transgressions than the secular military and political leaders who built the country they stand on. But tell that to people who feel personally aggrieved by the existence of Robert E. Lee Elementary School.
I do not like the genocidal spirit of Columbus and I love to celebrate the heritage of native Americans, but this conversation got me thinking twice about Columbus Day.

Here is my first hand report from the northern California fires.
The fires are occurring in what is called “The Wine Country” – a tri-county area which is famous for wine production and is now a fiery inferno. There are currently 17 fires burning, about 25,000 acres per fire, and there is no containment yet. Our town is momentarily a safe little haven- the fires are 30 miles north, 20 miles south and 20 miles east of us.
There was no warning of this when we went to bed Sunday night. People had to flee in the middle of the night with no time to take anything with them as the fires raced through populated areas. Santa Rosa is our nearest small city about 20 miles away. It is a mostly working class town with a large low-wage Latino population. They are experiencing an ‘urban wildfire’. Several mobile home parks, a shopping center, and over 500 homes burned to the ground. A nearby small historic town and many wineries have been completely destroyed. They are reporting that 20,000 have been evacuated and 3000 structures have been destroyed so far. Much of the area is still without power. Shelters are full. Businesses, schools, even banks are closed. Harvest workers are being sent home. The grape harvest that was underway is suspended. The remainder of the harvest will be unusable. Supplies in stores are low. The sky is gloomy with heavy smoke containing high levels of toxicity. Further mandatory evacuations are still being ordered as the fires spread to new areas.
The exact cause of the fires is not known, but it is assumed that it was caused by a sparking power line. The whole terrain here is tinder dry, which is very typical for our area at the end of summer, but because we had a record wet winter the spring and early summer undergrowth was prolific. This was followed by the most extreme hot dry summer on record so all that earlier growth became dry tinder. The fires were also accelerated by hot, dry seasonal winds known as ‘the Diablo’, which caused the fires to spread catastrophically fast.
On Wednesday fires are still active, and firefighters are exhausted after three days. The air quality casts an eerie florescent glow over the sun and moon. We can’t go outdoors for the third day. And there is an unfortunate forecast of more hot dry winds near 50mph, which can scatter embers further, or take down more power lines. The winds will come from the north so we are in potential danger, and are prepared to evacuate.
Several of our friends and co-workers have lost their homes and property and in general people are very anxious. I am able to remain calm. I humbly accept that many people worldwide have experienced similar and far worse circumstances. It seems that one way or another we have to come to understand that we are one humanity, and we will continue to suffer until we accept that another’s suffering is also our own.

PS As a respite from being indoors for two days we ventured to the coast yesterday. We could hardly see the road signs on the highway through the smoke. But the wind was blowing off shore and there was no smoke. In the midst of the madness we took a long invigorating barefoot walk on the beach. We took the back roads home and saw three golden eagles who apparently had taken the same respite from their smoky domains. We watched them majestically perched on the power lines surveying over the landscape like royal emperors. I saw one shaking his head- perhaps commenting on yet more human folly.
I too live in the area. I am away from home at the moment and won’t be able to get home for a few more weeks. I can only pray that the people and animals can safely be evacuated. My son has been evacuated from his southern California home. Unfortunately California is always a tinder box this time of year.

Thank-you ioan and Phil. I am not worried for myself- I feel strong and have an inner certainty that we will be okay. We are making preparations to leave if we need to, and we have several comfy places we can go.
I agree that extreme weather events and natural disasters are being geo engineered. The chemtrail spraying here this summer was extreme and really abominable. I work outside and many times had to come indoors because I could not take it. Yesterday at the coast where there was no smoke we could see continued heavy spraying as the video link you gave also mentioned. I wasn’t aware of that particular site so thank-you.

Big development in the Catalan crisis. The Madrid government has responded by (finally!!) calling the independentist’s bluff in two ways.
1st a request to Puigdemont to clarify whether or not he declared independence on Oct 10. This is necessary because the weasel language is couched in so much ambiguity and vagely tacit rather than explicit statemts as befit a Declaration, that most people didn’t know in what part of his speech had he declared independence in order to “suspend” it.
If he replies that he has indeed declared independence, then he has a few days to rectify this by cancelling (not just suspending) such declaration. If he doesn’t, Article 155 will be activated, which will in theory suspend the Catalan autonomy.
2nd an even more surprising message from Madrid is that they’ve agreed to initiate steps for a Constitutional amendment that will allow this kind of referendum to take place. Which means no more of this “it’s illegal” mantra. They’ve agreed to make it legal. But of course this will then entail negotiations about the terms of the referendum to be held, and perhaps the adoption of some legal framework along the lines of something like Canada’s Clarity Act to establish the conditions and implications of the referendum.
This blows the independentists strategy of increasing provocation to try to create international outrage when Madrid reacted too forcibly, while simultanously asking for negotiation, only to be told that the referendum is illegal. Madrid has agreed to make it legal through the only channel legally available: a constitutional amendment that can only be issued by Parliament.

The train trip of 2200+ miles from LA to the Windy City was a grand learning experience, but not without serious attacks upon me by the Empire, so severe that, I’m ashamed to say, I had to cut and run, and cower and hide, to get away from my inner firestorm battle.
I first came here to the cafe, before checking the new articles or my own email. I’ve only gotten a short way into the nearly 100 comments; I’ll get to the rest and the articles later.
I slept good last night. Thought of you but no dreams that I can recall. Michael made buckwheat cereal, at my suggestion. He had a package that had, I think, Russian letters. Russians are big on buckwheat. Later, I fried the porridge into pancakes, but with no flour, they were less tasty. Tomorrow, at the marsh in Wisconsin, we’ll have buttermilk buckwheat pancakes like great Grandma used to make, saints preserve her soul.
On the train, I went off my raw diet, but adhered to vegan standards of no milk, cheese, butter, eggs and meat. I’m not a purist, however, and so tomorrow will give in to buttermilk, as I did here with Michael, and my nephew’s bit of butter this am.
When I left the Ventura station for Union Station LA, there was a glitch that worked to my advantage, thanks to the Love Army. I “accidentally” purchased a business seat. An attendant pointed this out and I switched from coach car to business car.
On the ride to LA, I got a package of goodies and a wider chair. I didn’t touch the fake food, but enjoyed the comfy chair. At LAX, I got the red carpet treatment: free red cap ride to the Metropolitan Lounge, where there was more comfort, in TV, snacks, magazines and an attendant, trained to please those with a little more money than commoners, which I was up until then. I was happy, since I had a three hour layover.
I walked out to the front of Union Station, where there was a flow of middle class and homeless, and a trio of idealist missionaries to the real street types, as well as to the comfortables. I felt uneasy but familiar too, since I was once homeless, living in the woods and using shelters myself. But I always had my motor home parked on some street or other, which I took to the parks during the day. Anyway, I was business class for a day. A cut above commoners, but far below the likes of Trump.
From that fine experience, I chose business class for my return ticket, for $12. I don’t have a phone but now I can go the Metropolitan Lounge if I need one. Oh, the comforts of the comfortably wealthy. It ain’t healthy but it beats the street.
I am well taken care of these days by the Love Government, Army, Bower, Vineyard and Cafe. I was chiding the Love Army commander this morning in bed, awaking at 4:44. I was still smarting from my train wounds when I went off track. Says I to he: “What in the hell are you doing to stop the empire’s war on Russia?”
There was an uncomfortable pause, but my answer came soon enough. The army commander gave me a new character for my novel, Love and War. I was reading my hard copy on the train, preparing for another round of inspiration, I hoped, at the marsh, where I wrote the first nineteen chapters last Christmas. Thirteen of the nineteen, are published here, somewhere back in the archives.
The new character, given to me by the current love army commander, is Commander in Chief of the Love Army, one General Dionysus James. How nice, since Dennis derives from Dionysus and James is my middle name, from my father, James. No projection there, mind you. So General James will now appear along with the other characters.
Michael left for work, leaving the house and computer to me. Later, his ex Chinese wife will join us at a Chinese restaurant, prior to our four hour car trek to Wisconsin. Should I ask her about Chinese politics? Probably not, since she’s such a sweet person. Once again, I’ll go off my raw diet but I need to anyway as the cold winter winds blow on my thin frame of bones and cartilage. But cafe chinese waitress, no meat, if you please.

Syria and soccer leads off. Soccer in Russia next year will be geo-political soccer, worthy of a world cup. I hope Russia does not run from battle, even if it has to start its own multi-polar olympics.
teranam, now I am more relaxed, thanks to your reassurance. The brothers Catamanovs and Kittenmanovs sound cute, but watch out if they change from cat friends to catty familiars of the worst sort. I live near pet lovers here at our community, and see firsthand what pethood does to them.
People think they need pets in this pet cult of a culture we inhabit, and perhaps they do, due to love deprivation. However, no matter how you slice a sausage, it’s still sausage. And who is to say that the forest fires we suffer are not more karmic heat for the sausages.
A friend and co-resident here, last week asked me to feed his dog, while the resident was gone. It’s not something I ever do, even for Apolonia, but I did it for a friend. I opened a can of dog food, and put it in a bowl that had dog dry cereal in it. The smell was disgusting, and the ideology behind it even more so. Animal slaughter to feed human animal neuroses.
J.L.Seagull speaks of a Ham movie, fathers and Columbus; and their patriarchal sins. In my estimation, a hungry and unholy trinity of public enemy # 1.
Anonymous counters with a list of imaginary gods. What an extensive list. Only one of a hundred mentioned gods and goddesses of love, which had its own top 100, not one of which was Christian, except God with a capital G. None came even close to mentioning Saint John’s “God is Love” theology, my favorite loverology meme.
I could spend a year, mulling over these lists. Thanks for the link. I want to develop a love theology, here at this cafe, focusing on men, fathers and God the Father. With this trinity, depends our survival as a species. Men created this hell of a mess, and they have to lead us out of the new Egypt to the promised land.
I did click on the Roman goddess, Venus. I feature Venus in my work, through the Tarot deck Venus, the Empress. Venus is born in foam on a sea conch, nicely sexual and conch-ious, conscious, unconscious and lovscious. Jung is stirring in his grave, and mundanomaniac has a grave expression at my freedom of expression.
Next to Sagittarius, Venus and Mars are my favorites. Apolonia, my ex, and flaming Leo, is Apollo to my Dionysus, by direct and indirect proportions. Add to this, that Lady Gaga sings a song called Venus, and you can get my drift.
J.L.Seagull asks anon: “who is the one imagining?” This leads to very interesting questions, right up my alley, from vot tak, JJ and others on the probability of God, according to math, which is basically zero, or to tenth to the minus 36th degree.
This leads to replies from mundanomaniac and others. I love this line of questioning, as an antidote to our anti-war efforts. Personally, I need to wade carefully into these murky and mystic waters of theology, philosophy, psychology and otherology, like the two slit experiment that seems to require human observation for epistemology.
I do believe in God, but am leery of the God of War and Patriarchy; while hopeful that the God of Love will join the Love Army in its restoration of the love culture here on planet Earth, in my lifetime, which I hope extends to 100, and 101 for good measue.
In sum, I’m glad to be back in the vineyard bower, where I belong, once I get past the rosy thorns and prickly pears, not to mention Russian bears. Please bear with me, those happy few, now perhaps down to one or two, who read between the lines of what I write.
On the train trip, we did pass through Dodge City, but it was at night, so I missed seeing Chief Tomah board and greet the Ojai Indian maiden on board. But I’ll see them in my dreams and daydreams at the marsh near Tomah, Wisconsin.
It’s approaching high noon here in the heartland, but I can’t see the fun sun, due to the sad rain, but I know she’s there in the high air. Oh, that we had more of the gentle Irish rain in California. In the mountains, we went through some long tunnels of love. And at night, there was a beautiful golden half moon accompanying us over the flat deserts; which reminded me of some of you, like submarines in the desert.
I’m looking forward to reading the articles and the rest of the comments, to further my remedial education. But for now, I want to check in at yahoo for brief fake news and any emails I might have.
