Welcome to the ‘Moveable Feast Cafe’. The ‘Moveable Feast’ is an open thread where readers can post wide ranging observations, articles, rants, off topic and have animate discussions of the issues of the day.
The ‘Moveable Feast Cafe’ will have two new open threads each week.
The Saker stated moderation policy will apply eg ‘no caps’, no obscenity … etc to all post.
The Cafe is now open for business … come on in and have a good time.
Saker Webmaster
A somewhat ambiguous announcement from the Saker, but hard times require difficult decisions, familiar human dilemma expression though, interesting…
I appreciate the honesty of Saker, but further moderation rules, well, that’s way beyond a joke, That sounds harsh, but try looking at the reader, who already has to edit, circumnavigate, and variously adapt comments to meet these. Perhaps more trust would help to rule ?
Life and comments will continue to get watered down, routine, repetitive, frustration growing on the one hand, cheap artificial ways of expressing positivity on the other. All of which are precisely what the MSM and the forces of evil desire. Growth and change way to go.
If Saker wishes to express confidence in his unique work and vision, then there is a choice, either gather all those thinking, caring, praying, paying people around who matter, who will help make the difference in ways yet undreamed of, or follow the scripted path. To continue cutting back, minimising risk, I fear will be regretted, sure as the stars shine at night and the sun during the day.
Why not move from the USA, drastic, impossible to imagine? So also for a man’s spirit not to follow his destiny.
These are very dangerous times my friend.
It is an information war as much as a kinetic war.
The minute I read the latest sanctions. Especially South Front.
I wondered. And wondered if Saker could see…..
So I am not surprised.
And of course. Saker is as astute as we have come to respect.
Be safe Saker.
White Whale, thank you for calling me your friend! But “a friend in need is a friend in-deed”, and the Saker, in the particular situation he is, may also be similar to others, is best served by wide angle options overview.
Saker being astute is a given, but being close-up to surrounding problems is another thing, think lateral ; )
Freedom is the gift of the free thinking adult if opinions are shared.
Be well friend !
Pardon, but did Saker say that it was his decision, or did he say that he had no choice?
War is very hard. In some ways war consists of the lack of choice…
I would like to see (by some celestial magic) Steve Allen interview Sophie Scholl’s ghost, Comrade Texas, Qaddafi, and Trotsky with Stalin and Putin at Steve’s dacha. Hitler could drop in for beer. And the group might watch coverage of this war, and kibitz. (see https://youtu.be/hKRxZSOqAYw for example of genre)
They say that the Summer of 1939 was the most beautiful in many years.
We are having an especially beautiful Spring here in Anoxia by the River. New hives, expanded gardens, baby chickens a-peeping as the old guy types. There is no “extra” violence here, no mask “requirement” enforced, and everybody knows about the coup, the fraud. If their lordships were under arrest there might be joy…
I bet “somebody” knows that.
We, the readers, have little invested here other than our time and comradery, and yes some have more time to invest than others….life is like that, but the Saker and his group of volunteers have invested years of extreme mental effort, to not only get this site up and running, but to keep it here without ‘corporate’ backing, pretty rare, no?
So he does what he has to do……..easy to live with, all ‘war’ things considered.
Cheers, M
Let me quote one sentence: “it is my profound conviction that these decisions are correct and that I had no other choice in the matter.”
So, to my analysis of the Saker’s Announcement.
In my words, all the little guys are being pulled into a sick dragnet of lawfare in attempts to dis-empower the true alternative voices. Like empire always does, it attacks the smaller fishes first.
The NATO/US alliance are preparing their populations for war and clearing the communication space of everything and anything that may make their own citizens question their bloviating propaganda.
Welcome to the single-polar vs multi-polar war. There is nothing else to say.
Then, let me give an alternative view in which to consider these the issues the blog cannot advocate. It is not that discussion is banned, it is that advocacy cannot be done here. The Saker says he had no choice but his ‘counter sanctions’ are there, from deep personal conviction. Make no mistake, you are seeing tit for tat, counter-sanctions. “If we cannot discuss these matters, then we will ensure that we do not advocate the matters that fuel the fires of evil and hegemony. ” The everyday person here would not advocate most of those things anyway, so I cannot see that anyone has to change their style too much.
Note something … 4 is banned by the US. The Saker called 4 – for no advocacy. Note, that is a nuanced announcement.
Excepting, as to US internal policy and politics, folks, it is samizdat time.
tit for tat, counter-sanctions
Exactly what NPR says.
As I have no idea what NPR stands for in your cryptic comment, I have no idea what you are saying.
I think he means National Public Radio
As far as living in the US is concerned, I’m pretty sure Mr. Saker had his reasons – he’s got a whole page that explains it. I hope that page helps.
I don’t know about you, but I certainly wouldn’t want to live in the US. If I moved there from another country, I would end up losing access to decent public transport, universal healthcare, and a practical currency system. I’d also be saddled with a system of measurements based on the body parts of dead monarchs (for a supposedly sovereign republic). If I originally lived outside of the Five Eyes, I’d be forced to speak in a language whose spelling does not stay consistent with its pronunciation. The food would also be filled with fake dyes, corn syrup, preservatives and GMOs whose health effects are inconclusive.
No super big deal. We will bookmark those sites that they want The Saker to exclude and visit them daily as a matter of routine (if we haven’t already). Thanks for everything Saker and keep up the good work! Please visit us soon here in Serbia!
First thing I did with this thread was search for the word “bookmark.” I figured someone beat me to it. U.S. lamestream outlets (and most alt-right and alt-left as well) are just so horrific I would rather just depend on a someone who really is a paid Russian “troll” or even an actual troll as ugly as the former Veep that shot a liberal (or is that “liberal”) judge in the face while duck hunting than those clowns since it is impossible for any of them to be any worse at this point.
Mark Galeotti – apologist + propagandist for western view (49.54)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtcUW7mrlPo
A very distorted view of Russia. IMHO He is absolutely not an expert on Russian opinion and intent.
He has a totally wrong view about NS2. He thinks it can be used as a lever against Russia when in reality Germany needs NS2 far more than Russia, who can simply divert the gas to China. Galeotti has also a distorted view of the Russia-China relationship.
I welcome comments on the validity of his opinions. Note he is being interviewed by a Murdoch Media journalist….
It is interesting that he presents the only choices of Russia long term will be between being an “ally” of the West or a “vassal” of China. Equally it could be expressed as between an “ally” of China vs. a “vassal” of the West.
Or even between being an important pole in a multipolar world vs. being a vassal of the West. As a vast territory, rich in resources and just as much in human capital, and with a long and proud history one might hope for this outcome.
And, again, this fearmongering claim that China has or will have designs on Russian territory (territory that is, and probably always will be, very well protected by a vast nuclear arsenal and massive sophisticated conventional forces should some future foreign government get ideas).
Seems to me that the clearest picture of where any threats may lie is the behavior of others when Russia was at her weakest. Which sought out win-win situations and which sought to take advantage or play hardball.
Put it in the dust bin if the covid association is too much.
The Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in the Russian Federation has been around for a long long time still commands respect. Their products over the years for health and safety have had a high quality for safety and effectiveness.

You can look up the various vaccines and research on the above page to see their focus and expertise.
Any researchy facility that was able to navigate the “Lysenko” pseudo-science period and still put produce safe effective products and conduct research during Stalins embrace of Lysenko’s discredited mumbo jumbo has my respect.
Of all the adenoside vaccines, no research facility has a longer usage of them. Others have done as long. From my limited info from TWIV (This Week in Virology) and a citizen science forum that has a main focus on the Arctic (but has bright competent fact based posters) the Sputnik-V is more effective than than any of the other adenoside vaccines, noticeably better than Astra-Zeneca and J&J.
When the effectiveness goes above 95%, small differences in effectiveness are basically statistically irrelevant. Short term and long term for effectiveness, there is no real difference between Sputnik-V and the m-RNA’s of Pfizer and Moderna. The difference lies in the 1.Price, 2. Shelf life and transportation, 3 Again – Price, 4. ability to Scale Up, 5. long decadal history of the building blocks of the vaccine at Gamalleya and an world-wide, 6. much closer to being open-sourced, they are open to others seeing all portions of their design and manufacture and aiding setting up production elsewhere.
What I find as “wow, that is really clever.” is their usage of different viruses, one a Chimp based adenoside and the other a Human based adenoside. That was designed to have less immunological effect of the vectors immunogenicity. The first dose differs from the second dose and so the intent is to have less reaction on the second dose to people that is tangential to a possible boost the effectiveness of the immunogenicity of the Covid-19 spike. An actual boost due to using 2 simimlar but not identical vectors is difficult to prove statistically, but the high effectiveness versus other adenoside vaccines does suggest it was of value.
There were strong plans to do double blind studies with people in G. Britian to have some receive AZ and then Sputnik on second dose – the trials just sputtered out, just like the paper work to the EU for Sputnik sputtered out. Benign negelect is still neglect, maybe not so benign.
India is going to be getting 125 million doses of Sputnik-Victory (not sure if that will do 60 million people or 125 million). I am sure Russia can donate or sell the EU’s returns to places that desperately need it.

UnScientific Experiments and Interpretations Gave Birth to Virology
In 1949, Enders announced that he had managed to cultivate and grow the alleged polio virus in vitro on various tissues. The American expert opinion believed everything immediately. What Enders did was to add fluids from patients with poliomyelitis to tissue cultures which he claimed to have had sterilized, then he alleged that the cells were dying because of the virus, that the virus was replicating in this way and that a vaccine could be harvested from the respective culture. At that time, summer polio epidemics (polio = flaccid paralysis) were very frequent during summer and they were believed to be caused by the polio virus. A vaccine was to help eradicate the alleged virus. After the polio vaccine was introduced, the symptoms were then re-diagnosed among other things as multiple sclerosis, flaccid acute paralysis, aseptic meningitis etc. and later polio was claimed to have been eradicated. During his experiments, Enders et al. sterilized the tissue cultures in order to exclude the possibility of bacteria killing the cells. What he didn’t take into consideration was that the sterilization and the treatment of the cell culture when preparing it for the alleged infection was exactly what was destroying and killing the cells. Instead, he interpreted the cytopathic effects as the existence and the action of a so-called polio virus, without ever having isolated a single virus and describing its biochemistry. The necessary negative control experiments, which would have shown that the sterilization and the treatment of the cells prior to the “infection” in the test tube was killing the cells, have never been performed. However, for this “performance” Enders received the Nobel prize in 1954.
Sounds a bit like O’Bomber a few decades later.
A quick point of view from the east RE: the ‘self-censorship’ and I will try to be gentle here…
In the west, of the ppl of the west, you didnt and/or can’t fight the mechine (when it was just a little baby)
You didn’t care or notice when it roam around the world and make our lives (in the east) Hell
Now they come for you, domestic stuff,
and you feel the pain? You have the right to free speech?
Bro, its been decades, so its not just here in Saker vinyard… this censoring monitoring shadow banning internet army stuff…
da boss the saker has every right, and yes its his full and absolute right to defend and protect his turf and his friends here
and in war, and yes we are at war, for decades now, not everybody survives…
sometime someone get left behind (again I hope the Ukies friend would reasses their situation continualy and make decision when they still can – Putin’s speech tomorrow)
Bro, you already lost your country and your ppl, your right to vioce, decades ago…
there is really nothing more domestic stuff to discuss here…
WHY? coz ‘they’ just rinse and repeat all your domestic ‘issues’ according to their playbook
and you are helpless and hopeless to change its destiny path anyway
So much so some here has come out to call for russia to take the trash out coz they realised they can’t do it themselves…
What is there to talk about? emotional discharge? WOKE stuff in live exhibition?
Why are you surprise by the recent annoucement here at Saker’s?
And I ask many of you some year ago, how do we, the east, seperate the good americans from the bad americans, when war starts and colleteral damage is guaranteed?
Would you like to share your views and your methods here?
Some of your domestic ‘issue’ are dangerous propaganda and call for voilence
Would russia or china allow that and not block it???
What da boss the Saker did here is for ‘self-protection’. Consider that.
USSA is gone, and the Saker save this space for the international multi-polar discussion… The Future!
I may read all this wrong. I appologise, my eastern POV is not fitting to the western paradigm.
Human right comes with a price tag, Bro. Are you willing to pay for that? If yes, go fight USSA, PLZ! Not da boss the saker. Pls learn to spot who is your enemy! Grow UP!
Friend of Saker here, I invite you to look forward to the multi-polar world (and make a nice home for yourself and your family there)
Okie… I hope that was not too hard on some of you. We all love our country, our family.
We must therefore fight to protect them so we can keep them close to us.
This, I see, is what da boss the Saker is doing here.
Thanks for the hard choices you make, The Saker
be well be safe
You were kind. You were kinder than I could ever be when these things are discussed. I have to use a hard reminder to myself that most of the US people are the most brainwashed in the world – and then, with that mental reminder I can contemplate kindness. Thank you for the lesson.
just read a news clip that Japan will now enlist S.Korea to monitor (perhaps assist) the handling of Fuku radioactive waste… read – they just defy the USSA order to dump the waste into the ocean and instead they are trying to get the other country with USSA military bases to join in the clean up… multi-polar magic shinning through again? read – the ppl of the east and their family will not and do not want to die for the western interest and their idiotlogy…
Open question here – Would Russia be a better choice for consultancy and clean-up service?
I’d love to see MORE russian business activity in the EA/SEA domain. Any thoughts?
thanks :)
I proposed it years ago and repeat it here: buy a double-hull supertanker every decade, pump the precleaned but still terribly radioactive water into the tanker and keep it at sea for another few decades before unloading it there. If improved filtering becomes available, retreat the water on the tankers before dumping.
The cost of this approach would be minimal given the magnitude of the disaster. But I feel that Japan and Tepco prefer to muddle through and save some bucks instead.
Not just the price, but national disgrace!
Imagine the reminder of the double-hull supertanker floating off coast… for decades…
thats as bad as hiroshima and nagasaki – a live and forever testament to their ‘mistakes’
The japan ppl, who oppose that, and I feel for them
though your suggestion here is very sensible and good
if it happen in china, then I see greater chance your method here gets implement
but yes, I cuaght this news clip mentioned from the Taiwan news channel, its a BIG issue there atm,
and as joey_n said, yes, I take it w HUGE dose of salt, knowing its from the Taiwan media.
I’ll try to do a search… see if I can find something in english for you… everything is still unofficial…
But I cant help to still beg – Russia pls help! I know they have the technology!
Go charge the Jap, S.K and Taiwan. They have so much money to pay protection fees, surely they pay you too!
be well be safe
I remember reading that Russia offered to help Japan clean up the nuclear fallout, but Japan refused.
And either way, I’m surprised at the announcement, and if it means cancelling the plans to dump the water into the ocean, then many of us apprehensive at this might rejoice.
I have yet to find this bit of news on RT or GlobalTimes. Until then I’ll take it with a grain of salt.
The plan to dump the water circulates since years because it gets unavoidable. Tepco is building new storage tanks weekly since ten years to keep up with the ground water that flows into the damaged reactors, leaches the radioactive isotopes and needs to be disposed off. Initially 400 tons a day. Now, due to walls and some drainage about 100 tons a day.
Digging a trench around the perimeter of the entire site and divert the ground water altogether was never attempted. Part of the contaminated ground water gets pumped out and stored. The rest flows into the sea unimpeded. That is, the sea gets contaminated day in day out anyway. Dumping the treated water that sat already ten years on site barely registers. The fight about it shows the willful ignorance of the scale of the disaster.
So far I have to admit the radioactive fish reaching the west coast of the US is either not being reported (which is difficult to believe), or is non existent. I expected something other than the same old same old.
Hillary Clinton made personally certain that radioactive fish and other edible products could be sold unimpeded in the US by raising the limits of permissible contamination 10 to 100 fold during the unfolding disaster. As a result, even if fish were more than 10 times more radioactive than they used to be, they would pass an eventual test and be sold anyway.
There are good estimates about the quantity of radioisotopes that were gushed out during the first months of the disaster. In comparison to these quantities, the radioactivity in the water to be dumped is unimpressive. Indeed, the scale of the disaster is ignored by those who bicker about it now.

I have read some things from people who have had certain experiences with the ‘vaccine thingy’ but as I don’t know these people……… and it is the ‘internet’. Today I got a form of confirmation on some things I read. The nurse at work got the first shot along with 6 others, no big deal. Then she got the second shot, now here’s the kicker, I was talking to the cook, she’s got her vaccine date, and we were discussing side effects as her daughter’s doctor has advised the daughter, for med reasons, not to take the vaccine. The nurse overheard our disscussion, and the cook asked her if she’d had side effects, even with a masked face we could see in her eyes, she had a problem. She feels disconnected from her body, at times like she is outside it, (I said out of body experience, she said yes, that’s how it feels) this started about 2 weeks after the second shot, she also has less than half the energy she usualy does, and I’ve worked with her for over 12 years, she’s always on the go, lots of elderly people to look after……….I have read of people feeling disconnected, dissassociated physiclly after the vaccine so maybe there is something going on there.
Cheers, M
btw, the nurse thought it was just her so I told her others were having similar experiences……..I’ve never heard of vaccines causing psycological disorders, so I guess it’s possible.
see my News RSS Feeds post. Take with grain of salt. Video micro-graph ostensibly of contents of one of the putative so-called vaccines, which seems to show living critter in the stuff.
My doc, Captain in reserves, opines “laboratory is source of virus”. “Vaccine is not a vaccine, is experimental substance, he says.
Some info on pathogenic priming, https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/pfizer-covid-vaccine-trial-pathogenic-priming/
or as the artical states ‘paradoxical immune enhancement phenomenon’ where the vaccinated get sicker (or die)when exposed to the virus. Which is what happened with all the animals that were used in live vaccine trials.
Cheers
morgellons type organism. crrtainly needs more inspection
In a FB group related to a commune in which I once lived a discussion of this came up. I spent a week getting attacked from these people. One of them got his second jab, posted on FB that he’d just gotten it and said “Look out world, now here I come!” Dead within 12 hours of the 2nd shot. At least, the former hippies are no longer attacking me.
This young girl a friend of ours , a beauty full of energy a theater actress got a shot (tetanus) Is still recovering from the shot of one and a half year ago. 3 days after the shot she was paralyzed for months. Got slowly better with acupuncture and herbal medicine An old friend of those times after a shot ( forgot for what) got hart trouble had to give up his job and has to be careful for the rest of his days. This and my sisters are cases I can personally testify for.

The ‘vaccine’ is doing what it was designed to do. Nothing experimental about it.
https://www.waldorflibrary.org/journals/15-gateways/334-spring-1998-issue-34-report-on-vaccination
“doing what it was designed to do.”
Who was the master planner of the design, it goes back a while as the ‘concept’ of ‘soul’ is just that mostly, an undefined, nebulous concept. You are your physical body, and that’s it.
I just had a long conversation about this with a young man. I: do we have a soul?, He: ‘there may be such a thing as a soul, but we don’t know, nobody knows. Great stuff! Funny thing is when he was most involved in expressing his thoughts he looked the epitome of someone with soul, and at one point said he’d like to believe in the possibility of having a soul, as it would be and outlet for feelings.
Then back to his drawing board : the brain exudes feelings, thoughts etc. In the end I was laughing at the whole thing, and finally asked him if he believed we had a a spirit, (comic relief question), “look, the spirit and the soul belong together, they’re the same thing !”
So, the soul doesn’t exist because no one knows if it does, and the spirit exists with the non existent soul that no one knows if it exists. Cool. Humour is a good thing, the brain exudes it, get talking.
“the soul does not exist because no one knows if it does”
You assume that since you do not know nobody else knows. You do not have a soul. You are a soul. You do have a body.
To have soul is to have personality, stars in your eyes, an aura around you. People who have little or no soul have dead eyes, no special personality, no aura around them.
We are all born with soul and spirit, but it can be sucked out from us, by treating us bad, teaching us to lie, but we can get it back if we fight hard to get our soul and spirit back.
@Anomalus
In short the Corona vaccine gives you HIV, it weakens peoples own immunity system.
If people cant answer the question on why would big pharma want to weaken my and my children’s immune system, they are maybe too stupid for this life.
“A somewhat ambiguous announcement from the Saker ” = first sentence of first comment this cafe.
Listen: I’m as a contemporary, to learn from Putin, not to discuss with Putin. Same to me goes with the Saker.
“Listen: I’m as a contemporary, to learn from Putin, not to discuss with Putin.”
You’ve had your jab(s) and wearing your hazmat suit while writing that?
Update on Clark Air base in the Philipines, the US landed four big bombers over the last few days, likely B1 stealth………I’ll see if I can get a discription, but something’s cookin’. Apparently the 10, specific number, Chinese war ships left the area, they were visible from land, that’s how close they are to the Philipines. The message my associate recieved was, “brother pray for us” as people there watched the fighter jets land.
Cheers
B52’s old man. 4 each.
Stealth is B-2. The B-1 is the older “swing wing” supersonic bomber. Either way these planes are a provocation.
“Fighter Jets” are the relatively smaller single man planes that escort the larger bombers or other missions.
You can see the shoreline from the second story of a vessel at 13 miles away, (14 not so much), 12 miles is the international limit for foreign ships, so in essence, this is not unusual, probably a response to a US close encounter to some SE Asian country, like Taiwan.
Very interesting how the announcement of the Saker has stirred up agenda’s, emotions and unexpected reactions. Yes, for me there was a certain ambiguity there.
Is there ever, has there ever, been a good reason not to share reasonable ideas, thoughts, experiences, or some utterly random, well meant advice that can be left tactfully on the Café table if wished?
Communicate and discuss openly, sincerely, while you still can, there is little time left.
As suggested by Per/Norway (below). Limiting discussion is preferable to getting shut down completely or getting swept up into the global deep state’s propaganda show (“U.S. Shuts Down Pro-Russian Website – Was Spewing Propaganda”).
I agree, luckily the discussion has been limited.
i understand that you dont want to get into trouble with the u.s gov, belive me.
Your new mod rules i fully support🤷♂️
I’ve got a question on a completely different subject. In my bible-study group the question was raised “Is Russia a Christian Nation”? The answer may seem obvious to us here in this blog but this subject is apparently not so well understand within the U.S. Someone in the group was of the opinion that “Well, in Russia, the government controls the Orthodox Church so the Russian government just wants to give the impression that Russia is a Christian nation but, in reality, it’s not really a Christian nation at it’s core”. I think this is a bogus argument but, not living in Russia and having few, on-the-ground news sources, I am in a poor position to judge and to counter this argument. I would appreciate it greatly if a few readers here would help me increase my understanding so I can “report back” so to speak to my study group. Many thanks.
If it was me, I’d ask which country IS a Christian nation?
I don’t think such exists.
If they were to say USA. I’d bring up the last half century of atrocities…. or more, but there is enough material in just 50 years to argue the US is spawn of Satan, not a Christian entity.
But then, I’d probably have myself kicked out of the group.
Which is probably not what you are intending.
Very difficult area to be in Littlejohn. Why would Russia want to pretend to be Christian?.
Russia is a secular nation and her main religion is Orthodoxy and The Russian Orthodox Church. There are 3 more kinda accepted religions, Judaism, Buddhism, and Islam. The last stats that I saw (but check me on this) is that something like 71% of Russians belong to the Orthodox Church. There is also in one province Shamanism still existing.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are banned as a religion.
The best answer could be these (but then again one walks into the LGBT nightmare): Marriage is defined in law as a union between man and woman in the Christian sense. The LGBTplusses are not banned, but they may not recruit youngsters to their lifestyle. Putin himself visits a Russian Orthodox Monastery from time to time, for spiritual work.
Thank-you Amarynth. It’s awkward for me as I just joined this bible study group very recently. My first impression is either they don’t have much information about Russia and/or they have swallowed a lot of the MSM propaganda. I would like to (gently) help them update their knowledge but that means that I have to update my own knowledge. My question here really should have been “How independent is the Russian Orthodox Church from the government currently”? My own belief (or should I say “hope”) is that the Orthodox Church and by that I mean the believers and not just the clergy, enjoy wide latitude in practicing their religious beliefs. Although I consider myself highly MSM propaganda-resistant (heck, I’ve been hanging out here for maybe 5 years and have been an Internet info-junkie for at least 20 years), I personally don’t have any real current knowledge of the church-state relationship inside the RF. Your examples are good ones. Further, I just now read the lengthy Wikipedia article on the Russian Orthodox Church (and yes; I know Wikipedia info can sometimes be skewed) and it establishes beyond any doubt that the RF is primarily a Christian nation. I’m still not perfectly clear about the current state of the Church-State relationship but I’m going to pass the Wikipedia link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Orthodox_Church) on to the leader of my study group and I think it will help clear up any confusion about the history of Christianity in the RF. Thank-you again and best wishes.
Littlejohn, if that question came to me in context of a western group, let me confess. I would duck – I would be chickensh!t and not do it. So, gently, gently I would think. But it could be very rewarding for you, doing the studies.
Very personally, I am not an Orthodox Church member (or any church for that matter). But, if I have questions, these days I go and study the Orthodox material. Not exclusively, because I have always been drawn to the Vedics in my make-up, but those Orthodox fellows impress me, time after time, and I find answers that make very clear sense.
Good wishes to you in your new group.
Yes Amarynth. I’ve already forwarded that link although I’m not sure if I’m being gentle enough. Time will tell. And, yes; doing these studies (I’m new to all this) is, so far, unbelievably rewarding. Life is Good!
This should give you some indication. The title of the link is enough to read

Perhaps the understanding of what being a Christian, of what Christianity is even, needs an overhaul and update.
China has a large group of people who meet “underground” so to say, in secret and read the bible and talk together, and their attitude to what Christianity is differs greatly from Western peoples, it affects them on a more profound yet every day life.
In the UK the church is no longer valid, though still conventionally operative, for functions and small minorities.
Perhaps also the understanding of what being human means, in connection to spirituality and Christianity could use some exploration.
From a wide reading of Russian history, it is clear the Orthodox church has been heavily influenced by the state. This is to quite a large extent censored.
Further to my comment above is the awe and respect I have for the Orthodox Russian church, a friend of mine was married there to her English husband, it was simple, powerful and beautiful. Russian churches, ancient and new are astounding !
To be clear, Orthodoxy is not a religion, but a representation of Christianity, being a substantial and highly prized church. Christianity is the “religion”, meaning “reconnecting ” to the divine, or what is lost.
Yes; a very good, almost-non-political article. It’s very informative and eye-opening and helps one to understand the depth of Christianity (and humanity) in the people of the Russian Federation. Thank-you for posting.
For those who missed the tail end of last cafe:
Scoop: US ambassador refuses Kremlin push to leave Russia
The United States ambassador to Russia is refusing to leave the country after the Kremlin “advised” him to return home following new Biden administration sanctions, two sources briefed on the situation tell Axios.
Yadda yadda yadda………
• Sullivan’s view, according to people familiar with his thinking, is that if Putin wants him to leave, he’ll have to force him.
Yadda yadda yadda ……
The bottom line: Biden wants stability and predictability to define his relationships with Putin and Russia, while his administration focuses on China.
• By ignoring the Kremlin’s suggestion to recall Sullivan, the administration isn’t taking the bait to escalate, while making it clear that Biden gets to decide who his ambassador is, not Putin.
Article followed almost immediately by:
US ambassador to Russia will return home briefly: State Department
The State Department said Monday that the US ambassador to Russia, John Sullivan, will now be returning to the United States this week before returning to Moscow “in the coming weeks.”
Why this matters: The statement, from a State Department spokesperson, comes just hours after Axios reported that Sullivan had indicated he intended to stand his ground and stay in Russia after the Kremlin “advised” him to return home to talk with his team.
• The Russians did not forcibly expel Sullivan as they did with 10 other U.S. diplomats in retaliation for President Biden’s sanctions last week.
• “Ambassador Sullivan will be returning to the U.S. this week to visit his family and meet with members of the new administration with whom he has not had a chance to consult since he agreed to continue serving in his post indefinitely,” a State Department spokesperson told Axios Monday night.
• “He will return to Moscow in the coming weeks.”
Between the lines: There’s a lot we don’t know, yet, about the circumstances surrounding this decision.
There is more in both items, posted right at closing at last cafe.

Looking at comment sections on a few articles on a few Russian news websites, like this one (https://vz.ru/news/2021/4/9/1093816.html), at least one commentator is seen using the term ‘narrow-eyed’ when referring to Japanese people.
Excuse me?
It may not be a new thing, and I doubt I’m the first person here to talk about it, but this tendency for some on the Russian internet to use ‘narrow-eyes’ as a slur (racial?) leaves me wondering what said commentators think about Russia’s strategic alliance with China. Is the stereotype of Chinese people having ‘narrow eyes’ a thing in Russia to the degree that it is in the West?
Granted, those commentators are unlikely to represent the Russian people as a whole (and I certainly hope not – I’ve been told they’re generally tolerant), let alone the readership of Vzglyad.
But then it raises a more general question: why do some people resort to using slurs anyway?
(I’m not sure what got my first few attempts deleted. Maybe it was something I said that wasn’t accepted?)
Josep – I try very hard not to feed the trolls. You have a good day now.
I suppose that could be the best strategy. Thanks. And after what the other two said, I think I might have been making mountains out of molehills.
Josep, are you 100% sure of the meaning of that “word”? I come to think of several things it could mean, like myopic, tunnel vision, narrow minded and so on.
Stereotype? Chinese have narrow eyes. Westerners have long noses. Hard to take offence at what I see in the mirror
I see what you mean.
One comment in the article remarks on how the ‘narrow-eyed’ Japanese draw their cartoon characters with large eyes. If I’m not mistaken, the rationale is to express emotion more clearly – this can apply even outside the realm of manga/anime. Apparently, even in Russia, not everyone realizes that cartoon characters’ proportions aren’t forced to match with real life proportions.
Then again, internet trolls tend to not be the brightest bulbs in the pack regardless of nationality.

My friends, family and foes disparage me as a geopolitical nerd.
But. I know nothing about Chad, although I am confident I could locate it on a map.
Considering this week’s CIA/ Belarusian /Lukashenko debacle, this item caught my interest:
<b<Chad Claims President Suddenly Dead After Personally Fighting ‘Rebels’
https://katehon.com/en/news/chad-claims-president-suddenly-dead-after-personally-fighting-rebels
Extract:
Déby, a former Chadian army officer who came to power in 1990 by leading his own armed uprising, served as Chad’s president for over 30 years before his death Tuesday at the age of 68.
~…………
Déby died one day after provisional election results from Chad’s recent general election projected he would win a sixth term in office as president. 🤨
Chad’s government and parliament have been dissolved in the wake of the president’s death.
Déby’s son, Mahamat Idriss Déby — a four-star general in the Chadian army — will lead a military council charged with governing Chad for the next 18 months.
Chad will hold “free and democratic” elections once the 18-month transitionary period ends, the Chadian army said in a statement Tuesday.
It was the “free and demoncratic” that really activated my 🤔hmmmm.🤔
I think this article will appeal to cafe regulars and lurkers:
Michael Savage Warns of Civil War — ‘You Should Be Very Frightened’

Don’t worry. Loose talk. Nothing to it.

Watched “Crosstalk” just now. Not so bad. It minded me of Ilf and Petrov and their tour of the 1930’s USA… The pair wrote two books about America… English versions are in print…
Withal>
“Just thinking about the general state of affairs in the United States is enough to make you fall into a deep melancholy, but the young American man doesn’t think in the abstract. He’s not capable of making generalizations. He just knows that he’s young, he’s healthy, he’s got white skin, and he plays baseball. That means that everything’s okay–all right–and he’ll get by somehow.”
* “And if you asked us now ‘What did America seem like to you?’ our honest answer would sound something like this: ‘The most advanced technology in the world and a horrifyingly oppressive, stupefying social order.'”
(I do not remember the 1930’s, but the echos were still being heard from mom and dad, Ilf and Petrov told the truth.)
The problems are now grown to vast proportions, and are fundamental. Is there a “solution? Sure. “Surgery”.
Alternatives? Well, there are 3 surgeons. US people can try to do surgery on themselves. Or invite Russia to cut away the diseased flesh, or Chinese surgeons can do the job. Sooner or later one or a team is going to take US to the “ER”…

I wanted to follow-up to Analyst’s comment in one of the Open Thread’s about the Distant Early Warning line (DEW) that stretched from Alaska, all across Canada.
/russian-amphibious-options-and-how-to-debunk-a-ukie-lie-open-thread-13/#comment-928865
(FWIW, I was born in the 70’s and I remember the Canadians despising the DEW Line, but I can’t find any of the media coverage to that effect, Perhaps my memory is faulty.)
Here is the Unclassified document, ”A History of the DEW LIne, 1946-1964”
https://www.northcom.mil/Portals/28/Paper%20No%2031%20A%20History%20of%20the%20Dew%20Line,%201946-1964%20Full%20Release.pdf?ver=2017-03-16-115749-817
And here is a link to the Wikipedia page on the Canada Act of 1982:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada_Act_1982
”It was enacted at the request of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada to patriate Canada’s Constitution, ending the power of the British Parliament to amend the Constitution. The Act also formally ended the “request and consent” provisions of the Statute of Westminster 1931 in relation to Canada, whereby the British parliament had a general power to pass laws extending to Canada at its own request.”
Back to the History of the DEW Line document. From page 4 —
”Canadian military planners, who might have been straight-laced about it all, happily greeted U.S. overtures. The Canadians acknowledged the wisdom of planting AC&W units on Canadian soil for the mutual protection of both nations. They seemed not to mind coordinating locations of future Canadian sites with the growing U.S. network, so as to complement and project contiguous early warning coverage to the northeast.”
”But when the subject of costs was broached, the Canadians balked, whereupon the U.S. offered to finance two-thirds of the costs. Canada signed formal acceptance in 1951.”
The costs to construct and maintain this were enormous.
”Accordlng to Lincoln Summer Study Group estimates, a DEW Line chain “‘would cost about a third of a
billion dollars. with annual maintenance costs approximating a hundred million thereafter.” ”
That’s in 1952 dollars.
… It makes me wonder if the British were trying to bleed the U.S. treasury back then, on defence expenditures to protect North America.
What was life like on the DEW Line? Here’s a CBC Radio report from 62 years ago.

Another “oops” in Israel. An errant Syrian surface-to-air missile accidentally landed near the Israeli Dimona Nuclear Reactor causing an explosion that was heard throughout Israel. I don’t even get here too frequently – just a lot of work. But there is one thing that I wanted to post here – Remember the Q stories? Well, they were the product of … you’ve guessed it, China and Russia. Oh boy .. I remember way back when China wailed about this grouping just being a bunch of China haters. Little did they know that they did it all themselves. And you know what is unbelievable, people are going to fall for this.
Report: China, Russia fueling QAnon conspiracy theories
https://news.yahoo.com/news/report-china-russia-fueling-q-anon-conspiracy-theories-090027767.html
(I think I’m going to agitate for the removal of that rule – it’s not necessary any longer).
Its good to be able to express one’s thought’s, harmful to bottle things up, you die more peacefully when you have lived being true to yourself ; ) Here is a response to the matter that became known at the café as: The Story of the Forbidden Consonant………………..
I wrote before about how the Q posts here seemed to me anyway, to target the potential for optimistic thinking rather than wailing pessimism, daily drudgery of same old, same old.. So, what was/is projected as unknown, mysterious, full of hope, i.e. the antithesis of the worst of USA politics, was attempted to be viewed from a maintenance position, i.e. non acceptance, non not acceptance, holding a neutral, unbiased territory.
At the time, I wrote poems based upon delusional aspects of manifest political, social phenomena.
One needs to flex one’s mental muscles for clarity, for engagement with life. How else can one learn and practice discernment ? Never one single positive word to say about Trump, or the fact that millions of people, whether delusional or not, saw something new, a future potential..
No problem this was not seen, why should you or anyone ? Understanding is an individual path. However, to deny the experience of other’s, ort claim it is unworthy, illusory, is a different matter and rather serious.
As it was clearly you who agitated for never mentioning the subject again, though did yourself when you felt like it(!) and now wish to agitate to remove the censorship, well, what can one say ?
One understands life best from a lateral-logic perspective, then there is no need to be fearful.
All this happened a long time ago, and is forgotten, and gone now.
Cia Bella
Another one that thinks I make the rules here. You can flex your mental muscles laterally and logically, but I still don’t make the rules here.
I studied the phenomenon though, as it was interesting as to who was behind it. And opened up the discussion for it but not here – as I don’t make the rules here. These folks did not want to discuss, they wanted to take over, which I think was the reason for the rule. In fact, it was so stated by some.
This did not fall within the Saker Blog remit, which I agreed with – and as the Saker said, there were many places you could go and discuss that if you wanted to. I actually did just that, because this is The Saker’s blog and I live with his rules. You can turn your mental muscles upside down, but that is still the reality.
I am sorry, I sincerely did not wish to offend you, Another time, please respect my thoughts, my experience, and respond to these rather than what is perceived as untrue, thank you amarynth.
What can one say?
No need to say anything
Live in the present, not the past
Real friendship will always last
Nursing hurt over things said and done
Brings no joy to anyone
Perhaps Qananomalous visited the Café, could be, but whether from USA, China or Russia, will still be regarded with the discerning mind ; )
For those who worry about this throwaway comment: “(I think I’m going to agitate for the removal of that rule – it’s not necessary any longer). “ because clearly, it is all Russia and China’s fault – It’s all normal now … Blame Russia and carry on!
That is the twist in the tale that I found fascinating and it really demonstrates how people’s minds are being changed for them. That was worth a short mention of a change around this group. (and skating on thin ice regarding the Saker’s rules.)
Not to worry, I agitate for something daily or weekly – Last week I was ‘agitating’ to create a union for myself and nobody took that very seriously. Sometimes I do joke you know. But next time I’ll write it out in big letters. :-)
For the other comments, I live in the reality of the new normal on The Saker’s Blog, and much of that I’ll refrain from discussing.

So. Borderline useless: {but that hasn’t stopped me before}
>> The vaccine contains a spike protein (see image) called syncytin-1, vital for the formation of human placenta in women.
If the vaccine works so that we form an immune response AGAINST the spike protein, we are also training the female body to attack syncytin-1, which could lead to infertility in women of an unspecified duration.
There is a lot of ‘shedding’ talk around. Even to the extent that unvaxed women working with vaxed women report that they feel the jab itself sheds, and they have the same problems as the vaxed women. Crazy, I know – and I don’t know what to make of all of this.

For those here thinking of moving to Russia. Let me introduce one of the best areas to move to.
Krasnodar region
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqnd51z5tLQ
Many of my closest friends are living in Krasnodar. Fantastic area, fantastic people and a very pleasant climate. Best place in the world for homeschooling .
The other area that I love is the Kaliningrad province: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6M14rLIhV0
I’d say this is one of my home lands. Was planning to move there last summer but, with the way things are, I had to postpone my family’s relocation.
April the 23rd, St George’s day, Shakespeare’s birthday, the day of many birthdays….
Not marble, nor the gilded monuments
Of princes, shall outlive this powerful rhyme;
But you shall shine more bright in these contents
Than unswept stone, besmear’d with sluttish time.
When wasteful war shall statues overturn,
And broils root out the work of masonry,
Nor Mars his sword, nor war’s quick fire shall burn
The living record of your memory.
‘Gainst death, and all oblivious enmity
Shall you pace forth; your praise shall still find room
Even in the eyes of all posterity
That wear this world out to the ending doom.
So, till the judgment that yourself arise,
You live in this, and dwell in lovers’ eyes.
A real poem.
Not like my doggerel.
Thanks
It’s one of 154 real sonnets actually, and you’re welcome ;)

I’m afraid we put too much stock in the Nord 2 being of help to Russia. Maybe a few years ago when it was supposed to be finished. But today its only now in a couple of months going to be finished. In the meantime if the articles I see are true, the even more pro-US Green Party leader will succeed Merkel as Chancellor of Germany. And the Greens oppose the pipeline. So if its not up and running before they come to power it may be canceled. And even if it is completed and running, there is no guarantee that the Greens won’t still cancel it.They want Germany to end fossil fuel usage,so they will have their target sites on Russian gas anyway. I really don’t understand the thinking of German voters that for years would bring to power leaders that work against their peoples interests. But then that is true of most of the West, most especially the US.
