“Endless Time”
Time is endless in thy hands, my lord.
There is none to count thy minutes.
Days and nights pass
and ages bloom and fade like flowers.
Thou knowest how to wait.
Thy centuries follow each other
perfecting a small wild flower.
We have no time to lose,
and having no time
we must scramble for a chance.
We are too poor to be late.
And thus it is that time goes by
while I give it
to every querulous man who claims it,
and thine altar is empty
of all offerings to the last.
At the end of the day I hasten
in fear lest thy gate be shut;
but I find that yet there is time.
– Rabindranath Tagore
“While God waits for his church to be built of
love men bring stones”
Rabindanath Tagore
Time
Time is neither friend nor foe,
And least of all, made to last.
We strut our stuff upon the stage,
Until our fretful hour’s passed.
Time is neither cruel nor kind,
But fickle, feckless and fading fast.
To all things is as blind
And faithless to the very last.
Time is neither good nor bad
But thinking that makes it so.
When we’re happy, it moves too fast,
And when we’re sad, oh so slow.
Time is neither here nor there,
And can never be held or caught.
But if you take the time to love,
Your time will not’ve been for naught.
In the dense silences between
the efforts towards wisdom
In the spaces in between
Time and unsuitable time
In the eyes vision of
our shining hearts
In the flights of limitless thoughts
let us make a conjecture in time
In this purposeful imagination
the mysterious can now be seen
In between our varying times, the
unseen celestial dance of our souls
opening one’s eye;
a glimpse of the unseen
to inspire and stir…
Sudhi, I wanted to commend your poem. I knew yesterday my idea had only partially revealed itself, and your response has inspired me to revise and continue. Cheers, D.
Time
Time is neither good nor bad,
But thinking makes it so.
When we’re happy it moves too fast,
And when we’re sad, oh so slow.
Time is neither cruel nor kind,
But faithless to the very last.
We strut our stuff upon the stage
Until our fretful hour’s passed.
Time is neither right nor wrong
But to all things is as blind.
Leaving only then, the true,
The necessary and the kind.
Time is neither friend nor foe,
But consigns to each the perfect part.
It marks the acts and the passing show,
And serves to advance the player’s art.
Thank you Dimitar, for your kind words.
If I recall, I read that you’d said you’re new to poetry writing, Sudhi. Your above poem is very strong, it builds and resolves perfectly and is a pleasure to read. I wonder if you wrote it after having read my initial draft, of “Time”? If so, it’s a wonderful example of how we help each other here, with the results on view for everyone to share and enjoy.
It has always been a pleasure reading poems, more so, off late when strict lockdowns were imposed. Even though I’m new to the art, various poems and ideas do inspire, e.g. the poem written was inspired by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s poem ‘Endless Time’ as well as another poem and was in reply to your poem. In the previous iteration of MFC, Alabama’s poem regarding ‘time’ was quite good –

Your thoughts and ideas about the continuity of the soul definitely contributed.
A wonderful poem.
Can ‘faithful’ be used instead of ‘faithless’ in –
“But faithless to the very last.”
Yes it can, ie; time can be “faithful”, or “faithless”, depending on how you look at it.
In the final analysis, however, the Time Track marks each individual life lived in the Lower Worlds, and is neither “faithful nor faithless”, ie; it is not “a thing” and therefore has no soul, but simply marks events, experiences and happenings that occur in a temporal universe where cycles govern all of existence.
In the world of Soul, time does not exist. Despite what may appear to be a paradox to the mind, time, as we know it cannot exist, in the same way that karma cannot exist ( in the Pure Positive God Worlds), but does so in the worlds of polarity. Both time and karma serve to educate Soul, in the same way that all creation serves to educate and bring about emancipation of Soul.
This last part of the discussion, re: time, segues perfectly into, “Could Life Be No More Than This?”
Further to our discussion, this poem points out that all of the things that we take for granted, are little more than mental concepts, and if we take them away, there’s nothing left but pure existence which is always in this present moment.
Thank you for the elucidation on whether Time is “faithful or faithless”, or if it’s neither.
In observing life, we create terms and divide it into parts, then become lost in the minutiae…
Could Life Be No More Than This?
If there were no beginning,
If there were no end,
No fear of birth
And death, a friend,
No need for dismay
Or atonement due,
There’d be nothing to flee
And nothing to pursue.
If there were no future,
If there were no past,
No good, nor hope
Of making it last.
If there were no evil
To disavow,
Life would be no more
Than what it is now.
If there were no heaven,
If there were no hell,
If there were no power
Or magical spell,
Nothing to deter you
From keeping your vow,
Life would be no more
Than what it is now.
If there were nowhere to go,
And nothing to be,
If there were nothing to know
And nothing to see.
If there were nothing to prove,
No why or how,
Life would be no more
Than what it is right now.

I’ve been told that post-WWII Japan’s mainstream media is under the control of the USA, which is likely the driving force for Russophobia in Japan. I doubt Asahi would be any different, being a mainstream publication and all.
It also worries me when certain Russian media outlets, and readers thereof, treat the opinions of a select number of readers of a single publication as the general opinion of 126 million people.
It would be just as remiss to treat the opinions espoused by commentary on RIA, Vzglyad, InoSMI or URA as representative of the general opinion of 146 million.
If people are not properly informed that the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were intended to intimidate the USSR, and instead resort to the Anglo-American (Russophobe) narrative that they were to teach Japan a lesson, then IMHO it shows the extent to which the USian media has influenced (and poisoned) public consciousness.
okie okie if you are a putin-lover pls cover your ears for one moment pls…

That sail through truly made a mark .. Hey, We Took it Once, We’ll take it Again, if you Japan do not get off your duff and make true peace.
Made a comment on email to a ‘local discussion club’ – It is as if Russia / China are now in an implementation mode of the changes they want to see in the world. Mr Lavrov is hitting a different country about 4 times per week, and this schedule has been going on since 6 months before the Afghanistan withdrawal. That man must have an energizer bunny or something in his jacket pocket.
Go read that speech, it is quite something and the Q and A is quite something else also.
China is all in on the Olympics now, and the only feathers that will fly, is if someone wants to try to interfere there. I think that someone will just disappear in a fluff of smoke. Mr Xi Jingping is preparing a major speech for the 50th anniversary of the restoration of People’s Republic of China’s lawful seat in the United Nations – that is for Monday.
So, our bread and circuses are lined up for us.
When the gloves come off, and there’s nowhere to hide, what then ?
Me being a Putin-lover, you could say that, but I’m not sure where Putin fits in the equation (the original post).
At this point, when the RIA article has readers claiming that Japanese are “forever enemies” as a knee-jerk response to this small selection of Asahi readers, who probably aren’t even the majority of the population to begin with, then I don’t know what to expect anymore. In the end all I can say is that even in a country like Russia there will be people who think in black or white – it’s not just a Western phenomenon.
Al Tanf, US base and home for ISIS in Syria suffered a mild Iranian drone and missile strike. It is tactical, not strategic.
I have been calling for years for this to be a strategic goal, drive the US out of al Tanf and they will likely leave Syria shortly thereafter.
The Iranian militias are now beginning a bit of this.
How did the US react? They had to leave the base to avoid casualties. All it is is a training base. It has little fortifications and cannot withstand artillery, or bombs from drones or missiles.
One report was the Iranians gave the US military time to leave like they did with the Iraq base missile attack.
That is such an important message, the one of leaving time for the US military to leave. It says it all.
Re: Battle lines at the O.K. Corral
Mr P, you may win your main bet!
pl see latest mercouris “US President commits US to defence of taiwan.” He sounded frazzled and looked it too. Will do that to a man gazing into the abyss. Taiwan appears to be winner for Sarajevo sweepstakes.
at current blistering pace; consolidation & marshaling of Russia-China; reorientation of NAM and tributaries / outer provinces away from collapsing core; desperation/ inadequacy of the Biden basement complex; and need for PR cover of those dropping like flies, the issue may not last to the olympics.
They wanted to just focus on CONUS and hollow it out, but events overtake them.
did you note Muscovites just given 2 weeks off for increased covid – all nonessential sectors, even governmental, told to stay and if can, work from home? Moscow is most prepped metropolis with well maintained & stocked blast shelters within easy range of most of the populace. They drill regularly too. It is revealing how Zone B’s 99% get space in the mine-shafts too, unlike the indispensables.
https://www.rt.com/russia/538055-moscow-record-covid-deaths/
London also preparing to enter a new lockdown. There was a nondenial denial by their Health secretary 2 days ago, of transitioning to “Plan B”
It feels like the sweet calm before the arrival of the mother of all typhoons.
Don’t know what Mr P would think, but today was a day with incredible rhetoric.
They needed to get into the Friday news cycle. But I think Mercouris is falling for rhetoric here.
Example – yesterday Biden ‘commits’ to defense of Taiwan .. today Austin walks it back – Austin reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to a One China policy, adding that the US will help Taiwan to defend itself..
Cartoons can be made of this statement.
NATO just completed their two day conference and are generating paper and rhetoric like crazy. But I read all today. Their ‘plan’ is a concept – it is not a plan.
Stoltenberg is a cardboard cutout .. he is not a soldier. And he made a speech talking about this ‘plan’. They are doing/planning capability targets, whatever the hell that is .. and an innovation fund, and a plan on women, and a strategy on artifical intelligence.
So, lots of words, very few with meaning. They needed to get Mr Putin off the front pages you know.
I sincerely hope you are right.
But Mercouris is methodical, balanced and has perspective.
He was careful to note the trends behind his impression (not based merely on a single possible Biden gaffe) and that the Chinese are similarly quite concerned.
He describes a gathering western crazed consensus on war.
I have similar gestalt.
And I am no fanatic waiting to be raptured!
Please watch this complete mercouris episode, it is only 30 odd minutes, and he talks so carefully and slowly that if you set speed to 1.75 or 2.0 it is very intelligible and brief.
A point he made in past, and reiterated today, is the current Taiwanese elites are semi-loose cannons; true believers and fools like Saddam when he listened to April Gillespie in 1990.
They may have been sold a bridge in Brooklyn as part of the said “commitment,” by the agreement-capable gang. Are Taiwanese elites the political Banderistans of the Far East? A suicide squad?! Mainland China is likely onto the coming shenanigans hence their increasing anger and strident counter-rhetoric.
Also among many big moves afoot: moscow/london lockdowns and now US troops being activated to “ease supply chain crisis in California ports.” (See Sputnik headline now).
This is all too much to be merely control-the-news cycle and has been building for weeks.
Please give intel from China/Oz to round out the picture, thanks.
Thanks A.H.H, but I stick with my position for now. A whole mass of hot air does not necessarily make something – or it may make a weather system or it may dissipate.
At least where the NATO and Pentagon stuff is concerned, Marytanov also feels it is hot air. He says:
“This latest NATO’s “master plan” is neither “master” nor “plan”. It is just same ol’ regurgitation of contingency planning which has its roots in the Cold War 1.0 and it is primarily a PR, same PR as yesterday announcement about “successful testing of components for a prototype” of some hyper-sonic weapon which we will see, most likely, not soon (politely speaking). Now to points:”
http://smoothiex12.blogspot.com/2021/10/laurent-brought-it-up.html
In the Chinese media there are the normal statements about the US irresponsible statements and some places they speculate if the policy of ‘strategic ambiguity’ may be changing. Militarily they’ve been in some state of alert for months now. Taiwanese elites are loose cannons, still believing that they are the legitimate rulers of China. There will be no military action here to bring Taiwan to heel, simply because there are many other ways to do it
It won’t be Hong Kong, but Taiwan will be reintegrated with the mainland and I’ll bet some icecream that it will be done without major shooting (but there may be minor glitches of the ‘accidental’ kind).
Even Putin said in a recent speech (not the current one of the Valdai Club) that China will not take military action because they do not have to.
Monday we have Xi Jinping’s major speech. It will be China-centric but will outline the history of the Chinese acceptance to the UN and will punch all the Taiwanese stories in the nose. And again we will have a flurry of propaganda. I heard somewhere that some poll was taken and now more than 50% US Americans say that the US must go and make war should China take Taiwan. You know the real story eh? Taiwan has major assembly of chips, microchips or integrated circuit boards. I’m afraid the anti-China propaganda is reaching crazy levels and some of the US population will want to walk into another war with their eyes open.
No such hysteria can be seen from the Chinese side, just resolution.
Russia is not calling non-working weeks for no reason. They have surging Covid numbers (+- 19,000 incidences a month or two ago and now 38,000 in addition to the winter flu season starting). In my opinion, they should have called lockdown already weeks ago but this is only opinion. This stuff we know first hand and we are waiting now with incredible trepidation and very little hope left, to hear if the blog has lost a friend or more.
(Not discussing Covid, just Russia’s lockdown).
The rest of the West I cannot say too much about excepting we’re witnessing a spectacular implosion of the kind that we or I cannot yet see how the pieces will fall. But they are falling.
Generally a lot of propaganda is being generated and to an extent, Mercouris (and I have nothing against the man or his work) is reporting on propaganda. The most overarching statement that I can think of, is that we are now in the heights or the depths of a complete change in world order, a change that will continue for years. It will get crazier. Iran is demonstrating how to get rid of US military bases without true blood-shed but with some shooting and who will follow their method?
Valuable to read the different interpretations and intuitive reading of current perspectives here.
I look for what the signs of the times say in terms of what my eyes see, all over, in London, locally, and my gut senses are informing me that it ain’t looking good as the fella said, though the tide could turn for a while, new developments unsuspected emerge that create positive aspects, remember now, we are on unknown territory humanly (that means politically = people/civic).
Another lockdown in England will be the end, business owners have predicted since the last one ended.
Two more quick comments ..
anon amigo, yes, we all feel the stress.
And another general, please do not get me wrong here, I am not being critical to Mercouris – he does his work and his research well and is indispensable for that.
Hi Amarynth,
what you say is rational and even likely.
It is what many responsible parties are working to achieve (to put this beast down gently).
The essence of the matter is as you state, “𝘸𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘳 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘺𝘦𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘪𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘧𝘢𝘭𝘭…𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴 𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘩𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘵𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳”
Keep in mind, we are not dealing with rational or moral actors though.
They have been kings of the hill for 500 years. Extremely entitled, narcissistic, and racist. Can their egos tolerate the dominance of the “Asiatic hordes?” They are watching most things leave their fingers now. Too bankrupt to even pay for most necessary Asian supplies (fiat funny money no longer being accepted in Asia?), and much of IMF’s SDR recently allocated to them.
As a notorious king once said, “Après nous, le déluge.”
Will they take one of these series of brinkmanship to a final “live exercise?”
This is the gestalt now.
And worse, in total informational warfare and near-complete secrecy environment (at least in Zone A), we are left to read between the lines.
I agree NATO is a non-issue, especially in Asia-Pacific.
IMO one of purposes of back-to-back Afghan exit and AUKUS was to immediately remove NATO from Asia equation, to simplify the endgame. So now the unstable and highly manipulable Taiwanese elites are the main firebreak they have to manage, should they want to activate the China front. So the stage is set.
Again, I pray you are correct, and all this subsides. We will know within few weeks what they decide.
Huge march and speeches for freeing Julian Assange in London today.
