Western Europe is trapped in a loveless marriage with the serial liar, thief, rapist, killer Anglo-US Empire. She is struggling to have a friendships with her neighbor, but the AngloUS Empire is jealous and pathologically possessive. even if by some miracle they succeeded they would lose much of their army.
They would fall into the trap Russia avoided, it is very expensive to occupy the land of people who detest you.
It would be illegal for Donbass to declare independence under international law promoted by China and Russia.
Nor can Russia invade what is a rebel province of The Ukraine or change the borders. And each day this continues Russia exposes Americas weakness, so the situation suits Russia.

Seems the executive branch went to Europe to try and save NATO. Excuse me – to try and save the dollar. As everyone is pointing out, this whole thing doesn’t work for Europe economically. Uncle Sam seems to be in the extortion business. To call it a tax or “tribute” to the empire would be more appropriate than calling it “trade.” But the US dollar isn’t worth as much lately, and business with Russia and China is growing. What do we make any more in the USA that Europe needs, natural gas? That is our big export, or do we just export dollars? Did you hear that China and Russia were trading in Euros? I think Europe will get their way as they know it is extortion and don’t like it.

Balloon over Hawaii
The importance of this lowly balloon is in the message it floats. Just my opinion but if Russia does attack Hawaii it will be with China. The logic being this will solve the Kuril islands and Taiwan problems, while making Russia and China less vulnerable and the US and Japan less secure. Thus the Middle Kingdom would join the frivolities in the beginning. Big surprise and kept quiet.
Given the time allotted this balloon it is probably not from the US albeit we will not be told just as the Russians coming uncomfortably close to Hawaii was kept quiet until residents with visual started screaming ‘the Russians are coming’. Any attack on Hawaii I would venture is contingent on Russia and China’s subjective tolerance for the evolving Ukraine situation.

Russia and China are coordinating military exercises to threaten not only Taiwan but also Hawaii, according to a senior Japanese defense official who warned the United States to beware of a Pearl Harbor-style surprise attack.

My hunch is that sublaunch balloon of suitable character is possible.
Not very long ago Mercouris opined that the demarcation line between US and Chinese zone of power would settle at, roughly, Hawaii. That’s outrageous the age limits, some of those cats are going stiff after a good 8 hours sleep, if they cant sleep that long then its going to be either a short war or a long headache.
They seem outrageous, but Lee was 55 when he took command. In WW1 some Captains of artillery were 70. Nobody said it’s easy to fight. Under pressure sleep is what you can snatch from a moment when you can. Great Grand-dad was 14 when he joined Ohio Volunteers, 15 when POW, 16 with Sherman and all the way. The main thing is discipline, past experience, and resolve. Nobody in real combat expects to live through it.

Well, “sanity” is a slippery term. Persig, who knew first-hand, said sanity is what one agrees to pretend in order to get out (and stay out) of the asylum…following that idea in logic it seems to mean that when the group is in a particular frame it is “sane” to go along it the group, and insane to oppose it. I won’t name names, but one Disqus commentator I’ve consistently followed, and with whom I have agreed with on some issues, had, out of the blue, wished for Russia to not send in any more gas and for the European industries to die. And people wonder why I have trust issues.
Many readers here have pointed out consistently that the USA (or the UK; could be both) has done what it could to set Russia and Europe apart and to deindustrialize and degenerate Europe sociopolitically so as to prevent it from competing.
And yet, even among those who are aware of this, there’s still commentary on RT wishing for Russia to cut off the gas supply to Europe and destroy its industrial might. Call me uninformed if you will, but it makes my head spin to hear this from voices who normally decry the USA’s imperialist actions.
I still have yet to hear a good answer from anyone as to how giving the US what it wants, however indirectly, would benefit Russia and whether it would be in her (best) interest to do so.

I’m reminded of a comment from another Disqus user who I also frequently follow.
In it, he said that Russia is the only country where he’d agree to go to a McDonald’s since the food is relatively local.
I can only imagine that McDonald’s in Europe falls under similar laws as well.
What got me interested in Europe to begin with, as an American, was their efforts to reduce the use of fake dyes and preservatives in food products sold there. Countless articles have been written discussing how American food companies like Kraft sell food products in the US with certain chemicals that have been banned in Europe, and henceforth European versions of those same products don’t have those chemicals. Case in point, Kraft’s Macaroni and Cheese at one point had E102 and E110, or Yellows 5 and 6.
The concern is that some of these chemicals may have adverse effects in our health. Fake dyes in particular have been accused of triggering hyperactivity and attention problems in children.
Which raises the question – how could Europe pull this off to the degree that the USA could not? Is this somehow the work of lobbyists, and said lobbyists have greater leverage in the US than in Europe?
