So, in other words, this was not Nintendo’s decision, but rather the payment service’s?
On another note, I was going to ask if physical/retail copies of Nintendo Switch games, plus the console and accessories, are still being sold in Russia. Even before the sanctions, I would’ve bought my games physically (but that’s another story).
And it would be a shame if Nintendo pulled out entirely. Last Thursday the demo for the upcoming new Kirby game came out, I downloaded it and enjoyed it. As much as I’m looking forward to the full game on the 25th, the sinking feeling remains in my stomach, wondering how much longer Nintendo will maintain operating in Russia before it joins the same bandwagon as companies like Apple that have completely stopped sales of its products.
Now, if Ninty just sat there and did nothing (unlike the payment service its eShop uses), then would it be any less cowardly than what Sony did?

Is this reasoning legitimate? Is there any evidence to support this notion, or is it part of a stunt to virtue-signal any support for Ukraine?
All I know is, Nintendo’s website doesn’t list Ukraine as one of its regions, nor have I seen any of their games localized in Ukrainian, so I can’t remember there being any business in Ukraine that may be impacted.
I’m not at all worried about companies like McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Starbucks pulling out of Russia – local alternatives may exist that better suit the local tastes and/or refrain from engaging in shady business practices while maintaining near-compatible functionality.
What I do worry of, and with news like this (https://www.rt.com/pop-culture/551547-game-companies-suspend-sales-russia/) is whether certain other companies (I won’t name names) will be allowed back in once the dust settles and if sanctions are lifted.
Then again, in the case of Nintendo and Sony, I can’t imagine console gaming being as prevalent in Russia as PC gaming given the cost and capabilities of PCs and the cost of the games themselves, to say nothing of the open, off-the-shelf nature of the x86 PC architecture.
Russian thinking on the Western self-inflicted economic crisis:
The non-producing service sector makes up 78% of the economy in the US, and 60-75% in the EU (with the exception of Eastern Europe). On the home front in western U.S., English R.T. was cancelled last week. I was upset, but it is understandable: the Empire doesn’t want competing narratives.
But this morning, this morning all Russian programs have been pogromed. Even Masha & Medved!
A quick search and I see that all the cable services have canceled all Russian tv services in the USSA.
I lost it, contacted “my” service provider and started to revert to my childhood expressions: “Wassamatta you, wassamatta me: Wassamatta You?!?” You can’t cancel me; I’m cancelling you.
My wife is happy that service has been stopped as she feels “they” can’t use lists of Russian tv subscribers to now hunt us down. Is it paranoia if “they” really want to hurt us?
Smoothie in his latest blog post talks of, “dehumanization of Russians, especially in Europe… I guess it is time to decide what color should be the stars sewn to clothes of Russians living in the West.”
I also worry what is being done to Russians in Zone A. Industrialized tyrannies during “existential wars of choice” in the last centuries had their patterns of misbehavior.. esp. when war hysteria took hold. What was done to native Americans (reservation camps) is instructive. In the USA of Feb 1942, some Germans, Italians and especially Japanese were hammered, even those who’d been Americans for generations. Perhaps Trumps’ family was prudent to pretend to be of Scandinavian heritage?

Lines that capture the desperate fight or flight response of the world right now ? That is how I would interpret them anyhow, but I am not sure if the poet had this in mind, or the desire to join the Russian military forces and fight the terrible evil… Only the poems final line is questionable, don’t we know by now who those maniacal crazies are to blame ? If not we are surely deluded and foolish.
But perhaps we are living through a once in a lifetime experience, one of epic proportions, beyond geographic borders, beyond peoples, a once in an earth-evolution occurrence, and for this reason there’s ‘no one to blame’.
If this is the case, then it’s a matter beyond our control, also of those who lived before us- all who will come after us. So who is the ‘he’ whose taken control >

I would add that power is a psychic force, and thus unstable, so
whoever lives or rules by power subconsciously knows and lives
in fear of the day of his ‘comeuppance’.
Who is the ‘he’ whose taken control?
The one who is a “master of deceit, far smarter than us”… whoever
it is, it will be someone who knows and plays the game better than
us. I’m interested in the internal drama that occurs within one’s own
being, so it probably doesn’t matter who the ‘he’ is.
I originally closed with a different last line;
“Now he’s taken control, and I’m to blame…”,
Signalling that the protagonist was ready to accept responsibility
for the change in his fortunes, but went with the above transcription,
which is probably the only line that directly reflects some of the
outer events you’ve mentioned, and some of the actors involved.
In this version, however, the protagonist is not yet ready to accept
responsibility for his downfall, and is still looking for “someone to
blame”, though is at a loss to find someone, though not yet ready
to accept responsibility himself.
Pride is a particularly destructive trait and those afflicted by it do not
give it up easily. The last line also reflects someone close to me and
a situation in my own life and so seemed appropriate. Best, D.
Thank you Dimitar, wrapped up in my response to your poem, were the concepts which you have expressed, only I might have put them differently, but the general direction was the same. I decided to leave these aspects out, they are so vast, and focus on the essential points I raised. You know, even I have been contemplating owning a gun in the last days, something I would never, ever have imagined before.
Humanity is at the core as you write,.and don’t we all have at least one person right there, or round the corner to grumble at, struggle with or blame? Holidays on the yacht melt all that away well, or mind-enhancing substances perhaps. Self reliance and responsibility are escapable, and always were.
I do think it matters who the “he”, is, as objective knowledge content however, but seen beyond materialist science ? Without this, do we run the risk of losing the battle ?
I will stop now, and perhaps someone else has an observation, or thought to add, I hope so… (I have the fix the curtain rail, dig the garden, do the shopping, pray, pray, pray, socialize and laugh a lot when the opportunity arises; btw, the poem had a great get-up-and-go humorous edge!!)

All I would add is that Russians had something intangible and spiritual transferred to them from the second Rome. The true source of the Hate. Even the heights of West could not match that which is found in the warm heart of the rustic and rough Russian. I am reminded of Brave New World where the lower classes, I think it was the gammas and epsilons were conditioned as children to hate learning and beauty. Is the deliberate end goal here to shut people off from their spiritual core ? To fill them with such fear, anger and hatred that they become hollow men, easily led, willing to support any measure, no matter how cruel or illogical.
It’s alarming to me that in the arts, music, literature, presumably educated / cultured people have allowed themselves to be drawn in to an anti Russian hate filled murmuration.. Elites ( elite criminals / psychopaths / conmen ) have always manipulated people, but the methods have been honed over the centuries and now we seem to be subjected to perpetual psychological conditioning – a daily deluge without respite. I have a feeling that working people, with their feet on the ground are able to see through it better than the ‘ alphas’ – e.g. see the Ottawa truckers.

It doesn’t surprise me the highly educated and upper classes are hating Russians the most. High education and/or intelligence with weak spirituality often leads to cruelty.. and they also have the most to lose in terms of quality of living. Oh man, do I have anything to say? Yes, I do.
The garlic experiment in the tropics seems to be working. The story was .. we cannot grow garlic in the tropics because the garlic needs to know that it has been through a winter season and we do not have a winter season. We had the first summer rains today – it smelt divine! So, some clever folks (and I) put the seed garlic in the fridge for about 6 weeks and then plant. It is my joy to report that my garlic is making good heads! Before, it just made a long growing thing with a root. Nice enough, but not garlic. I fooled those suckers and I have garlic heads. (Our season for growing these are about September, when the seed garlic went into the fridge to about now, when it is not quite ready for harvest, but almost there!)
Making progress with growing tomatoes in the tropics as well. The secret is.. How Ripe? So, tomatoes here mold as soon as the summer season and humidity starts. But, they grow well, they flower well and they fruit well. But then, they mold.
So, got the secret .. Pick ’em before they mold, but when they are fully swollen – still green. Fried Green Tomatoes, Green tomato sauce, Salsa, Pickles, Green tomato anything. This has saved me a bunch of bucks .. I need to buy salad tomatoes now for fresh salad and to make real tomato sauce – traditional pasta sauce.
These are good things! Things that make the world go to hell!
