I remember back in the 1980’s hearing the Western media gush over this “hero” Lech Walesa. The man they said was going to bring “freedom and democracy ” to Poland through “peaceful protests”. Knowing the type of governments we had/have in the West and how unreliable Western media had become my BS meter starting loudly going off. I saw his movement as an early Western plotted “color revolution” to me. As time has passed I was proved right. Now that stalwart “democrat” is back in the news supporting nazis in Ukraine ,the descendants of the groups that butchered around a 100,000 Poles in WW2 (his own people). Considering that there are fundamental qualities that make Russia and America fraternal empires, at least in some historic and foundational sense, it seems to me that the Russian experience of the war against fascism (Great Patriotic War) and the Us Civil War are vaguely similar. Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced the interest of Moscow’s partners from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS countries in developing cooperation with the Sirius Center through their scientific and educational organizations.
“Those who want to develop relations with us are also very interested in the Sirius site. I mean, first of all, the countries of the SCO, BRICS,” TASS reports.his words during a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Talent and Success Foundation.
The head of state noted that “some colleagues are impressed by what they saw here and want to develop contacts with Sirius through their ministries, departments, specific schools, universities, research centers.”
He also drew attention to the fact that the countries of the SCO and BRICS are huge states with a population of one billion and world-class achievements in many areas. “It seems to me that all this should be used in the best possible way,” Putin summed up.
Earlier, the president considered it necessary for the Sirius Educational Center to support the development of talents among children in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.
Prior to this, during a visit to the Sirius educational center, Putin said that strengthening Russia’s technological sovereignty is always important, and especially at the present time.
History
Sirius was established in 2019 in part of the Imereti Lowlands which belonged to Adlersky City District of the city of Sochi. This is the area which was developed before the 2014 Winter Olympics. It was first subordinated to Sochi, and eventually on 22 December 2020 a law designating Sirius as the first ever federal territory was adopted and signed.[2]

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) suffered a comprehensive defeat in Zmein, also known as the Serpent Island, 20 hectares of rocky land opposite the Romanian city of Sulima, 140 kilometers from Odessa.
AFU had formed an assault landing group, consisting of dozens of aircraft, and the mythical Bayraktar TB2 UAVs. Their actions were covered by helicopters of the naval aviation of the AFU, as well as by MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters. The troops landed on the last few “Centaur” ships remaining in the Ukrainian Navy. Most likely, the Russian garrison on the island at that moment was minimal or completely absent.
The result of the operation of the AFU to seize the island of Zmeiny, Ukraine lost 14 planes and helicopters, 30 drones and three boats with troops on board.
The Russian military assumed – or had accurate information – that the AFU would hit Zmeiny on May 9th. The direction of the blow was also generally quite clear. Russian AWACS A-50 aircraft were constantly in the air in order to notice the advancement of Ukrainian assault groups and aviation in time. Groups of Russian Aerospace Forces fighters were on standby at airfields in Crimea.
The rest was most likely a matter of technique. And “Bayraktars”, and helicopters, and boats are low-speed targets for fighter and attack aircraft. It takes them 20-30 minutes to fly from the Crimea to Snake Island. The Ukrainian troops were allowed to land on the island, and then they covered it with a missile attack from nearby ships of the Russian Navy. Ukrainian cover aircraft were destroyed in the air.
“Kyiv needed a high-profile victorious operation on May 9, the most festive day for Russia,” retired captain 1st rank Sergei Grachev told the VZGLYAD newspaper. There was a minimum of Russian contingent and means of defense – it would seem, easy prey in military terms, especially since part of the garrison was withdrawn from Zmeiny Island as unnecessary. Two circumstances were not taken into account :
the presence of the Russian fleet and
the heroism of Russian soldiers.
Sources in the Russian law enforcement agencies also reported about the British special services. There is information, in particular, that Zelensky personally gave the order to attack Zmeiny Island and demanded that a “media result” be achieved by May 9. According to already confirmed information, Valery Zaluzhny and his General Staff were against this suicidal operation, the idea of which Zelensky was prompted by his British advisers. The finale of this action was to be a joint statement about the so-called victory of the British Prime Minister Johnson and Zelensky.
