Dear Dimitar, all the best to you too and everyone else. It was lovely to have one of Ioan’s drawings used in the last cafe. Lots of memories to treasure here at the Vineyard of the Saker. As the site will be “frozen” at midnight UTC tomorrow – we can still all come back over the next year and enjoy reading old posts etc. thanks to Herb who will continue to run the “frozen” site and the Saker. While it’s not unusual to refer to the US as a “civilization”, a rigorous view might not agree…the US has always been a foundationally disingenuous organization focused on plunder and exploitation. It might be thought of as a forward operating base of a pirate thalassocracy based in London. Is that consistent with a civilization, or perhaps does it have more in common with organized crime?
Of course, there are institutions inside the pirate base that have civizational roots, and these assist in the deceptions inside the simulacrum. For example, when Shakespeare is done at Ashland, Mozart played by an orchestra…these help form a tapestry of lies. But not a civilization.
