Then, following the other pics, carefully dis-assemble them, strip all the jets and other components, give them a quick clean.

Get a nice clean stainless crock pot, add 150 ml of biological washing powder, and add warm water while stirring to 3/4 full.

Place the ingredients in the crock pot and fill remaining space with warm water.

Place on the gas ring and bring to the boil, then turn the gas down to minimum and simmer gently for 20 minutes.

Turn the gas off and allow to stand, cool, and marinade overnight.

Make proper man coffee

The Personal Computer – part two

(before I get stuck in too far, it is already obvious from comments and messages that not everyone agrees with my take, that’s fine, everything I say is always of necessity and personal viewpoint, but that does not necessarily make it invalid, just because it is not your viewpoint, just because it differs from yours… these things are / were true at the time, both to me, and those who I met)

So, in part one we hopefully got the point across that the PC as we know it today, and the OS, is really an iterative function that survived 25+ years of marketing and sales, rather than an iterative function that evolved through 25+ years of refinement and development and natural selection.00717_0015

If you watched The Pirates of Silicon Valley (itself a retelling rather than a fly on the wall CCTV compilation) hopefully you came away with the idea that Gates and Microsoft won simply because Gates and Microsoft excelled at “business”.

Don’t forget you could just go out and buy a personal computer in 1975, the Altair 8800, this was already out there in the environment that Woz and Jobs and Gates et al found themselves in.

But stories like these are incomplete, in ways that you won’t understand without also having watched things like James Burke’s “Connections” series from the seventies.

You also have to follow stories like BBC Horizon “Now the Chips are Down” from 1977, talking about the “Fairchildren” and Intel and so on, and stories about the development of spinning rust, hard disk technology. And none of the above are sufficient unless you also watched the 8 part series BBS, The Documentary, from 2001, particularly part 8, compression, the true story of PKZip… so many shades of Q-DOS and Microsoft.

And out of this frothing sea of pre-biotic stew, life crept and crawled ashore.

I’m in my fifties, and that is as young as you can be and remember the introduction of consumer devices featuring the electronic transistor in the commercial marketplace…. so in many ways it is also as young as you can be and also remember the silicon chip, and computing, and then personal computing, all coming in for the first time.

So, hell, I have a dial up modem ring-tone on my Samsung Note2, you’d be amazed how few actually know what that noise is….

It’s a bit like meeting some chick in her late thirties, you only have her word on how many cocks she has ridden, how many three/ four / moresomes, how many porn flicks, whereas I grew up with her, I know ALL that shit.

You get some more data points, for example you watch all those films I mention above, which will take you 10 or 12 hours, and now you think you know everything, you don’t, you are just more informed and less ignorant.

You will never get the perspective I have, unless you also went to school, and they taught you about ASCII 5 hole punched tape and matrices, because this was the shit you were going to need to know, in this new world of computers… probably barely 6 years after those schoolroom lessons I had my own 8 bit personal computer, and you typed shit into it on an alphanumeric keyboard to make it work…. to this day I have never either actually PERSONALLY used a punched tape or matrix to program or input data into a computer.

And don’t get me started on hacker vs cracker, in fact, nobody puts it much better than dick osband… http://cheshirecatalyst.com/identity.html

SO, we are talking about Personal Computers, and in many ways this Socket 2011 i7 X79 SSD Win7 job I am typing this on is doing EXACTLY the same job as my first 8 bit monstrosity and acoustic coupler giving me 300 cps and 4/500 quid a month phone bills into various BBS’s etc.

It is allowing and facilitating me communicating with other individuals, too dispersed around the planet to simply walk out my door and 10 minutes down the road to meet.

As Personal Computers advanced, again, my early ones did remarkably similar things, I played games, I played with editing graphics, I played with music, I played with I/O… in many ways it was the same device you’d find at work, was that a work computer or a personal computer, good question.

Because although “personal computer” has one meaning, which is a computer in your home that is not your work computer on your desk at work that your employer owns, it is your personal car, not your company car, it originally had another meaning entirely.

The original meaning of “personal computer” meant “not a thin client or dumb terminal“, eg processing etc was done locally, not remotely on the mainframe.

My mobile phone works this way, it is just a thin client / dumb terminal for the telco “mainframe” network of towers and switching and routing centres etc.

If we are stood 400 yards away from each other on the opposite sides of a river, and the telco “mainframe” goes down, what we now call “no signal”, then we cannot talk to each other or send SMS to each other, these are not “personal” voice and SMS communication devices in the way that two walkie talkies would be.

This is a vital point that you really need to think about and absorb, before we can move on to part 3.

The modern analogy to the personal computing revolution that my generation lived through, is if you could go out and buy a mobile phone, no sim, no telco contract, no nothing, and talk DIRECTLY to any other person on the planet.

DIRECTLY in this case means the call goes directly to them, it doesn’t depend on or route through the telco system at all.

IN THEORY mesh networking could ultimately do this.

In practice the middle ground is no voice calling of any kind, nor 2g, or 3g, or anything else, just wireless network data comms and VOIP, as far as the network is concerned your VOIP call is routed the same way your email is, over the same circuits, with possibly some QOS to differentiate the two, but that is about it.

Once you can grasp this, the universal personal communications device that requires no sim and no telco and no contract and no usage billing or allowances, and nobody else’s permission to use, but makes direct calls to whoever you wish, wherever they are, then you are ready for part three.

…. to be continued….

The Personal Computer – part one

Back in the day, I had an Acorn A5000, it needed an OS upgrade, so I contacted Acorn and they sent me, free of charge, a small packed with four EEPROM chips, and that was how you upgraded the OS, remove the four RISCOS 3.0 chips, insert the four RISCOS 3.5 chips, job done.

Speaking as an engineer, sticking the OS in ROM like this is a wonderful thing, it pretty much makes it immune to malware corruption and so on, so I can really *get* the fact that the designers of the Acorn / Archimedes range, being engineers first and foremost, saw this as a fantastic design feature.

The fact is, MS *could* do this, it’s not much different to having the gold build release which is now on DVD, and all the myriad updates downloaded separately, but, you couldn’t actually *apply* them to the OS, you’d have to LOAD them at boot, not PATCH the files in question, still, it could be done, if you were prepared to re-write windows from the ground up.

The middle ground here is flashing a BIOS with an updated later version, it’s not technically impossible, or even very hard to do, the only issue is once you start out from a different design ethos, which is what IBM did with the PC spec, you can no longer do it and remain within the PC spec, technically, you are no longer selling what was once known as an “IBM Compatible PC”

If you have read my recent shit about lightweight cheap craptops and windows 8 and downgrades to windows 7, you’ll be forgiven for having a lot of sympathy for what I am about to say.

The IBM PC spec included the fundamental principle that you could take a bunch of inert but compatible hardware, add initially on floppy, later on CD, now on DVD, the OS install media, and end up with a working PC.

*perhaps* you would then have to whack in some separate floppy / CD / DVD that contained drivers, to make certain components work, or work better, but, and this is crucial, these installers functioned from within a working PC with an already working windows environment and desktop.

*perhaps* your network card would not work without these drivers, perhaps your graphics card would not show the full feature set, perhaps the hard disk worked in PIO mode, but the bottom line was despite all these, you had a working PC, WIMP GUI and all.

So even if you had these relatively minor issues, you could resolve them, trivially, onsite.

Now, going back to the cheapola windows 8 craptops with UEFI etc, (if you haven’t read those posts, perhaps you should now, or this may not make sense) since by definition they utterly fail on every level to do what it says in red text above, particularly the bold underlined sentence at the end, and by utterly fail I mean it is outright impossible to do, not just difficult, or technical, or time consuming, but impossible, to my mind, these devices cannot be called PC’s.

Technically they have more in common with a tablet, forget the fact that they have a keyboard and come in a clamshell case and so on, the only way they can work is if you blow a disk image on to the disk, specifically tailed for that specific set of hardware, at build time.

  1. No longer is it a set of inert components, now the hard disk has an image blown to it.
  2. No longer can you get a functioning windows environment *just* from standard OS install media and inert components alone.

This is a pretty good description of a tablet, or a gaming console, or a set top box, or any other specialised device.

I will ask you to note that throughout the IBM Compatible PC period, which to my mind started with MS Windows 3.1, at no point where servers ever referred to as PC’s, even though they were in many ways broadly similar, and shared many common components, and even common physical characteristics, definitions, layouts, such as ATX etc.

People did not lie so much back then, even for example Dell and Compaq, who had a nasty habit of rewiring cabling a different way from the ATX standard, would correctly call their device a PC, but would not make the false claim that it was an ATX device.

Today, Toshiba and Samsung and probably all the rest of them too make a whole range of devices that are cheap and nasty, cut down UEFI, and are not PC’s.

I haven’t been able to say anything about this before, but thanks to Build 2014 Microsoft has finally let half the cat out of the bag, now you can choose between the truly crap Windows 8 “tiles”, or the classic start menu system, and Sinofsky is history.

See, the thing is, deals were done, and it is the nature of things that it takes a long time from deals being done to the final effects being manifested.

But one of the deals that were done was to do with the saturation of the PC market, nobody was ignorant of the fact that any old XP machine could be given a new lease of life with an SSD, and really, windows 7 only sold because is was pre-installed on new boxen, almost nobody went out and bought the DVD.

Intel wanted to get rid of the BIOS and go with UEFI, it’s cheaper, and allows for hardware to be made more platform agnostic, a north-bridge chip-set written for a X79 can’t be used in much anything else, a generic 32 bit wide bus controller could conceivably be used in almost anything, depending on size and power consumption.

ARM and Samsung were eating everyone else’s lunch, and the nightmare scenario for everyone was a practical and efficient and affordable FPGA, just whack a bunch of them together with interconnects and tell them, you will be the bus controller, you will be the CPU, you will be the gfx subsystem…

Meanwhile Asus and HP and Toshiba and everyone else are looking at the end of the PC hardware market, fuck it, XP and an SSD in an XP era box is good enough, so build costs have to be slashed, if fuckers won’t buy a 1,000 quid laptop, we’ll just have to build a 300 quid laptop, and don’t forget all the OLPC (on laptop per child) hoo hah was doing the rounds.

But, put a like for like OS on this new breed of hardware, and people are going to complain BITTERLY about how slow and crap it is, compared to for example a stinkpad T series.

In fact, the only way you could get marketing to make these things seem attractive is to build the same thing and put Andoid on them, oh.. wait…where is my IE?

And so it was, that the hardware sellers are the tail wagging the dog, responsible for the vast majority of MS operating system and office suite sales, so they say to MS, we want this NEW operating system to look and feel different to the OLD operating system, that way, people cannot compare the two, and secretly, even if they do, they will blame fucking windows, and not our sucky hardware.

Windows 8 is a *good* operating system, put it on *good* hardware and it fucking rocks, you do realise that Windows Server 2012 is just Windows 8 once the first stage bare install is done, then you start adding modules like DHCP / DNS controllers, AD controller, SQL server etc…. so Windows 8 is at heart a fucking server quality OS, it is not a piece of shit.

But, Sinofsky and others agreed to make it look “different to windows 7” because their biggest by far customers in volume terms, hardware builders, demanded it.

I was even told, though I give this somewhat less credibility, that Office365 came from the same place, because frankly trying to run a local copy of Office 2010 on these crapware devices is a lesson in pain and patience.

If you look carefully at the marketing, nowhere will you find these devices actually described as “Personal Computers”, instead they talk about mobile computing, which could as well be applied to my samsung phone… it’s the same as the dearth of “ATX” in blurbs that dell and compaq were punting out a few years ago when they were chasing the desktop biz market, and wanted to undercut everyone else by 200 notes a box.

And so, to conclude part one;

  1. It is important to realise that really good choices made by engineers (put the OS in EEPROM) can fucking bomb when it comes to marketing, because suddenly nobody ELSE can market THEIR shit, using your shit as their platform.
  2. It is important to realise that really clever choices such as the IBM Compatible PC and ATX allowed for a great deal of flexibility, Compaq could rewire the apparently ATX format molex cables and still legitimately claim IBM Compatible PC, they just did not claim it was an ATX, just like almost no craptop claims what chipset it used, but note the previous post on the tosh and stinkpad, the stinkpad DID list the chipset used, it said Intel QM77 Express.
  3. It is important to realise that what an OS looks like and what is does is as important as where you put it, so that other people can use it as their platform in their marketing shit.
  4. It is important to realise that for the bulk buyer, EVERYTHING is customisable, NO supplier, no matter how big, can say there it is, take it or leave it…. a famous example of this was Samsung LCD tellys bought through the Dixons/Curry/Comet group had a cut down operating system compared to the ones bought direct from Samsung or a smaller reseller, which is 100% of how the 46″ 7 series in the Comet window was 200 quid cheaper than the 46″ 7 series in the small resellers window…. you were not buying the same fucking thing.

Windows 8 is actually a great OS, better than Windows 7, IF YOU BUY THE FUCKING OEM INSTALL DVD and DIY, and it is the work of moments to kill the tiles and bring back the classic start menu.1451_35b3effb0e55fde0acf18553e6e3868480

Back in the day, there was a utility that Joe Public could use, to cut the Win98se installed disk footprint down to 17 megabytes, yes, you read that right, megabytes,it was magic for embedded systems that would otherwise have struggled to run windows 3.1…. those tools are still available, just not to joe public, and the win8 install on a new 300 quid craptop has very little in common with the one you get from an OEM DVD.

Even on a cut to the bone minimum spec Atom based device, the BIOS and chipset will account for 2% of the component cost…. call it ten bucks a unit, if your production run is 50,000 units, there is a half a million dollars right there to chip away at, and if you can leverage that and also buy a cut down and fucked up hard disk, with a weedier than wholesale onboard chipset and drive interface code, and save another ten bucks a disk, but it doesn’t matter, because you no longer have a requirement to do a bare metal install, and so on and so forth.

Now Microsoft, you want to come to this party, and be the per-installed OS on this range of 50k units, and the 5 sister ranges, which are basically all the same thing with some arbitrary marketing crippling going on, well, there’s  quarter of a million sales of windows and office up for grabs, OK, we just need you to go ahead and alter this a bit… cheers…

Device A B and C are identical, apart from the performance and price, and turning A into B into C is literally identical to remapping the ECU in your car, sure, pay the licence and we will unlock the other core, pay another licence and we will unlock the core clock multiplier by another two x.

The difficulty here is that you as the consumer will make only one single purchase, will not be aware of any of these back room shenanigans, and will do exactly what the craptop manufacturers want, THEY made a sale, YOU blame Microsoft and Windows 8.

… to be continued…

Stepping stones to hell.

Filed under: Wimminz — Tags: — wimminz @ 8:49 pm

It is fact, and it is truth, that from place A decision A1 which leads you to place B is a perfectly valid and sane and optimal decision, and from place B decision B1 leads you to a place C, and so on.

It is also fact, and also truth, that you can find yourself in place W, the only options you can see are more valid and sane and optimal decisions, which will lead you to X, Y and Z….

and yet….

… simultaneously, you can find yourself in place W, and find that only a morass of insanity and stupidity can possibly explain how you got there, from place A.

“The road to hell is paved with good intentions”

Sadly we have also come to a place where the person in place W can all in their defence the fact that none of the decisions A1 to V1 inclusive, when taken individually, which is they way they took them, were perfectly rational and normal and legal and it’s really not my fault so help me out here.

And in truth, it’s hard not to have some sympathy for that argument, or the person who finds themselves in place W, but there is a difference between feeling sympathy, and excusing.

You and you alone must carry the responsibility for being in place W, and all those decisions A1 to V1 inclusive.

———————————————————————-

If “place W” is the cell you spend your last night in before heading out to see madam guillotine in the morning, that text in purple will be applied to you.

If “place W” is a senior position in government or finance or service industry, it won’t.

I have long maintained that if you are hit by a bullet, it makes not the slightest difference to you, or the wound, or anything else practical, if it was a deliberate enemy act or an accidental blue on blue chance in a million.

But there comes a point when it comes to mitigating risk a, so Nukinnd consequences  where you go from “I guess it is *possible* that could happen” to “It’s only a question of time“, and that fact is if you make decisions in succession as described above, A1 to V1 inclusive, then it is only a question of time.

It only becomes I guess it is possible if each subsequent decisions factors in ALL the previous positions and places, and the additional overall command choice is made, is this going to move me nearer to A or to z, if things go wrong?

We are essentially describing the difference between men, and wimminz and niggerz, I’ve talked before about decision trees.

Even if you have NO other information, simply choosing the option that maximises the future possible choices is always the best option, so nuking Milford Haven in September is better than nuking it tomorrow, something may arise in June that makes me want to go there, I can’t imagine what right now, but that’s the whole fucking point innit.

The options in case of course have to be real, not illusory, so giving me the option of passing up on a fuck with the local village bike, and passing up on a fuck with some gorgeous billionairess Ukrainian sex bomb are not the same thing.

Similarly the offer of a fuck now, and a fuck tomorrow, are not the same thing.

Invariably, when hindsight says that, for example, decision H1 was a bad choice, what it really means is that neither were all the options actually considered, nor were all of the options that were considered unweighted, and considered only on their own merits, and not on a perceived end goal.

You may have seen the video doing the rounds of an Aventador ploughing into a small cheap french car in London, sure, the Lambo driver was clearly exceeding the speed limit, but also clearly the other driver cut across the traffic.

http://youtu.be/kfS8iz2NaLE

Neither of these are uncommon in city traffic, indeed you can argue that if you tried to do everything properly you would not make any progress at all, but, it doesn’t affect the fact that neither driver actually thought that their current actions had about 5 seconds to get them into an “accident” and a situation that neither one of them would have voluntarily chosen.

In common with most if not all of the infamous Russian dash cam car crash videos, once you replay events there is a crushing inevitability about them all, and yet, none of them deliberately set out to wrap it up.

I was always “lucky” riding down the roads on my motorsickle, I’m still here with two arms and two legs, but you get lucky by always having as many options as possible about where on that road you were going to go…. this is not an analogy to the text in red above about even if you have no other data, always choose the thing that gives you the most future options, this is EXACTLY that very same thing, just one of millions of actual practical applications of it.

If you leave yourself the room and therefore time to go left or right or just put it down and sit on it, you got so many more options that the other guy who crowds the offside rear of the car in front looking to overtake.

I know, I’ll get on my mountain bike and do this 10 foot jump on to concrete, I mean really, just how many options are you leaving yourself, bike meets nuts, face meets concrete, arms meet street furniture, etc etc… oh yeah, and that one chance of “I pull this stunt off”

FOR

FUCKING

WHAT

Did these cunts not grow up playing and injuring themselves and so learning the lesson that some “stunts” are just plain fucking stupid????

Apparently not.

Rand is quoted as saying something along the lines that you can deny reality, but you can’t deny the effects of denying reality.

Rand was wrong, because there is a difference between denying reality and actually putting it to the fucking test.

I must have been six or seven when my dad warned me that a knife I was playing with was sharp, I said no it isn’t dad, and proceeded to prove it by drawing the blade across the palm of my other hand, and watched with horror as it opened up and blood flowed out and it started to hurt, a lot…

Sympathy my ass, he just looked at me and shook his head in disgust and said “stupid boy”

Same shit with falling out of trees and shooting each other with bows and arrows and air rifles and throwing stones and cutting down trees and setting fire to things and building dams and all the rest.

If you didn’t get the opportunity to fuck up in small and unimportant and painful ways, you didn’t learn just how much fucking up could hurt, or how much longer that hurt lasted than any short term wins of gains you got from doing the thing in question anyway…

You know, like, It’s not my fault that based upon my (truthful) answers to 300 OKCupid questions, it has decided that the only thing that gets an 80% or greater match is 16, slim body, blonde hair, pretty face, and monster tits, or that no black chick ever scores more than 0%, or that all the chicks with red dyed hair or hoopy earrings come up as 99% enemy.

It’s just that I made enough mistakes along the way to learn some lessons, so now my answers aren’t what they once might have been.

I’ll level with you, there is a reason that the man (me) my psycho skank ho ex described to the secret family courts as violent and dangerous and aggressive didn’t go from being fucking angry but in control to losing my temper and getting medieval on her ass and basically fucking up all her shit for life.

The reason was the stepping stones of reasonable response and escalation to her response and escalation would soon see me at a place where only a morass of insanity and stupidity can explain how I got there, from where I was 24 hours earlier, and the reason I could see that was I had already learned the smaller and less expensive lessons.

My psycho skank ho ex, she’d have wound up a T5 paraplegic, and regretted it, and not understood how it could possibly have happened, because she never ever learned the smaller and less expensive lessons, and the big lessons only come by and by now and again, and then it is too late.

Child of our time

It’s one of those everlasting quandaries, you know damn well what the average income is around here, you know damn well what the average cost of various things from cars and houses to a night out is around here, and you can’t reconcile the two.

http://www.westernmorningnews.co.uk/House-prices-South-West-rise-2016/story-16450981-detail/story.html

but if you look at the work going…

http://jobs.thisisdevon.co.uk/cgi-bin/advsearch?search_emp_mkt_cd=LO&job_title_keywords=driver+ttttt&job_title_match=%22ANY%22

There is quite frankly no fucking way people doing those jobs can afford the lifestyle you see around you…. enter the credit lifestyle, suddenly everything becomes clear, the 500 quid a month to the mortgage, with your house as an ATM, the 300 quid a month to the BMW finance company, etc etc etc.

Unless you’re 25 or under, or a single divorced older man, sure, they may well be in debt, student loans and 4k on the credit card, but the whole credit lifestyle is a step removed from what is attainable, because guess what, the whole credit lifestyle is based on “home ownership”, and the young have zero chance.

This is actually a problem for the credit industry, because frankly speaking 95% of it is based upon “home ownership” as the keystone, take that away and the whole thing collapses, but the reality is the credit industry is like a record shop that only sells Max Bygraves and Frank Sinatra records, the demographic is ageing and dying, and there are no new customers.

If there are 100 houses in my street, and 50 of them are owned by landlords letting them out, then sure, the HOUSING market is doing fine, but the “home ownership” market isn’t, and this is an important differential to notice, because the tenant cannot use that house as an ATM, and then go and get a BMW at 300 quid a month.

You just cut “the economy” by 50%.

The “divide” is in many ways as arbitrary as being catholic in a protestant town or black in a while town, you are excluded because of something you have no control over, but in this case it is primarily your age.

I know someone not 3 miles away who got married in their early 20’s, bought a house on a mortgage for 7,950 pounds, which was quite doable when you were a mechanic at the then Devon General Bus Company, they are still together and now about retired and in the same house, the house next door just sold for 265,000, in effect they have had access to a “free” quarter of a million pounds, using the house as an ATM, but the music has stopped, nobody not already on the bandwagon can afford to join the dance now, and so next door has been bought by a landlord, who is going to split it into two flats and let them out…

There will not be a new BMW and a new Merc on *that* driveway any more.

If you are under 25, it isn’t even a case of waiting until you are 35, the ship in question, the “home ownership” credit economy, has sailed, and it is sailing away faster than you can swim after it.

There is therefore a lifestyle gulf, or chasm, between one generation and the next, with here and there a few trying to bridge the gap with the bank of mom and dad using their home as an ATM to fund the deposit on junior’s home, but junior isn’t joining the same club with the house as an ATM for the next 30 years, junior is just buying steerage on the last ship to leave the dock.

It’s a Ponzi scheme, pure and simple, and in common with all Ponzi schemes, those who are “investing” in it are full of bigging themselves up while it works, and full of shock and anger and vitriol and innocence when it blows up in their faces, meanwhile everyone who was excluded from it screams schadenfreud…. and bigs themselves up for not participating in a party they were never invited to anyway.

Madoff and his attitude to the future is not an exception, he is how the entire credit based economy is, they are all Madoff’s

Hence all the current panic, and desperate measures the guvvmint is introducing to try and keep the ball rolling, but, it doesn’t work, it CANNOT work, because by definition it cannot work, that is what a bubble or a Ponzi scheme is at heart, the very antithesis of anything sustainable.

We do effectively have a two tier society, those who live on credit, and those who do not, and the “standard of living” of those who do not falls *dramatically* short of those who do.

Comparisons are always flawed, but if you look at me and my brother you see me, who had a trade, and who worked hard, periodically, with lots of period interspersed where I just laid back, I was irresponsible and so on and so forth, whereas he kept his nose to the corporate grindstone, he didn’t learn a trade, he learned “management”, in essence, he worked within the Ponzi scheme, most of his working output contributed to it.

Today I am debt free sat in a dive of a flat that is quite warm and comfortable, haven’t got dressed yet even though it is a working day and I am being paid (fuck all…lol) as my diary is empty.

Today he has a small manor house cum farm, he is still working, he has to, and I dread to think what levels of debt he still operates under, but certainly many hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Yes, one was responsible and respectable and put his nose to the corporate grindstone and did the whole get married and buy a house shit, and one was a tosser who picked up a trade or two along the way and enjoyed life.

But I don’t think those are REASONS for the difference in current lifestyle, I think they are just symptoms, I think the reasons are quite simply that he was a loyal member of the ponzi debt/credit club from the day he started work, and the biggest loan or debt of any kind that I ever signed was two or three thousand to buy a fucking motorsickle….

His LIFESTYLE and “standard of living” is much higher than mine, but his security is little if any different, he isn’t working now because he wants to, he simply has no choice, he tried to retire several years ago…

Now that in effect it is too late, it’s all downhill from here bro, he is starting to regret all the time spent working at the corporate coalface, and all the time not spent with family.

But, he and I are the lucky ones, we had the choice, in his case he took it and enjoyed all the benefits, in my case I rejected it and enjoyed all the benefits, if you’re under 25, that ship already sailed.

You must look at us both with envy, and disgust, and contempt.

You are a child of our time, I am not, I, and all the assholes like my brother who worked within the Ponzi scheme, are from a different era.

You’re *right* to envy us, I wouldn’t fucking swap with you.

It’s like a month in Siam in 1952 with a thousand US Dollars in your pocket, it ain’t 1952 any more, it ain’t much money any more, it ain’t Siam any more, and it ain’t all that being the white man any more, the sell by date has passed.

I fucked that bitch when she was sweet and 16, tore that hymen up with my cock and I was the first cock in her cunt and in her ass, and pounded that shit, but those days are gone, now she is in her 30’s and a lying skank ho and anything that was worth having is a distant memory.

4 more days until the end of the tax year here in the UK, and the mortgage laws get even tougher, still not a fraction of what they were when I and that bus mechanic started out, but tough enough even the bank of mom and dad can’t help you.

Now we are in a place where it is literally a valuable/viable strategy to owe money to the guvvmint for things like Council Tax, provided you play it right so you are never their top priority, because there already isn’t enough Court time or Council revenue officer time to chase anything except the easiest to target 75%… the most egregious cases, not the ones who say I am terribly sorry and terribly grateful for all you do, but I do not have the money to pay this bill in full, but I am able to pay 25% of it, and CRUCIALLY, you do pay that 25%… at least they are getting SOMETHING from you.

Crucially for those who drank the cool aid, as a friend of mine discovered to his cost the last time there was a crunch, the mortgage and loan lenders first chase those who CAN pay in full, even if it means wiping the poor bastards out completely.

The guy who bought the house for 10,000 in 1982 who still lives there and now owes 80k and it has a market value of 200 gets foreclosed, the guy who bought the one next door for 10k in ’82 and now owes 180k gets left at the back of the queue, for now….

This is important, because it sets an absolute limit on how much longer this game of musical chairs can keep going, this is the real demographics timebomb.

The kids growing up today will be so used to being refused any and all kinds of credit at every turn, that by the time someone decides that they are worth lending money to, they will no longer be interested in a life of indentured servitude, maybe you’ll talk them into to borrowing the equivalent of two or three thou for a used motorsickle… and that won’t keep this kind of economy going…

Laptop lifesavers….

In my night job I get asked a lot about downgrading new laptops to Windows 7.

I have just done my last one, not worth it anymore.

Thankfully, because I am smart, which just means I have been burned in the past, and learned my lessons, as soon as I get a new machine the very first thing I do is pull the hard disk and take a full image using Macrium Reflect.

If you do not do this, stop, do not pass go, do not go any further, do not do anything else.

I can’t stress that bit above in red enough.

The reason I can’t stress it enough is we have gone back to the bad old days of the winmodem, and there is an actual reason that Lenovo Thinkpad T series laptops start and £650, and Toshiba Satellite C50’s of the same size start at £325.

The reason is the components used in the Toshiba are UTTER shit, every possible corner is cut, and the fucking things are deployed with a bare bones (not even full spec) UEFI BIOS, not a proper one, and hidden partitions containing the Win8 install.

Make no mistake, pull the hard disk, wipe it and all partitions, reinstall it in the laptop, pop in a genuine MS Windows 8 install DVD, and you will have a brick that refuses to even see the fucking hard disk.

No, it’s not because the HD has Primary / Dynamic / GPT setup, you can create the fucking partitions manually ready for the install and it still won’t work.

That’s cos the Satellite comes with a disk with 5 partitions, 4 of them hidden from the user..

  • 1 gig NTFS system drive, hidden
  • 100 MB no name FAT32 LBA, hidden
  • 128 MB <no name> NTFS, hidden
  • 450 gig NTFS main partition visible to the user
  • 10 gig NTFS recovery volume, hidden

Yes, the bitch is looking, via UEFI, at those two small hidden partitions, one FAT32 LBA and one NTFS, to even SEE the fucking hard disk.

Even OpenSUSE 13.1 won’t install to one of these bastards.

So at this point, unless you have that Macrium drive image, you are TOTALLY fucked, because the only install media is in that hidden recovery partition, there is no recovery DVD, even if there was, it’s the same as a Win 8 DVD, it won’t fucking work if those two small hidden partitions are missing or damaged.

The Toshiba website doesn’t provide you with any repair or recovery methods or downloads either….not *merely* a case of them being lazy, there is literally no way, they would have to provide a disk image and tell you to pull the disk, put it in a docking station, and blow the image to it, which is how they build the fucking things.

Now, while we are on the fucking subject…

Starting this little cunt for the first time, it sets up windows for the first start, choose your region etc, this is FROM THE FACTORY, and it takes a fucking HOUR PLUS to actually get the cunt to boot to the desktop.

Once it has gotten to the desktop, expect at least another 30 minutes of waiting, while you think it is frozen, for it to finishing the first run setup.

Then it starts in all it’s glory, and the first thing you do is right click on the desktop to sort out the display resolution and settings, because they are fucking awful, and then you realise the settings are right, it is just the cheapest and nastiest LCD screen you ever saw.

And on, and on, and on….

So lets see what our £350 buys us

You young punks…

Filed under: Wimminz — Tags: — wimminz @ 9:03 pm

…lol… y’all don’t know shit.

I was over at my mothers’ place today, she is in her 90’s, a few years ago I got and installed for her a freesat system and a flat screen telly, so today I flick through the HD channels on freesat and bang the thing on RT, Russki computerivsputnikteevee, fucking breath of fresh air, took me straight back to Gulf War 1 and my mate with the 4 metre tracking dish, you’d watch CNN for a bit, then switch to Fox and think they were talking about a completely different war, then switch to the Beeb and think they were talking about a completely different war, then switch to RTE and think they were talking about a completely different war.

Course, RT has a very different take on israel / palestine / syria / turkey / crimea etc etc than all the western channels, in much the same way that the many pirate DJ’s at Radio Caroline had a different take on contemporary music and radio than the Beeb etc.fab21nov70.jpg.opt400x549o0,0s400x549

Oh to be a youth listening to the great 208 on long wave at night, I remember it well, but all those pioneers, and myself, and myself watching Gulf War 1, and myself watching RT today on my mum’s Freesat HD system all had one thing in common.

It is a seemingly trivial thing, but it is a hugely, hugely, hugely important thing.

It is flatly impossible to remotely detect if you are watching or listening to it.

Over the internet, it is so trivial that it is routine to track what every single household does, if I set up “Radio Free Airstrip 1” and stream it over the web, 100% of all listeners can be identified within 60 seconds.

Multicast != Broadcast.

I see lots of people talking, shades of won’t get fooled again, because now you know, what with teh intertubez and all, we are all so informed, and bloggers like me have a voice that is equal to Reuters…. yeah… right…

Bitchez, you are not fucking free when the state can routinely track what sites y’all been visiting, which they can do, quite independently of any cookies or websites or server settings or anything else….

It only struck me today, talking to one of my young nephews in his twenties, that he didn’t even know what the fuck I was on about, having never even lived in a world in which his every move, communication, social interaction and financial transaction was open to the State.

I tried to explain, you could listen to 208, or Lord Haw Haw, or Liberation radio, and unless you were being physically watched or overheard from a few feet away, nobody would know, and if you heard someone coming, spin the dial, all the evidence just vanished…

It’s a common theme…

…in post apocalyptic books, such as DMJ’s As I Walk These Broken Roads, that there is some character who basically traverses a route, a hooks up with the same other people, maybe once or twice a year, maybe once over three or four years.

Alternatively this person may be a postman, or a trader, or a caravanner.

I have news for you, this is the life I lead now, in the pre-apocalyptic world.

I bump into people I haven’t seen for a long time, there is no song and dance or hail fellow well met, just hey bro, maybe we’ll talk, maybe we’ll trade, maybe we’ll exchange some shit or undertake something, and then the ways part again, and who knows when, or even if, I will ever see that person again.

Doesn’t mean these relationships are shallow or meaningless, they can actually be very profound, very real, very deep, just none of that shit needs saying.

I can have conversations with them that I would not dare have with anyone else, let’s take an example, one I had very recently.

Sometimes I will deliberately take a difficult position, just to question and analyse, OK, we all know that X is so, but why is it so, why is it self evident, where is the evidence?

So I was discussing a skank I was with for a bit last year, and the subject came up about kids, yeah, she is raising mini skanks, and the blues brothers sketch intrudes, how much for the wimminz, your little girls, I want to buy them.

So the boot was on the other foot, and I had to answer the question, why is a sexual relationship with a child inevitably and always going to damage that child.

I’ll tell you now, in debating terms, I did a lousy job, “Because it just is” doesn’t cut the mustard, and frankly I only have myself to blame, because we had been discussing the Christopher Nuttall books, the space marines of the 27th century, sic, and of course the space marines are all semper fi and kick ass, and of course lots of the space marines are wimminz, and of course the space marines are all anti rape and totally anti child rape, but killing and burning and destroying anything that moves, hooyah.

I was commenting on the uncanny valley of lack of credibility between the whole picture painted of these space marines by the author, it just didn’t hold water, my mate said ok, what would they be like, and I said they aren’t gonna give a fuck about rape or child rape, and they aren’t gonna have wimminz in the ranks, not and survive against the alien hordes and all the rest of the shit.

So he says why should they, you tell me what is wrong with these things.

And of course he is right, it is all ideal world stuff, I’d really rather none of that stuff happened to me, or my kids, or those I care about, but bad stuff happens to people all the fucking time… and I’m cast back in time to the time someone asked me the theoretical question, would you rather your 6 year old child got raped once, or contracted terminal childhood leukaemia, you must choose one option.

Of course it all rolls back to the myth that rape is a fate worse than death, and da wimminz would rather die than be raped, but, having seen atrocities go down in various places around the planet, I have never actually seen any evidence of that, first, second or third hand…. in fact the only times I have heard any evidence to the contrary it wasn’t, cases where women were raped and mutilated and killed, and they knew up front that that was what was going to happen to them, *they* called upon all the gods and fates to rescue them, but it was the inevitable mutilation and death that they were trying to avoid.

So back to the present and the present subject, and I am left with the uncomfortable situation that fucking children is wrong because even discussing it makes you a social pariah, and doing it makes you sick sensation of the week in the MSM, and no, because of all these factors, I cannot actually give you any evidence that it is per se always damaging to kids, especially given that for most of English history it was quite legal and normal to take a wife as long as she was 12 years old, which most certainly qualifies as a child today.

It’s in the nature of these “ships in the night” encounters to sometimes go into strange and dangerous territories, so I don’t really question how the subject arose.

Then he hits me with it, and I had completely forgotten, the day I visited would have been the 13th birthday of his daughter, if she has ever lived, if she had ever been born, if she had not been late term aborted by his psycho ex, who, I learned for the first time, apparently said to him in spittle and hate, that aborting the kid was at least going to prevent him or any other man from ever putting their cocks in her or raping her.

He still loved his daughter, his child, even though she had never been born, he wouldn’t have loved her any less if she was alive and 13 and had had sex, or been raped, or abused in any other way.

It hit me, had this strange feeling, I really have no idea why on the one hand having sex with children is such a boogeyman, but on the other hand, one parent, the mother, unilaterally deciding to kill a child, refusing the child the opportunity to live, refusing the other parent the opportunity to raise that child (even if the mother wasn’t interested) is not merely morally acceptable, but an inalienable legal right… a legal right which everyone else must pay for, and defend, and uphold.

That is a question I cannot answer.

Shooting the shit.

Filed under: Wimminz — wimminz @ 12:07 pm

One of the benefits of having travelled a lot is you get exposed to a lot, a virtue that is compounded if you keep your eyes and ears open, use the brain you were born with, and live for enough years.

Quite often, if not usually, the “data” you pick up is “useless” from many perspectives, let me give you an example.

If you are a driver, you will know all about periodic and cyclic traffic changes, you can have a given road from point a to point b that takes 50 minutes to drive Monday to Friday in the morning or in the later afternoon, 30 minutes during the day, and 15 minutes at 2 am.

Then you can have days where it is 10 am but the journey takes 15 minutes, the roads are all inexplicably empty.

While the morning and evening rush hour traffic is useful data, because it is predictable, the quite 10 am journey is useless data, because you can’t predict it or do anything with it.

I have this year (2014) done journeys of 100 miles or more on main roads in my region, and felt like it was 1970 again, there was fuck all traffic on the roads, but in every other way it was a perfectly normal working weekday, with no explanation whatsoever for the lull.

So this observed data is real, but “useless”, and yet, there are things to be learned from it, perhaps the biggest thing you can learn is that for no apparent reason that you can discern, you can go out one day and discover that there is only 20% of the traffic on the road that you would expect, which tells you that rather than having a central, known to all, reason for the other 80% to be absent (eg it’s -10 and a blizzard out) the reasons are collective and subconscious, (eg it’s not sunny enough to buy an ice cream)

When you become open to this, you will start to notice more subtle trends that come out of nowhere one day and are gone the next, one day the roads are empty, one day everyone is driving like a cunt and not paying attention, one day everyone is driving frustrated and impatient and nobody will let anyone else in from a side road, one day everyone is parked badly.

Again, this is “useless” data in that you can’t centrally model it or predict it or take advantage of it, but it is nonetheless real, every single one of you reading this who has been driving ten years or more, in any country on the planet, knows exactly what I am talking about.

This is however, essentially closely related to the phenomenon that you can look at your watch and note that it is 11:32 am, and the 8,000 peaceful protesters in the street are slowly walking by holding their placards and singing, and you can look at your watch and note that it is now 11:41 am, and it is a fucking riot, and nobody is quite sure why…

Oh yes AfOR, you have talked about this shit before, crap changes real quick, well, yes, I have, but just because I am talking about it again doesn’t mean I am repeating myself, yeah it’s all birds, but last time I was talking about sparrows, this time I am talking about chickens… it’s all fowl… but the devil is in the detail, as always.

Now, like everyone else, I can see correlations, increased fuel costs, lowered real wages, less money for fuel, less journeys taken, migration to monthly salaries paid into the bank and not weekly in cash, OK, maybe the roads are dead because it is the 3rd week in the month and everyone is broke.

It’s now Friday, I got zero work in my diary so far, I had one small job on Monday, and one small job on Tuesday, and it’s not just me, I look at some of the other guys diaries, same story, it’s not nationwide though, just our region, the south west.

It’s another one of those “inexplicable” quiet spells.

The dating / fucking scene, it’s basically vanished, the people are there, but I personally am getting fuck all action, and judging by what others are saying, I’m not alone.

It’s all inexplicable, it’s all useless, it’s all vague and unpredictable, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t mean anything or have any significance.

I can remember being in Spain, which was using the Peseta then, when Gulf War 1 kicked off, the closest involvement we had was the 6th fleet stopping by for drinks and some shore leave on their way to that end of the Med, 2,000 miles away, nevertheless, all kinds of businesses and day to day working and projects and plans and even routine maintenance for all sorts of things that were in no way related to the war or the yanks or the iraqis or anything else, fucking died overnight….

Officially of course the exchange rate between the US Dollar and the Spanish Peseta collapsed, to this day, given the geography and everything else, god alone knows why, but it did, so you can see why people who thought in greenbacks put every Spanish project on the books on hold, suddenly everything got 50% more expensive, in dollar terms, but none of that explains all the people earning and spending and thinking in Pesetas also going quiet.

So we have a situation where we are not a million miles away from some old fart noticing the birds flying south and thinking it may be time to chop firewood, and the birds flying south early, so chopping more, it’s not that the birds, or the other drivers on the road, or the other people on fucking sites, or the other engineers at my company, or anything else, are privy to some secret that I am not aware of, or got some news before me, or anything else. Correlation != Causation

The important lesson is that LACK of a causative link does not mean that there is little or no importance or value or benefit to be attached to observation.

It is wrong to note sudden and unexpected periods of inactivity in any field, and to try to forge a causative link out of observation or correlation.

It is equally wrong to extend that logic and say that since there is no observable causative link, just the odd bit of correlation, that the two things are therefore completely unconnected.

The *connection* between brush fires and birds migrating is summer, there are very few brush fires up on the moors when the birds have all flown south for the winter…. even if the agency that started the fire in question was a shard or broken bottle or a discarded cigarette.

A E Van Vogt wrote about this, there was a spaceship full of scientists, and they were all specialists in their respective fields, they know 100% of their own field, and 0% of everyone else’s, and there was one guy who was a generalist, he knew 2% of every field, and he prevailed because real life was not a speciality situation, all nuclear physics, or all surface chemistry, or all germ biology, and so on.

By definition then, we are dealing with a subject that by its very nature defies simple analysis, or simple explanations, or simple modelling.

It’s like a modern supermarket where *everything* is tracked, even to the point where they know your teenage daughter is pregnant before you do, but the one thing they CANNOT track is the most important information of all, how many people did NOT walk into that shop, and what were their reasons for doing so?

BP, Tesco, PC World, and a whole host of others, do not know why I will never set foot in their stores or buy any of their products as long as I live, while they are ascendant, they don’t care, when they start to care, it will be far too late.

It was with deep joy that I watched Comet, to give but one example, go to the wall, fuckedcompany dot com, go bust and shut up shop. (can’t wait for the rest of the group to follow)

It is really any surprise that I can feel EXACTLY the same way, for EXACTLY the same reasons, about a person, or a state, or an institution?

You treated me like a cunt, there is no upper limit to the pain or suffering or agony of grief that you can now endure, before I even twitch the end of the little finger, you are already, to quote one chick I used to bang, “fucking dead to me”, and I am not the only one, far, far, far from it.

Turnabout is fair play.

I fear that much of the MRM is populated by men who are trying to understand, trying to comprehend, trying to make a difference, let’s take DMJ for example, I don’t know the guy from adam in the flesh, but he absolutely reeks of an intelligent man trying to understand and make sense of shit.

Fui quod es, eris quod sum

I fear it, not because it makes me afraid, but because of the waste…  I fear that one day I will see my son, and have a literal lifetime of experience and wisdom and tips and tricks to impart, and I will just look at him in silence, mutter “meh”, and turn and walk away, because ultimately he has to learn his own lessons, there are no shortcuts.

In that sense I fear, I fear the loss, I fear the waste, I fear that he will become more like me.

There are many things in a man’s life that he is a fool to ever put into words, no matter the passage of time or distance or anything else, something things, there is just no possible upside to saying, save for some vain and juvenile hope that the words themselves will impress for a short time.

Particularly now in the digital age where all forms of communication are monitored and recorded, it is spectacularly stupid to say many things in a man’s life, doubly so if they are not even true in the first place.

When I was a boy, in the analogue age, it was perfectly possible to say “I’m going to fucking kill Terry”, because Terry had done something, crashed your car, stolen your girl, whatever, it was possible because it was transient, if you wanted to make your world last longer you could go out and pay a stonemason to carve them into a lump of granite.

Now I am a man in the digital age where *everything* is monitored and recorded, what I can tell you is that 99% of that stuff is never going to be talked about by me, because *everything* is monitored and recorded, which means that 99% of analogue real life has been lost to the modern generation.

If we look at actual facts, the abduction and serious sexual abuse of small children has remained pretty much constant in the UK since the end of the last war and the beginning of record keeping, the number is around 40 or 50 children a year.

The digital age hasn’t changed that number.

The digital age just meant that old ladies doing the flowers for the church now need to pass a load of checks, because that same church also has a kids playgroup, and some of those old ladies, like me, did shit they didn’t oughta have done, back in the analogue age, so now they fail security checks in the digital age.

I have a prison record, clearly this reflects the stuff I was caught, tried and convicted for, and in my nature, if I did it I admitted my guilt in plea right after confirming my name and date of birth and so on to the court.

More motoring offences than you can shake a stick at, some drink driving, one drugs, one theft (insurance job…) of a vehicle. All this was in the UK, never had any troubles with the law abroad, and 99% of this was between the ages of 18 and 22, and I am now in my fifties.

Now I can tell you I’d be a fucking fool to admit anything else now, and that’s the truth, and it is also pretty obvious that I am likely like most everyone else, I did a lot of stuff I got away with, but it is also the truth to state that you really, really, really cannot put me in that class of people who spent their lives being a mobster, but only ever got convicted of motoring shit and not paying taxes.

I can tell you, hand on heart, that at no time did I ever go “outside” the circle, for example burglary, mugging, theft, supplying drugs, arson, are all crimes that go outside and involve third parties, the only way you could get involved with me was if you chose, of your own free will, to adopt the lifestyle and join us.

Like the Tescos bit above, the present security and screening services that basically 99% of modern workers in the UK have to take part in, are singularly inept at it, in exactly the same way that Tesco cannot tell who does not walk into the store, and why.

The screening processes cannot actually track those that are a risk, to your data, or your security, or your children, mainly because they can only work with those who are IN the system, and even then, it has to trust data entered in the analogue age, so it generates lots of false positives, lots of false negatives, and has no idea at all about those it is not tracking, or things it is not tracking for.

Again, like the suddenly empty or busy roads, I see flurries of these security clearance things, in my own day job there have literally been so many, by so many different agencies, that I actually have no idea what my current status is, nor do I care, a feeling shared by many.

Again, like all of the above, I don’t know that there is any useful data you can pull out of this, it’s “useless”, from a management and control perspective, but nevertheless it exists, and has its own complete ecology.

The monitoring or screening or assessment or whatever process doesn’t actually have even the remotest link to the actual risk that I present to your company, to your property, to your image, to your deadline, to your data, to your children.

But when the birds fly north for the summer, you do get far more brush fires up in the moors….

I am a reasonably intelligent and observant and honest and forthright and practical and so on and so forth bloke, and I know I can’t work out all this shit, I can see signs and patterns and trends, I can make guesses, I can even have a history of making fairly accurate guesses, doesn’t mean I know shit, understand shit, or have a handle on shit.

This is why I KNOW FOR A FUCKING FACT all these cunts and leaders and policy makers and behind the scenes head honchos are flying as fucking blind as me, they really have no more idea, probably less of an idea, than me.

I know because I have come to observe and deduce that there is no missing link, no higgs boson, no quantum theory, no rosetta stone, which will suddenly bring reason and understanding and order to things.

If there is no missing crucial quanta of data, then cleanly these other fuckers are lying or delusional when they make the claim that they do know what they fuck they are doing, because they do have access to seekrit data that I do not.

They may well have access to seekrit data that I do not, but it is really just more of the same sort of data that I already have, it is not the missing crucial quanta of data that are a pre=requisite to understand and unlock and make meaning of all the rest.

This is the biggest confidence trick of all time, not that Merkel is a better statecunt than I could ever be, for that is clearly now not true, but the deeper lie that simply BEING Chancellor of Germany somehow gives her access not just to more data than me, or just better data than me, but access to the missing crucial quanta of data, without which, more data is nothing of value whatsoever.

A millimetre at a time

Filed under: Wimminz — Tags: — wimminz @ 8:32 pm

That is how we approach the cusp, the tipping point, the edge…

It’s how we work, it is what it is to be human, it is indeed the basis of many children’s games, to move just one millimetre from where you are, it’s such a tiny distance, nothing really can be changed by it.

But millimetres add up.

If you declare that according to the law in the UK you will not have sex with anyone under 16 years of age when you yourself are twenty, then the next day declare that you will have sex with a girl just one day younger than the girl you had sex with yesterday, in just 1,500 days you will be having sex with a pre-pubescent girl.

Of course it goes the other way too, limits can be raised and things can be made retroactive, in current political history the age at which you are eligible for a state pension is remaining in effect a fixed distance into the future, as with each couple of years passing the age limit gets raised a couple of years.

This is why we still have taxes, one off temporary things that were declared to be funding the current war, and they just kept getting extended.

The same things happened with copyright, Mickey Mouse and the Beatles will never pass into the public domain.

What we are seeing now, and what I was able to predict quite easily, in the sociopolitical movings and shakings in the near east, is a classic example of this, one millimetre at a time.

Nobody thinks the frog is either going to jump out of the water, or die, after all, it is just one more degree of temperature in the water.

It’s just one more pair of shoes the wife buys, it’s just one more day some asshole takes your designated parking space, it’s just one more inch the fast bastard in the next seat encroaches into your fucking seat that you paid for.

My parents generation were the ones left behind or ordered to stay behind when Singapore fell, they worked on the Burma railways, the ran the winter convoys to Murmansk, they stayed at home and saw entire cities burn, and if they were from any other European nation the story would have been broadly similar.

Too late, they remembered the stories *their* parents told *them*, and it was always the same, and never the story told in the history books.

Oh yes, the bloody Germans did not send an answer to a letter by 11 am the next day, so we will declare fucking war, a second at a time, a minute at a time, and hour at a time, a millimetre at a time, because god knows being late in responding is a much more serious matter than starting a world war….

…. because all of the events and politics and bullshit from 1918 to 1939 have no meaning whatsoever, it is THIS millimetre, THIS second, THIS exchange rate, THIS sale, that tips the balance, oh no, it is most certainly NOT the case that we all together only got to this point by dancing together for the past 20 years, pushing each other another millimetre at a time.

Oh no.

So I send a message to a skank I know, but rarely converse with, what’s the point, she is a fucking airhead, and a liar, and a wimminz, so I guess the previous verbs are superfluous, asking her is she is looking forwards to world war three, having just read this..

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-03-27/russia-create-own-national-payment-system-bid-reduce-dependence-west

guess what her response is, well, she doesn’t know shit, but apparently her fucking grandad has been saying this exact same stuff…. go figure.

Now it transpired Erdogan in Turkey was thinking about a USS Liberty style operation in Syria, hence the sudden block on jewtube and twatter (sic), he was trying to stop the leak.

Seems the global surveillance and monitoring stuff is a two edged sword, whodathunkit…but being hoist by your own petard is rapidly turning into an international sport this past year or so, and of course all the politico’s are all quite happy if someone with no face and no name in a far away land decides to go and get hisself killed,  hooyah..

Cos everyone is so wrapped up in their own millimetre, their own square yard of mc-mansion on interest only liar loan, they never really think about the other guy, and his millimetre, and that guy over there, and his millimetre, and that other guy over there, and his millimetre.

And then one day someone does something they think is perfectly reasonable and trivial, and tells someone else, either you do this, or do not do that, trivial thing, by this time, or it’ll have to be war old son….. knowing that there is no way the other guy will actually *not* comply, not over one tiny millimetre, it’s just not worth it.

And these people, and their advisers, and backers, and colleagues, are apparently the last ones to get the memo, and then they act all sad and sorrowful and surprised and shocked, and announce what everyone with half a functioning brain has been expecting for weeks, if not months, if not longer, that now we the blue team are at a state of war with the red team.
