Most welcome daily report. Resourceful image use, terse narrative and succinct updates with proper pronunciation of non-English words and names.

I always feel it is a report from a friend.

The article actually did sound uncharacteristically sane for an MSM source… until I noticed this little gem buried at the end of it: “With rumors of a possible spring offensive planned by the separatists, he will not want to risk more confrontations like the one involving Kolomoisky.” [Emphasis mine]

So Reuters is grooming us for more war in the near future, while pre-emptively shifting blame for it. Brilliant!

This never-seen-before-imperial policy of— don´t go to the Red Square on May 9th or…[threats, blackmail and arm.twisting follow] will backfire.
Hello Vlad Putin, please, throw to the fan, show on TV what it really means.
think for a while how the russian people will react.
It will exactly TURN INTO the Pearl Harbor you didn´t ask for.
A gift to the RF president.
    Enough to use it wisely.

Thanks for this. Love the reports – especially from this narrator.

Yes! The original Russian narrator is back. It didn’t sound right without him.

In related news, the memory-holing of the Second World War by Kiev just keeps on keepin’ on. Halyna Mokrushyna has a great new piece up at CounterPunch analyzing two new propaganda videos produced for the Kiev regime to celebrate Victory Day on May 9th… with a twist. In these slickly produced, Hollywood-style videos (wonder who funded them?), the heroes of the Great Patriotic War are equated with–grab your barf-bags–the modern-day Ukrainian soldiers fighting against Donbass! And here’s the kicker: the videos were filmed entirely in Russian with Ukrainian subtitles. Pretty shameless, eh? Watch the videos for yourselves, if you dare:

    Glory to Ukraine!
    Glory to the heroes!

CFR Says China Must Be Defeated And TPP Is Essential To That

Wall Street’s Council on Foreign Relations has issued a major report, alleging that China must be defeated because it threatens to become a bigger power in the world than the U.S.

This report, which is titled “Revising U.S. Grand Strategy Toward China,” is introduced by Richard Haass, the CFR’s President, who affirms the report’s view that, “no relationship will matter more when it comes to defining the twenty-first century than the one between the United States and China.”

He says that the report he is publishing argues that “strategic rivalry is highly likely if not inevitable between the existing major power of the day and the principal rising power.” Haass says that the authors “also argue that China has not evolved into the ‘responsible stakeholder’ that many in the United States hoped it would.” In other words: “cooperation” with China will probably need to become replaced by, as the report’s authors put it, “intense U.S.-China strategic competition.”

Pushes China closer to Russia and guarantees that the internal dynamics of securing the CCP hold on the Central Government will be stronger than ever.

The West “think tanks” believe they can rattle China with their pivot, unleashing Japan’s military, steaming the 7th Fleet into the coastal waters and inner island chains.

There is a very strong military contingent within the PLA that has been kept on a short leash. However, President Xi who commands the military directly through the Party control of the Military Commission must permit the military to indicate its strength.

I expect they will soon use live fire in the air and on the sea to signal to Japan and the US that China is very serious about its own Asia Pacific sphere of action.

In demonstrating that there are forces on the Mainland within the PLA that will fight any attempt to restrict Chinese growth, a practical lesson will be learned. President Xi is scheduled for a trip to the US later this year. He will come with the smell of gunpowder if need be.

The Chinese are studying the Russian activities demonstrating its military in the Baltic, Black Sea, over NATO countries, on waters around the vassals and of course, facing the loons and lunatics in Kiev.

They will devise their own version shortly.

China does not have the size or strength to fight and win against Japan or the United States but it has the means to scare the hell of both and bruise their egos. China will not allow all their progress to be truncated by the hegemonic machinations of monkeys from the think tanks.

L445,Could you shed light on the comment that ‘China does not have the size or strength to fight and win against Japan’? thx.

        • T2015 on May 06, 2015  ·  at 1:37 pm EST/EDT

I was wondering that too, IMO today china could completely destroy Japan within days. Also they have more soldiers available then the size of the whole japanese population.

          • zweistein on May 06, 2015  ·  at 7:20 pm EST/EDT

And why exactly should Japan attack China ??? The Japanese are not crazy. They want the US-oppressor out of their country as much as the Germans. In both cases that will take time, but the time will come.

An interesting and informative article from Tony Kevin a former Australian ambassador to Poland.

“An ignoble boycott calculated to hurt Russia.

Why should Australians bother about a faraway solemn national ceremony, Russia’s Victory Parade in Moscow on 9 May to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the final defeat of Fascist Germany?

I suggest we should pay tribute on this day to the heroism of the Russian people, soldiers and civilians alike, for their huge sacrifices and sufferings in our common cause of defeating Nazism, in what Russians call the Great Patriotic War and we call World War II.
    …”

The Key to defeating the US in Ukraine, Syria or anywhere else on the globe is the US dollar.

(Reuters) – Asian stocks stumbled on Wednesday in sympathy with weak U.S. and European markets as equities investors were spooked by a vicious selloff in sovereign bonds globally.
    http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/05/06/us-markets-global-idUSKBN0NR01X20150506

Policymakers in the world’s biggest exporter have resisted weakening the yuan as economic growth slows, seeing exchange-rate stability as key to winning global reserve-currency status from the International Monetary Fund this year. That in turn has reduced pressure on China’s regional export rivals to keep their products competitive with weaker exchange rates, according to BlackRock Inc, the world’s largest money manager.

The International Monetary Fund is close to declaring renminbi fairly valued for the first time in more than a decade, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The fund is expected to make its result official in reports due out in the coming months, said the Journal on Sunday.
A special drawing right (SDR) review is also underway, where the IMF will decide whether to include renminbi into the SDR currency basket, said Zhu Min, deputy managing director of the Washington-based organization, earlier in April.
    http://europe.chinadaily.com.cn/business/2015-05/05/content_20624321.htm

The last one. Having the RMB declared as a special drawing right may be difficult as US controls the IMF.

I don’t read Ukrainian news sites, but am curious if the story of the failed US attempt to extradite Firtash and the extraordinary revelations concerning the anointing/appointing of Poroshenko by the Americans has received any coverage there. Quite a good read at the Guardian (of all places), and as usual, the comments are an even better read.

Scorched earth policy? IF US cannot have it they will burn it?

    http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article41771.htm
This is precisely the point: The Washington / NATO strategy is not to ‘win’ a war or conflict, but to create ongoing – endless chaos. That’s the way (i) to control people, nations and their resources; (ii) to assures the west a continuous need for military – troops and equipment – remember more than 50% of the US GDP depends on the military industrial complex, related industries and services; and (iii) finally, a country in disarray or chaos, is broke and needs money – money with hardship conditions, ‘austerity’ money from the notorious IMF, World Bank and other associated nefarious ‘development institutions’ and money lenders; money that equals enslavement, especially with corrupt leaders that do not care for their people.

Does anyone know what to make of this article about a ‘German DVD’ in NEO? It’s the first that I have heard about a ‘DVD’.

    So Much More Than Nuclear

    Excerpt:
“Shrimpton claimed in open court that a German organization known as the DVD or Deutsche Verteidigungs Dienst, a Nazi “holdover” from World War II with “franchises” around the world, was responsible.
    …..
Shrimpton claims he was “railroaded” because he had exposed the DVD; the Nazi terror group he says run Germany but also runs the United States through the Bush family”

    http://journal-neo.org/2015/05/03/so-much-more-than-nuclear/

    • Kat Kan on May 06, 2015  ·  at 10:11 am EST/EDT

DVD is apparently a German deep secret society, being promoted on VeteransToday by an author of a series of books on it, one Michael Shrimpton who openly admits he has no publishable evidence for it, eg he says

“… folk outside INTELCOM can get pretty annoyed when they’re not given the evidence. There is nothing I can do about that,….

People don’t give evidence of their claims (a) if the evidence is terribly secret or (b) they don’t have any. In many cases people of category (b) try to imply the situation is actually (a). Considering the sites which are promoting this, I’d say this is the case here, too. I can’t see anything to say how he got into a position to know such secrets, or why he feels safe “exposing” them. See for yourself.

Funny how the worst of disinfo outlets always choose such names containing “thruth” etc. It’s almost a dead giveaway even before you bother reading their fairy tales.

      “Business is business”.

UK and USA kept trading with Germany for most of WW2, too.

This time? if we look at the numbers in the article you posted, Russia and new friend Venezuela are the third and fourth largest exporters of finished petroleum products ie ready to use gasoline, to the United States, together a larger volume than they get from #2, Saudi Arabia.
The total 4.72 million barrels daily imported is 53% of USA usage. Russia being 4% and Venezuela 7% of total.

USA easily produces these quantities, but they are mostly exported to Mexico (from oil imported from there, so basically just processing Mexico’s oil for them).

It would not be a HUGE blow to the USA if Russia were to stop these exports… but if it were to come at a time USA needs more fuel, for increased military needs?

What if exports to Europe suddenly dropped by what was needed for NATO forces there?

What if Russian gas suddenly stopped for countries backing a war against Russia? how long before the populace demanded an end to the war-mongering?

      • Uncle Bob 1 on May 06, 2015  ·  at 1:20 pm EST/EDT

I’ve thought the same on the oil and gas issue.

Regarding BUK I did see this article. Comments?

    http://www.novayagazeta.ru/inquests/68332.html

    • Kat Kan on May 06, 2015  ·  at 11:42 am EST/EDT

It seems to be an update of the Russian Society of Engineers assessment of MH17. It is their original story, updated with the small rusty piece reportedly found by Dutch photo-journalist Joern Akkermans, and images of the right side of the cockpit being lifted a few months ago, the first time anyone’s seen that side of the cockpit.

Oddly enough, while that side of the cockpit shows NO bullet holes, they still show graphics indicating a BUK being shot from the right side of the plane.

To recap., this institute’s theory is that it was a Ukrainian BUK, not an air to air missile. This is at odds with Russian military radar images “hinting” at an SU-25 involvement (or t least one being suspiciously in the vicinity).

As it is not possible to prove the separatists did it, it is not possible to show it was done with a Russian-owned BUK. There is even less evidence of Russian Federation military being involved.

Therefore there will never be an official determination of who did it, as the other suspects are involved in the investigation and have veto rights over the final report. Additionally there are political reasons for The Netherlands to not pin blame on the Ukraine, plus little items of payoff like their having recently been given back some 120 tons of their gold that had been held by the US.

      • Anonymous on May 06, 2015  ·  at 11:54 am EST/EDT

Okey thank you. I tried to run the article in google translate but got only a fraction of the article translated. Therefore my question.

      • In Addition on May 06, 2015  ·  at 1:10 pm EST/EDT

Also the exclusion of Malaysian authorities from the investigation, the flight data and cockpit voice recorders given to a Malaysian colonel by the militia.

They, being promptly given to Dutch military, then to British military and off to Farnborough in the UK. WTF??

NEVER has a civilian aircraft received that kind of treatment.

And the real kicker…Malaysian airlines loses two aircraft in 1 year!
and Malaysia is the only country in the world to indict Tony Blair and George W Bush as war criminals!

    • T2015 on May 06, 2015  ·  at 1:51 pm EST/EDT

Explained a million times already – no way in hell it could have been a BUK, never ever.

BUK leaves a huge smoke trail visible for half an hour within the circle of 50 miles.

Everyone supporting that meme in any way is simply a disinfo a**hole.
