I heard a Russian joke.
A journalist ask Prime Minister Yatsenyuk :
-Why are you sending the army in the Donbass?
He barely pay attention to the question and respond mechaninally with an unconcerned face:
-“Because there are Russian troops there”
-But why don’t you send the army to take back Crimea since it is closer from here?
He opens wide his eyes and, terrified he respond:
-“Because there are Russian troops there!”
OT
Poor Greece. Looks like a surrender, though a referendum is being discussed. Apparently military preparation to control the population is also under consideration. Also the possibility of a bail-in not of bank accounts, but of wages: State employees get IOUs & the EU gets the money, while they call for yet MORE austerity.
Hopefully it won’t be worse. At the time the first thought of many people (including yours truly) was that Syriza was the proverbial Trojan horse. They had solid reasons to think that way:
“George Soros funds Greek opposition”, Athens, February 26, 2013
“There has been a sweeping reaction to publication by the authoritative German business weekly WirtschaftsWoche, according to Аgionoros.ru.
The editorial article states that the American multi-millionaire and investor George Soros is funding the second most popular political party in Greece, SYRIZA. According to Wirtschaftswoche, the American financier helped arrange the visit of SYRIZA’s left-wing radical coalition leader Alexis Cipras to the USA, during which the Greek politician became acquainted with influential representatives of American political “establishment”. There Cipras received from them a distinct “go ahead” to “rule”….
some Greek analysts see in Soros’ interest in Greek left-wing radicals another hidden motive. SYRIZA has been actively collaborating for long time with nongovernmental organizations in Greece, funded by Soros. The coalition of left-wing radicals actively supports sexual, ethnic and religious minorities. Many call the policy of this party anti-national as its leaders deny the genocide of Greeks in Asia Minor and stand for territorial concessions for Greece’s neighbors. The SYRIZA coalition is a consistent opponent of preserving the Church’s influence on Greek society. It supports the removal of chaplains from the army, opposes the funding of priests’ salaries from the state budget, and demands full separation of the Church from the state.”

Obama has burned many many bridges with the Europeans – now that Kerry is backing off Ukraine – which is good for all the people in the world – defanging the Empire of Chaos for all to see will yield dividends everywhere
It is so very difficult for a non-diplomat to understand what they could possibly be negotiating about. They are to discuss Ukraine, Iraq, Syria & Yemen. Can anyone give me the slightest clue what they say when they’re negotiating? Does Russia pretend to believe that US thinks Donbass are terrorists? Does Russia pretend to believe that US is not purposely taking
Syria & Iraq apart? Does Russia pretend not to know that Hadi of Yemen is a US puppet whom US wants reinstalled.
In each case it seems possible to converse for maybe 5 minutes before running in to US lies.
Kerry: President Putin, you give us Syria, we’ll give you Ukraine.
Putin: Tell me another, Mr. Secretary. You’re a funny guy.
Kerry: Seriously. We’ll let you keep Crimea, as much of Ukraine as you want, but at least remove Assad. You and Iran can have the new government, but give us something.
Putin: How’s Hillary doing with those emails? If she needs copies, I have them on a thumb drive, ready to go.
Kerry: Assad?
Putin: He’s my guy, Mr. Secretary. I like parking my ships at Tartus port.
Kerry: Mr. President, how can we solve problems this way. You aren’t giving me anything to take home.
Putin: Mr. Lavrov has some tomatoes and a T-shirt for you. I’ve got to go. Stop by for the F-1 race here at Sochi. Or come ski in the winter. Have you considered water-skiing in Crimea? Wonderful summer fun.
Kerry: You sound like you don’t care about Ukraine or Syrian democracy, Mr. President.
Putin: On the contrary. We are helping the people who want freedom in Ukraine and Syria fight fascists and terrorists. Why are you on the wrong side, Mr. Secretary? Tell President Obama we don’t run. And President Xi sends his regards.
The Canadian government is threatening to charge those participating in boycotts of Israel with a hate crime, CBC revealed on Monday.
The information came following an attempt by the news agency to obtain clarification on statements made by federal ministers about a “zero tolerance” approach to supporters of the international Boycott, Divest and Sanction (BDS) movement protesting Israeli apartheid and occupation of Palestinian land.
Yeah, Harper is trying to intimidate the Quakers and the United Church, who back the boycott. They are guilty of thought crimes and desiring justice for the oppressed.
Great humor on some of these comments. Laughing seems to help when I want to cry. “It doesn’t take a weatherman to see which way the wind is blowing.” Poroschenko seems more and more of a clown, without the humor. How many violations will it take before we know we’ve been violated? If the tail has to be cut off, why not just do it and get it over with? How many Minsk’s will it take before we admit the leopard is not going to change his spots? Don’t mind me, I just blog to get some relief for this pain in here.
I was wondering, why you call Ukrainians orcs. But then I finally read the great russian author Pelevin’s book “S.N.U.F.F.” and understood. I like your sense of irony!
I nicked the idea from an occasional writer/commenter here named Auslander. Given what I remembered of orcs from Tolkein’s books and the way the banderas were behaving, I thought it a good fit. I don’t use it for all Ukrainians, just the ones running amok and causing the problems.
S.N.U.F.F. is a science fiction novel by Russian writer Viktor Pelevin published in 2011. The plot’s setting is a post-apocalyptic world where the majority of people live either in a poor, technologically backwards Urkaina [sic] with about 300 million Slavic speaking inhabitants with a capital city “Slava” or in a technologically advanced English-speaking artificial flying city “Big Byz” (or “Byzantium”) which is locked in the sky above Urkaine and has a population of about 30 million.
so Kerry went to Sochi. I would have drop kicked him back to the hole he came out of.
He’s only buying time so that one of the nefarious ways he is using to destroy both the EU and Russia is more successful than they all are presently.

that’s what happens when you have been turned into debt-slaves. The Ukrainians are next…
Is there a shortage in Greece of torches, pitchforks, and rope?
LOL. Good one.
No,a serious one.
They got what they voted for.

The Support Given to this bill by the liberal party is both shameful and potentially a severe blow to their election chances this October.

Well done report.

I suggest reading that book as well.
