People are waking up, and realize they are under cruel occupation, CONSEQUENTLY they have to get organized and start the RESISTANCE. It is not enough to hide in the house, becouse the nazi will come to get them, and young men will disappear or will be forced into the army, girl will be killed or raped, elderly will be beaten and starved. Underground movements need to be consolidated, arms should start infiltrating in different cities, UNTIL the day comes when they can get into the open. It is going to be long, but the cruelty, the arrogance, the stupidity of the junta should help in creating rebellion everywhere.
Well, this should put to final rest any doubt anyone here might have had over whether the people in occupied areas of Donbass support the junta or if they are terrorized into silence. Now we see their true feelings in the demonstrations in Konstantinovka.
You are right, they have been holding back for all this time, but now the last straw has been broken.
But, just how long will it take the rest to start to wake up ? How much before they crack ? Its a waiting game right now.
I find it hard to believe that the US army is teaching the Ukrainian army to treat the local population badly. Treating the local population correctly is one of the most basic principles of counterinsurgency. To me it seems more likely that all those fresh recruits who had minimal training just didn’t get it. After all it is rather counter-intuitive.
Maybe the Ukrainian army faces also a dilemma. If they send the soldier who did it to prison others might follow his example: prison is safer than the front lines.
Blue is right and if my older computer hadn’t died, I could add about 1,000 examples that are much, much worse. The soldiers enjoy the most loathsome, psychotic behavior imaginable. Not to suggest once characterization fits all, but plenty of examples are published, usually long after the fact.
There was awful video from 2005? where the two US Marines filmed themselves throwing a wimpering puppy over a cliff in Iraq to its death and laughed about. It was pulled from US Youtube, but overseas youtube still carried it. One of the mighty Marines was a Lt. from Ohio.
I remember that video, it was filmed in Afghanistan. if that video were played on USA national news for just one night you would see the floor fall out of support for all US occupations. There was no way to deny the callousness of that. There is another video of a US soldier shooting a three legged dog.
the stories from US-run prisons in Afghanistan and Iraq – in addition to the well-publicized torture of men – were truly unbelievable. there were many reports of prison guards allowing groups of soldiers into the cells of women and even girls, who were raped for long periods of time. One story of a group of US soldiers allowed in to rape and brutalize a 12-year old girl received much international media attention later. there were stories of women begging from prison windows to men outside to enter and kill them because of the terrible abuses they had suffered at US hands. I read they would torture women near cells where men were being held as a form of psychological torture against the men, so they would believe their wives were screaming nearby. I read stories of children being raped in front of their parents and filmed for the voyeuristic pleasure of the Washington elite. I recall the Americans would not ever let the International Red Cross in to inspect the children’s prison near Baghdad. One can only imagine what they were concealing. I read a report by independent journalist Dahr Jamail in which he recounted an incident in which US marines had run through an Iraq town slaugtering everyone in sight and had raped and murdered a large group of teenage girls at a girl’s school and left the school grounds littered with their corpses. When the US press did finally take an interest in US torture in Iraq and Afghanistan the torture of women and children was generally concealed.
Are you sure you did not mistake war porn with some of the real brutality that happened? Not that I don’t believe a lot of women and girls were tortured, raped and killed because those are well documented and it happens in every outfit. Even the females in the US forces get raped at the rate of like 20%. Which is quite horrible considering.. Just because of the sheer number of US troops left alone to do as they wish causes a lot of problems. I know the troops stationed in a Fallujah school killed around 40 parents who were demanding the troops vacate the school so classes could start.. Which started the turn from liberators to invaders. But one incident I read was that afghan translators imbedded with US troops were raping children as they look on. Far easier for them to go to places like Thailand which caters to such exotic taste from western money.
Many people confuse the war porn which was very popular with certain events. Not that it makes much difference because the crimes are just as bad. Only that when you cant justify a particular event then the entire story is thrown out as hearsay and rumors.
US, UK, Blackwater(and heirs) and Polish equivalents have been training Ukie troops and battalions in urban warfare and community policing.
Take a look at what this looks like in the USA, where police treat locals as enemy. So hows would those lessons translate to people they already regard as enemy?
The principles of counterinsurgency are very simple: if you treat the population badly more of them will turn against you. So you better treat them nicely. However, that is counterintuitive when many of those locals sympathise with the enemy and you want to “teach them a lesson”.
So the further you come from the US army the less understood this principle is. Blackwater can indeed not be trusted to get this. If the US army is teaching that in Ukraine they are quite out of control.
Q; I find it hard to believe that the US army is teaching the Ukrainian army to treat the local population badly.
R: What is your [personal] definition of the role of an/y army and its place amongst civies?
The Roman army ushered in many locals back in the day, so I do agree with your notion that alienating the local populace works/is very counterproductive.
Don’t know about the principles of counterinsurgency, These were used by the US butchers in Vietnam right?
What is clear is that Gerashenko’s order is a clear breach of Article 3 of the Geneva Convention of 1949. He is a criminal. Yes i know this is old hat to the razor sharp US military mind. For the rest of us Polina and the other children victims of these criminals are in heaven and these war criminals will burn in hell. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
The private Ukr battallions keep firing their heavy artillery, saying that the firing is supposedly various factions of the rebels firing at each other. The Ukrainian troops are bored to death, some of the de-mobilization has been stopped because they realize how that takes all the ‘little’ battle experience out of the army, and it becomes impossible for the army command to control the bored bastards. So they drink, they take equipment out to go zoom through towns. I don’t believe they were taught by the US to do so – you really don’t have to teach Ukrainians how to get drunk and do stupid things. The point is, they were never taught counter-insurgency issues; how to detect exactly this type of dangerous ‘boredom’ behavior and put it to pasture.
Gerashenko’s comments are again a show-and-tell of what never to do: he gives a command to badly trained, psychologically damaged and stressed forces who will only hear the last sentence: shoot with live ammo.
I am getting so utterly fed up with the self-styled Nazi Poroshenko Govt. Occupied Territory! They just do what they like – not even the UNSC resolution matters. Ignore all the detail/agreement and do what they want. Imagine if this was the beahaviour of another country to the UNSC – we wouldn’t hear the end of it. Bombing, killing etc. would already be taking place.
Lavrov goes after France and Germany – they are pathetic. Merkle can’t even be bothered to turn up for Victory Day but can go to D Day. As I’ve said many times I don’t know how the Russians keep their patience:
And meanwhile in Russia the disreputable Polish Govt. and diplomatic services don’t even recognise the laws of the country where they have a consulate. It’s also ok not to pay rent for 20 years! The utter foulness of that countrie’s Govt. just go’s beyond words. They are so utterly horrid and disrespectful. I don’t know why the Russians even bother with them. All those lives lost in WWII for people like them…….

MOSCOW, March 17 (TASS) – The regions of Donbas need a separate law on a special status that will explain in detail all its aspects, the envoy of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic to the Contact Group, Vladislav Deinego, said on Tuesday.
“It would be well-timed to adopt a separate law “On special status” to give a full interpretation in all the aspects of the special status of certain areas in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions,” Deinego told the LuganskInformCentre.
On Monday, Ukraine’s parliament speaker Volodymyr Groysman said that the draft law on the special order of self-governance in certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, submitted by President Petro Poroshenko, does not contain any provisions on the special status of Donbas.
The document only mentions those territories where the elections should be held and where a special order of the local self-government is due to be established, Groysman said.
According to Deinego, the document in fact speaks about the special status without mentioning the word “status.” The law will define the special aspects of the legislation’s application and the responsibility of Ukraine in certain areas.

“Uncoordinated amendments to the law made by [Ukrainian President Petro] Poroshenko are not recognized by the republics [DPR and LPR],” the Donetsk News Agency quoted Pushilin as saying.

Armed resistance requires RPGs and IEDs. You have to be able to neutralize armored vehicles and 50 calibre fire power.
