No Putin did not backstab the people of Yemen. They and their selfish factions did that all by themselves. In case you didn’t know, the houthis had received billions of dollars of Saudi military aid and cash to carry our Saudi Arabias agenda , it’s only after the Houthis took the money and weapons and then reneged on this deal that the Saudi bombing campaign began.
The houthis have huge weapons caches, an arms embargo only hurts the anti houthi militias because they don’t have the kind of supplies that the Houthis have. Putin knows this.

To start with,yes.But its a slippery slope to move on to assets of “allies” of the government.And which Russian big account holder couldn’t in some way be “shown” to be an ally of, or somehow involved with the Russian State.
They are seizing sovereign Russian assets, i.e. state and diplomatic property, so that is and has always been considered an act of war.

Foreign Minister Didier Reynders says Belgium will unblock Russian Embassy bank accounts that had been frozen over legal claims by shareholders of the former oil company Yukos.
A ministry spokesman quoted Reynders as saying on June 20 that “a solution has been found to unblock…accounts for the running of the embassies and the rest will follow.”
The ministry said Russian Embassy accounts held at ING Bank and accounts belonging to Moscow’s representative offices to the EU and NATO are among the first to be unfrozen.
Moscow threatened on June 19 to retaliate against Belgian-linked foreign firms operating in Russia after its official assets were frozen.
President Vladimir Putin added that “we will defend our interests.”
