But probably this will not go blood-less :(
It can certainly even trigger a big War :(
Because after that, unrest may finally start in other regions that also want more independence.
For this reason NATO will go over dead bodies trying to prevent this under all circumstances, not good.
If Donbass joins Russia, whether the Ukrops continue shelling or not, this will be over in a few days. I don’t see how this continuous artillery war serves the interest of the citizens of the area nor of the Russians. It serves the interests of the Neocons. Russia has little to lose, IMO. NATO is not going to start a nuclear war and conventionally, Afghanistan proves they’re a joke.
Nice guess. But what if guessed wrong? http://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/news_122159.htm
“Any attempt by the Russian-backed separatists to take over more of Ukraine’s territory would be unacceptable to the international community.”
I assume NATO, the State Department and their fellow idiots have a different understanding of this. To them DonBass is still an integral part of Ukraine.
Marie Harf and other comedians will explain us everything, if we only don’t ask too much ;)
Russia isn’t about to lose everything — or anything significant, for that matter — without the west being destroyed in the process.
It’s not clear a majority in Donetsk or Donbas would want to join Russia, although an alliance arrangement of some sort could be very good — not as a RF member republic, but something looser, with defense and trade treaties etc. All sorts of arrangements are possible. Two people can be brothers and yet live independently in separate households with their own families, for example, or families in a clan with strong ties and mutual obligations, while yet mostly separate. I would think historians can come up with some examples for nations or similar.
Референдум о “вхождении ДНР в состав Российской Федерации на правах отдельного субъекта РФ” готовят «власти» так называемой ДНР. Об этом «ОстроВу» сообщил источник, близкий к руководству «республики».
No specific source within the DNR was cited.
Never heard of this website until today. However, look at the top left and at the very bottom…
it reads: “””””the Donetsk-based Ostrov news agency reported Wednesday.”””””
Now, that appears to be the mistake.
It is a Kiev Nazi mouthpiece, rather than being “Donetsk based”.
Thanks for the pointer.
It sounded too good to be true.
It is disappointing that the Chinese with all their highly educated smart geniuses let such a mistake happen.
Although, wait a second: http://www.ostro.org != ostroV.
Is there another news agency with the additional ‘v’ as quoted by xinhuanet.com and ZH, which may indeed be Donetsk based?
Its a Ukrainian site.So we need to “take it with a grain of salt”. I’ve heard in the past vague talk about joining Russia. But unless something has changed lately, Putin doesn’t plan to accept them.He wants them as autonomous regions (Republics?) inside Ukraine. As a way to keep Russian influence there. So unless he realizes that’s impossible.Or all Ukraine gets liberated and all Ukraine rejoins Russia.I doubt just Donbass will.
You are right.
While their domain name is http://www.ostro.org, their full name is Ostrov with ‘v’, (as indicated by their logo on the same website in Cyrillic).
What a shit.
ZH also was too impatient and re-shared the mistaken Chinese article enthusiastically.
But to my honor: In the very first post I had written “If true, then it would”

So it’s CIA. I’ve seen some material that there are those in Ukraine who want to dump Donbas as a place which only brings loss to Ukraine, and fromt his it seems it’s an idea the CIA (or some faction of it) favors, perhaps as part of consolidating west Ukraine and getting out of a quagmire. Maybe China printed that to plant the idea in more minds and thinks it could be a good way out of the mess (considering alternatives such as bigger war). It’s good to look at the sub-text of this stuff and wonder who and what is under it.
I consider this a summary of “the education of Putin”….through hard lessons!
I think the US/West has always had a mesmerizing effect on those of former communist/dictatorial countries. It’s almost like the West is a Wizard that is able to present itself as a charming princess that all males want to be close to, but alas, turns out the princess is a monster that wants to turn you into obedient slave….
Certainly explains inexcusable inactions like this one, where after 15 years “in power”, this evil lizard is still allowed to range free.
The “Open Society” institute, also known as The Soros Foundation, may leave Russia in the near future because of its placement on the list of undesirable organizations.
According to the head of the committee “Civil Assistance” Svetlana Gannushkina, the Soros Foundation ceased to accept applications for grants.
“I’m afraid that the Soros Foundation is leaving Russia. They are very worried if we will be able to finish existing projects, if we will lose the opportunity to work with committed money,” – she told Interfax.
Nato launches largest airborne drills in Europe since end of Cold War
5,000 troops from 11 Nato allies are taking part in exercises across Germany, Italy, Bulgaria and Romania
So much for the article from the day before yesterday, claiming RF would never allow a military buildup along its borders.
Problem: There is hardly any way to prevent such events.
Five thousands troops would die with one missile strike.Russia isn’t really overly worried about something like that. What people mean by a buildup, is numbers in the 100,000+ range. That would mean they might be actually preparing for an invasion. One type of clue would be if Reserves in the West are being called up.And/or they reinstate the military draft.
But such bad signs were already visible.
Maybe not the last step of that, but all the preparations started already 2014 and this spring.
Here a few headlines:
Soldiers from Russia’s 154th Preobrazhensky Independent Commandant’s regiment has arrived in Beijing to join the joint rehearsal for the Sept. 3 parade on Tian’anmen Square, Russian media reported.
Preparation is being made for the military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression on Sept. 3.
Beijing will hold a military parade on Sept. 3 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. World leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, have been invited to attend the event.
The Russian soldiers, 85 in all, will stay at a military area in the Changping District of Beijing and will join training immediately upon arrival, Russian RIA Novosti news agency quoted sources from Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs as saying.
The 154th Preobrazhensky Independent Commandant’s regiment was formed in 1979. Since then, its guard of honor has participated in every military parade on Moscow’s Red Square.
The guard of honor of the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) had attended the May 9 parade on Red Square marking the 70 anniversary of the victory of Russia’s Great Patriotic War.
Statement by acting NATO spokesperson on the situation in eastern Ukraine
19 Aug. 2015 | Press Release 2015 113Issued on 19 Aug. 2015 | Last updated: 19 Aug. 2015 18:29
Today, NATO Allies discussed the situation in eastern Ukraine. Allies expressed their serious concern about the recent sharp escalation of violence.
In the discussions, Allies stressed the need for all parties to de-escalate tensions and exercise restraint.
They underlined that the focus must be on pursuing a solution through diplomatic means. The full implementation of the Minsk agreements is the path to peace.
Russia has a special responsibility to find a political solution.
(This is the best laugh.) Any attempt by the Russian-backed separatists to take over more of Ukraine’s territory would be unacceptable to the international community.
(Avoids the shelling by the Ukies of OSCE and civilians)
The OSCE monitors must be able to do their job safely and without restrictions.
NATO stands firm in our support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Allies reaffirmed that an independent, sovereign and stable Ukraine, firmly committed to democracy and the rule of law, is key to security in the Euro-Atlantic area.
NATO will continue to follow the situation very closely.
(First they destabilize it, then they demand Russia fix it.)
What this tells me is that NATO understands that their days have passed. They will never have a country they can just go bomb and get away with it. They will never put thousands of boots on the ground and get away with it. Europe and the Atlanticists will be tucked down behind a defensive wall hoping the rest of the world doesn’t come obliterate them for all the crimes they have committed.
Ukraine was their last big thing. It is broken. Fractured. Raped and stolen blind.
I’m not sure if anyone has seen the great videos that Graham Phillips is doing right now in Crimea. He is traveling over Crimea and interviewing tourists visiting there. It looks like the beaches he’s at are crowded with tourists having a fine old time there.I remember the Western MSM saying (with glee) that Crimea was going to really suffer without Ukrainian tourists. But it seems they aren’t going without Ukrainian tourists after all.And the junta is really mad about it.It seems some Ukrainians are getting away from the bad troubles in Ukraine and going to Crimea on vacation.Graham has interviewed some Ukrainians on vacation there. And here is an article about the lucky Ukrainians.Makes me wonder if Ukrainians are so willing to flock to Russian “occupied” territory to enjoy themselves.Just how “anti-Russian is the average Ukrainian.I suspect that “all Ukrainians” are anti-Russian BS we hear a lot,is just that,BS :
“Kiev Furious Over Ukrainians Going to Crimea for Holidays”
An endless number of Ukrainian cars keep crossing the border into Crimea, as Ukrainians come to the Russian peninsula for holidays, Ukrainian news channel Uapress.info reported.
In response, Ukrainian radicals have urged to make lists of “traitors,” who decided to take their vacation on the Russian peninsula and threatened to punish them later.
“I recently spoke with Ilya Kiva, the deputy head of the Kherson regional department of the Ukrainian Armed forces. He said Ukrainians are going to the occupied Crimea for holidays en masse. According to their car plates, holiday-goers are from Donetsk, Lugansk, Kharkov and Kiev,” Ukrainian politician Dmytro Korchynsky said, according to the source.
Korchynsky was worried by the trend and said Ukraine should make the list of those who chose to go to the peninsula “occupied” by Russia.
Crimea has always been regarded as a perfect destination for tourists. The number of tourists that are expected to visit the peninsula during the 2015 holiday season stands at 4.3 million people, which is a 15 percent increase from 2014.
In March 2014, Crimea seceded from Ukraine and re-united with Russia. The secession took place after a nationalist government came to power in Kiev through an illegal coup in February 2014, which alienated Crimea’s majority Russian-speaking population of 2.4 million.
Crimea refused to recognize the legitimacy of the new authorities in Kiev, and staged a referendum in March 2014, in which 96 percent of voters chose to join Russia.
Early in the report, it was discussed that over the last week orc infiltrators have been caught trying to enter DPR and LPR all across the front. These are likely both artillery spotters and terrorist/assassination operatives. More indication the junta regime is planning an new assault, or at least a new intensification of their terrorist attacks on the republics and these infiltrators are to be behind the lines support for these.
The Chinese military is about to give its American counterpart the boot in the tiny country of Djibouti – the strategically critical entrance from the Indian Ocean to the Red Sea located in the Horn of Africa.
The United States is about to lose one of its military installations in the Republic of Djibouti, America’s largest permanent military base in Africa and the home to more than 4,000 US personnel.
The government of the tiny country has seemingly had a change of heart and now wants to host a Chinese military contingent of about 10,000 instead.
“The announcement, made the day after US Secretary of State John Kerry visited Djibouti last May, is deeply worrying for Pax Americana, for it comes on top of a major package of economic investments by China that has Djiboutian President Guelleh openly talking about the importance of his new friends from Asia,” Eritrea-based journalist Thomas Mountain pointed out.
Ouch. But it hurts the zionazis even more because zionazi, inc. has very little real influence in China, despite decades of dedicated work towards that (I witnessed some planning of how that influence is peddled there in 1990, BTW).
Indeed, the tiny African nation has long been attracting the attention of global players. The country lies at the gateway to the Suez Canal, one of the world’s busiest, and at the same time provides a port to landlocked Ethiopia.
But what is more important the Republic of Djibouti is a key to both Africa and the Middle East. Its geographical position makes it especially attractive to global powers’ military installations.
In his article “US vs China in Djibouti” published by Counterpunch.org, Mountain underscored that the Pentagon pays Djibouti almost $63 million a year for the use of Camp Lemonnier. The US military installation also serves as one of the world’s largest drone bases.
In contrast, Beijing is ready to make Djibouti far more generous offers. For instance, China is currently completing a $3 billion railroad from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Djibouti. “[Beijing] is also investing $400 million in modernizing Djibouti’s notoriously undersized port,” the journalist remarked.
Needless to say, the prospect of coexisting with a Chinese military contingent of 10,000 is unnerving US lawmakers and the Pentagon, prompting a debate about “violations of human rights” in the tiny African state.
“So don’t be surprised if we wake up one morning and find that in the name of “democracy” there has been a military coup in Djibouti,” Mountain noted with a touch of bitter irony.
Sergei Donskoi, the Russian Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment, is a lucky man. He will have a chance to meet former model and actress Pamela Anderson to discuss the important issue of whale conservation, said Nikolai Gudkov, an official representative of the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Earlier, the Canadian-born celebrity, known for her stunning looks and passionate support for environmental issues, wrote an official letter to the Russian government, asking to meet either Vladimir Putin himself or Donskoi to discuss how her environmental organization, the Pamela Anderson Foundation, could work together with the Russian government on environmental issues.
“I would like to be able to work in cooperation with the voices of compassion in Russia and thus I am hopeful that you can grant me an audience with the President or the Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment,” a statement from the Pamela Anderson Foundation said.
Putin might have been too busy to meet with Anderson, but Donskoi was quick to accept Pamela’s invitation.
“Sergei Donskoi is ready to meet with the actress… to discuss the issue of whale conservation in the wild,” the official representative of the Ministry said.
In the past Anderson praised Russia’s efforts of boycotting Canadian products made from dead seal pups. The former model thanked Russia for addressing the issue of seal pup killings, a problem she’s very concerned about.
When it comes to environmental protection, Anderson just never quits. Earlier this month, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society brought forth a story about the Winter Bay, a cargo vessel stocked with 770 kg (1,700 lbs) of illegally captured whale meat, planning to sail from Iceland to Japan through the Northwest Passage. Part of the cargo’s route would be through Russian territorial waters and Anderson hopes to use Russia’s international influence to prevent the ship with the illegally captured whale meat from reaching Japan.
MOSCOW — The icebreaker Moscow cut a channel through a wall of ice to free more than 1,000 white whales trapped since late January in a shallow strait between Alaska and northern Siberia, an Isvestia correspondent said today.
Reporter Rafail Bikmukhametov said the icebreaker succeeded on its second attempt to free the huge herd of white whales, also known as beluga whales and polar dolphins.
More than 1,000 of the mammals were cut off from the open sea last month by a wall of ice created by constant easterly winds that howled from Alaska across the strait to the barren Siberian coast. An estimated 40 of the whales have died since becoming trapped.
Helicopters dropped fresh fish to the trapped whales while the icebreaker worked to open a channel for their escape. “Operation Beluga” has cost the Soviet government about $80,000 so far, Bikmukhametov said.
Thailand has sent an image of the suspected bomber who killed 20 people on Monday in Bangkok to the Interpol asking for their assistance. The international police force will look for a young man who was caught on CCTV cam leaving a backpack at the Erawan shrine, a popular tourist attraction. Thai police have also issued an arrest warrant for an “unidentified foreign man” in a yellow shirt who was seen in the video footage and said that two other men seen on the footage were accomplices.
I’m sure interpol will be very interested in helping Thailand catch these Israeli-American terrorists…(cough, cough).
The bombing on Monday evening, August 17, 2015, has killed up to 20 people, injured over 100 more, and stands as one of the worst single terrorist attacks in Thailand’s capital of Bangkok in recent memory. The attack targeted a religious shrine popular with Asian tourists – particularly from China – who now comprise the largest demographic group of visitors to Thailand.
It is clear the attack was a precision strike on Thailand’s economy, and specifically against a very precise segment of Thailand’s tourist market. Commentators have admitted that many other targets with higher concentrations of tourists exist throughout Bangkok. Terrorists specifically struck the Erawan Shrine in downtown Bangkok to target Thailand’s Asian tourists.
Thailand’s Bombing Amid a Larger Struggle
Thus, the bombing in Bangkok, whether it was carried out by the US-backed regime of Shinawatra itself, US-Saudi linked terrorists from the south, or terrorists the US imported from Chechnya, the Middle East or China’s Xinjiang where the US is currently trying to foment yet another violent insurrection, was an act of coercion to steer Thailand away from its own foreign policy, and back toward serving American foreign policy.
In terms of military cooperation, economic trade, and political ties, Thailand is not the only nation attempting to escape out from under American hegemony. Malaysia and Myanmar have been fighting very visible battles against US-backed proxies. Should one or more of these states fully escape, it will create a cascading effect that will topple all of America’s “Great ASEAN Wall.”
For BRICS – a geopolitical alliance promoting the emergence of a multipolar world – they must recognize ASEAN’s struggle out from under Western hegemony and assist them if even only through the media – exposing to the world the ties between the US and various regional political factions and ties between the US, its allies, and regional terrorist organizations used when staged protests are impossible.
For ASEAN states themselves, they must resist the urge to capitulate in the face of terrorism and support neighboring nations in their bid to preserve national sovereignty.
It is clear who has an “ax to grind” against Thailand. The only question that remains is how big that ax is, and how many times it will fall upon Thailand before those wielding it can be disarmed.
Thailand, Indonesia, perhaps Malaysia are all target countries for ISIS and similar if they don’t toe the line.
Australia – member of five eyes, brings in a government with the slogan of stop the boats. Australia now has a wall across the north.
A short time ago when those countries to the north of us where swamped with boat refugees from Myanmar (unknown why the sudden flood), US was calling on Thailand, Malaysia ect to take in the refugees.
Five eyes is walled off, but target countries must take in refugees? Setting a precedent here I suspect for if ISIS types need to be imported into these countries.
Did anybody else notice that Stanica Luganskaya seems to have changed status in the South Front videos?
In all prior videos, the town was depicted with a circular icon containing the Novorossiya flag. But in the video “18.08.2015 Military Report of Novorossia”, the town is depicted with a plain white circular icon.
Has the LPR lost control of Stanica Luganskaya? :(
Completely out of topic.
President Putin apparently stated yesterday in Yalta, that some countries had openly boasted funding/helping/initiating unrest in Crimea.
Do anybody know his exact words, and which Western officials he may have in thought, and their own quotes?
Thank you very much for your help!
Ah, and about Djibouti, as a French citizen remembering the conditions of “independence” in 1977, well… I guess no contradiction frightens the US as long as it is in the interests of its “elites”, does it? So I fear very much for this country.
I don’t believe the West understands that their aggression has woken the sleeping bear.Maybe not within the Russian government. But among the Russian peoples. And that in the future will go very badly for the West.As an example of words from Russia constantly seen is this:
We – the winners. We have nothing to apologize for.
August. During the last summer month in different parts of the world celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Second World War and the victory over Japan. But at the same time a storm erupted scandals related to the interpretation of events of bygone days. Some states require apart apologize for the earlier disaster, none of the parties does not wish to give his version and said the only true. These disputes are also relevant to our country.
They have never apologized for Hiroshima
August 6, the anniversary of the first US nuclear attack on Japan, Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui invited the American president to visit the city and see the consequences of unjustifiable cruelty.
But so far none of the leaders of the United States did not do so and seem unlikely to meet in the future. But the Americans have once again demanded an apology from the Japanese government for the actions of their country during the Second World War. And Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe apologized, but said that the postwar generation do not have to bear the burden of infinite guilt.
There is a history professor at American University in Washington, Peter Kuznik said the words Abe can not meet the inhabitants of the countries affected by the Japanese aggression.
An old truth says that the fate of the losers always unenviable. Germany still pays the compensation, but to impose its all new claims for old accounts. In a similar situation in Japan. But these countries have officially surrendered.
Unnecessary game “giveaway”
But the strange looks the part apology from Russia, which seems to be ready to take responsibility for almost all the sins of mankind. And this background that the United States does not apologize for Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the chemical attack on Vietnam, the bombing of Yugoslavia and brought down in 1989, the Iranian civilian aircraft. France did not apologize for the occupation of Algeria and half African. Turkey refuses to recognize the Armenian genocide. The heads of all these countries recognize the fact of suffering from the actions of their states, but do not consider themselves wrong.
Russia apologized for everything, for that is possible. And there is nothing surprising in the fact that in speeches and official documents of foreign countries, can be seen to recognize the Kaliningrad region subject of international law and called into question affiliation Russian Kuril Islands.
Latvia and Lithuania regularly calculate the damage from the “Soviet occupation”. Ukraine demands compensation for “famine.” But the Poles did not apologized and repented not of the destruction of nearly 100 thousand Red Army soldiers in Tucholsky camp during the Soviet-Polish war immediately after the revolution.
Of course, playing with interpretations of historical events have always been a need to justify the merits of the claim, which is clearly seen in the scandals surrounding the anniversary of the 70th anniversary of the victory over Japan.
But why should we compromise? After all, if the game continues, the Russian leaders will soon have to apologize and for the return of the Crimea, which was seen by our people with great glee.
Remember how to repent for past began late Soviet Union Gorbachev era. He began to do with the recognition of responsibility for Katyn. Although the story is very controversial, evidence that the Soviet soldiers shot Polish prisoners of war, no. But the Soviet Union recognized the blame for political reasons. At that time it was one of the conditions of the West to further development of relations, but rather, to save the regime of Gorbachev. After that, the blame for the Katyn recognized under Yeltsin. Then he asked for forgiveness for the Baltic States and so on.
We will wrestle for truth
Lack of political will and character in the Gorbachev and Yeltsin’s leadership – are the two main reasons for the recognition of the crimes that were not. Now should definitely fix the fact that these comrades have done in the 1980-90s.
We must declare our position on the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, explaining that regard the Munich Agreement of 1938 as the beginning of World War II. It should be said about our position on many historical facts, it is necessary to abandon the old confessions.
We need to behave aggressively. For the West, trying to rewrite history, constantly demands repentance from Russia. But if we are headed for a return of sovereignty, it simply must act principally in the information field.
We must always remember that we – the winners. And we do not apologize!
Sergei Cherkasov
There may be one less US company in Russia soon (good riddance). The company Cargill forced a Russian employee to resign when he made a comment saying that the companies sponsoring a gay pride parade was an “abomination”.The Russian government is investigating it under the labor laws. But many of the Russian population are outraged and demanding the nationalization of the company,or their expulsion from Russia.
America’s Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty engages in rare criticism of Ukrainian ultra-nationalists living in eastern Ukraine; apparently they are what we Americans call “chickenhawks,” i.e., warmongers who refuse to fight in the wars they helped start.
PCR makes mistakes in his thinking about policies and situations — including his understanding of Reagan. I think he’s simply wrong about this — and that Putin never engages in wishful thinking. PCR has been pushing for Russia to be ore aggressive all along, without understanding the costs involved.
PCR has been pushing for Russia to be ore aggressive all along, without understanding the costs involved.
Or maybe he does understand the costs…he may not have Novorussia’s or Russia’s best interests at heart. But, instead a variation of American interests, that are at variance to Novorussian/Russian interests. Then again, he could be just an emotional “southern boy” (rather ubiquitous critter, unfortunately, from that region of the USA) prone to act from emotional stimuli, rather than use the brain.
As a writer from the American right who does often nail down some ignored, uncomfortable, things, and who often sounds almost like a left wing activist, PCR has his uses. But he still promotes a lot of absurd things. Such as his view of raygun and the roll that regime, and its handlers, played in undermining necessary reform of the US regime. Also, equally important he described the American Civil War as “the war of yankee aggression”, a common confederate phrase seeking sympathy for their treason and desire to continue the slavocracy (BTW, I am not claiming PCR wants to bring back slavery, but that he bought into the BS of those who never progressed from that rubbish, whether a thinking fault, or one of indoctrination, that kind of mentally absent “thinking” is ubiquitous among American “southerners” who claim they are “rebels”). So it is important to bear in mind, that while PCR does often come across as logical, rational, he’s still a rightwing American from “the south”, and his irrational/illogical inconsistencies (to put it diplomatically) reflect that.
But that caveat aside, I wish more people of the right and centre in the USA, the vast majority of Americans, BTW, (due to long term, scientific indoctrination – thanks Jewish zionazis for making sure it continued to work after the awakening during “the 1960’s”), would take the time to read/listen what PCR has to say. He’s a far cry better than the rest of the rightwing American commentators, and puts the American based zionazi media “liberal” phonies, along with many of the more international phony left AZZ types (Gilad Atzmon term for the zionist phony left) of sayanim to absolute shame.
It’s fairly obvious now that an offensive from Kiev is underway and will become more intense soon as more and more weapons are move up into position to attack Donbas and Donetsk. So it’s not a question of if all out war will come, but exactly when, and what the best way to defend and mount counteroffensive is.
This game of ‘Russia is an aggressor and US/NATO can’t be given an excuse to attack’ is about dried up. So the MSM says this, and people hear it, and whine about Putin and Russia for an extra 10 minutes a day, on top of an hours or whining about the crashing economy, while the fascist governments do whatever they want anyway. If they want war with Russia they will start one, regardless of excuses.
Is trying to delay it, maybe bearing fruit, to the advantage of Russia, including internal consolidation and countering the 5th column? That seems to me to be the question regarding the timing, and the question regarding the empire starting the war is if they think they can do it with advantage — and perhaps there is some timing at work there too as the various sectors — pro war, anti war, etc. — of the US jostle for position.
But how does China mesh with all this? Are they in play? And what of the predicted crash in September by many analysts?
Q; It’s fairly obvious now that an offensive from Kiev is underway and will become more intense soon as more and more weapons are move up into position to attack Donbas and Donetsk.
Traced back the “reports” of what that AUG 11 Tianjin port explosion was really, back to this guy Duff, a known disinfo braggart who only showed up BTW in 2010, a true johnnie come lately!
Anyway, note he had “the goods” within 24 hours at most, so he could have had the story already to go, but it was embargoed till the big day (like the PATRIOT ACT?)
Naw, that’s never happened b4! I just told you it has.
The scholar underscored that if Kiev attacks “almost certainly” the Ukrainian army will be crushed by the independence supporters.
“If that is the prospect the danger is that the United States and NATO will step in,” the professor warned, adding that the NATO intervention could trigger a domino effect engaging the Kremlin against its own will in the military conflict.
“Then the United States and NATO would need to react and then we would be basically at war with Russia. And ‘at war’ means two nations who have nuclear weapons… So that is catastrophic possibility,” he added.
Professor Cohen noted that he believes that Kiev will not make such an insane move, but there is still a possibility that it will.
And it is really alarming, the professor stressed, since “the consequences of an attempt by Kiev to take Donbass by force could lead to a direct American-Russian war.”
OT. it looks like Australia is about to fully turn against our largest trading partner, China, to join the US pivot on China.
China helped carry Australia through the GFC relatively unscathed, whereas US buys very little from Australia.
While concerns have been growing for several years, as political and economic contradictions become more acute, they have only come to the surface following Beijing’s erratic policy response to the recent boom and bust of the Chinese share market.
Mr Varghese’s concerns about the region which has propelled Australian growth for decades are mirrored in the strategic realm, as China, Russia and also Islamic State are seen to challenge the peaceful “rules-based order” that earlier strategists had taken for granted.
Yeah, looks like Oz, a sheety nation of what 21MM, is going to show those 1.5B Chinee who’s running things! LOL.
Just wait till 2019, if the economy can stagger along that long, till Russia gets that big new Yakutsk Power of Siberia NG pipeline built & pumping into China.
U think China doesn’t want to clean up its air & get rid of a ridiculous inefficient supply train of endless coal ships coming in to port from hostile foreigners, when they can consolidate & move to a completely internal energy system by running those same plants on NG.
So that day, when they implode the WA state economy by refusing any more coal, is just 4-5 years away.
Militia say Kiev forces’ grouping of troops in Donbas built up to 90,000.
The troops are concentrated in four sectors – Mariupol, Donetsk, Debaltsevo, and Luhansk.
On Thursday, August 20 the grouping of pro-Kiev armed units in eastern Ukraine totaled 90,000 men and officers, 450 tanks, 203 salvo artillery units, and five Tochka-U missile complexes, Eduard Basurin, a top official at the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic told the Donetsk News Agency.
The troops are concentrated in four sectors – Mariupol, Donetsk, Debaltsevo, and Luhansk.
Ukraine’s Donetsk republic says it has information on Kiev’s plans to encircle Donetsk
“A total of five separate mechanized brigades, two separate tanks brigades, and air mobile brigade, an artillery brigade, and a salvo system brigade have been deployed … to advance to Mariupol,” the official, Eduard Basurin said. “All in all, this grouping has 22,500 men and officers, more than 130 tanks, more than 560 armored cars, fifty-five salvo artillery units, about 200 artillery guns and mortars, and about 720 antitank weapons.”
According to the data available to the Defense Ministry, the pro-Kiev forces have concentrated thirteen brigades one tank brigade, one air mobile, one artillery, one salvo system brigade and two air mobile brigades in the Donetsk sector. A brigade equipped with Tochka-U tactical missiles has also been deployed there.
As many as five separate mechanized brigades, a tank brigade, three artillery brigades, and a salvo system brigade are currently located in the Debaltsevo sector. This grouping has up to 19,500 men and officers, about 70 tanks, 45 salvo artillery systems, and about 230 artillery guns and mortars.
A grouping of four separate mechanized brigades, two artillery brigades and a salvo artillery system brigade is poised to advance towards Lugansk. It has a combined 18,000-strong manpower, about 60 tanks, about 530 infantry combat vehicles and/or armored personnel carriers, 30 multiple-launch (salvo) systems, close to 230 artillery guns and mortars and more than a thousand antimech weapons, Basurin said.
Reconnaissance data available to the DPR defense officials suggests the Ukrainian Army commanders have pooled a considerable reserve of forces consisting of two tank, four air mobile, three artillery brigades, one airborne and one salvo artillery system brigade.
Kiev plans to encircle Donetsk
Basurin said earlier on Thursday that the Defense Ministry of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) has information that the Ukrainian armed forces are preparing an offensive in the Donetsk Region in east Ukraine.
“Information has been received about the plan of forthcoming actions by the Ukrainian army from a source in the Ukrainian General Staff and, no matter how strange this may seem, there are still true officers there who do not want to fight against their own people,” Basurin said at a briefing in the press center of the Donetsk News Agency.
According to Basurin, the Ukrainian military will launch an offensive in the Mariupol and Debaltsevo directions after “artillery shelling of the DPR’s positions.”
“Kiev plans to deliver two converging blows in the direction of the settlement of Uspenka to defeat the DPR and advance to the border with Russia and subsequently prevent civilians from reaching the Russian territory,” Basurin said.
“Along with this, two groupings [of Kiev’s forces] are intended to launch an offensive in the Donetsk direction north and south of Donetsk towards Ilovaisk, close the circle around the republic’s capital and encircle the city,” the spokesman said.
In the Luhansk direction, Kiev’s forces are planning to hold separate combat operations against the militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic to prevent their redeployment to provide support to the DPR, the spokesman said.
“Further on, active offensive operations will be launched in the Luhansk direction with the aim to advance to the border with Russia,” Basurin said.
According to the DPR Defense Ministry, Kiev hopes this blitzkrieg will help it crush the militia and destroy the Donbass republics.
“At the same time, it would be nice to remind these ‘wise guys’ in the Ukrainian General Staff that the attempts to carry through such ‘Napoleon plans’ were made before but all this ended in the encirclement of the Ukrainian troops near Izvarino and Ilovaisk where a great number of Ukrainian soldiers died,” the DRP Defense Ministry spokesman said.
Thousands have been killed and hundreds of thousands of people have fled Ukraine’s embattled east as a result of clashes between Ukrainian troops and local militias in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions during Kiev’s military operation, launched in mid-April 2014 to regain control over parts of the breakaway territories, which call themselves the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.
Seriously,if the NAF defeats this attack they need to push the Ukie’s back out of all the occupied Donbass. Not doing so would be a criminal error and their leaders would need replacement with some others that will do so.This obscene shelling, and attacks on Donbass must be brought to an end ,no matter the cost to relationships with “our (fascist) pardners” in the ‘”World Community”.
What is not being discussed outside Germany to any very great degree is that in Germany itself the myth is starting to fray, even amongst Germans who do not follow the news closely and who would normally be expected to support her.
The cause is not the Ukrainian crisis but the latest bailout of Greece.
The statue was cast in 2013 by Tsereteli, the famous Georgian-Russian sculptor, known for his gigantic projects such as a statue of Peter the Great in Moscow and ‘The Tear of Grief’ in the United States, dedicated to the struggle against world terrorism.
The monument stands 50 metres taller than the world famous ‘Christ the Redeemer’ in Rio de Janeiro, and two metres higher than ‘The Christ the King’ in Lisbon.
This could lead to some serious rooskie humor jokes going around inside and outside russia, if this thing really goes through.
Thank you SouthFront comrades for your constant good work!
Unfortunately rarely really good news.
Maybe this can finally change, if true:
Rebels in Ukraine’s Donetsk plan referendum on joining Russia: media

East Ukraine’s Donetsk Republic Will Hold Referendum To Join Russia
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-08-19/east-ukraines-donetsk-republic-will-hold-referendum-join-russia

“Any attempt by the Russian-backed separatists to take over more of Ukraine’s territory would be unacceptable to the international community.”
Russia has a lot to lose: EVERYTHING
but what if the rebels simply secede and join RF but did not ” take over more of Ukraine’s territory” ?
Haha, that was a good one …
I assume NATO, the State Department and their fellow idiots have a different understanding of this. To them DonBass is still an integral part of Ukraine.
Marie Harf and other comedians will explain us everything, if we only don’t ask too much ;)
Until then there is this still:

Russia isn’t about to lose everything — or anything significant, for that matter — without the west being destroyed in the process.
It’s not clear a majority in Donetsk or Donbas would want to join Russia, although an alliance arrangement of some sort could be very good — not as a RF member republic, but something looser, with defense and trade treaties etc. All sorts of arrangements are possible. Two people can be brothers and yet live independently in separate households with their own families, for example, or families in a clan with strong ties and mutual obligations, while yet mostly separate. I would think historians can come up with some examples for nations or similar.
This is what Xinhua is reporting from:

Never heard of this website until today. However, look at the top left and at the very bottom…
WTF: But from where and how do you know or how did you find out, that they are the original src?
“Interesting” site we should send to the moon.
They have a large banner on top which advertises https://stopterror.in.ua/
I hope the Chinese are more professional than using such a shit as input for their news agency.
Ok, you are right.
Found the answer myself:
In http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2015-08/19/c_134535215.htm and repeated 1:1 by http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-08-19/east-ukraines-donetsk-republic-will-hold-referendum-join-russia
it reads: “””””the Donetsk-based Ostrov news agency reported Wednesday.”””””
Although, wait a second: http://www.ostro.org != ostroV.
Is there another news agency with the additional ‘v’ as quoted by xinhuanet.com and ZH, which may indeed be Donetsk based?

https://www.google.de/search?q=ostrov+news+agency&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&gws_rd=cr&ei=eTnVVZrqAebVygOnh4eADQ
NO, unlikely.
Because as early as in April 2014 the infamous Kyivpost dirt-crap quoted them already:
http://www.kyivpost.com/content/ukraine/protesters-seize-building-of-ukrainian-security-services-donetsk-dept-342294.html
So the Chinese either fell into a trap, or those responsible gor some extra $$$ from the CIA.
But to my honor: In the very first post I had written “If true, then it would”
Tnx for your help in debunking this.
Your welcome.I saw the side banner on their site. Its Yellow and Blue with the EU Stars on it.So I think that said it all.
At bottom of that source is:

So it’s CIA. I’ve seen some material that there are those in Ukraine who want to dump Donbas as a place which only brings loss to Ukraine, and fromt his it seems it’s an idea the CIA (or some faction of it) favors, perhaps as part of consolidating west Ukraine and getting out of a quagmire. Maybe China printed that to plant the idea in more minds and thinks it could be a good way out of the mess (considering alternatives such as bigger war). It’s good to look at the sub-text of this stuff and wonder who and what is under it.
Excellent digging from you all!
Another good reason for going through the comments, as well as reading the articles.
Maybe the subtext is an ‘offer’ of sorts?
Just came across this very good article on US-Russia relations from a Russian emigre:
http://russia-insider.com/en/legendary-chess-grandmaster-and-defector-us-russia-policy-costly-mistake-lev-alburt/ri9277

So much for the article from the day before yesterday, claiming RF would never allow a military buildup along its borders.
Problem: There is hardly any way to prevent such events.
Dangerous :(
Five thousands troops would die with one missile strike.Russia isn’t really overly worried about something like that. What people mean by a buildup, is numbers in the 100,000+ range. That would mean they might be actually preparing for an invasion. One type of clue would be if Reserves in the West are being called up.And/or they reinstate the military draft.
Ok, agreed.
But such bad signs were already visible.
Maybe not the last step of that, but all the preparations started already 2014 and this spring.

Russian soldiers in Beijing for parade rehearsal

Have a good laugh from NATO:
NATO will continue to follow the situation very closely.
http://www.nato.int/cps/en/natohq/news_122159.htm
(First they destabilize it, then they demand Russia fix it.)
What this tells me is that NATO understands that their days have passed. They will never have a country they can just go bomb and get away with it. They will never put thousands of boots on the ground and get away with it. Europe and the Atlanticists will be tucked down behind a defensive wall hoping the rest of the world doesn’t come obliterate them for all the crimes they have committed.
Ukraine was their last big thing. It is broken. Fractured. Raped and stolen blind.
South Front: Yes, good explanation of the strategic importance of Gorlovka ( railroad nexus). plus isn’t there a big major coal mine in the area also?

Not Welcome Anymore? Chinese Military Giving US Troops the Boot in Djibouti

Pamela Anderson, Russian Minister to Save Whales Together
Some history many may not remember:
Soviet Ship Cracks Wall of Ice to Free Trapped Whales
That was in 1985.

Thailand seeks Interpol’s help in tracking down Bangkok bombing suspect
Follow-up. A lot more detail from Tony Cartalucci:
Bangkok Blast: Who Has Ax To Grind With Thailand?
On a lighter note, here’s some “comic relief” …
Statue of Obama and his dog Saakashvili appears in Odessa
Completely out of topic.
President Putin apparently stated yesterday in Yalta, that some countries had openly boasted funding/helping/initiating unrest in Crimea.
Do anybody know his exact words, and which Western officials he may have in thought, and their own quotes?
Thank you very much for your help!
Ah, and about Djibouti, as a French citizen remembering the conditions of “independence” in 1977, well… I guess no contradiction frightens the US as long as it is in the interests of its “elites”, does it? So I fear very much for this country.
If he is saying that he should name names.
He never does, when speaking of his wrongdoing “partners”.
Yet I would like to know who said what.

In Ukraine’s West, Patriotism Is One Thing. Fighting’s Quite Another

America’s Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty engages in rare criticism of Ukrainian ultra-nationalists living in eastern Ukraine; apparently they are what we Americans call “chickenhawks,” i.e., warmongers who refuse to fight in the wars they helped start.

By now even PCR says Minsk has failed, and will it’s failure leads to Putin’s failure:
http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2015/08/18/minsk-agreement-failed-paul-craig-roberts/
He’s a far cry better than the rest of the rightwing American commentators, and puts the American based zionazi media “liberal” phonies, along with many of the more international phony left AZZ types (Gilad Atzmon term for the zionist phony left) of sayanim to absolute shame.
new report for 20th at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ1_yDFJqhk
It’s fairly obvious now that an offensive from Kiev is underway and will become more intense soon as more and more weapons are move up into position to attack Donbas and Donetsk. So it’s not a question of if all out war will come, but exactly when, and what the best way to defend and mount counteroffensive is.
Two new articles …

Is Donbass on the verge of a new offensive and will there be a Minsk-3?
————————–
Too complicated for me to sort out…

Mr Varghese’s speech to the Lowy Institute marks a paradigm shift in the way Canberra sees the world since the optimistic vista presented by the Asian Century White Paper of four years ago.

Russia, come fourth!
And LO! it came to pass.
BUT, why would the WB, ensconced as it is in the very city of the Pentagram, be crowing about russia?
China Overtakes US, Russia Overtakes Germany. At least according to the latest revision of the World Bank’s PPP-adjusted GDP estimates.
China has long been expected to overtake the US economy (one economist dated it to as early as 2010), and there had already been a flurry in the media when the IMF claimed the same thing in December last year.

OnanAnon,Q; Russia, come fourth [sic]!

What is not being discussed outside Germany to any very great degree is that in Germany itself the myth is starting to fray, even amongst Germans who do not follow the news closely and who would normally be expected to support her.
The cause is not the Ukrainian crisis but the latest bailout of Greece.
Statue, Vlad? LOL.
http://russia-insider.com/en/russians-build-tallest-jesus-statue-world-pacific-coast/ri9281
Why,I don’t remember all that many jokes in Brazil about the Rio statue? Why would a statue honoring Christ in Russia call for joking?
