Title should be 12-07-2015 … instead of 2-07-2015 .., of course.
Russia should be helping more, maybe, to secure the ‘border’ and area of Donetsk and Lugansk being shelled — but this doesn’t mean advancing for more territory now, just stopping the shelling in violation of Minsk cease fire. It should be far more costly to Kiev or guard to engage in these attacks.
Though am suspicious of recent Right Sector/SBU+UAF conflict in the West. Yarosh (who is clearly positioning himself towards centrist rather than ultra nationalism) is itching to ‘liberate’the Donbass (plenty of spoils for successful invaders) and to challenge Porks.
Yats hopes they’ll neutralize each other.
There is a clear escalation – that has to be responded to, and not only with more humanitarian aid.
Russian volunteers with army experience..need a ‘holiday’ in the near-West.
It was a TV debate on a German TV station where the German minister of defence responded to the accusations that the Russian army is involved in this conflict.
His answer was: “If the Russian army would be involved and positioned on the Ukraian territory, the war would be over in three days”
Obviously he admitted that there are some Russian volunteers fighting on the separatist side, but these are definitely fighters not representing the Russian army.
Putin knows very well that the west can’t wait to frame him into this conflict just to start the WWIII.
Russia could supply Donbas with ‘defensive weapons’ as the US is doing Kiev, and give training, as the US is doing for Kiev, quite openly. The US is doing far more than that semi-covertly, of course.
But Russia has to give up on the idea of saving the whole of Ukraine right off — possible ther could be some reunification or federalization at some future time, but no one should hold their breath for it: it could take a generation or three, even, considering the death and destruction Ukraine has rained on Novorossia.
Strelkov reports Right Sector being pulled from Donetsk. Hopefully the Govt troops will also pull back to kiev, and they can fight themselves to the death there and in western Ukraine.
South Front: It is encouraging that you are reporting response by the DPR forces so that at the end of the day they have succeeded in their slap down of the Ukies to the extent that they are dealing only with “residual artillery” LPR front concerns me.
This is an interesting article from the supposedly independent public Canadian broadcaster, the CBC -under assault by Harper ever since he became PM. Count the spin, unsubstantiated assertions and outright lies, amongst the obvious.
Canadian embassy used as safe haven during Ukraine uprising, investigation finds
Some allies say incident means Canada was an active participant in regime change
I wonder what the people who were arrested at the Toronto G-20 summit feel about Harper aiding real rioters in other countries. He uses an iron fist against legitimate protesters in Canada.
The rioters in Ukraine were led by the neo-Fascist Pravy Sektor whereas the protesters in Toronto and others just coming out of restaurants who were ‘kettled’, rounded up, processed and incarcerated for a while were the complete opposite of Fascist.
Harper is fascist. Birds of a fascist feather flock together. Hope this explanation helps.
Some “interesting” developments are happening in Banderastan. Its too early to tell how it will play out.But with any luck it could be good for our side:
“Show of power: Right Sector nationalists ready to send ‘19 battalions’ to Kiev”
Right Sector has threatened to deploy all of their armed and trained battalions – “if necessary” – to convince the Kiev government to bow to their demands, as an armed standoff between authorities and nationalists continues in western Ukraine.
“In the conflict zone [Donbass region] we have two battalions, but we have 18 or 19 reserve battalions spread across Ukraine,” Right Sector spokesman, Artem Skoropadsky told a press conference in Kiev.
“They are training, they are getting prepared to be sent to the front,” the spokesman said. “But if we need to, we can deploy the reserve battalions anywhere we want.”
“We can send all reserve battalions to the President’s administration and to the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” Skoropadsky threatened, adding that all units are ready to act if the Ukrainian authorities decide to seek armed confrontation with the radical nationalists.
Meanwhile Right Sector fighters, who were taking part in the so-called “anti-terrorist operation” left their positions in the country’s eastern Donetsk Region, and returned to their “bases,” another Right Sector spokesman Andrey Sharaskin told Ukraine’s 112 channel. As for the “reserve battalions,” Sharaskin claimed that “over 10,000 activists have been mobilized all across Ukraine” due to tensions with the authorities.
The nationalists have already began setting up checkpoints on the outskirts of Kiev, in order to try and prevent any reinforcements from moving on to Mukachevo, where a group of militants still refuse to surrender following Saturday clashes. Meanwhile reports emerged that authorities were also deploying additional units near Right Sector training camps and bases, in order to block them if the nationalists carry out their threats and try to deploy forces elsewhere in the country.
Meanwhile the extremist organization’s leder, Dmitry Yarosh, instead of ordering his people to lay down their arms and let authorities investigate Saturday’s deadly shootout in Mukachevo, has called on activists “to continue protests for indefinite term until those guilty in the tragedy are arrested.”
“Our brothers acted within the framework of necessary defence,” Yarosh claimed, blaming authorities for the violent incident.
Overall, the organization issued a list of five demands authorities must fulfil to avoid escalation: first of all they demand the resignation of Avakov; secondly – prosecution of local authorities in Carpathian region; a separate legal action against local MP Mikhail Lanya and his “gang”; and finally Right Sector demands the release of those they called “prisoners of the new regime.”
Right Sector activists are holding rallies in 17 cities across Ukraine in support of the radical brigade, which they present as heroes who were standing against corrupt authorities and acted in self-defense. “The protests have been announced in Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Zaporozhye, Ternopol, Mariupol, Kherson, Kramatorsk, Poltava and other cities of Ukraine,” the statement on the organization’s website says.
On Saturday, up to two dozen heavily armed fighters wearing camouflage uniform and bearing Right Sector insignia engaged in conflict with local authorities, business owners and police. As they were trying to flee the scene, the gang members were shooting Kalashnikovs and heavy machineguns mounted on their SUVs, as well as grenade launchers. After the shootout the Ukrainian security forces said that three attackers were killed and a total of 10 people, including five law enforcement officers, were injured.
The group took shelter in the woods on the outskirts of Mukachevo, and have so far refused to surrender and lay down arms without Yarosh’s orders, threatening to open fire if authorities move in to detain them.
While authorities claim that two of the fighters had surrendered on Sunday evening, the group insists it was purely to save their lives as they had been injured and needed hospitalization. At the same time reports emerge that the group have already breached out of the the encirclement after getting rid of their wounded.
“There will be no raid [on Right Sector’s hideout], because there is nothing to storm,” said Vasily Gubal, the governor of the Zakarpatia Region. “The armed members of the Right Sector will be found, at the moment their location is unknown.”
“They have not surrendered their arms and do not engage police,” the governor added.
The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) that arrived in Mukachevo to meet with authorities and observe SBU operations noted that Kiev is increasing its troops in the Carpathian region.
The team witnessed a “Ukrainian Armed Forces convoy moving towards Mukachevo, comprised of 11 APCs, two trucks loaded with soldiers and one fuel truck,” SMM said in a statement.
On their way to Mukachevo, the SMM observed heightened security measures, including several police checkpoints.
“At one such checkpoint, north of Mukachevo, about 2km from the alleged incident scene, the SMM saw the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) arriving, with 10 armored vans and two minibuses,” SMM said.
They added, that police delivered one dead body to the hospital while the SBU escorted two “seriously wounded persons.”
According to SMM, three civilians and three police who had been admitted on Saturday have been already discharged.
As countrywide nationalist rallies intensify across Ukraine, President Poroshenko is set to gather a War Cabinet on Monday, and the “events in Mukachevo will be the main topic.”
On on hand this could be good for Donbas as fighters are diverted west instead of attacking and shelling Novorossian territory, but on the other hand it does not bode well for the united Ukraine Russia wants, but plays into the empire’s standard tactics of divide and conquer in breaking up nations, preparing them for takeover and invasion by ‘peace keeping’ forces.
As Russia and Novorossia refuse to advance or present a real threat to the Ukrainian fascists they will tend to fight among themselves; if Novorossia goes on the offensive, however, then they will tend to band together to fight ‘the common enemy’, so I think the best policy for now is holding actions to defend Donetsk and Lugansk ‘borders’ from attacks on civilian areas. Let the orcs kill each off for now.
For those who long for the Russian Army to attack, here’s what to look for:
Signs of the coming of the Russian army:
When at the front before the APU will appear in the Russian army, it will be easy to understand. The first sign is the failure of all means of communication, a complete discharge of batteries in vehicles tanks and other equipment, at the same time discharge the batteries in mobile phones, in sights, in the radio stations. Then there is a gap circuits throughout technique — any. This is AMY. All engines go deaf, have no opportunity. So the system works “Khingan mountains”, a radius of 20 km.
Second— a complete rejection of all systems that use liquid crystal displays, the failure of all televisuma of the devices of the air defense radars are dead. The system Altair.
Third — failures when attempting to use any types of guided weapons — from MANPADS to ATGM. When you try to use the missiles self-destruct immediately… It’s the system “Mercury” — based ambulance this antenna is high, and now the Russians in every battalion there. Working on a 15 kilometers radius.
Fourth— you can’t use the drones-the drones (UAVs). They either fall, with the failure of navigazioni and engine, or sit in the visiting Russians. The system of “Best-4” disables the onboard equipment of the aircraft and any other aircraft. The system of “Carpool” intercepts control drones. The Russians gave it to the Iranians, and they have stolen top secret drum drone SASS “Kandahar beast”.
The fifth feature -will have time to see and understand not all. This is phenomenal accuracy of artillery fire, with ongoing beyond the reach of the Ukrainian artillery range. Stations of artillery reconnaissance and guidance of the Russian army are working through satellites and drones. The Russians modernized shells, they have them now with homing system, are longer and carry more explosives (explosives).
Ukraine his companions not. Only two communications satellites… From American satellites operational adjustment of the fire ukrartgallery impossible.
Dozens (hundreds, if necessary) combat helicopters, riding all the roads, start out hunting in the rear behind the armored vehicles, trains, cars. Railway paralyzed, broken arrow, blown up bridges.
The rear light is broken substation. Civil and military headquarters in the rear and a separate heads simultaneously liquidated in advance of the introduced groups.
And then… come down From the heavens thousands of soldiers of the assault battalions VDV and GRU…
I wonder how long until psychiatrists do a case study on the former Ukraine. The country seems to have an entire region (the non-Donbass areas) full of schizophrenics. Here is a country that mouths slogans like “Glory Ukraine,Glory to heroes,Ukraine above all”.And with a population only around 72% “Ukrainian” at independence.Set about making the huge minorities seem 2nd class citizens. And yet with all that fervor for “pure Ukrainian” nationalism 42% to 46% of the people don’t even use “Ukrainian” as their language. Now that sounds like schizophrenic behavior to begin with. But it pales before other examples. This “ultra-nationalist nation” is led by almost no one who is actually Ukrainian. The President, the Prime Minister, the Rada speaker, the most influential outside politician, all have Jewish backgrounds, not “Ukrainian”.Several cabinet ministers, and Oblast governors, are either Jewish or Georgian, again not even “Ukrainians”.The FM was born in Russia, the mayor of the capitol ,Kiev, is part Jewish, and was born in Kazakhstan. While the powerful Interior Minister is from an Armenian family, and was born in Azerbaijan. And the recent ex-SBU head, and the current Finance Minister, though Ukrainian by descent, are US citizens.Strangely enough the only “real Ukrainians” seem to be the fascists.Followers of a total anti-Slav ideology.Just imagine what a case study psychiatrists could do working with the former Ukraine.
I read an interesting article on Fort Russ. Its from a reporter that visited the nazi Azov battalion. After reading the article I am more convinced than ever that they must be totally eliminated.Down to the last nazi fighter in that battalion. Here was the translator’s comment on the article:
” J.Hawk’s Comment: My skin was crawling as I translated this piece, but I didn’t want to edit the original author’s attitude toward these monsters (he’s “bothered”…though you have to give him credit it wasn’t a complete whitewash–pun intended) because that is a story in and of itself. But his attitude is not exactly unusual in Europe. And this is why the Nazis got as far as they did back in the ’30s. As long as you designate Russia and Russians as your enemies, the West will forgive you almost anything. Today it’s no different. And the more people know about this, the better. ”
Pravy Sektor fighters are leaving Donbass for Kiev and points west. They fear they are going to be thrown under the bus by Poroshenko, along with Tornado battalion. Pravy Sektor have reportedly kidnapped a 6 year old child in Mukachevo.
I’m not sure of that.I hope that’s how it turns out,but its too early for us to “hi-five” ourselves yet.The last I heard was that the RS units at the front weren’t being withdrawn. That the reserve and training units were on alert and some going to Kiev. This “nazi on nazi junta” violence could be promising. But I’d like to see a lot more fighting between them before reaching for the Champagne bottle.
There’s a new theme/meme developing in today’s Washington Post op-ed page to beat up Russia with. Authored by Fred Hiatt, the long-time head of the Post’s editorial board, an uber cold-warrior, and Russia-phobe above all others. Considered one of the most important people in the capital, his columns and editorials often reflect current thinking in the Empire.
The article is entitled “An international war on LGBT people”. It starts with Turkey, which it deplores, goes on to “10 countries [presumably Islamic] where it [presumably LGBT activity] is punishable by death”, and segues to the U.N Secretary General, who has come out [no pun intended] strongly in favor of LGBT activity, then briefly deplores the Islamic State and Egypt for their bigotry. Near the end, it finally gets to the money shot:
‘Russian President Vladimir Putin was liv-and-let-live during his first decade in power, but when Moscovites grew impatient with his autocratic ways in 2011, he turned to homophobia and “traditional values” to safeguard his grip on the Kremlin. Like dictators for Uganda to Uzbekistan, Putin defends his bigotry as a rampart against permissive “Western values”.’
It’s not unlikely that an R2P LGBT campaign directed at Russia will emerge from the State Department soon, which often takes it cues from Fred Hiatt, and vice versa. If so, it will not unlikely be whipped up during the forthcoming Presidential contest, especially by the party in power, where such matters have become a litmus test of acceptability. If Hillary is elected, it will likely continue, perhaps by funding marches in the two Russian capitals, where large dissident minorities reside. If Bush IIi or whoever from the other party is elected, on the other hand, it may die down a bit. Their base doesn’t much favor such stuff. I remember the Soviets were generally relieved when Republicans were elected, whom they regarded as cynical, realistic people they could do business with, as opposed to the Democrats, who tended to believe their own rhetoric. (Note that the Cold War started overtly and explicitly with the Truman Doctrine, while Taft and the remnant of the old isolationists opposed it, even up to Eisenhower’s nomination.) What really matters, of course, is the correlation of forces on the ground, but R2P LGBT rights may well be employed as “soft power” against Russia, soft power which proved effective in the long run in the Ukraine. Russia needs to suppress any manifestation of it immediately.
It wouldn’t hurt Putin (and people like Lavrov) to talk about the Christian values Russia has at any opportunity they get with Western media, Western outlets.
Some of it might permeate through the MSM barrier and resonate in parts of the West – particularly truly right-wing Americans (who value freedom and small Government).
Title should be 12-07-2015 … instead of 2-07-2015 .., of course.

hmm…sounds apocalyptic.
It will be if Ukraine and NATO want war.
This is how real first tier war will be fought. Many people want Russia to “act”, to “win”, to “take” Novorossiya.
Well, the author merely described the scene as it would unfold.
For whatever military would be on the other side, yes, the apocalypse is an appropriate term.

“Va te faire voir chez les Grecs!”
Beau travail. Tout a marché comme sur des roulettes.
