“Ukrainian students, hiding from mobilization, outnumber other foreign students in Polish universities”
After the coup in February, 2014, educational migration from Ukraine to EU countries and Canada has increased dramatically.
According to a research study by the analytical center “Cedos”, after Maidan and the outbreak of the war in the East, citizens have become particularly active in leaving to study abroad.
Over the past two years, foreign universities, mostly Polish ones, received 6,500 Ukrainians (an increase of 20%). According to statistics, more than half of foreigners at Polish universities are Ukrainian.
Igor Lutsykiv, a student at the University of Lublin originally from Lvov, said that this is how many citizens are hiding from the draft.
“I left so that they wouldn’t take me to the ATO. Even without the war there is no future in Ukraine, everything has gotten worse after the Maidan. After graduating, I will stay in Poland, but next I would like to leave for an even wealthier country, such as Germany,” – the student admitted.
It’s reported that in the past five years, the number of Ukrainian students studying abroad has nearly doubled. Now, around 50 thousand Ukrainians are studying in 34 countries around the world…The third of them is in Poland. Also popular are Germany, Czech Republic, and Canada. http://fortruss.blogspot.com/2015/08/ukrainian-students-hiding-from.html
The Ukraine has been turning into a mildly failed state for the last 15 years or more, so people are desperate. It is hard to blame them for that. And they had no chance to fix things as there were two corrupt oligarchical elites, one that claimed to be friends with Russia, and one that claimed to be friends with the West. The mistake Russia made was in being comfortable with working with those elites, and not considering the long-term ramifications of Western domination of schools and the media. The frustrating thing is that this whole mess was avoidable, but Russia is too divided and unable to reform in high places. My Russian is poor, so don’t quote me on it, but someone caught up with Glazyev somewhere and asked him some questions and put it on YouTube. The discussion was along the lines of “Why can’t Putin do anything about all the increasingly serious economic problems?” and “Why are all the liberals and fifth columnists so brazen these days?” And the answers were along the lines of “Putin only has control over foreign matters.” and “We are in a war but don’t have Stalin’s system and cadres to implement things.” So you are in a war where you need to deny that you are in a war.
Putin is one of the greatest men alive. But hes still only a man. He isnt in the position of someone like Lenin who was able to make the nation in his own image, if only for awhile. He simply doesnt have that kind of political power.
Why is that? I don’t believe Lenin had anywhere near the 89% approval rating at first (and maybe never) that Putin has right now.Plus Lenin was in the midst of a horrible civil war almost his entire time as leader.I think there is a reluctance to use his immense power to remake the nation. And I’m not sure of the reason for it.Many Russian officials understand what needs doing. And from what I hear most of the Russian people understand what needs to be done. And yet,it doesn’t get done.
“The main money for trading and main money for saving on the global scale is issued by an organisation owned by an unknown group of private bankers. But why should we care about the USA and the rest of the world — we should be primarily interested in our own country. It is high time we discussed the rouble. Let us look at it. Let us read what it is written on it. This is something that an ordinary person in everyday life never does. We are, frankly speaking, only interested in the value of the bill and not in what it says. Now, let us have a look. ‘A note of the Bank of Russia’. Does it mean that the note was made in Russia? Geographically, yes. And de jure — no. Why? Remember the Federal Reserve System that issues green dollars with
portraits of American presidents, an independent Central Bank, independent from the state. Is the Russian system the same?”
That to me is the saddest thing about today’s Russia. All that talent unused. And a leader with an 89% approval rating that won’t make the hard decisions needed.I’ll never understand it.As the saying goes “its better to have tried and failed, than to have never tried at all”.
Since we all here have no power we are all “spectators”. But hopefully we have brains to see what is happening around us.I realize some don’t.But at least I “try” to see.
It may be simple. The representatives of the Western and Russian business elite told Putin what they would do if he resisted in a more aggressive way. Business in Russia would collapse, and their entire financial system has been controlled by the West. So Putin may have the best plans imaginable, but they are all impossible.
So basically the consensus seems to be that peaceful change isn’t possible. That as history almost always shows only violent change occurs.I’m still hoping that Putin will be able to “pull it off” and make the reforms needed to remake Russia. But I can assure people that if Russian history is a guide,if he doesn’t make those changes. Then it will be out of his hands. And others will make them, and not peacefully. There seems to be a common opinion that the Russian Revolution was all a foreign imposed thing in Russia. That is a great historical error to think that way.The West may have contributed to it.But Russia has been a land of revolts for centuries. From before Razin and Pugachev following through to the Decemberists and the 1905 Revolution. The two Revolutions in 1917 were the culmination of that period. From 1825 until 1917 Russia was a powder-keg waiting to fully explode. The Tsars constantly tried to put it off with “half-measures” of reform. And they failed totally.I keep hoping Putin can succeed this time. But if he isn’t willing (or able) to give Russia the reforms needed. Then others most likely will not wait forever. And as 1917 shows, once started, there is no going back.
Is this a Putin cult here? I am not trolling, but simply pointing out some serious problems that need to be fixed. Putin has done a very good job of many things, but he is one man, and the entire system was set up by the West. And Glazyev is supposedly a friend and advisor to Putin. It is constructive criticism to say that more needs to be done, not trolling. The Saker himself used to mention his dissatisfaction with how things have been going on the economic front in Russia.
In 1900 or 1910, plenty of good things could have been said about Russia and the progress that was being made. But it isn’t enough to make progress, you have to make progress when compared to your opponents, such as Germany or the US. This means factories, industrial complexes, and new technologies commercialized.
depending on the international diplomatic situation? Please!! in a US election year? Let’s hope Novorussia gets there firstest with the mostest and the Ukies are the ones who are cut off from one another and can’t help each other. Or everyone fall back borderwise and make one super killing cauldron.. maybe a cauldron to end all cauldrons or maybe the mother of all cauldrons in which to cook the Ukie goose once and for all.
R; They’re on home turf and on the defensive end of this battle. They won’t be static pawns welded to the front lines, they will be fluid and asymmetrical warriors, inflicting losses as opportunity will serve them on a silver platter. Their advantage doesn’t lie in numbers or superior firepower, you’ll find scattered among the ruins of their destroyed homes, their uprooted trees, the dead, the dying and the maimed family members and friends. That’s what feeds them and that’s what ill make them victorious.
But these brave men and women are also human, and as such, bound to bleed and die as well.
I’ve heard things like “almost even”,”near parity”,”a 1/3rd less”,and “35,45,60,90,thousand”.But nothing concrete. And that equipment is supposed to be fairly even. While I do agree with you that defensive operations are better, and morale is higher.I still think numbers do matter as well.
Q; While I do agree with you that defensive operations are better, and morale is higher.I still think numbers do matter as well.
R: Napoleon came in with large numbers [Russia], the Germans came in with large numbers [Russia], the Americans came in with large numbers [Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq] and none of them won anything.
The Kiev Killer Kommandos [the KKK] will have to literally shoot every single [Donbass] inhabitant to root out every last bit of resistance.
@ alan,
Q; There is the danger that the NAF, having routed the UAF twice, may be underestimating the potential strength of the UAF.
R; Yes, that danger is real, so let’s hope the armed forces remain alert, vigilant and decisive.
Because when they come [the KKK], they’ll come in lengthily legions over the horizon, in the wake of relentless artillery barrages. It’ll be tough, that’s for sure.
They have a track record, and so far they have outperformed their own expectations. Can you look at Basurin and see irrational exuberance? Is anybody chest-thumping and saying “Bring it on!”
Nobody is stupid enough to sit in front of a camera and present a list of anxieties and weak spots. Show some sense.
Lets no overlook the fact that Russia had large numbers in those wars. They weren’t “David and Goliath ” stories. The glory of the victory isn’t lessened by that.Napoleon and Hitler had large and far more experienced troops. As well as some of the best military equipment, and military leaders of their ages.So the Russian/Soviet victories were astounding. But in numbers the enemies never had a great advantage ,if any at all.
There is the danger that the NAF, having routed the UAF twice, may be underestimating the potential strength of the UAF. I hope not, but Generals tend to remember the last war….
Very informative report. The orc battle plans appear to be very amateurish, as before. Should they go ahead with them, they’ll be chopped up, as before.
Why would NAF make UAF attack plans public? Wouldn’t it make more sense to keep quiet knowing about attack directions of the opponent and reinforcing your own forces in those areas accordingly? Somehow, I am skeptical that these will be the actual directions of UAF attack. It may be a disinformation bait to mislead the UAF.
With these enormous numbers of the junta, I hope the generals in the militia know what they are doing, and do not underestimate the enemy: they even got 1 airborne division. This is going to be a full scale war…..most of the junta soldiers are NATO. At the same time, a defeat of the junta, will be a clear defeat of US-UK- Merkel and the Western world, breaking the unipolar world: meanwhile, dear Isreal has opened his front against Syria.
It’s looking more like a bluff than ever. That doesn’t pick apart well at all. 75,000 men plus virtually no reserves? 5 Tochka-Us? 440 main battle tanks?
At historical levels, NAF should be able to deal with that handily with 10,000 men.
UAF do have well hidden reserves, they are hiding in Russia LOL.
So many fires being lit by a falling oligarchy. So wish for people trapped in this hell created by the empire of Greed that they come through unscathed. I know it is an impossibility and wishful thinking.
There is not much more I can say. War, not the answer but we have to fight those who promote it, directly. Not the fodder and if there is more action and another cauldron in the East, no NATO escape routes this time. Conscripts, yes but mercs, NATO, volunteer battalions – NO!
Cassad indicates that the Ukies lack vehicles to move men more than 10-15 km if they launch. Vehicles for manpower and fuel are the issues.
You can mass huge numbers of tanks and other pieces, but if they can’t be fueled and move with freedom, they are really sitting ducks if comparable force is set against them.
Only a few battalions, and one or two brigades have real capability.
Russian generals will engage them and destroy them.
This war, as few here understand, is conducted by Russian generals using the militia and volunteers. All the cauldrons were products of Russian planners.
Now, some NATO and US colonels think they can outthink the Russians. It should be interesting.

Your answer follows on from this quote http://lit.md/files/nstarikov/rouble_nationalization-the_way_to_russia%27s_freedom.pdf:

how are these ukies paying for their education..parents I suppose..I guess not all Ukrainians were dead broke at the beginning of all this.
Yes, but Uncle Bob you can see by this that they (the students studying abroad) are really not Russians.
