Makes me wonder why Putin did not announce this after this trip.. But waited until after Obama’s visit for India to make the request. So either India wanted to see what the US offered or Russia wanted to see what India would do. If China also joins then this would be close to 3 bil people in this trade union. With Turkey wanting to join we might see a cascading effect where no one wants to be left out. Being left out means a huge disadvantage then. Why trade with say japan when you can get similar product from china for 25% less.. Another thing would be those outside would find it difficult to sell anything in these countries since they would be producing almost everything in one of those countries.

Brazil’s membership and China’s existing relationships with many South and Central American countries will eventually bring the entire Hemisphere, including even Mexico into BRICS. South Africa’s membership portends a similar effect in Africa, which is a much bigger land mass than many people realize. The USA, Canada and Western Europe look to find themselves excluded from this, and therefore on the outside looking in, more as the years go by, and they quickly do go by. This is not your Grandfather’s world.

MADRID Feb 27 (Reuters) – Spain on Friday arrested eight citizens who recently returned from fighting alongside pro-Russian rebels in Ukraine, the first such arrest in the European Union of foreign citizens involved in the conflict, the Interior Ministry said.

The eight suspects, identified only by initials, were arrested in a nationwide operation on suspicion of crimes that could compromise the peace and independence of Spain, a ministry statement said.

“The accused travelled to Ukraine during 2014 and have recently returned to Spain. All joined separatist pro-Russian groups fighting for the independence of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions,” the statement said.

It said that while in Ukraine, the eight shared information and photos through social media of their training in how to use assault weapons and explosives, while dressed in paramilitary uniforms.

They also expressed support for the secession of the Lugansk and Donetsk regions from Kiev. The EU formally supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity and accused Russia of backing the rebels militarily. Moscow denies this.

The fighting in Ukraine has killed more than 5,600 people over the last year. A shaky truce finally took hold on Thursday, 11 days after it was meant to take effect, but three Ukrainian deaths reported on Friday dimmed hopes the new calm would last. (Reporting by Paul Day)

QUESTION: The Eastern Mediterranean is a particularly sensitive region, but it has good prospects, as we recently saw with the energy agreements between Cyprus and Egypt.

What is the significance of the defence agreement you signed, as well as the agreements that cover the energy sector?

VLADIMIR PUTIN: As I said earlier, the friendly relations between our countries are not aimed against anyone; our goal is to implement our national objectives for the good of our people, and our cooperation does not harm anybody.

Today, you witnessed the signing of many documents concerning defence cooperation. For example, this pertains to our military ships’ entry into Cyprus ports. These are primarily Russian ships participating in international efforts to fight terrorism, international piracy, etc.

First, I do not think that this could be a source of concern for anyone. Second, this is our joint work, and in this respect, we can also discuss the contribution by Cyprus to these joint efforts, and I’m confident they will bring results in those highly important, pressing areas of fighting the threats we face today, including in this region of the world.

primarily Russian ships participating in international efforts to fight terrorism

Notice the careful wording.. Only Putin can do such things, He is clearly saying that if the US plans to attack Assad’s forces, Russia will intervene using the UN as they just passed this the last month calling to fight terrorism in the form of ISIS and target its funding. So this base will be to supply ships to monitor Syrian air space without having to return to port which takes far longer.

it looks like Putin thought ahead here too.. I did not think the UN doing anything mattered but it clearly does to Russia or the Cyprus port mattered much but clearly it does if the US goal is Assad much go but is clearly not leaving… Russia can also supply advanced weapons system to Syria since the UN everyone must fight ISIS terrorists…

Former Czech Minister of Health, John David, a member of the Social Democratic Party, CSSD, commented on the current situation in Europe and tensions over the Ukrainian crisis, pointing out that this situation could lead to major escalation of the conflict in the Old Continent.

In an interview for an online newspaper Prvnizpravy.cz noted: “Europe, which want to receive the order by, the US, force, lead the entire continent to the slaughterhouse.”

He said that the US can do nothing good to offer Europe, and that Washington is pressuring European countries.

“We have to buy their weapons, to obey their dictates as TTIP, send your soldiers in the wars they start around the world. European elites are promised that they will be allowed to survive if they diligently followed the US interests at the expense of their own people. If Europe wants to survive, can not afford to have this kind of elite in power, “said former Czech minister Ivan David.

re: Novorussian state building report: My compliments to the chef! The visuals were attractive and the segment ran smoothly. The announcer’s voice seemed to be much more clear and easier to understand maybe because there was a better mix between the background music/noise and his speech. Nice job and thanks for the dedication to professionalism. ( I did ever so enjoy the interview from the cauldron of Hell several weeks back but then it is difficult to do gallows humor when there is so much suffering and as such it can be seen as in bad taste or not appropriate for serious news reporting)

First time to your new blog, Saker.

For a moment I thought you picked an Israeli domain — and became sceptic of it being a appropriate choice right away. But, so, it is an Icelandish domain? Good pick indeed. Nicely centered; good & nice view from the Vineyard. ;)

SAKRIJ ĆERKU OD RUSKOG VOJNIKA: Brutalna istina o oslobođenju Beograda i Srbije 1944. (FOTO)

If the Serbian people are as devoted to friendship with Russia as is claimed. They should oppose this Russophobic propaganda by the 5th column in their country.A demonstration of their anger needs to be delivered to them.We are rapidly coming to a time when the friends of Russia will be clear on one side. And the enemies of the Russian people will be clearly visible on the other.

    • mmw on February 27, 2015  ·  at 9:35 pm EST/EDT

I think its clearly established that it was not the red army who were far too disciplined to have been doing such things but the commissars who came later as occupying forces don’t have time to go through it all again just to refute this but it is false that the advancing Red Army was undisciplined hordes. It was the same in Germany. I suppose you could call them the red army since we call the ukie nazi national guard the Ukrainian army who behave similarly.

And Stalin did not say anything about young guys. He was talking about the age old custom of war booty. A well established European custom for thousands of years. Now exported worldwide especially to Africa and Asia. Like the ISIS for example, a first rate American experiment on the ultimate terrorists like their first project of the ultimate robber barons aka crony capitalists. But Stalin did ultimately stop it by pulling the occupying forces into fixed barracks. From what I read, these soldiers were undisciplined and untrained and even shooting them made no difference and did not listen to officers so were uncontrollable. Pretty much like the ukie national guard. But with so many often referring to the soviets unions as the Russians, guess it all depends on your moods. Could be Martians tomorrow..

Interesting the Yuan’s inclusion in the currency basket. NVR has an opportunity to present a stark difference economically between itself and whatever remains of Ukraine.

The Chinese are heavily involved with Ukraine. They made over 8 billion dollars in investments in Ukraine for gas pipeline (never built) for agriculture (never delivered), probably ripped off by the government before, during and after Maidan.

They will be involved in Crimea, port, a tunnel, oil and gas development.

Yuans will be big in Eurasian development. China now has over 60 nations dealing in yuans, not dollars.

We will soon see China’s ships in the Black Sea.

Probably, the Chinese will assist in the rebuilding of the Donetsk airport and major bridge and housing projects.

Donbass can make a fast comeback if the shelling is finally stopped.

That wd be so lovely. I don’t see how otherwise the people can return.

Ukraine also is losing its population, before they become refugees as in the East:

Four out of five office workers in Ukraine are considering emigration. The data of the poll conducted by international personnel portal HeadHunter testify to the fact. According to the poll 83 per cent of office workers are considering emigration. Most of those who are ready to leave the country work in oil and gas sector – every second worker of the branch has serious intentions to emigrate. The second place is occupied by health sphere workers – 38 per cent of them are intending to leave for good. They are followed by the workers of energy producing sector, metallurgy and industrial workers – 37 and 45 per cent respectively

Some two dozen Democrats in the US Senate had by last night declared their intention to skip the speech – seen as an attempt by Mr Netanyahu to gain advantage ahead of next month’s Israeli elections – and the White House has also protested in vehement terms.

Yesterday J Street, a pro-Israel lobby group in Washington, took out full-page advertisements in American newspapers urging the Israeli Prime Minister to stay away.

uke gas crisis postponed for a weekend.

    feb 27
The European gas crisis has been averted — for now.

Ukraine today sent Russia around £10 million to cover natural gas deliveries for March, just days before Putin’s deadline.

The Russian leader had said gas supplies to Ukraine would be shut off at the end of the week if prepayment was not delivered, though the small package means the problem may just be delayed a couple of weeks.

Porkshank went personally to UAE to arrange the deal & it was not just for ordinary armaments but also for ABMs. That’s in addition to those already stationed at Odessa. The criminals in Washington are just going ahead as if Ukraine were a member of NATO. They’re desperate to cause a conflict that will stop the trade integration of Eurasia. What better than war or a gargantuan false flag blamed on Russia?

Russian Politician Boris Nemtsov Killed in Moscow

Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov was shot to death in central Moscow late Friday.

A fellow member of his party RPR-PARNAS Ilya Yashin confirmed to RIA Novosti that Nemtsov had been shot.

The head of the Moscow police department is on the scene, according to TASS news agency. According to Moscow police sources, there were witnesses to the shooting who are now being questioned. Moscow police are engaged in an active search for the shooter or shooters, who have not been identified.

Twitter user @Dobrokhotov tweeted that “On the Bolshoy Kamenniy bridge there are already lots of journalists.”

Of course there is a lot of journos, these ops don’t work without them. No doubt zionazi, inc. figured since it worked with Politkovskaya, why not try it again. The story is just hitting the Jewish owned/run zio-media. I’m sure the zio-media will be full of stories about “Putin’s assassins” within the hour.

  14. Konstantin Bodin on February 27, 2015  ·  at 10:44 pm EST/EDT

I wouldn’t call it a nation building. Lughansk and Donetsk haven’t even formally united yet. At the moment, the path seems more like some preposterous and mostly by the very parties in the conflict unwanted construction of some type of coexistence in the same state, the state which would be no man’s land between the East – that is Russian world, and the West – Anglo-American world. But let us hope Ukraine collapses totally and thoroughly, so those hostages Galicians, west Ukrops, hold in rest of Ukraine can free themselves. In the end, break up has to occur. The only question is with which one will the middle Ukraine go: Galicians or Novorossians. Let Lvov and Galicia, the western Ukropia, Ukropstan or Banderastan – the name by which is also known as – go they so much desire be part of, and the eastern Ukraine, Novorossia, where her place is. The others have no desire to live with those Galicians to begin with, and even less to build anything mutually. And there will never be happiness in such, by the external forces, imposed state as today Ukraina is, just like there was no happiness for all these 24 years state named Ukraina have been existing (much less so, for economic pain has to be endured). So let Ukrops who, according to their own say, apparently battle for sovereignty of Ukraine but would gladly surrender all its sovereignty to EU (apart for foreign policy which would go to Washington) *which says a lot about how disgustingly stupid and lying that scum really is*, just leave where they belong — along with Polocks as part of the West (they are Westerners by morals and values even today anyway). Only then the hindrance in Ukraine will stop, and peace and prosperity will get back.

    • RockyRacoon on March 01, 2015  ·  at 9:25 pm EST/EDT

Russia doesn’t’ want these regions to break up he wants a sympathetic region as part of Ukraine so that they can’t vote to join NATO or the EU really it has to be neutral territory like Finland even if they do. No NATO in Ukraine and the rest of Europe does not want that either. And I am sure Europe does not appreciate America talking about military aid after the two most significant countries on the continent just arranged a nascent peace treaty and cease fire. Pretty heroic of France considering they just got that Gladio hit at Cebdo. Putin needs these outcomes and he doesn’t need a bankrupt broken Ukraine for Russia to repair for the next twenty years at some 10 billion a year price tag. I am sure Europe doesn’t want that either. Imagine giving aid to this non NATO, non EU state while your own people go through genocidal austerity the way they are in Greece and Spain. The future is China Russia the BRICS and whoever in the world needs a fair deal down the road. You know in the UN General Assembly America has attack or overthrown some 47 member states unbelievable isn’t it?…..that is a lot of enemies and a lot of pay-offs a lot of dirt blood on US hands. I don’t think they could survive in a multi-party world. Not without a socialist revolution in their own country. As the predator state they are now-dead in the water.
