Some analysis has surfaced that the Ukies are not ready for an offensive. Too few men, too little equipment.
But if you look at the present activity in and around Mariupol, they are controlling events and there appears no chance of militia movement toward freeing Mariupol or relieving the artillery bombardment.
Lugansk is facing very strong alignment of tanks and armor.
With all the militia heavy equipment in the rear, an offensive could alter the front in several areas.
Meanwhile, criminal and scout-assassination teams are shaking up security within the cities. Donetsk is a vipers nest of criminality.
OSCE has plenty of video proof of violations of Minsk 2. Nothing alters the facts on the ground.
Meanwhile, the US exerted immediate control of events in the Duel of Oligarchs (soon to be a series on Fox and Kiev TV, no doubt).
Every time we hear of an “uprising” in a city, Odessa, Mariupol, Kharkov, etc, it is crushed.
The way Kiev regards agreements, Donbass will remain a fraction of what it should be, and there seems to be no way it will ever gain the remaining areas of the oblasts much less the completion of the full Novorossiya geography, except through military conquest.
And, the militia will never have enough manpower to grow an army that large.
Thus, the Ukie offensives in the months ahead, however they come, whenever they come will fulfill the project of the US government. It pins down Russian resources, limits Novorossiya and justifies American taxpayer debt (funding) in support of a totally bankrupt and corrupt Ukraine.
It ppears that Kiev has little interest in engaging Donbas military, since they keep losing then, but rather are attacking the civilians and the civil infrastructure in a war of terror and degrading the ability of Novorossia to live and produce in a normal way — stopping kids from going to schools and chasing people to live in cellars, depriving people of money, food, and necessities of life, etc.
This is a war by Kiev, and it’s puppet masters, not against armies, but against the people. ‘And that is how they will win’ according to Poroshenko.
If you look to the separatist provinces of Georgia you see the pattern that Washington has encouraged Georgia to hang tough and not to compromise in any way. But it has [probably] not encouraged Georgia to attack. Rather it seems that it has encouraged the Georgians that one day they might be strong enough to attack – aiming to keep the hope on a victory alive in order to support the uncompromising stance. The weak point of this strategy is of course that it is based on a lie and that believing that lie may lead to a foolish attack – as we saw in the 2008 Georgia war.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the situation in Donbass developed the same way. No more big battles. Instead just an impoverished region that is dependent on Russian aid and a permanent diversion of Russian attention. And a low level continuation of shelling and terror attacks to keep the region unstable.
The DPR/LPR faces another dilemma. Mariupol depends for water on the area north of Donetsk. And the Mariupol steel works depend on the Avdiivka coke works. So just conquering Mariupol may not be an easy option.

I don’t know where you get this information, but it seems to me that assuming a victory based on artillery counting is nonsense. If it was really the case the UAF would have crushed the NAF for a long time ago. From the beginning the Ukies have outnumbered the NAF in any ways and they nevertheless have been defeated big time by yesterday’s miners and tractor drivers. How many Ukies and Nato troops were sent in Debaltsevo only to be badly butchered over there ? Besides, just because the Russian special forces don’t brag about their strategy on social networks does not mean they don’t act.
Both sides lost men at Debaltsevo, and the NAF side also showed up some command chain and supply chain problems. However, they have more better trained people. UAF has had to demobilise their better trained, as they’ve been in a year and demanding to go home. NAF has enough eager recruits to let the experienced ones go home on leave, but they’ll be ready to come back on a few hours’ notice if serious fighting erupts again.
Meanwhile with a combination of spies, informants and drones, they can prove to OSCE where UAF has hidden artillery, to make them get moved back.
Poroshenko’s offer of withdrawing is likely to be fake, to justify visible movements oin the roads, and is a cover for preparing an attack.
I think the number of the NAF’s 200s [KIA], as listed over at Colonel Cassad’s web site, was around 400, and the 300s [WIA] stood at a few thousand as a result of the battle in and around Debaltsevo.
Well, there are a few glitches in the US plan. I don’t think it was their intention to unite the Russian public behind their government and push Putin’s approval ratings to heights never imagined.
They’ve broken the back of the Russian Maidan, oft promised, oft failed, with the disclaimer “Oh, no, that puny little demonstration wasn’t it. It’ll be later.” The opposition has been wrong-footed on a host of issues: apologizing for MH-17, decrying the armed takeover of Crimea, showing a total lack of political acumen in choosing the right stance on high-profile events.
The sanctions are most peculiar. I laughed when I saw the first ones; I suggested they were based on a wishlist Putin had emailed to Obama. They bit more when they finally got to sector targeting. But their main effect is to create a layer of opinion throughout the EU that German dominance and other channels of US influence are not in the common interest of the region.
Incidentally, all along on sanctions, the savvy response is “So that’s what the US got. I wonder what they asked for.” It’s really not a hard hit to freeze the western bank accounts of people who don’t have a bank account anywhere, only a few bucks hidden in their sock drawer. I do not exaggerate; there are really such cases. One of them is a puppy killer so that is probably what qualified him for the honour.
THE left-leaning Novaya Gazeta Russian newspaper has published a highly provocative apology — written in Dutch and splashed across its front page today.
The paper has deviated from the official line coming out of the Kremlin, by attributing the source of the attack on Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 at the hands of the Russian separatists.
“Forgive Us, Netherlands’’ was the bold headline above a sombre photograph of the convoy of hearses that transported the first of the bodies across The Netherlands from Eindhoven to Hilversum for forensic analysis.
The USA weapons dealing government is continuously complaining about most other states on this EARTHs human rights and military intervention.
1) The USA supplied ISIS the middle east head chopping cult with billions worth of weapons.
2) The USA needs to sell weapons , so it actively supports the illegal invasion by its number 1 weapons buyer Saudi Arabia to invade & bomb the people of Yemen, just because Saudi Arabia does not like its own neighbours religion and desire for democratic reforms.
3) The USA betrayed the Kurds & Kurdistan whose Kurds sacrificed so many lives during the Iraq war when Kurds protecting many US servicemen from being assassinated & murdered.
4) For well over a year the US has refused to provide the Kurds heavy weapons, even as far back as 2003 but especially after ISIS overran most of Iraq & Syria with US sponsored weapons. Hundreds of thousands have dies as a direct result of “misplaced” US weaponry.
5) “the Pentagon today affirmed that its first 400 recruits have been personally selected for intervention in Syria.
The recruits, part of some 1,800 identified potential USA Pentagon sponsored candidates for rebellion, are still being vetted, and after background checks, Pentagon officials say they could be ready to send to Syria as early as fall.
What happens then is anyone’s guess. The Pentagon has talked up this program as training and arming some 15,000 rebel troops over the next few years, but hasn’t identified much more than 10% of that as a pool to draw from.
6) The USA state department has continuously pointed the finger at: Novorussia, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, China, Vietnam, North Korea, Libya, Syria, Nicaragua, “F*** The European Union (Nuland) & many others what everyone else on the planet are doing wrong.
Here is from one citizen of the western European Union. Especially Cookie Queen! No!!, F You, for f**ing the entire planet. After the UK defiantly decided to join AIIB, France, Italy and Germany then followed – leaving the US looking isolated. While America views China as a geo-political rival, the two powers now vying for supremacy in the Pacific basin, West European nations are more mindful of its importance as a future trading partner.
These divergent views burst into the open last week, presenting America with a tough dilemma – remain alone outside the AIIB, or be seen to accept the will of the rest of the world. The answer seems to be acceptance. The Washington-based IMF just announced it would, despite earlier opposition, be “delighted” to co-operate with the AIIB. And Japan, America’s staunchest Asian ally, has also indicated it’s now “happy” to work with the Beijing-based institution too. No matter that Japan currently controls the US-backed Asian Development Bank, the precise body the AIIB is hoping to usurp.
The developed nations, whether they like it or not, must significantly increase their trade with China. The UK, with an external deficit now equal to 6pc of GDP, the second-largest in half a century, has lately become far less vocal about Beijing “human rights abuses”. The AIIB, meanwhile, is part of a concerted Chinese attempt to build a Sino-centric global financial system, as an alternative to America’s hegemony.
War against the people…
And film depicting how the Russians never give up.
Of course it also is a role model of military discipline and bravery, particularly for the kids watching who can identify with the main character, but note is is about self-defense against monstrous invaders, not, as is typical of such American films, about attacking people in other countries who pose no threat to the US — about imperialist conquest. Yes — it is the US (and of course the Kiev forces) which is very comparable to the Nazis in this film, right down to the bombing and the killing of civilians.
Film done in 2010 — It would seem that Russians have been very much aware of the reality and the threats all along, despite the diplomatic appellation of ‘partners’ for the enemies.
Today marks the anniversary of the terrorist coup launched by the Outlaw Empire, with Sputnik having a good review of the event. Russia has behaved exemplary in the face of that extreme provocation. Those residing in Crimea were most fortunate.
It must be said–shouted–that the coup itself was an act of terror of the most heinous sort, with Obama and his crew covered in even more blood, begging for some person with enough principle to arrest the lot. The ante must be upped by declaring those members of the Outlaw Empire responsible for perpetrating its vast number of crimes to be arrested for being the criminals they are. No steps toward peace are possible until this major political step is taken–the line must be drawn. And the net must be widely cast with anyone related to the crimes of Iraq, Libya, Syria, Ukraine, Honduras, and elsewhere arrested. There’s no statute of limitations for committing acts of terror and war crimes. They should be snatched from their homes and imprisoned without bail.
Outlaws must be brought to justice–especially the really big fish like Bush, Cheney, Obama, Biden, Kerry, and Clinton. NOBODY will have any faith in International Law until the Outlaw Empire and its Outlaw politicos are brought to justice–the words and fine agreements are worthless without their enforcement.
“March 28. /TASS/. A village of Shirokino, east of the port city of Mariupol, came under intensive shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on March 27, the Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe /OSCE/ said in a spot report on Saturday.
On Friday the mission’s head condemned escalation of violence in eastern Ukraine.”
Well, now OSCE have admitted this, does this give due course of action for Rus to practically intervene in a preventative mode of further civilians being killed and by DPR /LNR also?
28th of March, 2015. Donetsk People’s Republic, Novorossiya.
13 shelling attacks by the Ukrainian army have been registered today, the DPR Defense Ministry spokesperson Eduard Basurin told journalists.
“We have recorded 13 violations of the ceasefire by the Ukrainian troops today. The most intensive shellings were registered in Spartak and Gorlovka. Ukrainian army fired from 120-mm mortars, anti-tank guided missiles, APCs, automatic grenade launchers and various types of small arms,” – Eduard Basurin added.

At 01:00 in the area of Shyrokino explosions were heard; the enemy was carrying out fire from the direction of the Vostochnyi block-post; bright flashes lighted the sky”.

and Hostilities in LPR
“On March 27 situation worsened at the track Bakhmutka. At least 50 attacks were recorded yesterday. According to the militia occupying positions along the route, the Ukrainian military deployed almost all their artillery to the front. In response, the militia drove up tanks and armored fighting vehicles to the front from the nearby rear. As darkness fell, militia positions were fired in the vicinity of the 29th checkpoint on the track Bakhmutka. Also shootout took place near Novotoshkovskoye.”

Just got a call from under Shirokino, the enemy went on the attack in Shirokino and a little North of Shirokino towards the village Octyabr. Is this a recon battle or the beginning of a more serious action is unclear. Our guys from the Slavic brigade took on the fight and are repelling the attacks. The concentration for the attack was prepared in the surrounding area, where infantry was amassed at night (mostly “pravoseki” [Right Sector] and the personnel of the “Azov” and “Dnepr”) while the representatives of the OSCE during the day “actively” performed the monitoring of the situation..
Mostly infantry is attacking with the support of APCS, tanks are trying to hit our positions at a distance, the attack is supported by mortars and as they like to say “SAUshki”. At the moment NAF is hold all positions. “
It is time for the DPR/LC to demand the withdrawal of junta forces from all the territories of Donetsk and Lugansk. They could possibly offer a new referendum in those territories as an exchange for the junta withdrawal. But regardless, now is time for the junta to exit those lands and those people to be free. The number of ceasefire violations by themselves from the junta side has lost them any cover from the Minsk 2 agreements. So its time for them to go,or be made to go.
Independent blogs around the world reporting regarding to the Bloomberg news, that the baron Nathaniel Rothschild paid off all of the Ukraian financial burden and paid all of the loans…….
On another note, I always look for spin, particularly in pictures as they are so powerful -spin that ‘validates’ the propaganda meme of the times, that being russophobia.
How would most people interpret the picture at the top of this Bloomberg article? It shows Russian APC’s complete with Russian flags in “Bakhchisarai, Ukraine”. It validates those Russian tanks ‘invading’ Ukraine meme, doesn’t it?
What it doesn’t say is that Bakhchisarai is in Crimea and about 30 kms from Sevastopol and the Russian Black Sea fleet. One is also likely to miss the date that is over a year earlier: Feb 2014.
Mr. Average soaked in MSM knows about Crimea from all those ‘Russia invaded Crimea’ talking points and headlines. It is unlikely he could find it on a map though -or Ukraine for that matter- and near 100% certainty of never having heard of Bakhchisarai.
As for looking it up on a map? Get serious, there’s another headline to read and oh! juicy bits of celebrity scandal and indiscretion.
On the subject of MSM spin, the following tackles the NYT’s on Kolomoisky’s latest effort – anti-Russian march in D’provosk – and throws up some interesting stuff on EU PRIOR complicity with the Ukraine coup:
The mistake we make is always worrying about the West’s reaction to everything Russia does.I can tell you what the West’s reaction we be to everything Russia does.It will be more of the “hate Russia” policy they have always followed. If Russia makes moves for peace its “hate Russia”.If Russia stands up to them its “hate Russia”.There is no difference either way.
Russia needs to accept that ,and just do the right thing, paying no heed to them.We fool ourselves if we think a frozen conflict in Ukraine is “winning”.Winning is either a full free Novorossia.Or the total defeat and exit from power of the junta.Anything else is losing, whether its losing some or all,its still losing.
Russia is the largest country on Earth by far.She has land borders with 18 different nations (including 3 mini-states).Only 10 of which are either friendly allies or at least fairly friendly (including the 3 mini-states).Her security for over a 1000 years has depended on having friendly neighbors or buffers to unfriendly states.
As by way of contrast the US has land borders with 2 weak dominated neighbors. One a devoted ally, and the other at least an ally. And they make sure all other countries close, are too weak to oppose them in any way.
Having a Russophobic Ukraine is an existential threat to Russia. It was 300 years ago,and it is today.Especially even more today, because of modern warfare possibilities.Leaving the junta in power in Ukraine would be similar to if the Red Army had liberated Crimea and part of Donbass in WW2.And then Stalin had said “ok,we’re done. The nazis can keep the other 85% of Ukraine. We’ll just make do with what we have now.” Never in a million years would that have been acceptable then, and it isn’t now either.
Just as the USSR knew that the nazis had to be defeated for their country to live. Its the same today. For Russia to live, the nazis must be defeated in Ukraine.Certainly for the time being Russia could survive with the junta controlling Ukraine. But as time passes and the terrorists start attacking in South Russia, and in Donbass and Crimea, the costs with grow. The Ukraine will become the base for anti-Russian government movements throughout the RF.Propaganda, plotting “maidans”,working with 5th column elements.
It will also became an official or unofficial NATO base area.Aimed straight into Russia’s heartland,if the junta is allowed to remain. These aren’t even guesses on my part. Its the stated plans and desires of the junta itself, and their radical supporters. Its also the MO used by the West in a half-century of attempts to dominate the World. There isn’t even a doubt that is what their plans are.
The junta must be defeated and driven from all the former Ukraine.Whether it can be done by Ukrainians themselves (the preferred method),or by Russian peacekeepers is yet to be seen.It is a horrible mistake to allow the junta to strengthen its power inside the occupied regions.
And its another horrible mistake for Russia to allow the West’s wishes to determine their survival. After spending many years studying history I’ve found that a nation’s survival comes from them putting their needs first. And no matter what some scholars may say, history hasn’t changed.Human nature is the same today as it was a 1000 years ago.We just try to mask it better.
IMF may not be able to lend Ukraine any more money — because of their debt to Russia.
It seems it is against IMF rules to lend to a state that has debts to another state…. and Russia’s $3 billion bond purchase was from a Russian sovereign emergency fund, NOT from a bank or private lenders. And they do NOT feel like having it “restructured” …. which in effect means accepting a lower amount.
Before blaming Russia for being too tough about this, let’s recall the loan was at 5% interest at a time the going rate was 10%, so as usual they’d given Ukraine an extra boost. Ukraine again bit the hand that fed it.
Hi Kat Kan !! Its pretty weird that the IMF has already lent so much money, even with this rule…I guess they do anything they want until its discovered by someone outside IMF. How disgusting.

F your endless wars, F your Agent Orange, F Your Friendly Fire bullshit, F Your Fake False Flag 9/11; your stealing, lying two faced Veterans Affairs who made so many US vets homeless or commit suicide. FU Unkosher Noodleland ; F your new cold war ; endless war on terrorism no one wants; F your, “Your either with us or against us” schizophrenic mentally retarded ideology of having to choose (who you order us to hate) BS.

Brest Fortress: Geopolitics Lessons from a Regimental Orphan

— quite an extensive write-up
( English sub version at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J_wyXGa9dc )
Too bad you deleted my comment. I won’t be back as it’s clear this blog doesn’t give a damn about justice or law.
What got deleted? what are you talking about?
don’t worry about K.K. An angry person can’t be helped.
Karloff, you write sane comments. Why on earth do you accuse the moderation at Saker’s to be deleting them ??
C’mon guy…
“March 28.

Small squads of 3 to 5 men need to be deployed in Ukraine to take out senior middle leadership elements of this Nazi Battalion.
great idea. these nazis gotta go. I’m amazed that they were allowed to live and thrive for so many years. Its horrific.
Independent blogs around the world reporting regarding to the Bloomberg news, that the baron Nathaniel Rothschild paid off all of the Ukraian financial burden and paid all of the loans…….
Interesting indeed
lets hope not. rumors and just rumors.
Link please?
On another note, I always look for spin, particularly in pictures as they are so powerful -spin that ‘validates’ the propaganda meme of the times, that being russophobia.
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-03-28/ukraine-s-east-remains-tense-rally-planned-for-ousted-governor
Thus is poison spread.
Reference to US and Russia regarding Yemen, last 2 sentences:

On the subject of MSM spin, the following tackles the NYT’s on Kolomoisky’s latest effort – anti-Russian march in D’provosk – and throws up some interesting stuff on EU PRIOR complicity with the Ukraine coup:
http://russia-insider.com/en/when_billionaires_ruled_earth/5108

Senator Cruz’s link to Nutty.
Rest of article is Nutty’s scorched earth rampage, both in politics & in the M.E.
It was no different during this past week’s Israeli election. Benjamin Netanyahu’s winning Likud Party had Republican Vincent Harris, the 26-year-old whiz kid who helped engineer Senator Ted Cruz’s victory in Texas.
