Injustice, abuse, cruelty toward a Russian citizen caught in the U.S. system is par for the course.
That she is a woman, innocent of the charges and still persecuted is delicious to the Khazarian Russophobes and the knee-jerk Americans of the U.S. Justice system. They think they are fighting a war against an invader.
Irrational behavior by the U.S.toward anything Russian is the new normal.
The fact that she is young, fairly attractive makes it a nice “rape” they savor. Since they actually can’t rape her, they intend to break her psychologically.
The U.S. has been mind-massaging its citizens for decades to be like Ukies and hate/fear Russia and Russians.
Maria Butina is but one of many continuous cases inside and outside of the Hegemon’s borders.
It is amazing that she has held out this long.

Prosecutors are graded and promoted on their conviction rate. They hate to actually go to trial where they might lose. A vast majority of cases are resolved with “plea-deals” before trial.
To get these plea deals, prosecutors apply pressure. One common form is to “over-charge” the defendant, and to threaten maximum punishments to be applied if the victim dares to risk a trial and is found guilty. In contrast to these threats of years in prison, the prosecutor offers a ‘deal’ to agree to a lessor charge (probably one closer to realistic than the original over-charges).
Thus, the typical position of a defendant in the American InJustice system is to decide between risking everything in an attempt to prove they are innocent, or to accept a lesser charge and sentence and know they should at least survive. These days, all American judges are former prosecutors. One never hears of a former defense attorney being appointed to be a judge. Thus, the trials are always against the defendant as the judge sides with the prosecutor who is doing the job the judge used to hold.
American prosecutors are expert at applying “pressure”, what the rest of the world calls torture, to get their high conviction rate and their awards and promotions.
The UN has ruled that long-term solitary confinement is a form of torture. The US ignores this. See the case of Chelsea Manning who leaked Iraq War cover-ups to see another instance in how this is applied. Other forms of torture are also common. Not the extreme forms of breaking on the rack, but other forms the US feels happy about. Remember the scandal of the Iraqi prison at Abu Ghraib. Most of those prison guards were National Guardsmen who’s “day-job” was as American prison guards torturing American prisoners.
A very quick search uncovered this BBC report on torture in American prisons. And if the poodles at BBC could easily find this, imagine what else is going on.

American has more of its citizens locked up than any country in history. And beyond that many more live under government supervision under probation as a condition to be released from the direct torture. America has massive police forces all of which are staffed by former military and all departments have their own paramilitary forces and usually armored vehicles. Criticizing the police and prisons is not allowed in America, and any who do are shunned or forced to retract. Yet, none dare to call America a police state.
The case of Special Inquisitor Herr Mueller vs Paul Manafort is also instructive as to how American Inquisitors proceed.

That we, in America, need to rehabilitate it, at all, is a simple matter of opinion; but, at the very least we can create some more inclusive categories, such as: de-facto spy, unAmerican agent-provocateur, accessory and accomplice of espionage, and so on . . . I would agree with this except for one problem. Russia appears to have some integrity, and an honest judicial system. To simply lower their standards to that of the American system, I believe would be under the Russian’s level of integrity, honesty and above all their honour..
Perhaps a better method would be to capture some American servicemen either in Syria or the Ukraine and simply offer them an exchange. Remember the American General, Randy Keyes I think it was who got wounded in the Ukraine a couple of years ago and the American Special Forces in the Ukraine lost about ten personnel in the first month’s fighting.

There’s also that pilot that’s being held – but he was involved in drug running – so I heard – maybe that’s why the Kremlin is doing more for this girl – than for him.
What proof did they show that the Russian pilot was involved in drug dealing? He was arrested outside the US where US law does not apply and extradited to the US. This is just another anti-Russian act on the part of the US authorities to apply more pressure on Russia.
If the US authorities were really against drug running, they would go against US big pharma that is behind the opioid crisis in the US. There is a CBS 60 minute documentary on this if you are interested. A simple google search will get you the link (CBS 60 minute and opioid crisis in the US). If you watch the documentary you will see that the opioid crisis in the US could not have happened without the US government complicity.
Arresting a Russian outside the US and blaming him with drug running is not going to solve the opoid crisis in the US. In fact, it has nothing to do with it. Most of the drugs in the US, when they are not produced in the US by big pharma, comes from Central South America.
Now if you really want to learn more about how the US helped the opium producers in Afghanistan, just ask Google. It will tell you that when the talibans were in power, the production of opium was almost eradicated. After the US invaded Afghanistan and took control of the country, the production increased dramatically. That’s how the US fight the drug lords.
I’d also recommend a book I once read called “White Out”. Its about the CIA drug running that took the cocaine from south and central America and ran it up into the American cities. The CIA was responsible for the ‘crack epidemic’ that in turn was used by Ronnie and Nancy Raygun to attack American citizens in their “War on Americans”, otherwise known as the “War on the inanimate objects known as Drugs”.
The book is also about the destruction of the brave reporter who reported on the CIA drug running for a newspaper in San Jose.
Interestingly, Ollie North, the US Marine who was in command of the whole CIA, Iran-Contra, drug-running affair is today considered respectable and is the President of the NRA or National Rifle Association. It was the NRA’s cause that Butina was supporting and wanted to bring to Russia. But of course, Ollie is showing his typical American loyalty towards allies and is staying very, very quiet about Butina’s case. After all, wouldn’t one expect the whole alt-right, pro-gun movement to be screaming at the top of their keyboards about how awful it is that the evil American government which wants to seize all guns is attacking this lady who’s “crime” is that she thinks the 2nd Amendment is a grand idea? That’s a dog that isn’t barking in this particular night.

In my considered opinion, once any person considers the unlawful treatment of Maria Butina, then it must be considered that a ‘political’ case is being built up against an innocent person for purely propaganda purposes to continue the war against Russia by the Us Government.
Had the US actually captured a Russian spy then they would have been far more interested in obtaining information from her than simply incarcerating her and then lodging her in solitary confinement.
I cannot grasp hnow the US govt can carry on so despicably toward a Russian citizen.

But the geopolitical ramifications and subtext are particularly odious, and dangerous, in the case of a Russian national.
Surely it is some kind of crime to “soften” someone up for a plea bargain via harsh detention designed to *crush* the person (absolutely the right word, chosen by the russian human rights lady). .
This whole plea bargain scenario is one of the most negative aspects of the U.S. system of justice, or make that “justice.”
The whole plea bargain system is a travesty, one that is increasingly infecting other countries, I have read.
It is infuriating to hear how my government is yanking Butina about. She is only 30, and probably has done nothing wrong. Her father must be beside himself to learn of the terrible conditions his daughter is in.

American’s are treated this shoddily or worse every day for any or no real offence. The good news is she is still alive. Let’s hope and insist she stays this way. Where are the Skripal’s? For the life of me, I can’t understand why any Russians would feel an attraction to want to come to the U.S., never mind move there. I’m Canadian. I used to like crossing the border. Then i woke up and saw what the country is. I gave up my enhanced drivers license and have no interest to go down there. I could be coaxed to move to Russia.
The American Empire and its embedded “free press” are suffering from imperial delusion, hinking they can engage in blatant imprisonment (or kidnapping) of foreign citizens on trumped-up pretexts and not have other nations see it for what is: American thuggery–disguised behind pathetic media propaganda about “American freedom and democracy.”
Marina Butina is not the first, and she will not be the last that the (snicker) “Land of the Free” imprisons.
