The Russians saw the posting of western troops and the overthrow of the legitimate government of Ukraine by pro western backed rebels as an invasion of a country with which they share a border. Just think what would happen if a country like Mexico became a RUssian satellite. . They are entitled to see things this way because these actions viewed from their perspective would seem to be a provocation and a threat to them
