Thanks, Saker. I didn’t participate in a July 4th celebration, either. I have no ill feelings towards ordinary Americans–I try not to hate anyone–but I don’t believe in the ideology of the U.S. any more.

I was in high school in the US in the 1960’s and one big difference between then and now is music. Much of folk music then addressed civil rights, the environment, and the injustice of war. That music inspired many of us. I recently attended a concert by Peter and Paul (Mary is deceased). Not one song about Palestine. Why would that be, I wonder?

Me too. Wasn’t interested in July 4th. I still hear lots of fire-works going off all around but I didn’t bother to walk up the hill to see them. I thought about those folks in Ukraine and Gaza. It seemed wrong to watch a “fake” war when others were experiencing a real one. Dear Lord — what have we done? Such wickedness is difficult to comprehend. Shameful really.

Don’t be so hard on yourself Saker. Do not allow malicious malpractice to enter your sanctuary — your thought. Your only responsibility is to Truth. You’re not responsible for anothers hate. And take care of you and yours.

While Kiev battles eastern Ukrainians today, the prospect of those in the west rising up against an increasingly feeble government squandering state resources in pursuit of Western dictates is on the rise. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s pursuit of an unwinnable war in the east coupled with merely rubber-stamping US-EU mandates regarding the Ukrainian economy is a recipe for growing domestic dissent that could appear in the streets of Kiev itself. With Kiev augmenting its floundering military with irregular, mercenary factions of questionable loyalty, those fighting for Kiev in the east today, could end up toppling the regime back in Kiev tomorrow.

For those in the east, digging in and standing their ground is a literal matter of survival. Well, yasterday, the last thing I did before going to sleep was to see the latest news in the blog. Though at last the sun shone through here, after several days without seeing it, I felt sad.
I think maybe I should take a little distance. I´ve never gotten so much in a war, I can not stop thinking Novorussia people either walking along the beach or working. I´ve never appreciated so much what is live in peace. Small everyday problemas seems silly.
Although summer is for me the most beautiful time of the year, this year I do not fell so well, and even though I should have already booked my holiday for September, I do not know why I do not, I resist.
Basically, I would like to use this time to help those people….

I hope, and to some extent trust, the militia got out alive. What the militia has definitely done is the following.

PLEASE PAY ATTENTION.

1) Kiev destroyed the city’s infrastructure… for whatever reason, whatever sociopathic reason.

2) Now, they must restore it.

The meme will be that the militia destroyed the infrastructure (which, please note, even if it were true, which it blatantly isn’t, doesn’t make a shred of difference: Kiev was “saving” the city), that the infrastructure is very hard to replace, and that it will take time. In other words, too bad for the inhabitants of the city.

This is a losing strategy, and certainly not a strategy that will in any future within the boundaries of the lifetime of the universe permit “taking back Crimea”.

It is a tragedy, perpetrated by Kiev and its European and American backers, but it is also a tactical victory for Russia. I say this impartially.

There are universally recognized different names for them than American – Yankees and Southerners – and they certainly have different names for the rest of us – Rednecks, Hillbillies, Hicks, Yokels, Country-Bumpkin, Hayseeds.

A politics for the future in America will figure out a way to unite the midlands against our coastal elite instead of allowing them to divide us so that they always win.

As to Frederic Douglas, abolitionists of his ilk are part of the reason so much history is misunderstood or outright whitewashed, starting with the use of American Midlanders and Appalachians as canon fodder for the political struggle between New England and Virginia in the American Civil War that was justified as a fight over slavery but was really a struggle over who would profit from the Africans in America – southern planters or northern merchants. Really even today via the deceptive sex-trade stocking the brothels of Amsterdam, New York, Tel-Aviv, and really in many parts of the world the slave trade in Rus women continues even now.

Both cases show Putin has the right of it. The neocon pursuit of full spectrum dominance is a chimera. It is grinding the United States into the dust. A multipolar world is the minimum requirement for democracy and economic development. The more the U$$A tries to subvert it all by force of arms, the sooner it goes into its totalitarian death spiral, unable to meet the basic needs of its citizens. If it had supported eastern Europe in the ’90s, rather than looting it, just think how prosperous we all would be.

I have a lot of time for Lyndon LaRouche (although he confuses the Crown with the Queen’s person, and inexplicably supports Hillary). He sees American history as a perpetual struggle between the American system (which inspired Bismarck) and the City of London’s attempts to subvert it, with the Kennedy assassination (and the attempts on De Gaulle) starting the latest round of subordination. This seems much healthier than a unilinear recital of the nation’s atrocities, perpetrated by that question-begging “we”.

I concur with Bakunin. Ukraine is lost. Whatever Poroshenko, Putin or Obama do. The ongoing situation will just accelerate the collapse. Ukraine is already a decrepit bankrupt economy due to the non stop oligarchic corruption and the conflict accelerates this. It is a pity (I mean it) for all Ukrainians but specially for the ones in Novorussia. Putin does probably right not intervening but that means that the people from East will be sacrificed. For what purpose? Ask the current Ukrainian “leaders”, ask Obama, the EU “leaders”, ask Merkel. Do they care? They do not, I am sure.

There is one thing that puzzles me about the distribution of forces on the two sides as shown in this map. There are two narrow bands of incursion by Ukies parallel to the Russian border, one form the south west and the other from the north east. If one or both of these incursions could be sealed off at the mouth, then the trapped Ukies could be forced to retreat into Russian territory. That would surely give a legal pretext for Russian action. I guess the problem is the lack of men to do it.
