RT reports:
US State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki and Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby have been challenged over the Department of Defense’s claims that the US must “deal” with “modern and capable” Russian armed forces on NATO’s doorstep.
Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu expressed “grave concern” and “surprise” at a Wednesday speech made by US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel during the Association of the United States Army’s annual conference. Hagel declared that US armed forces “must deal with a revisionist Russia – with its modern and capable army – on NATO’s doorstep.”
Kirby was confronted by AP journalist Matt Lee over NATO expansion closer to the Russian borders at the State Department’s daily press briefing on Thursday. Here is their exchange:
Good to know that there are still journalists willing to challenge blatant lies and distortions of reality.
The Russians obviously did not move their country closer to NATO. Instead, the US puppet NATO has moved onto Russia’s doorstep. The Russians would have to be suffering from a collective severe intellectual disability not to understand that as a hostile action. And the American people willing deluded to believe such transparent and obvious government lies.
– WideAwake
Hagel, with his comments, and Obama with his recent UN speech may be destroying whatever Atlanticist attitude remains in Russia. Medvedev said that Obama must have a ‘mental aberrantion’ to have said what he did at the UN, and now we have this bit of dumbassery courtesy of Chuck Hagel. Watching Psaki try to explain is a bonus LOL. Thanks to Matt Lee for continuing to be a thorn in Jen Psaki’s side.
In this hilarious exchange, a stammering Kirby (belatedly rescued by Psaki who’s a more skilled and accomplished liar) admits to “barely passing history”. In the US, with its strong anti-intellectual culture, being a dummy shows you’re “one of the people” and to be celebrated.
The Ukrainians want Poland to supply them with coal this winter…for free!
There is this recurring theme of “we deserve things for free” in Ukrainian politics.
The Poles say “no” to that idea.

PUH-LESE stop using terms like “imperial” when you refer to USG. It’s such a farce when you do. Peter the Great was “Imperial”. Catherine the Great was “Imperial”. Victoria Nuland = 3 generations from fiddler on the roof. Not “imperial”. Most Americans have no idea what you mean by “Imperial”. We aren’t even pretenders to the title. For crying-out-loud — have you EVER seen ANYTHING in Florida that screams “imperial” to you? Maybe Mar-a-Lago is imperial wannabe. Kirby was educated at one of those “imperial” colleges in South Florida. Yikes! Poor little Jen Psaki from the “imperial” ivy league full of 4rd generation roof-fiddlers. Sigh… Americans are many things. Imperial isn’t one of them.
Am Empire of Bases. As historian Chalmers Johnson says. Rather an inferior ersataz empire by way of what certain others have offered the world, granted.
Just another example of the geographically challenged American… remember Psaki’s knee slapper about the 6th fleet being deployed to the shores of Belarus?

The minions of the USSA believe that they are the exceptional nation, that whatever comes out of their collective mouths is true, no matter the real facts. In other words, the USSA is a psychopathic empire.
The man said, “I barely got a history degree from the University of South Florida.”
.
What an appalling statement! And said in a defensive tone, replying to a legitimate, logical question. Plus, there’s a strong sense of self-effacement, as if he wants us to forgive him for being unable to give a reasonable answer. This is a spokesman for the US Dept of Defense? A Navy admiral? It’s pathetic. Embarassing.
What a punk and liar, that Kirby is. “barely passed history” And this stupidity is watched all over the world as we are profess to be self-appointed leader of the world?
Pathetic.
Wow… just wow..What a pathetic shill that spokesman is.. he got destroyed by facts.
Hahaha, i remember my times sojourning in Harvard as an academic and finding out the obvious, that would not have been that foreigner had come to teach and research there, MIT and Harvard would have been of little worth as ultimately they have started to free fall as all USAhas. Remember, would it not be for the engineers that came from India Silicon Valley had long become a failure. USA never ever had a broad educated elite but for few giants like Peirce. Thanks to the AZs and the Nazis, the top european scientists migrated to USA before and following WW2. And of course, Operation Paperclip. Most of the PhD students in the scienes in the USA are foreigners. The American elite is hot air smelling gunpowder and rot.

One has to wonder how long it will be before the powers-that-be become annoyed enough with Matt Lee’s penetrating boat-rocking questions to demand that AP fire him.
Would that the other so-called journalists had the wit and fortitude to demand answers similarly.
Surely they meant “revanchist” rather than “revisionist”?
Oh what am I saying, they’re idiots!
This made my day. Matt Lee Rocks!
The State Dept has no credibility and are engaged in ethnic cleansing and mass murder in the Ukraine. The US Military disgraces itself by backing this criminal scum.
LOL! I thought the Poles love the criminal Ukraine junta. No free coal? A Polish pilot was supposedly at the controls of the SU25 that should down the Malaysian airliner. Enjot them Apples in Poland.
Barely got a history deegree at University of South Florida? What a joke as the school is about fifth tier university. Paid liars and criminals in Obala Amerika.
Wow, I can’t believe this. He does not know the history. Hahaha, he surely also can not read a map: http://edge.liveleak.com/80281E/ll_a_s/2014/Oct/18/LiveLeak-dot-com-ee7_1413677488-1bqFaoP_1413677550.jpg?d5e8cc8eccfb6039332f41f6249e92b06c91b4db65f5e99818bdd6954a44d3d172b3&ec_rate=230

Meritocracy obviously not operational here it begs to be asked: A genuine U.S. Navy Rear Admiral, who’s rear?
they don’t like being confronted with their own aggression, they don’t like being questioned about the underlying motives of their geopolitical maneuvering. We need more journalists to hold them to account. They are always clearly rattled when someone challenges them.
@AGS (18 October, 2014 17:32):
PUH-LESE stop using terms like “imperial” when you refer to USG.
People will stop referring to the USG as ‘imperial’ when it stops being an empire. Same as Britain, France, and all the rest.
“Most Americans have no idea what you mean by “Imperial”
How about the United States of Incredibly Absurd Hypocrisy? Doesn’t roll of the tongue like Empire or Imperial though.
I think Imperial is an apt description, even if dumb AmeriKans don’t know what that means or think that they are.

The piece is limited in scope and hence could be said to obfuscate by omission.

Where did Axel Springer find the paper all these years ago?
EU countries are already forbidden to circumvent Ukraine when buying Russian gas. Now the next step is prepared – restriction of the freedom of memberstates to negotiate gas contracts with Russia.
Russian gas less mighty than it looks, EU says: EU leaders meeting in Brussels on 23 and 24 October will also discuss energy security. Draft conclusions dated 13 October and seen by EUobserver speak of “a possible major disruption [of Russian gas supplies] in the upcoming winter”. The leaders are to agree “urgent measures” to reach an old target of having electricity interconnectors capable of carrying 10 percent of installed capacity.
They are to boost the target to 15 percent by 2030. They also aim to give the commission more of a say when EU states negotiate supply contracts with Russia in future. “In order to increase the EU’s bargaining power in the energy negotiations … member states and involved companies provide relevant information to the commission and systematically seek its advice throughout negotiations”, the draft text notes.

This is what is so interesting his defense “I’m dumb so not my fault” I wish more members of the media would grow some and challenge the bullshit more often.
If such a bumbling jackass can accumulate all the medals he’s wearing,
you have to wonder how big a military threat the U.S. really is.
The “smart” “next-generation” weapons turned out to be not so smart, but we can see the reason for the desperation to get something with a brain into the action.
