On this amazingly beautiful planet, a certain prominent society has been exhibiting rather strange behaviour in recent decades. Surprisingly, it is the ‘high IQ’ people of this society – its presumed ‘thought-leaders’ – who show the strangest patterns of behaviour.
The ‘high IQ’ strange patterns of behaviour may be categorized roughly as follows:
(1) Many ‘high IQ’ people (HIQP, for short), have decided to go yakety-yak 24×7. Various desires seem to motivate this behaviour, the more common among them being: Becoming highly-paid experts, celebrities, authors, political appointees or consultants; winning local or other elections; building fake brands; restoring reputations; settling old scores.
(2) Other HIQP have decided that their only interest in the society is: How much money can I squeeze out of everybody else, using any means legal or not-so-legal? In other words, for such HIQP the society is just another ‘resource’ to be strip-mined.
(3) Still other HIQP are busy disrupting whatever they see working smoothly in society. At least two very different kinds of the disruption are seen. One involves disrupting all existing economic relations because that process may prove hugely profitable, given the technology nirvana that is said to be just around the corner. The other involves disrupting the society’s self-esteem, in anger at the many societal injustices which have occurred.
(4) Many HIQP flock to the legal profession – under the self-serving illusion that it is the law that holds a society together. In reality, lawyers are also disruptors, since they let no disagreement pass by without aggravating it and profiting from it. Things have come to such a sorry pass that even the most trivial of disagreements cannot get sorted out amicably.
(5) Many HIQP pretend to be ‘academics’, busy inventing new ‘advanced’ theories to boost their careers. Just as there is ‘crony capitalism’, there is also ‘crony academics’.
(6) Some HIQP prefer to work from behind the scenes – avoiding the limelight, and exercising hidden power without responsibility. They do not seem to have realized that the system they are pretending to control has become uncontrollable. Of course their outward tokens of control are in place – perhaps not trench-coats and hats any longer, but rows of computer displays spewing out what is imagined to be a faithful view of reality.
These HIQP categories are overlapping, of course. Many so-called ‘academics’, for example, are also busy becoming celebrities and angling for political appointments. Among these various categories of HIQP, there are endless rounds of collusion alternating with cut-throat competition – depending on what ‘situational ethics’ may dictate at any time.
Strictly speaking, these HIQP do not belong to the society. While they are quick to grab whatever they can, they abhor the thought of sharing in the society’s hardships. Having lived happily for decades in bubbles of unreality, they have become outwardly smug in the belief that nothing untoward can happen to them which cannot be easily talked away. As a result, their basic survival instinct and creativity has become blunted.
Apart from the technology nirvana which is ‘just around the corner’, the HIQP have no shared vision for the future of society, the younger generations, or the weaker citizens. In
spite of their high IQ, they have no practical judgement of difficult real-life situations.
Indeed, society and its well-being are conveniently ignored in the addled HIQP minds.
[Sidebar: Many may remember Maggie Thatcher’s infamous saying: ‘There is no such thing as society’. In an abstract philosophical sense she was right – except of course that she was PM, not a philosopher. Welfare of the people of a country is the prime responsibility of the prime minister. An abstract philosopher should quit and go to the Himalayas.
So what should WE understand by ‘society’? Simply this: ‘The people of the country’. Surely Thatcher could not have asserted: ‘There is no such thing as people of the country’!]
Imagine now that the society in question, infested with an oversupply of HIQPs, is also regarded as a ‘superpower’, meaning thereby that this society wields a horrific array of weapons of destruction. Right away, the tragic reality should be noted that power is nowadays associated with destruction rather than creativity.
What are the sources of this particular power? Mainly these: (a) might of weapons, (b) baggage of history, and – following from these two – (c) financial might.
So we now have a situation where HIQPs with addled minds are directly or indirectly controlling a vast array of weapons of destruction, both physical and financial.
This is definitely a present-day challenge for a thinking mind. But this challenge is not fundamentally any different from the uncountable challenges mankind has faced over the hundred millennia or so that it has been around on this beautiful planet.

So what’s with the photograph? Surely it is out of place here!
The photograph is NOT out of place. It shows a brave soldier, the very opposite of an HIQP. Most certainly, the soldier is an intelligent person; but he would probably NOT do too well on the IQ tests devised by the HIQP for their own glorification and cronyism.
The soldier is in all probability a family man and a respected member of his community. He is a reliable person, and he is ready to lay down his life in war, secure that his family would be more or less alright in the community. His main concern in war would be how many enemy personnel he ‘takes out’ before laying down his own life.
HIQPs and a brave soldier are temperamentally the opposites of each other. What then is the relationship between the HIQPs and the soldiers?
From the HIQP point of view, soldiers are – what else? – ‘pawns’. These ‘pawns’ are to be utilized in a delusional game of geopolitical chess.
From the soldier’s point of view, the HIQPs represent ‘civilian power’. In today’s age of global spread of awareness, however, the soldier does not have blind faith in any power –civilian or divinely ordained – for which he would gladly lay down his life.
The soldier today has a critical mind, which ‘pawns’ during the World War I, for example, might not have had. Today a soldier must know and accept the reason for going to war.
Can the HIQPs provide the right reason for a soldier to lay down his life?
In the self-centred world of HIQPs, right and wrong do not matter. To make their crazy life seem ‘smart’, HIQPs have invented phrases like ‘post-truth’. So as long as one is articulate, persuasive, photogenic, assertive and well-networked – what one says does not matter.
The truth value of a narrative does not count. What counts is only the result: Which narrative ‘looked like it carried the day’? That explains the HIQP’s 24×7 yakety-yak.
In such an environment, rational debate is not possible.
Rational debate requires mutual understanding and acceptance of the premises and the process of logical thinking. There is of course an unwritten rule of wise people that the premises must accord with reality, with truth.
For HIQPs, all that matters is whether a debater is articulate, persuasive, photogenic, assertive and well-networked. There is no need to introduce any pesky ‘truth’ in the debate. It is far easier to just continue being articulate, persuasive … et cetera. Keep playing. Truth is a can which can always be kicked further down the road. Tomorrow is another day.
If rational debate is not possible, can diplomacy succeed? Of course not! After all, diplomacy also has its premises and its conventions of debate.
And what happens if diplomacy fails? Conflict, what else?
Here it must be noted that, even during a conflict, HIQPs would be ‘directing’ the course of the conflict on behalf of one or more adversaries.
So now we reach a key point. The HIQPs do not seem to understand a basic fact: The gun does not win the war; the soldier behind the gun does.
Absolutely the highest qualities of mind are required in battle. A key ingredient of such a highly trained mind is unflinching faith that the person is waging a just war.
However, the self-centred HIQPs are driven by greed and lust, including power-lust. It is simply impossible for them to bring to life a unifying cause or vision which brings people together towards a just and worthy cause which calls for a big sacrifice.
[Sidebar: HIQPs are constantly making and breaking alliances even within their own small coteries. For example, if a few of them are vying for the same vacuously powerful but juicy position – say the Assistant Special Secretary (Housing) for Oman, Lebanon and Egypt[*] – then they are for all practical purposes ‘at draggers drawn’ against each other. Well-being of the people of Oman, Lebanon and Egypt is just a ‘meme’ which may prove useful sometime.
[*] An executive order has been signed stating that, for national security reasons, the above-referred position should always be written out in full, never by its acronym.]
In the present age of awareness, it is inevitable that most soldiers see through the games of the HIQPs – while a few may actually join the HIQPs in the chase for power and fame.
We live in interesting times, when even the meaning of ‘intelligence’ must be questioned and rediscovered. If ‘intelligence’ is driven by greed and lust, it becomes tragically and pathologically short-sighted. Then ‘high IQ’ can only worsen and hasten matters.
The author’s preferred definition of ‘intelligence’ links it closely to community well-being.
Some more thoughts broadly in this direction can be found at economics-for-you.club.
A superb piece.
Spot On…a perfect analysis of one key aspect of The Human Condition.
By chance i have come across a letter written in a London newspaper, a few days after the 9-11 False Flag event in NY, where one of these supposed HIQPs postulated that the example that must henceforth be followed by Western Governments was set by the “Malay Emergency” – basically the need to quell any rebellion against the existing order – aka British Colonial Dominance – with extreme force, to make sure the rest of the population is “safe” – aka intimidated…
Name me just one ‘Just’ War that Britain has been involved in since then…
Why are those soldiers who join up today (surely knowing what the HIQPs want from them) still so keen to join the Military (surely knowing just how little interest the HIQPs have in their welfare when they return to civilian life)
…and still there is a continuous stream of new recruits…
It will be a fine day when the HIQPs decide on a malevolent act …and no one obeys…
You mentioned the 9/11 false-flag events where those supposed HIQP conspired to pull the wool over our eyes with the preposterous “official” narrative, that 19 Arabs armed with box cutters led by Osama bin Laden, holed up in a cave in Afghanistan, knocked down 3 buildings with two airplanes. This narrative emerged fully-formed within hours of the events, with pictures of all the highjackers plastered all over newspapers, long before any actual evidenced-based investigation could possibly have been conducted.
Ever since, those same HIQP have disparaged anyone who questions that narrative, “What are you going to believe, what we tell you to believe or your lying eyes?”
Both you and the author a making the same faulty assumption, that the people making pronouncements and acting as authorities in public have high IQ’s. By all “insider” associate accounts neither George Bush nor Dick Cheney had high IQs. Obama had his academic records hidden, likely for good reason. Trump allegedly paid someone to write his SATs.
Since that information is not publicly available I suggest you both scrap the HIQP thesis, since there is no real data to support it. Quite the opposite, the public success of these people is their ability to speak in a manner easily understood by the Average person.
The high functioning psychopaths (probably Mossad) who pulled off the 9/11 false-flag attacks were incredibly smart, with very high IQs which helped them orchestrate the controlled demolitions of those three buildings in NYC. Their total lack of empathy for the thousands of innocent people who died was only matched by their ingenuity and resourcefulness in manipulating the US government and the MSM to sell the “official” narrative to a gullible public.
Removed. Mod.
As for IQ, Nassim Taleb, generally accepted as a bright guy, has done a brilliant take down of the theory that IQ testing means much in the real world, other than you are a good test taker.
https://medium.com/incerto/iq-is-largely-a-pseudoscientific-swindle-f131c101ba39
PS… I was a very good test taker.
I’ve taken several IQ tests, and scored consistently very highly (in the MENSA range), but I discount them totally. Why? Because all they measure is the ability to recognise patterns, which has next to nothing to do with intelligence. IQ tests are basically a tool by which left-brained, less than fully scrupulous, elites can feel good about their position in the “ordained” state of things.
Indeed. But if the Freudian E-Peen Unit doesn’t have unambiguous real-world meaning (much less clear enough to use it as a measure) in the first place, the rest is very simple. You can replace the HIQcuP with “people whom the scammers and their parrots anointed as the aristocracy”. With the obvious implication that they are selected for either being already in the club or being easy to swindle.
I mean, was Peter Gleick praising himself in his own fraud, or was he but a figurehead played by “his” minion using crude flattery? Who knows, but it was laughably stupid either way.
Which brings us to another point already covered by Taleb — in “The Intellectual Yet Idiot”. ;]
Makes sense to me.
“There are things that only those who have a mind can feel, and there are things that only those who
have a heart understand” – A quote of József Eötvös Hungarian author and politician (1813-1871)
Brilliant. Full of gems.
“Crony academics”
and
“Rational debate requires mutual understanding and acceptance of the premises and the process of rational thinking.”
and
“…the tragic reality should be noted that power is nowadays associated with destruction rather than creativity”.
“The gun does not win the war; the soldier behind the gun does.”
Oh, the HIQPs know that all too well. Why do you imagine war is getting increasingly automated and fully mechanised? Soldiers will soon be obsolete; wars will be fought entirely by computer programmers and joystick jockeys.
That may indeed come to pass, I suppose. But I believe that, in that scenario, the unintended consequences of those technologies will far exceed any partial achievement of intended consequences. Seriously :)
Of course our “leaders” are planning to “defend” us via robots and AI (artificial intelligence).
Here is an example of the “strategic thinking” currently occupying some gray cells located in the academy’s Department of Violence Studies:

In the US we have guidance counselors in high school. In the early 1990s everyone was being exhorted to “make their mark on the world” by going to college and joining the professional-managerial class instead of painting grafitti. This casual arrogance and entitlement is the result.
Neoliberal epistemology is all about the noise. Philip Mirowski’s recent keynote, “Hell is Truth Seen Too Late”, describes the neoliberal bullshit process as the Neoliberal Thought Collective themselves described it. Search for the video or the text. A sample:
Remember, when you are talking with a neoliberal, you are not talking to an intelligent person, but a sociopath, a pathological liar, a gleeful murderer, a whiny little bitch, a puppet of the ruling class, and/or a servile cuckold to any bull figure that shows up on his television set, and quite likely at his or her front door. You are talking to the Antichrist, to Mammon, to the enemy of humanity itself. Physical removal is the correct response so that they can feel the Chile they clamor for and then some.
Dear Naresh,
May I be so bold as to disagree with some of your comments.
I would definitely strongly disagree with your assumptions that the people in a ‘certain country’ with high IQ’s are the precursor of most of the world’s problems today. For a start you have not defined just exactly what a ‘high IQ’ actually is, and if we take the standard IQ as being 100, then does that mean that anybody with an IQ of 101 is in the realm of High IQ?
I mean, take for example your laughing military officer, from the artillery I believe he is, and with the three stars he would be of the rank of Captain. Now the army does not let just any person access to their Military training colleges and I believe that this particular officer as per most would have an IQ of about 120, and yes, that has to be considered as a ‘high’ IQ. But to assist that high IQ there needs to be some other ingredients, such as a willingness to work hard, to study and learn the art of being a good soldier, and a leader of men.
In regard to a ‘high’ IQ, many people believe that Albert Einstein was the greatest thinker of his time, but poor Albert failed to get into university as he failed the maths test three times. However, his Serbian wife did not fail, and understood mathematics far better than poor Albert. And the person whom I consider to be the better thinker, Nikola Tesla, thought Albert was mistaken in his comprehension of forces in space.
Your comment in regard to soldiers being pawns, I believe was first made by Heinz Kissinger who had fled Austria with his family in 1939 to America and was subsequently drafted after the war and because he could speak German was sent to Germany to locate certain Germans hiding from the Allies. Apparently Heinz was noted to have been given the rank of ‘Colonel’ in the KGB for his work in Germany, but the CIA when informed of this were apparently not interested in a lowly Harvard professor.
In (4) you illuminate the ‘Legal’ profession. What is not mentioned is that the study of ‘Law’ is one of those ‘Arty’ degrees that are the easiest degrees to earn, as long as one can comprehend the teachings of Blackstone, and more importantly Marx, if one hopes to become employed by government. And of course for the students at the rear of the learning curve there is always the possibility of becoming a politician. As an added risk though there is constantly the consumption of recreational drugs, which should include alcohol, and the over participation of these drugs frequently disrupts the thinking ability of any scholar, sometimes to the degree of ineptitude. (Why am I thinking of Billy and Hillary?)
And then you speak of cronyism, and of graft and all of the other forms of corruption, which has always taken place in political institutions going back to ancient Greek, and we should bear in mind Lord Acton’s law of ‘Power corrupts; ‘Absolute power corrupts absolutely’ which is what Senator Cicero meant when he stated ‘Speak softly so that they may not hear’.
In all of this I find no real evidence of any ‘High IQ’, but much rather the lack of any real intelligence in the hunt and grab for power, for money also equates to power, and somewhere in the back of my mind, I can still hear Lord Rothschild stating; ” I care not for what laws you make as he who controls the money makes the laws, and I hold the purse strings.
And in all of that there is not one iota of a brain cell required to understand and to hold out the hand for the brown envelope.
Excellent points. By ‘High IQ’ people I refer to those who go to great lengths to make a show of their self-assumed high intelligence. Always in helpful networked settings — and always as though no other human quality matters. I believe it is a cunning tactic to demand more and more from society. This tactic does not require true understanding. BTW, we have HIQP in India as well, but there are many other countervailing forces in the country. In the society I mentioned, HIQP seem to have the field to themselves.
Dear Naresh,
Thank you for the response. I would also believe that in the society you talk about, as in most societies, those holding a position of power will always move swiftly to remove any unsuspecting person who appears to be a perceived threat to their status. Situation normal, and the most likely reason why that society has reduced its political power to that of morons.
It used to be called, La Trahison des Clercs: the treason of the professional class. It meant not only to betray one’s country but also to betray one’s own hard-won professional standards. La trahison des clercs is extremely conspicuous these days, especially among the Legal, Medical and Academic professions.
Conspicuous exceptions to La Trahison are to be found on this site; for instance, the professional integrity of Architects and Engineers for 911 Truth (www.ae911truth.org) or Scott Ritter’s uncompromising Loyalty to the Truth about WMD (for which loyalty he was dismissed as UN Chief Weapons Inspector).
“Quis custodet ipsos custodes?” — Juvenal
What an incisive overview !!!
You, Naresh, have put into words what I have been struggling to write here, and in the Moon Of Aabama site
Those who have a heart, AND who have a mind anchored in reality (truth), will have no problems agreeing with the thrust of your brilliant analysis of the broken “thought-leaders” of a certain exceptionally indispensable nation.
And to think that there are those who attempt to redirect discussion here into the minefield of IQ definitions and other minutae.
> articulate, persuasive, photogenic,
He lost it :-)
“Persuasive” includes reference to some reality (real or perceived) in it.
You persuade people by referring to what they already believe (rightly or not) as real.
So it still is not perfectly reality-decoupled in his explanation :-)
In the – not so abundant – literature on high IQ, a very significant difference is drawn between IQs of 120-125, who indeed dominate the world, and those people who score 130 and above, who are generally rejected persons, seen as weirdos and freaks. Another distinction between the two groups is in their ethical system of value : people above 130 display an almost obsessive interest in justice, even from early childhood, which totally exclude them from any political position – in fact, any position related to power at all -. It also makes them particularly hated by the 120-125 group, who understand just enough to – wrongly – see them as a menace to their power. A study made in the cinema industry has shown that the IQ diminishes when climbing the power pyramid, with technicians ranking the highest, and producers the lowest. So before exposing all high IQs to yet another division in our already torn society, please consider a more subtle and informed approach to this reality. What you are refering to as “HIQP” are to me a limited group of psychopaths scoring just enough to manipulate the majority. And the more powerful they are, the less intelligent they need to be : an evolution easy to observe in the last decades.
Dear Dominique,
That is interesting.
I joined the Police Farce in 68, and retired ill-health in 65 after running into something called police corruption. Then in 98 I began studying the Port Arthur Massacre, and a few other things. In later life I did an IQ test and scored 135. I tried again a month later and only scored 134, so I fit the picture that you have drawn.
My daughter tells me that scores of over 140 equate to genius.
Thank you very much.
From the soldier’s point of view, the HIQPs represent ‘civilian power’. In today’s age of global spread of awareness, however, the soldier does not have blind faith in any power –civilian or divinely ordained – for which he would gladly lay down his life.
HA!!!! No kidding!!!
But hey Naresh, a question to you sir. If the Divine could be proved beyond a shadow of a doubt especially the existence of a fountain of youth would that be of some interest to you and to soldiers today? Like that old movie Jason and the Argonauts and how to save a king they had to fight evil and find that fountain to save a king. Would that be the answer to the bulldung of high finance and high IQ people with which you speak about? Ah but this is fables, this doesn’t exist this fountain of eternal youth. Ah, but it does and it can be proved beyond a shadow of a doubt with many verifiable proofs even scientifically so. I should know I wrote the only book on the subject Climate Change the Work of God.
In history there were a people who defied an empire and why? Because they knew an important truth and that is because Christ lives we shall live also.
Revelation 2:8-11
“To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. I know your afflictions and your poverty-yet you are rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days.
Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.
or better yet…
I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. “He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. (Revelation 22:14) Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
You see what we need today is a return to what Apostolic Christianity knew about life and they won an empire because of it!!!!!!!!!.
As for your High IQ people HA!!!! the answer to such lies here…
“But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;” 1 Corinthians 1:27
It is my hope that this once again comes into full fruition and like our forefathers we will once again take hold of that which Christ took hold of us!!!!!!!!!
“24 hour yakit-i-yak”: what a wonderful phrase! HIQP who are entrained by the Lumpen-intelligentsia mob are those, sadly my Phd brother included, who have what was formerly called a social personality defect reflected by some maladjustment in their emotional ( astral?) body ( IMHO).
When I was in primary school in the 1950’s there were two sides of the report card: One listed the academic achievement and the other much longer one was for assessment of character development. Yes, the teachers were expected to have the expertise to figure out who was the possible budding sociopath ( bully) and who just could not keep his mouth shut.(chatterbox), although those precise words were not used and a more mollifying phraseology was inserted.
Since when did character not count? Even Martin Luther King’s most famous quote mentions it. Something was broken in the social character of the United States and then solidified into the minds of a whole generation.
For example, I have a very intelligent but ( arrogant to the max friend in her late 40’s who complained often about the abandonment of her baby boomers parents who were “never there” for her although she was raised in a stable middle class two-family (non divorced) home with 4 brothers and sisters. . One day as she was raving about the necessity of Biden’s election, the Bill Gates’s vaccines, and 5G EMF placement, I decided to give some Saturn-like discipline ( verbally, energetically, confrontationally) . She became hysterically angry, left in a huff screaming, ” I am so through with you” and I have not heard from her since.
Maybe starting my little teaching by saying that it is in the nature of capitalism to have periodic catastrophic collapse which your generation was not taught thus your belief in the inevitable linear perfection of humanity under it…did not help? Well, that is what a Saturn teacher by nature does. perhaps in her mind I have joined her b-ich list of elders who have betrayed her…? Or maybe she got it? Saturn teacher by nature has no need to know this either.
Damn if you do, damned if you don’t. It is the time of the cultural revolution when the young are encouraged to eat the old yet do not realize they will be no better off for it.
IQ is a synthetic benchmark that serves just like a kind of religion to categorize us in lower and higher and guide us into behavioral patterns & to suggest us to think in certain ways (about our peers). Ways that are useful for the higher go(o)d and sense of achievement or badge of potential for the proud self worshipping individual despite its clearly non essential and easily exploited in real life.
High IQ may be a widely accepted concept and useful like antibiotics. If correctly applied.
I’d go for practical application of moral standards that most people of good will / religion or not would agree with first. That’s not to say there could be no fake rating for a morality test and that I won’t hang out in the bottom end in any version good or bad of it.
The intelligent people that were behind 9/11 and by definition of their intelligence did decide to take the educated risk that the general public would not disturb the geopolitical goals by focusing their indignation and rage to where it would make a difference. Instead it would behave unintelligent, entertained enough to buy into the explanation “x did it and by these means” because we say so and here is all the proof you’ll ever need, BTW forget Afghanistan, let’s have a closer laser guided look at Iraq.
Unintentionally the IQ test post 9/11 has becomes so much easier: Q: do you still believe that narrative or are you 20 yrs old and never even heard/read/thought about it? Sorry ,no chance to be hired in my for profit company.
As someone with a high IQ, and military service, I must add some caveats here. What the author seems to describe are the banes of Academia; the dumb shits in the liberal arts programs. The pyramid structure of the publicly funded institution has aligned itself with the needs of turds from these programs to not only attain useless and counterproductive employment, but to thrive at taxpayer expense. One needs students to justify employment as an instructor, by any means necessary. Student aid, as well as government support all add to the number of suckers induced through the doors. More students mean more secretaries, adjuncts, etc., all of which mean more deans and more money for the Chancellors. So…. we seduce mediocre students into debt poverty, as well as convincing decent students into easy majors to stroke egos with A’s and the occasional B, all while partying and having the ‘college experience’. And, since the adage ‘College has ruined many a good truck driver’ is anything but false, we now have grad students in these crap fields since a BA won’t get a job so they go to grad programs. Of course they won’t make more than a journeyman in a skilled trade, there is the emperor’s clothes going on. The end result is an arrogant student becoming a demanding slug that has the time and energy to protest and rebel against a system that not only failed him/her, but has convinced said shit head that it’s Trump’s fault.
The basic enemy here is an academic system that pushes any teacher’s pet into a useless degree and debt, rather than the reality of the market. The Elois are running the show, and it is only a matter of time until the system fails from inefficiency. The USSR failed for similar reasons; one can’t prop up an unproductive system indefinitely, and until the government grows some balls and pulls the plug on these liberal arts programs, as well as the inadequate secondary schools that push them, we will continue to circle the drain until the whole thing becomes Medieval
