Personally, I was very affected by these US elections, more than I expected. After some days of real sadness, I started to think again. And I came to the conclusion that the results are not so bad, finally.
Once more, reality has proven much more creative than all human theories. Obviously, the US elections were a very important event. The meaning that the result does not matter, was plainly rejected. The meaning that these elections will change nothing, has to be abandoned. It is of course true that the results are provisionally; as President Trump says: „The simple fact is this election is far from over.“ Nevertheless, an assessment is already possible.
In the last four or five years, the West has concentrated enormous forces in order to destroy Trump and Trumpism. The hatred organized against Trump was just monstrous. The reason for this hatred was never really clarified. Ultimately, the reason was just that Trump was somewhat different, he was not enough conformist for the Western establishment. He had some genuine popular support and he was difficult to control.
But what is the result of this hate campaign, in terms of success? Very small. Even if Trump finally loses the election, this is only due to the pandemic and the economic problems produced by the pandemic. Still, half of the US population voted for Trump. However, one „success“ has to be considered. The West can now claim that the hatred was justified. But this is unlikely to continue for very long.
In Western Europe (I live in Switzerland), the mood was probably even more anti-Trump than in the USA. European leaders like Merkel are now quite enthusiastic. NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg also seems to be very happy. Nevertheless, I would say that the hangover is already knocking on the door.
Because one point is obvious: Even if the West wins, the prize is very huge. It will be just a tactical victory, but probably a strategic disaster. The West lost a great part of the US population. The West could not destroy the Trumpism. For sure, the nationalist movements in Europe will now strengthen again. It will be almost impossible to stop the Brexit process. In the global South, the countries will more and more refuse to make a choice between the West and China/Russia. The West will again be occupied by mutual backslapping and by their anti-Russian rhetoric. This will impress nobody in the global South. Probably, the first result of an anti-Trump US government will be a re-strengthening of the relations with Western Europe (and may-be with Canada), but this by far not enough in order to compensate the losses for the West.
In the end, the strategy, aiming above all at the destruction of Trump and the Trumpism, was very stupid. Trump was not so bad for the West. He was leading a quite vicious politics against Iran and China. He tried to adapt Western politics to the new situation in the world with the rising China and Russia and their strategic collaboration. He tried hard to fuel conflicts between countries of the global South. He strengthened the relations with important allies of the West, such as Saudi Arabia, and he did his best to not escalate the tensions with Turkey.
So, the behavior of the West with respect to Trump was very irrational. It just helped to prolongate Western illusions about their world-wide significance. It will now be even more difficult to develop politics which are based on realistic analyzes. The scientific thinking will become even weaker. In short, the West will be backward and obscurant. Industrial development will stagnate. In some sense, the West will be like the declining feudal forces, very well described in the Communist Manifesto by Marx and Engels. On the other hand, Trump was like: „A spectre is hanting Europe … All the powers of old Europe have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this specter: Pope and Tsar, Metternich and Guizot, French radicals and German police-spies.“ Of course, Trump is not a socialist or communist; but against the backward, obscurant, and boring feudal West, he represents the modern capitalist, who is interested in technology and business, not in dull ideological brainwashing.
As a result, Trump is no longer the lesser evil, I see him now as a strategic ally. His behavior in the last days was quite positive. His assurance „I will not rest until the American People have the honest vote count they deserve“ is credible for me. Of course, it remains possible that he will betray a great part of the American people and compromise with the other side. At least for the moment, it does not look like this.
After some five years of „experience“ with Trump, I can say the following. While I have seen that Trump has disturbed many people, this was not the case for me. Of course, I did not like his lack of measure and his politics when they were against Iran, China Syria, Lebanon, Venezuela, Russia, Cuba, or others. For me, he is merely a sincere, forthright person, not a „liar“„ not „erratic“. He has his principles; he might be a bit self-absorbed (I am not sure about this), but he never made me an egoistic impression. And thinking that he is stupid, is just absurd for me. He remembers me a bit Tina Turner. When she had her great comeback, many people were criticizing her since she wore short skirts, in her age. She usually answered that she has a job to do.
That Trump becomes an ally, instead of the lesser evil, is of course a huge strategic shift. Before, the West felt a bit uncomfortable since Trump did not really support Western unity and Western strength; he had his program of „America first“. But the new situation is worse for the West. Henceforth, Trumpism is more or less an open enemy, due to the fact that the other side has made such big efforts in order to demonize Trumpism. So, there is no reason to despair. New opportunities are now available, and the difficulties of the Western side are massive.
Nationalism – Each country looks out for its own enlightened self-interest and expects other countries to do the the same. Not every man for himself, alliances built on pragmatism and regional interests, Iran, Hezbollah, Russia, Syria and China on one axis, Israel and Gulf States on another. Unlike some, I consider the Israel / Gulf State axis a true alliance because it it voluntary and built on perceived common interests.
Donald Trump failed the test
I laugh at his downfall. He used GWB era coercion to coerce other countries to obey Mordor based on an ideological crusade against Iran and ‘socialism’. I spit on him. He paid lip service to ‘nationalism’ but did not recognize or even understand the right of other countries to exert it. Yes, he gave a fine speech after he was nominated but his actions ran counter to what he said.
We put too much stock in who is President. I’m just playing solitaire waiting for the inevitable implosion of my country. There will be no savior.
@Christian J. Chuba
‘GWB era coercion’
Sorry Christian I cannot see a ground invasion of two seperate countries in the current term.
By GWB era, I was referring to the fake 43 member coalition of galley slaves. I’m certain most of them (other than the deranged U.K.) were coerced. Trump continued that tradition by getting 65 (or whatever) countries to recognize Guaido as President of Venezuela and forcing Europe, India, Japan, and S. Korea to observe the U.S. trade embargo against Iran. Even Russian companies abandoned w/Iran, including the one needed to keep JCPOA compliance.
U.S. unilateralism = globalism because it crushes the will of smaller countries and Trump loved doing that.
Trump replaced Esper w/Miller and is freezing Biden’s team out of security briefings so he may very well be planning a large bombing attack against Iran on his way our the door. His parting give to Bibi and the Evangelicals appealing to his narcissism.
‘planning a large bombing attack against Iran ‘
I think that is projection. I think that is what Biden would do if at all possible.
He is planning on invoking the Insurrection Act when the Supremes flip the election back to Trump.
The Tussle in America is between the Globalists and the Nationalists, The Globalist Forces represent the Power of Oligarchic Money, the Oligarchy’s predilection for Social Engineering, and their desire for the ‘One World government’ a government the Man with the most Money will control,
You ‘Own’ the people you can Socially Engineer, you own the people you can perform medical procedures on against their will! The Nationalists represent Humans innate desire to live a life founded and informed by Instinct and and therefore representing Natures Way, and not to live in the Socially Engineered insanity the Oligarchs and their narcissistic whims are now creating!
How will it all play out? Who knows! What we do know is that there are people all over the World who have had enough of the Social Engineering, the Socially unlivable World and the hideously damaged people it is creating!
Insanity comes and goes, it moves through Human minds in peaks and troughs, like the waves on the Ocean usually calm and benign but occasionally a storm comes and Ships founder and people die, is a storm coming?
I do think there may have been ‘Cheating’ a bit of cheating is nothing new, but what will have changed when Joe wins, and he will win, is that (Almost) everyone will know he is a fraud, this knowledge alone has no power but combine that with the idea many had when they voted, that they were voting for the return of the Obama era, as they remember it, which is to say as it never was, well there maybe a ‘bit’ of frustration in the future!
Personally I like Trump, because I ‘Like’ him I’m glad he won’t be to blame or blamed for what comes next, was he perfect, perhaps not, did he mean well? I think he did! Anyway all the best to everyone!
I like your comment 👍
“The meaning that these elections will change nothing, has to be abandoned”.
I think there is a small translation error here. The German “Meinung” is more like “opinion”.
“The hatred organized against Trump was just monstrous. The reason for this hatred was never really clarified”.
If you read “The State” by Randolph Bourne (especially, if in a hurry, the last 4 or 5 paragraphs), I think you will see a most satisfactory – indeed perfect – explanation.
Bourne explains how the system was rendered almost watertight back in the 19th century by arranging for the presidential candidates to be appointed by the two party committees – the DNC and the RNC. With that safeguard in place, they could extend to franchise to anyone and everyone. The masses could vote as they pleased, because whichever candidate won would be equally acceptable to the powers that be – the real owners of the USA and its government.
Until Trump! He did an end-run around the whole political machine, so that he became almost as resented by the Republican Party as by the Democrats.
For Trump to become President once was (to paraphrase Disraeli) a disaster; any reptition would be a catastrophe, proving that even when both parties were lying in wait, locked and loaded, Trump could STILL burst through their ranks and win. That might herald the destruction of the whole American political system.
He is not hated emotionally – except by the saps who believe what they are told by the media. He is in the way, and must be got rid of by fair means or foul (probably the latter). He is in a similar position to lucky chance visitor who breaks the bank at a casino and then goes whistling off without a care in the world (and his pockets stuffed with $100 bills). Soon enough he will have an “accident”, which will be discreetly publicized so that no one else is tempted to try the same thing again.
@Tom Welsh
That might be the reality to the elites but it is not the reality to the people.
Lets clarify something – the EU isnt “the West” – they are the Old World whose leaders live in the past and behave the same.
The West is USA Japan Canada Australia NZ HK Sth America and maybe UK and a few other countries maybe India too. It is all the countries of the New World.
Those in the EU dont understand people in the (true) West dont see themselves or behave like those in the old world – and that is the problem. A classic example is the people in Quebec dont see themselves as French but North Americans who speak French.
The EU can also classified as the Centre – as its the interface between West and East. And then now theres a argument whether Russia, Ukraine etc is classifiable as the East. The East is socialist Asia.
The EU has been trying to control and push the US into pandering to its agenda for 200 years and thru Trump the people have said no thanks – had enough of that.
Americans know they are being ripped off by the EU and their pushing the globalist barrow and UN and that why they put Trump in. All EU wants to do is access US mkts and sell stuff into it and run the US into debt – same with Sth America and Africa.
There is a large cultural divide between the West and the EU.
The US doesnt exist to be a market and cash cow for the EU.
Trump is neutral+ on EU.
But the problem arises because the EU is trying to takeover Russia and move east and needs a running dog to help do so. And thats the underlying gripe as well as trade issues.
Not sure how the UK, Japan, Hong Kong and India can be considered part of the ‘New World’. From what I gather the term ‘Old World’ refers to Africa, Asia and Europe.
Big if true. All this time I’ve been told that the EU itself was a lackey of the USA much like its member states; was I mistaken?
> All this time I’ve been told that the EU itself was a lackey of the USA much like its member states; was I mistaken?
I think that unpriviliged people in EU and US observe the same:
1) body political is insulated from them and in their names is pushing globalist agenda
2) so does “free media” body
People of EU say “USA is American body politic. EU is us European people occupied and abused by EU body politic”
People of US say “EU is European body politic. US is us American people occupied and abused by US body politic”
It is the same idea but mirrored.
Then they observe that US and EU body politic are mostly one and the same globalist blob.
People of EU say “EU is us European people occupied and abused by US/EU body politic. We are made slaves to USA”
People of US say “US is us American people occupied and abused by EU/US body politic. We are made slaves to EU”
It is again the same idea but mirrored.
What should come next is US people lead by their US body politic in a fight against EU to liberate them from EU cabal. And equally EU people should be led by their EU body politic into a liberating war against US.
Would they be on the same continent, would it be not for a huge ocean makign it absurd – they would already be pitted into WW3.
And the Swiss are just a bunch of yoddlers who make a few watches and have ski resorts who facilitate most the tax evasion round the planet. Have not much credibility.
And with less EU sales to US the amount of money flowing thru them is less – no wonder they dont like Trump.
In the Anglo context, I think you are being too pessimistic in thinking that the New World Order has a chance of survival. As we enter the usual flu season, COVID 19 is increasing rapidly in the Northern hemisphere, as would be expected. Surfaces such as vehicle door handles carry a surface layer of moisture, and COVID 19 particles are held together by hydrophobic forces acting on the coat protein. Consequently surface contamination will last much, much longer, especially as the days get shorter and much less photolysis (the other main route of denaturation) takes place.
Whatever the eventual outcome of the legal shenanigans, Trump will have proved to the satisfaction of all reasonable people that the American electoral system is so utterly corrupt as to be not fit for purpose. He should concede when it is inescapable that the election was fraudulent, leaving Biden’s minders in charge as the shit hits the fan (perhaps literally, if the reports of COVID 19 affecting the intestinal tract are correct).
Americans are already twice as sick at all age cohorts as their English cousins (M. L. Martinson et al., Am. J, Epidemiology, issue of March 9, 2011), yet the National Health Service costs half the proportion of GDP the US system does. The cruel deceit of Obamacare (if you do not have medical insurance, you are fined $1000 through your taxes, but any medical insurance you can buy for $1000-2000 is so hedged about with deductibles and restrictions as to be worthless. Obamacare is essentially a gabelle (the compulsory salt purchase in pre-revolutionary France), whose beneficiaries are medical insurance companies rather the Societe General. We can expect hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans at death’s door being taken, possibly against their will if they have dependents, to for profit-hospitals, where they will be grossly overcharged for not-particularly effective treatments. There will be millions of personal bankruptcies, which in some utterly shameless kleptocracies like West Virginia have already started. The combination of a starving and desperate population, a plague, and an illegitimate ruler is the classic recipe for a genuine (achromatic) revolution.
The situation in Britain is completely different: there is no question of mass personal bankruptcies through medical costs, and the NHS, after a few false starts, managed the first COVID 19 wave quite well. Nonetheless, the “woke” have convinced themselves that Trump and Johnson are identical, equating a former editor of the world’s oldest weekly review (The Spectator, founded in 1828) with a New York realtor and reality TV star, even if both Trump and Johnson were successes in their chosen careers. The bullying comments from the Biden camp (probably effectively Obama, whom Johnson has described as “the most anti-British US president ever”) about a change to the Brexit leaving arrangements, which would otherwise have empowered the EU to restart the IRA terrorism campaign, were initially met with capitulation. However after Lindsay Graham’s interview with Fox News, Johnson changed tack and the safeguards were reinstated.
The big problem in the UK is with the current leader of the opposition Labour Party, Keir Starmer, and his minions, who are ruthlessly supported by the MSM. Jeremy Corbyn was a real socialist elected by the grass roots of the party, and in the initial stages of the COVID 19 epidemic acted as an advisor to Johnson (Labour pointed out that the self-employed were excluded from the initial draft of the income support scheme during lockdown, and this was remedied, with thanks, by the Johnson government). However, Corbyn had made the mistake of publicly recognising that Palestinians were people too, and so he was targeted by the Zionazis in in a really vicious Labour leadership struggle. The outcome was Starmer, a loathsome, evil reptile with a tribe of in-laws in Israel. He had been a human rights lawyer, and was part of the Blair government when it dismissed its chief scientific advisor, on the grounds that his advice contradicted government policy!
That he has no idea of science or truth was shown again after the NHS reported that, of the 10 consultants (senior doctors, specialists) who had by then died of COVID 19, 7 were black. Consultants get six-figure salaries, so the data was particularly clean in eliminating racist deprivation as a cause, but there were plenty of suggestions that defective calcium metabolism increased susceptibility to COVID 19. The biosynthesis of Vitamin D, which regulates calcium metabolism, involves opening of a six-membered ring of a steroid, such that the carbon atoms which form the ends of the new chain rotate in opposite senses. The reaction requires light, and if sufficient light does not get through the skin, eventually rickets results. This has been known for over a century, and the British Isles, at high latitude with a cloudy oceanic climate, had a such a high incidence of rickets in the past, that in Russian, rickets is known as the “English Disease” (angliiskii bolyezn’). Obviously, if skins are dark, let alone black, the problem is greatly worsened, but it would have been easy to arrange sessions in tanning studios in winter (their quiet period), for people with dark skins, if the link could be confirmed. But Starmer took up the woke WWR-EAE (wicked white racist explanation of absolutely everything) meme, and an idea that could have saved perhaps thousands of black and brown lives in the forthcoming second wave, was discarded in pursuit of woke.
Finally, a small point about the Luegenpresse in Europe. In Finnish, “kamala” means “awful, dreadful”: one regularly hears “Ai, kamala” from groups of Finnish matrons having coffee: it is pretty much the same as “Oy, veh” from groups of Jewish matrons. It is therefore a common word, and in addition to the 6 million or so native Finnish speakers, is probably known to another 10 million or so Europeans and a few hundred thousand Americans. Nowhere, but nowhere, have I seen this mentioned in the MSM!
That comment about the meaning of “Kamala” in Finnish is pretty idiotic. In any case, the spelling of the name is a bit of hindutva eccentricity. It’s pronounced like the English verb “come” plus lah. And why would the world be suppressing your delicious news? There are many more speakers of Oriya than Finnish. Suppose “wiganer” meant diseased reproductive organ in Oriya. Would we have been robbed of this knowledge by the Saker if it wasn’t given with your name?
Well, spelling the good lady “Cumla” creates its own problems. Eurocrats mock UK Foreign Minister Dominic Raab for his surname, close to “turnip” in Dutch (It is in fact Yiddish, from High German Rube, also meaning “turnip”. Raab’s father, aged six, was on one of the last Kindertransporte out of Prague. As an adult he vehemently rejected his Jewish identity around the time of the Zionist terror atrocities against UK personnel; his son has worked for Palestinian rights). If the Empire can mock political opponents for their surnames, which they can’t help, why is it “idiotic” to mock the Empire’s minions for their given names, over which they have more control?
International marketing organisations spend much effort ensuring product names are not obscene or derogatory in the languages of potential customers (the urban legend is that the putative Rolls-Royce Silver Mist of the 1960’s was caught only just in time, “Mist” being German for “turd”). Harris’ parents were high-flying academics; particularly her father, who was an economist for whom “Finlandisation” in the context of the Cold War would be familiar. It is not unreasonable to expect them to ask international colleagues over a beer whether the child’s name in Hindustani meant something unfortunate in the languages of developed countries other than the US. It is even more remiss of Harris herself not to use a nickname or second given name which doesn’t have this problem. In 1992, when Finland joined the EEC, the French politician Charles Pasqua changed the pronunciation of his surname from the French “Paska” back to the original Italian “Paskwa”, since “paska” means “shit” in Finnish. If a second rank Gaullist Catholic Fascist has to do this because of the EEC, surely a lady who has aspirations to lead the “free world” should do similar things?
To return to the subject of the thread, your mention of “Hinduthva” and ?your own mother tongue Orida raises the question about whether Moti’s India, rather than the US Deep State, is most advanced in the imposition of finance Fascism. The planned obsolescence of high denomination banknotes (so that the more prosperous and enterprising amongst peasant farmers (“kulaks” in Soviet terminology) had to walk tens of miles to a bank, in great danger of being robbed, to change the life savings which had given them some security against moneylenders, suggests something similar to Stalin’s liquidation of the kulaks is going on. Is Moti even trying to cull the lower castes, as the requirement for landless labourers to return to their home villages in overcrowded buses, carrying COVID 19 with them, suggests? Is the subdivision of Hindustani into different dialects such as Orida a plot to confine the lower castes to low-ranking jobs which do not need English? Why is Modi changing the English transliterations of place names which have been in place for 400-500 years (Bombay, Calcutta etc), other than to make dysfunctionalising nationalist assertions – even Stalin did not require Moscow to be called Moskva in English? (The Chinese changes – Peking, Beijing – are functional, since Chinese has a logographic script, and Chinese word-processing works with a qwerty keyboard into which the Pin-Yin word is typed. A vast computer program then gives the operator many choices of character; obviously, you have to use Pin Yin rather than traditional English forms of place names, or the computer says no).
A “Pyrrhic victory for the West”. In what way ? The US is a divided nation, with more than 50 % of the voters backing Trump. The West has won nothing. Even the election winner in the US has not as yet been announced.
“In Western Europe (I live in Switzerland), the mood was probably even more anti-Trump than in the USA. European leaders like Merkel are now quite enthusiastic”.
Enthusiastic for what ? For the arrival of neocon warmonger Biden to the White House, so that he could provoke a conflict with Russia ? I think not. And yes, Europe may not have been happy with Trump, like demanding that EU countries contribute more to NATO and trying to prevent the construction of the Nord stream – 2 gas pipeline. However, this does not mean that Europe is anxiously waiting for the arrival of Biden. Far from it.
“Enthusiastic for what ?”
Enthusiam of some “authors” for binary thinking and the framing of good guys/bad guysness with or without the benefit of hats in signalling, to facilitate their continuation in the echo chamber markets.
The notion of undivided aggregates/agreegates and the “original” sins of non-conformance – a house divided against itself cannot standness – a “divided nation”.
An illustration of the remaining enmazement in “We the people hold these truths to be self-evident”.

The true reason why they hated Trump so much was based on fact: Trump has been the most pacifist U.S president since WW2 (Carter comes near, likely because aftermath of Vietnam era). Unforgivable sin truly.
Just think about RNC going back to “good old” Bush Country Club after Trumpism. No way. There is always that foolish false belief “going back to normal times”. Instead Trumpism was just the beginning. If you use just one minute thinking about future demographics you’ll certainly understand that there is no return to old one. And the same with Europe. The old cohesion has died out. There is card counting going on even if casino watchdogs are trying kick out counters. Unfortunately for the western people, illusions of their leaders, or their desperation, continued unchecked. The 2020 have been a catastrophe for West. In 2021 not only we will see carnage continue; it would get much worse.
