Whether you supported the 20-year war in Afghanistan or not, if you are American, you paid for it. Two Trillion Dollars. Your personal tax tab is 7 thousand dollars.
If you sent a relative or friend into this horror in South Asia, you paid an emotional price also.
If your relative or friend lost his or her life, you paid again, most grievously.
If you are one who returned, PTSD is taking a toll on your life. You pay every night and day, psychologically.
If you came back with traumatic wounds, you pay each moment as you try to rehabilitate and recover.
And with all these payments and losses you sit in front of a TV or monitor and watch the most feckless, incompetent leadership on the face of the Earth. You see total disorder, amateur thinking, and disgraceful performance of State Dept. and US Military. The top command and elected officials, the top counselors and advisers, each and every one clueless, ignorant, flummoxed by reality. They know nothing and can do nothing. Yet, they lead the country.
If you are fond of NATO, the alliance just took a huge hit. So, the 75 years of unity and the 20 years of joint operations in Afghan are tossed away unilaterally. NATO is fracturing. They know Biden is a fraud and the US is aimless.
You finally hear from the President of the United States, the reasoning that was the policy and follow through. It makes no sense. The old man is irrational.
Day after day this continuing catastrophe you see the same imbeciles prove over and over that they don’t know how to think, organize, lead or inspire.
Admiral John Kirby spokesman for the Defense Dept., Ned Price spokesman for State Dept., Jan Psaki spokeswoman for the WH, all of them know nothing, have no facts to report, seem bewildered by simple questions.
Listening to Jake Sullivan, NSC explains, is more naïveté and kindergarten-level thinking.
Mark Milley and Lloyd Austin are a quiniela of incompetence, both are lost in Critical Race Theory and too busy to win a war, command an evacuation, secure billions of dollars in lethal weaponry or answer a simple question with believable facts. Two Four-Star Dumb and Dumbers.
These dolts cut off the US government pipeline for the citizens caught inside Afghanistan, their lifeline to the State Dept. and consular staff has gone just when they need them. These jackasses sent off all the resources their citizens needed for evacuation.
They inadvertently point blame to the Clown-in-Chief Biden, who reflexively blames Trump for the policy Biden created.
Then the inept US military took six days to bring in 7000 troops to work security at the airport. These troops, they told us, were pre-positioned and ready to go. Another massive failure of military logistical performance.
There are more days of this until the artificial deadline on the 31st. The odds are there will be 20-30,000 Americans and Afghanis who worked for and with our military left behind. This is totally unacceptable. They will become hostages to Taliban authorities.
The only good result of this debacle is it hurts Biden politically and makes a change in the Congress much more likely in 2022.
Biden’s Kabul is worse than Ford’s Saigon and Carter’s Tehran. And it is far from over.
As a citizen, you are embarrassed, ashamed, insulted, depressed, left helpless, enraged, and damn angry at the juvenile operational disaster in plain sight at Kabul airport.
Biden and Harris should be impeached. The entire NSC staff should be fired. The JCS chief and the JCS staff and the SOD should be fired. The State Dept. from top-down to consular staff should be fired.
It is their turn to pay for this national embarrassment, geopolitical disaster, and human tragedy.
Your second to last paragraph is the money shot. But it won’t happen. Incompetence and mendacity are rewarded in this upside down society.
Agree. They might all get the Medal of Freedumb for their efforts.
The US never had a right to enter the country. They destroyed thousands of innocent Afghani lives, homes, infrastructure. They lied about why we went to war there, neglecting the true evil that brought us 911, Saudi Arabia, Israel and our own government. The Americans that went along to help destroy Afghanistan, went for the dollar. Private contractors did too. They went for the big money. And the Afghanis that assisted the invaders are responsible for thousands of their own citizens deaths.
And oh how the cries of our MSM lament the terrible situation the invaders and traitors are facing now. But never do I hear them sorrowful for the lost lives of the Afghanistan people.
Yes Biden and the US has botched this escape. But my heart is with the Afghanistan people that stay and want to rebuild their country.
And that goes for my brothers and sisters in Palastine, Syria, Iraq,Iran, the Donbass, Yemen, Lebanon, Cuba, Venezuela and many many more that truly resist the evil doers.
Your right mr Kalchain. The Americans went along for the dollar and were supposed to feel sorry for them if they came back injured. They should never have been there. And most of those who assisted the American invasion also did so for the dollar. If we need to show sympathy for someone then how about a little sympathy for the empires victims – Victims like the Syrian arab army of the starving kids of Yemen
This is totally unacceptable. They will become hostages to Taliban authorities……
These contractors who were busy committing atrocities and crimes against humanity? Would you clarify how it’s unacceptable for them to not get out of Af-stan? They’re paid a half a mill a year and didn’t have an exit strategy? They’re killers for pay and I’m supposed to pay for it? They should pay and pay dearly for this extended military adventurism and pork sword waving on the world stage. A good karma way to do that, is be a hostage. It would be the only reality they’ll ever see in their Hollywood lives.
The whole article is great except this one concept which is completely state department material. I don’t give a F about them and they can rot for all I care.
Dear Abdullah Goldberg:
Your point is very well taken. Exactly why is Larchmonter so a worried that these collaborators would be taken “hostage” to the Taliban? After WWII many collaborators were punished and some even executed as was the Norwegian traitor, Vidkun Quisling. The Taliban claim they will not seek vengeance and that may well come true, which means that many mercenary “contractors” will get away with enormous blood on their hands.
Now look at the phrase, “As a citizen you are embarrassed, ashamed, insulted, enraged and damned angry…” That’s quite untrue. I am greatly relieved that my country is no longer killing people in Afghanistan. In fact I am joyous over it.
But in this there is a lesson in propaganda. Really effective propaganda will contain much that is either acceptable to the reader or obvious truths, and then interject something the propagandist wants the reader to believe. In this case the interjection encourages the reader to have sympathy for those mercenaries who assisted the Anglo-American cause. I’m glad you noticed the cleverly introduced propaganda.
Possible fates of abandoned US contractors include
1. Execution
2. Impunity ie.”Getting away with it”
Or
3. Joining the other side (eg Russia or China)
This is what happened with General Friedrich Paulus, who was left stranded by Hitler during the siege of Stalingrad. He was captured by the Soviets, joined their cause and assisted them in the establishment of E. Germany and also testified against the Nazis at Nuremberg.
In any case, it reflects very poorly on the US military to have left these people behind and it could come back to haunt them.
After WWII the western democracies” disgraced themselves by making so-called “collaborators” pay for the cowardice of those who did not resist Hitler – which is the vast majority of Europeans
Also
Afghan “collaborators” are human beings.
Also, most pious people realize that “one soul is more precious than the universe”. That also includes sinners.
Ever heard of repentance?
Mercy?
Finally
A lot of the ones killed now are innocent anyway
Vengeance belongs to God
Not to humans
Don’t they teach you that?
One could argue “an eye for a eye” is a right and “pardon” is a choice. And if Vengeance belongs to God so does Mercy.
It must also be noted that submitting to an overwhelming force is not the same as actively collaborating with the invader to better oneself at the expense of others. Besides, from one is reported on this very site, the Taliban don’t seem to do much killing at this stage.
One could argue “an eye for a eye” is a right and “pardon” is a choice. And if Vengeance belongs to God so does Mercy.
One indeed could, but based on what?
Direct personal discussions with God?
Personal insight?
I was quoting Scripture, you interpreted it.
When I need to understand the meaning of a Scriptural quote, I can turn to the Fathers who DID have personal direct experience of the Uncreated Energies of God and whose personal holiness also gave them a sober, clear, understanding of these issues.
I rather defer to them.
submitting to an overwhelming force is not the same as actively collaborating with the invader to better oneself at the expense of others
Agreed. Also, the US/NATO was the biggest provider of jobs in Kabul. Working for the Great Satan is sinful and bad, but did these people really have a choice?! Did they not have kids to feed?
from one is reported on this very site, the Taliban don’t seem to do much killing at this stage.
Oh I am confident that blood is freely flowing, not only in Kabul, but also in otherwise “ignored” parts of Afghanistan. First, the Taliban are Deobandi-Takfiri nutcases. And, second, after 20 years of oppression by one side, revenge is not God-pleasing or moral, but it is probably inevitable due to our fallen human nature.
“One indeed could, but based on what?”
Based on justice I would venture. The Talibans did proclaim, If I remember correctly, that they offer amnesty to all except those that committed crimes who will be judged. I dare assume it involves a criminal court. Depending of course on their definition of crimes, it seems a fair enough proposition. Now I hate to “speak” on other’s behalf, but it appears to me that the people Leif Johnson and Abdullah Goldberg refer to are the criminal ones.
Just to be clear, I wholeheartedly believe as you do that compassion is by far the better way (although I’m not certain I’d remain so inclined if I were the victim), but I also recognize that it must be a choice or else it cannot qualify as such. And in the absence of compassion, justice is the next best thing. So I believe these two gentlemen have a valid point. After all not all humans have the fabrics of Saints.
On a another note, I’m intrigued, you mentioned you were confident blood was freely flowing. Till this morning (just read the Taliban were attacked in a province outside Kabul) according to the “credible” sources I came across (Russian Ambassador, Pepe Escobar,…) all seemed reasonably peaceful lately. Am I missing something?
I agree with others here that the US never had any legitimate reason to be in Afghanistan killing the people there in the first place. Seems like the lessons we supposedly learned from Vietnam have all been totally forgotten. What goes around comes around. This includes for soldiers who joined the military knowing they would end up going there. I do not wish such soldiers any ill will at all. But getting caught up in the consequences of one’s own foolish decisions is not injustice. It is a form of divine justice. As Jesus put it, reaping what you sow. I hope all the Americans do eventually make it home. But if any need to learn lessons about letting others live their lives without being attacked, then maybe this is a good opportunity for them to do so. God knows the situation of every single person (on all sides of every conflict). And He will intervene and show mercy where it is called for. I trust his judgement.
Vengeance, is a dish best served blind, I guess!
Vengeance is not a dish, it is God’s prerogative
Schadenfreude.
But look on the bright side. Uncle $cam could have hung on even longer, wasted even more of his people’s blood and treasure.
I met an Austrian in Switzerland who told me, “We are much happier now that we don’t have that Empire hanging around our necks”.
And needless to add, Afghanistan is much happier now that they don’t have the Empire of Chaos hanging around their necks.
Biden just lost the US Military and US Intel Community with a hare-brained news conference.
It gets worse each day as Sleepy Joe defies reality and his ego and mental deficiencies compel him to believe his own misperceptions as truth. We call that schizoid in regular life.
He is a danger to the nation.
I expect he will be “retired” soon if this continues.
A massive move into the Oval Office soon will occur. Obama’s operatives will have to shuttle off and new agents put in place.
What is happening now is the journalists who served inside Afghan for these twenty years are calling out Biden. They know the truth of the Afghan reality which he refuses to accept.
Jennifer Griffin has been Pentagon-linked for 20 years and has long years there, since 1993. Lara Logan, another very experienced war correspondent says Biden is lying. Steve Harrigan who was there in the beginning went livid over what Biden is trying to sell.
Biden is on a slide top ready for the fall. He is getting sliced and diced on TV. When you lose the most dependable Pentagon reporters, your days are numbered.
“Biden is on a slide top ready for the fall. He is getting sliced and diced on TV. When you lose the most dependable Pentagon reporters, your days are numbered.”
But would it be a good outcome? In that case Kamala Harris would be a POTUS. I don’t get these developments anymore at all?
Only good outcome would be Trumps return, but to happen right now – that would need something truly extraordinary.
About Afghanistan, now it starts to leak (mis?) information about the similar scenario than Syria: US troops are not needed anymore because Taliban is controlled by the West, for the purpose to spread chaos and weaken Chinas and Russias efforts in the area etc.
I don’t doubt a moment that that’s been the plan B or C or D, for western intelligence agencies – as it seems that plan A didn’t work:
https://sputniknews.com/world/202108201083672370-putin-reportedly-rebuffed-bidens-push-to-put-us-troops-in-central-asia-amid-afghan-withdrawal/
But will alphabets succeed in it? Here’s interesting article about the topic, by Alastair Crooke:
https://www.geopolitica.ru/en/article/strategic-apocalypse-afghanistan-seismic-shift-years-making
thank you for the links prospeller. a minor quibble with alastair crooke, i think some of the entire woke wash, russiagate & the trump election fiasco occupied too much of the nation’s attention, not simply as a distraction bt to actually stop brain’s from functioning. i’m certain, as iran famously remarked when referring to trump, we are blessed to have a stupid adversary. i think russia/china/iran/syria/yemen/lebanon/iraq to some extent all consolidated & worked feverishly to get their ‘ducks in a row’. while many lamented putin’s not bombing the shit out of the demented empire, the axis of resistance worked patiently steadfastly, keeping to the goal & never allowing themselves to indulge in untimely reactions that would’ve risked the greater goal. this is keen sightedness is monumental, as monumental as the axis of evil’s complete loss of foresight, planning, staging, bt continually assuming their own self deceptions to be reality.
We need a fall guy, maybe a whole administration or congress, Uncle Joe would fill the bill.
Thing is, he’s such a transparent strawman, and very sickly one at that. Burning him down would be great fun, no doubt, but like a cheap sugar high, it would be over and done with in 20 minutes or less. Which is also why I think he might indeed being served up as a scapegoat here. He’s a loyal soldier who won’t give up the secrets, who’s also got one foot in the grave anyway. Like you say, perfect candidate, albeit for all the wrong reasons.
Yes it’s too soon.
Presidents are appointed to take the blame for everything that happens during their term, whether they actually had anything to do with the decisions involved or not. And Biden’s term has just begun.
If the globalists unleash the full fury of their media on him now there will be nobody left to blame for the next three years of their planned atrocities and abuses. My guess is that, as with Trump, they will try to maintain a 50/50 split of the US population. One side blindly loyal to Biden despite all his genuine blunders, and the other side wanting to hang him from the White House Menorah. Of course that sword dangling over his head will keep him docile and obedient to his CFR masters as they use him to destroy all remaining traces of national unity.
Only good outcome would be Trumps return,
does pisrael need any more favors?
this means the deeply un likeable and incompetent harris takes over or she is removed ala spiro agnew and nancy pelosi takes charge.
now contemplate them apples
Exactly. Larchmonter writes that Biden and Harris should be impeached and the whole administration should be fired, but to my understanding that’s impossible – as Democrats control Congress.
What we are looking at in real time is the facade of empire crashing down. There will never again be a ‘coalition of the willing’ doing Foggy Bottom’s bidding. There will never again be another Irak. There will never again be another Libya. There will never again be another Syria. There will never again be another Bosnya. There will never again be another Serbska. There will never again be another Kosovo. There will never again be another Maidan which swung back so hard and fast against SehSha she is still stunned and has no comprehension of what happened, why a small crowd of but 40.000 citizens removed SehSha’s carefully planned and financed dream of an American Black Sea Fleet based in Sevastopol. He who owns Sevastopol owns The Black Sea and the citizens of Sevastopol told SehSha ‘no way, this is our city, not yours. You want it, come and get it.’ And SehSha blinked.
Every single person I know in Germany is appalled but not surprised. Every single person I know in the rest of West Europe is is also appalled but behind their glove are laughing at the sudden and almost catastrophic fall of The Empire….and relishing every second of it.
SehSha will not fall tomorrow nor will it fall in a month of tomorrows, but now the facade is dropped and SehSha is shown for what it has become, not what it was in the apex of it’s culture 60 and 70 years ago but what it transformed in to in the last 30 years, a ravenous beast with no morals, no compass, no direction beyond looting what it could from who it could and don’t count the bodies because we don’t care.
Rest assured, neither Russia nor Katai will allow SehSha to disintegrate if for no other reason than not even Langley or Foggy Bottom knows where all their weapons are and under whose control, ergo even a cornered and grievously wounded and hideous beast is still dangerous to huge swathes of the dwellers of this rock hurtling through space.
But. It’s over, the empire is in it’s death throes and while still very dangerous, it’s done, and more’s the pity for that. What could have been, what for a short time was, what should be is no more and will never be.

I really like your first and last sentences and believe that I am in agreement with the whole tenor of your post. The last sentence seems to evoke how tragic the situation truly is…
(Thx Larchmonter 445, for a good overview of anger that should be prevalent now. The usual ‘Wir haben es nicht gewüßt’, ‘It’s all Trumps fault’ will not fly this time.)
That’s a very interesting insight, Auslander. It is new for me but I think you are damn right, that Russia and China cannot allow the USA to fall into an uncontrolled situation, if it’s not already, just to highlight this particular point.
[little sidebar: if I’m not mistaken, ‘Sehsha’ is a phonetically expression of the term in cyrillic ‘США’, which is Russian for ‘USA’. ‘Katai’ is a historical term for China.]
Here in Europe it is already really dawning what the hell we were doing there anyway. The story about ‘fighting terrorism’ is worn out, and more and more some others are popping up:
– Afghanistan borders oil/gas rich Iran in the west, and oil/gas needing China in the east, do the math.
– An enormous amount of unexploited Lithium in west-Afghanistan, so badly needed for our electronics – even more needed in the hallucinating control fantasy world of Davos.
– In full exploitation, the poppy fields in Afghanistan produce about 80% of the world needs for heroin, a guaranteed cash flow in the direction of a trillion dollars per year. In 2001 this had dropped significantly, I assume some phone calls from the City of London followed.
My guess is, that China, Russia and surrounding nations will establish as quickly as possible normal relationships with the Taliban, to get this anchored in the DC chaos that is there now. Europeans denying this situation out of a bad timed solidarity will miss the boat, again.
It is interesting to see the chaos in intelligence too. The French already took hundreds of their people out in June/July, so much of efficient intelligence sharing within NATO (though we cannot exclude arrogance/naivity/incompetence/egos or any combination of that).
What will happen in DC is anybody’s guess. Buckle up for a bumpy ride, while lots of government people who are dependent on the presence of Biden will stretch his presence as long as possible. Harris is even more incompetent, when she will be in the Oval Office I expect all the strings will be ‘secretly’ pulled in the basement by Obama. Fun part of this assumption, is that Obama is so vain that he is probably incapable of keeping this confidential for any longer than a very short time.
I’ll leave it to the Americans what to do with such a constitutional jabberwocky.
Finally, Auslander, there was quite some horrendous rain and storms in Crimea. I hope everybody is safe.
Cheers, Rob
Rob, you are correct, SehSha is the pronunciation of США, and since Russian is spoken here I’ve gotten in the habit of calling it that. Katai is also the term here for ‘China’, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything but ‘Katai’ hereabouts.
We got some fairly strong rains in this village a month and more ago but nothing serious, while at the same time Yalta and the South Coast got nailed to a cross, huge damage and some lives were lost. Why someone would allow houses and estates being built up the edges of the soup bowl Yalta is in is beyond me. Kerch in the east also got nailed, and in the last 10 or so days Kerch is flooded with huge rains, as is the western part of Krasnodar Krai across the straights from Kerch.
As for Afghan, any time you throw a brick in to a bucket of liquid cow droppings things tend to splatter in all directions. That is what is happening and the manure is still surging around in the bucket.
Auslander
Now the stage is set to attack Iran. As layed out by Maj Danny Sjursen(RET), READ Self delusion is cruelest of all. Afghanistan and Pakistan will be hit and run raidsville with uncle shitstain having PLAUSIBLE DENIABILITY.
“Day after day this continuing catastrophe you see the same imbeciles prove over and over that they don’t know how to think, organize, lead or inspire.”
Certainly correct with regard to the first three items listed: think, organize, lead. With regard to the fourth one — inspire — however, I would say that these imbeciles are in absolute flawless sync with the general US population and the Euro-trash. Imperialist oppression and coercion of foreign countries to prop up a decadent, wasteful lifestyle will always appear appreciably inspiring to the beneficiaries of this rules-based order, whether ‘woke’ or not. With the stunning defeat in Afghanistan along with China’s embrace of the country, the qualitiy of the imbeciles’ thinking, organization, and leadership suddenly stands out as a very serious liability. Not least since China, Russia, Iran, and a steadily growing number of countries in the Global South don’t have this problem.
What a cri de cœur, we hear you Larchmonter!
It seems that current US administration has left Joe Biden to face the music by all by himself…? Press Secretary Jen Psaki is on holiday and I haven’t seen any interview by Kamala Harris. I was expecting more damage control & PR…I guess the spin machine is reserved for getting into a war rather than getting out of one..?
To Serbian girl
“..the spin machine is reserved for getting into a war rather than getting out of one..” – not only reserved, it was CREATED for exactly that reason – inflicting wars and destruction all around the world. This evil enterprise of the so-called “Empire” is now coming to an end, as Auslander rightly expressed it. The World has just seen the grotesque, hideous, contorted by greed and evil, true face of this “Empire” – and shuddered in disgust!
As for dementia afflicted old man that has been installed into White House – that was done, once again, and as you astutely observed, for one reason – to carry the can – for everything that is unfolding right now, all around – not only in Afghanistan. This is just the beginning.
Biden has recently been quoted as stating htat his policy priorities are now the “three C’s:
China, Covid, and Climate.”
Mercy!
Who is going to clear out the slag heaps of BS in each of these stables?
‘It seems that current US administration has left Joe Biden to face the music by all by himself…?’
Yep. ‘Success has many fathers but failure is an orphan.’
I’m glad Dementia Joe is standing by the decision to end this ridiculous war. The State Dept and Pentagon have learned nothing and it is clear they are bound to start more wars before the US military is conclusively humiliated or the US state is bankrupted.
To DougDiggler
My dear Doug, the “Dementia Joe”, as you put it, does not make any decisions; as he famously told the press the other day – he gets his ass wiped. Literally. So, please rid yourself of any illusions there. As for US military being conclusively humiliated and US state bankrupted – this is not something yet to happen – it’s ALREADY happened!
“The odds are there will be 20-30,000 Americans and Afghanis who worked for and with our military left behind.”
That will be at least 10000 totaly disillusioned witnesses of the US military practices, personal feelings, most likely top secret intel of all kinds. Real trasure throve for Russian and Chinese inteligences.
No need for any pressure on them after betrayal those people experienced .
They are Biden’s scapegoats. He has blamed them for the rapid fall of Kabul and not providing more resistance to the Taliban.
As you say they probably feel very betrayed…
Peace.
(Hypothetical) checked on bucket item.
Interview broadcasted press tv from taliban side, one senior official, yesterday.
I listened… … tried to poke any hole in anything Taliban official may stumble up on,
My problem: I could not find anything wrong w what he said… his approach was spot on, he was always seeking a balance (it also helped that the interviewer was Iranian)
The combined US/NATO “military machine” couldn’t even corral 75,000 sandal-wearing, ak-47 wielding, rpg-toting and now Humvee driving and Blackhawk-flying mountain men!!!
And the 20 year long (cluster****)f-word (mil-ops)) that harvested countless innocent afghan lives and wasted USTaxpayer blood and treasure, that same “juggernaut” is now planning its next incursion???
I sometimes wonder if our Lord will show any mercy towards the US/NATO after all the idiotic carnage that has been perpetrated on this Earth. If a great pillar of fire comes crashing down on CONUS, please, don’t anyone be surprised!!!
Господи, помилуй нас грешных…
One could add add the other side of the coin to LM445’s opening paragraphs:
If you are an Afghani…….
Good piece, though more detail on the incompetence of the withdrawal would have been helpful to the non-military person.
One detail: It seems unlikely that Biden would have been down far enough into the weeds to have ordered that Bagram be vacated in the middle of the night, without so much as informing the Afghan military. If Biden knew about this at all, it would probably have been something recommended to him for approval or after the fact.
This is not to defend Biden’s competence. Not at all.
The point is to ask this:
Is it conceivable that the evacuation of Bagram was presented to Biden after the fact basically to block his order to leave Afghanistan? — sir, our main asset for an orderly withdrawal has already been handed over.
And he was just determined enough to do it anyway.
In any event, if you have a first in line to be fired, it has to be the most senior person to sign off on Bagram in advance.
Indeed, the Bagram desertion is inexplicable.
However, Seyed Mohammad in his thought provoking article on this blog makes the believable point that the US, in a fit of pique, did the equivalent of throwing over the chess board, and left Afghanistan in a way designed to cause maximum chaos. This is the only logical answer, assuming there is an answer.
I do find Marandi’s take very plausible, and doubt that the US has let go of the idea of shifting from maximum pressure to maximum chaos.
But as others have pointed out, the real key to chaos would have been ensuring that the military equipment caches fell into the hands of ISIS or AQ.
The couldn’t even do chaos competently.
@CDvision: “did the equivalent of throwing over the chess board, and left Afghanistan in a way designed to cause maximum chaos. ”
VVP’s described diplomacy with Uncle $cam, like playing chess with pigeon:
“He struts around, knocks over the pieces, shits all over the board, declares victory and flies off”.
Brilliant!
and prescient.
It does not surprise me that the presidency is not in control of the situation, regardless of Biden’s mental state: already in the Trump administration both the Pentagon and the security agencies even presumed to make decisions not only on their own but also in against the orders of the president …
The Americans could not win the war because it was not a war. It was a bloody armed robbery of the American people under the pretext of their protection from terrorism, spreading democracy (as a side effect) and helping their allies. Those trillions went back to America and NATO through MIC, PMC, subcontractors, etc … There is nothing left in Afghanistan. Except for a weapon that only serves to kill and nothing else. Nothing can be built with these weapons. Maybe some art installations. The American people spent a great deal on this war while the American “cream” earned very well. Afghans have the misfortune of being where they are. The story is very simple. And journalists are helpers in crime. And now they are asking stupid questions. Without the Taliban, America would not function for these 20 years. Now only strong enemies remain; Iran, Russia, China. How will the Pentagon spend huge billions of budgets now and where? If the Pentagon doesn’t spend them, it will get a much smaller budget next year. It must be admitted that it will not be easy for them to find a suitable enemy whom they will not have to defeat for the next 20 years.
The Americans could not win the war because it was not a war. It was a bloody armed robbery of the American people under the pretext of their protection from terrorism, spreading democracy (as a side effect) and helping their allies. Those trillions went back to America and NATO through MIC, PMC, subcontractors, etc …
Truer words were never spoken. I’d just add, beware a false-flag in the “homeland,” possibly in conjunction with the upcoming 9-11 festivities, to justify a re-escalation and/or rebranding of the “War on Terror.” These despicable MF’s will stop at nothing, so I don’t believe for a second that any of this is over.
The defense budget though listed as $800+B by GAO, it’s some where in the range of $2T if you include all the TLA. If that money don’t get justified the whole gravy train of govt workers, MIC, contractors and the fore collapse. This is a $2-3T economy that will not go down easily. Expect the money to “justifiably” spent.
Hammer, nail, hit. The ‘War on Terror’ in Afghanistan was first and foremost a big laundry scheme to fly back trillions of unaccounted for dollars to the usual ‘fat cats’.
What will happen now remains to be seen. ‘Saigon’ is mentioned regularly. I was a little kid then, but I can still remember flashes of day-to-day coverage on TV. I remember the angry reactions of my parents, who survived WW2. I remember some propagandic coverage of Marines, shooting and killing to take some stupid flag down. I remember the chaos of fleeing Saigon, the run for helicopters. I remember an interview with a bomber pilot, who tried to talk his conscience clean of many unknown victims of his actions with something like ‘those people do not cling to life so much anyway’. Society was quite divided in those days. It took the USA decades to fold that back.
I’m not so sure whether now this humiliation can be folded back so easily. I sense the USA as quite divided, but different, dynamics set into force to get rid of the unforeseen accident Trump, but now try to put the cat back into the bag. And that cute dollar stream is gone now. New ideas about ‘handling’ Taiwan or Iran? Don’t even think about it.
It might be that some new ‘Enemy’ will be created. It could be imaginable that it will be (at least a part of) the American people themselves. Fat cats never have enough.
Cheers, Rob
>>>Now only strong enemies remain; Iran, Russia, China.
I hear that Venezuela is crying out for Freedom and Democracy.
thanks Larchmonter 445 – I always read everything you write on the comment sections and its a real treat when you put up an article
I always take your word as knowledge.
Ann
Thanks for the kind remarks, Ann.
As a citizen, you are embarrassed, ashamed, insulted, depressed, left helpless, enraged, and damn angry at the juvenile operational disaster in plain sight at Kabul airport
Thank you Larchmonter for laying out the feelings of an American — I assume you’re an American — about the Hegemon’s handling of the evacuation of Americans and war dogs (the real thing, K9) out of Afghanistan.
I’m not an American although I was partly educated in the US. I’m a Rest-of-the-Worlder and I can only watch the spectacular ineptitude on display in Afghanistan with initial disbelief, and then with an increasing sense of glee at the complete disarray in Kabul and in DC. FUKUS/Nato abandoning their illegal Afghan enterprise and scampering out like rats — what’s not to be gleeful about? A very public humiliation served non-stop on mobile phones and living room TVs — and for those not under Covid lockdown — in offices, malls, restaurants and trains in RoW.
But the glee is tempered somewhat by a sense of utter disgust at the FUKUS/Nato act of betrayal towards their Afghan collaborators — news reports of Nato forces prioritising war dogs ahead of Afghans; UK diplomats refusing to let Afghan guards who had escorted them to the airport escape together with them; Afghan footballer falling to his death from the undercarriage of a C-17 — literally Afghans discarded like a used tampon. I shouldn’t be entirely surprised of course, looking at the treatment given to their highland collaborators in Vietnam all those years ago but still, the repeated betrayal grated. Semper Fidelis indeed.
Honour may be in short supply in Natoland, but not in the RoW and especially not among the people of Afghanistan where honour killings are not unknown. The Talibs are watching and thinking, well, they’ve just lost their honour and with it the respect of the vast majority of Afghans. Maybe, just maybe, they’ll stand solidly behind us now.
And maybe, hopefully, this moment marks the beginning of the end for the AZEmpire as alluded to by Pepe in his recent video interview.
@Stand Easy: “literally Afghans [ie, collaborators] discarded like a used tampon. I shouldn’t be entirely surprised of course, looking at the treatment given to their highland collaborators in Vietnam all those years ago”
Remember the warning by U$ Nobel Prize war criminal Kissinger: “To be a friend of the United $tates is dangerous”.
“To be an enemy of America can be dangerous, but to be a friend is fatal.”
Kissinger’s “prophecy” has some flaws. This sentence is true for weak and divided countries, like Afghanistan and stupid Ukraine. But not so true for Saudi Arabia and Israel.
9/11 and USS Liberty incident should’ve been enough to bomb the hell out of this countries. The not so brave beast [US Army] and the not so cleaver diplomacy (including Kissinger himself) are vulnerable not only by opposing forces, but by their “friends” too.
Don’t worry.
God is slow to anger, he’s not in a hurry to judge people. He generally gives people (and nations) plenty of time and opportunities and warnings to repent from their evil and change their ways.
But if all those opportunities and warnings go unheeded and the evil continues, eventually justice demands retribution in kind. And in such cases the judgement can be even greater than the original crime.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Nobody ever gets away with unrepented crime.
If they don’t repent in this life they will certainly pay the price in the next.
As ex-military from a family with lots of other military members current and past, I cannot but applaud Biden’s actions and am grateful the Trump Administration got the ball rolling. Without Trump this would not have been possible and Biden made a gutsy call that may cost him his life, if not the presidency.
I believe we will get out all our servicemen, and all the diplomats, too. If some contractors/mercenary/war profiteers get left behind to the tender mercies of the Taliban, the hell with them.
Since Biden comes from the war profiteering NeoCon camp and is a representative of corporate America and the military industrial complex, I am quite skeptical that he doesn’t somehow get us back into Afghanistan by hook or crook. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop.
If we are indeed getting out of Afghanistan, kudos to Biden and kudos to Trump for setting the stage.
That was an interesting opening paragraph, and yet even though there is no denying it, I think there should be an additional category to the economist tool bag.
And that category would be uncollectable debt, the only was the $7000 is paid is through higher prices, and that affects everyone who also owes the $7000.
This category could become a significant one in future economic calculations since the old book has been throwed through the window replaced by an electronic printing press and the unfunded liabilities that go with it.
Seriously now Mr. Economist, what do ya think.
Great piece Larchmonter, and I think your howl resonates with what the great majority of Americans are feeling today. Unfortunately, we both know impeachment ain’t gonna happen (and I’d suspect an ulterior motive/backhanded play if it did), but even if it did, it wouldn’t go nearly far enough. This entire fiasco has been twenty years in the making and was based on the mother of all lies – 9-11.
All of us Americans are, as you’ve hinted at here, knee deep in this massive historical cockup. Yes, we indeed paid for it monetarily and supported it with our youth militarily, but we also voted for it – or at the very least didn’t strenuously vote against it – through 6 administrations (counting Bush/Cheney and Obama/Biden twice each) up to and including the current cast of ass-clowns who were evidently selected for the honor of officially crapping the bed with this amateurish pullout and embarrassing us all with the utter futility and stupidity of this entire endeavor. Will we learn anything from this to prevent another fiasco just such as this from happening again sometime soon? Absolutely not. Not until the giant festering sore of 9-11 is completely opened and drained for all to see, with American and Israeli Zio-Nazi war criminals identified by name and served up to an international body to be prosecuted and made to pay dearly for their crimes.
And what better time for that to happen than right now on the upcoming 20’th anniversary of the greatest war crime of the 21’st century and the basis for nearly everything that’s wrong in the world today? The United States that we all think we once knew can never be healed until that happens, and humiliations such as this are just the very beginning of our national woes to come. We will continue spinning into the abyss – and the world will take great joy in our demise as we do – until it does.
Excellent comment, Disaffected!
I agree completely that the festering wound of 9-11 needs to opened and examined in detail. I would go even further and require the examination in detail of the zionist involvement in the murder of JFK and RFK. From that tragedy forward, the govt’s narrative on almost any subject, but most assuredly on war, has been built upon lies and more lies to cover up the previous lies.
I’ve seen a few articles calling for the accountability on the generals involving in selling this Afghan debacle with their lies that “we are turning the corner.” But the question becomes who is going to do the accounting: media, or the ball less eurnuchs in the uniparty in congress-none seem remotely likely.
An interesting aside: A large number of these lying generals are West Point grads, where the honor code was: “Cadet will not lie, cheat, steal or tolerate those who do.” These generals to include pompass have most assuredly been lying their ass off almost since their graduation, most clearly in the last few years.
If you are interested in researching in more detail, I have found the articles of Laurent Guyénot on UNZ to be informative and well researched. He flays Israel and the Zionists, justifiably so.
He has a new book out (avail on Amazon, strangely enough) on the Kennedy murders and does not spare LBJ, who inexplicably escaped serious scrutiny on these murders.
The forward is essential and captures my belief in total: that America lost grievously when they were murdered and it has never recovered:
quote:
“The Kennedys are important not for who they were as individuals, or even as a clan, but for what America lost when she was deprived of their leadership, again and again.”
Thanks and I agree with all your comments as well. The list of indictments against the entire DC financial and political class is now multi-generational. Might take decades to get to the bottom of it all if we ever get around to lifting the lid. The stench will be unbearable!
911, undoubtedly the greatest war crime in u$a, bt internationally i think the tribunal begins with the 2 nukes on japan.
“I agree completely that the festering wound of 9-11 needs to opened and examined in detail. I agree totally, and have often said this: that Dallas is the original sin of the current era.
Next question: When (if) the American people are forced to let scales fall from their eyes and acknowledge that TPTB lied to them over and over and over again, will it occur to the American people that TPTB might just be lying about a couple of other things, too? Such as our current “public health crisis”?
some chinese media is openly ‘educating’ their viewers that talib is not the ‘terrorist’ that caused 9one1. now billions of chinese (mostly young ppl) is asking, ‘then who sunk the twins?’ good Q hey?! why did they start the war on ‘terror’?! this is amerika?! and wait until they ask, ‘so there is no plane that hit no tower?!’ the young minds seek truth and wants answers. awesome!!! wipe your own s or get it wiped by someone else (and dont complain if it exposed, bleed or ripped off)
I totally agree with Saker that the world is dividing into Zone A and Zone B. Zone A is US/NATO. Zone B all the others. Right now all wars are by Zone A to loot and pillage Zone B. Trillions of dollars are there to be looted from Zone B if they can just murder enough of them, like they did for oil in Iraq, Syria, Libya etc etc etc
This is why Zone B is building up their militaries to defend themselves. Never before in history has a military buildup occurred that has not ended in war….As Thomas Hardy once said “You can do anything with bayonets except sit on them.”
The US ‘loss’ of Afghanistan is a repositioning and the new mission is not a ‘war on terror,’ but a war on Russia and China. A war The Empire will loose, that they know they will loose, but will fight it anyway.
For defense contractors war is a huge success. Win or loose they make a killing.
“I totally agree with Saker that the world is dividing into Zone A and Zone B.”
I don’t agree with you when you agree with Saker:) It will be even bigger than that – instead of dividing, I would say that the world is fragmenting.
Next step will be the division of “Zone B.”
As the Taliban Blitzkrieg went from success to success, I started re-reading Norman F. Dixon’s “On the Psychology of Military Incompetence” (a 1994 update is still in print). So far, the fourth Anglo-Afghan war seems to be following the same course as the first (1838-1842), which ended with the annihilation of Lord William Elphinstone’s force – only one white British soldier (a surgeon) and a handful of Indian sepoys made it back to British headquarters in Jalalabad from Kabul. Particularly ghastly was the fate of the “Camp Followers”, the families of the Indian sepoys (and some British officers – in 1842 it would not be the career-killing move it became later to take an Indian wife). Showing the same cruelty and misogyny as the Taliban, tribal irregulars did not kill women and children outright, but merely took away their clothes (it was winter, with snow on the ground, and many cases of frostbite). Elphinstone himself died in Afghan captivity a few months later.
The comparison with the fall of Saigon in 1975 made by the MSM is completely misleading, for geographical reasons. Saigon is quite close to the sea, and the US had at least one aircraft carrier close enough for helicopters to fly directly from the US Embassy – film of US sailors tipping helicopters into the sea, as there was no room for storing them, is another memorable picture. Vietnam is a long, thin country with an indented coastline, and many Vietnamese fled by boat. A more accurate parallel than the US in Saigon is the French in Dien Bien Phu in 1954. The debacle ended French attempts to regain its Indochina colony. Dien Bien Phu was a forward base in mountainous country a long way from the sea, foolishly established in a basin ringed by hills, on the mistaken premise that the Vietminh did not have artillery. They did, and once the guns were operational and capable of opening fire on the single airstriip, the French had no option but to surrender (an unwise option for NATO troops in Kabul). Within a decade the French overseas empire was gone.
Whatever the immediate outcome, Kabul means the end of the US empire, a historic moment like the battle of Poltava, which ended the Swedish Baltic empire, or the loss of the fortress city of Singapore to the Japanese in 1942, which ended the British Empire in Asia. Larchmonter is certainly right in thinking that the corruption and incompetence of the American state, and of the “weightless economy” (to quote Alan Greenspan) which supports it, is now inescapable to the US’s own population. A hopeful parallel might be disturbances like the 1905 revolution in Russia, after its Baltic fleet was sunk in 30 minutes at Tsushima, and Port Arthur (a Russian Singapore) felll to the Japanese. President Putin has suggested that the Tsar’s concessions (e,g, a Duma which could have become a proper parliament) might have made Russia a normal constitutional state, but for WWI. A less hopeful but more likely outcome might be a coup by Navy and Air Force officers installing a “technocratic” cabinet headed by a more controlled Donald Trump.
Great enjoyment watching American national embarrassment, geopolitical disaster and what not.
Can hardly wait for the next one. Kosovo? Syria?
@Mellote 22
Brazil, most likely. Bolsonaro is an incompetent fool for all the world to see. His sell-by date is long since past. Despised massively at home and abroad.
Ukraine and India are collapsing as we speak. And, with regard to India, the Empire’s massive defeat against the Muslim Taliban next door should have some ’interesting’ consequences.
The one specimen that needs to be taken out right on the spot is Erdogan, given his massive popularity at home (the opposite of Bolsonaro) and his nasty habit of uninvited scavenging.
I think the richer southern provinces would probably separate in case of civil war in Brazil. I don’t think though India will collapse. At least I see some differences regarding the situations
India is what gives the @op a boner. Without understanding the complexity of India and the various interactions that happen and have continued to happen between peoples there inspite of centuries of wars, plunders and dominations (inspite of it being 1/3 of world GDP just 3 centuries ago) and still getting along with some of the most cantankerous neighbours and maintaining a true representive democracy is something to be beholden.
However, the @op as someone who probably comes from one color, one god, one language, one culture country, no matter how well read you are, can never understand.
Every regime in the West is currently staffed by middle management incompetents. USA is the imperial centre of ineptitude leading vassal satellites into ridicule and impotence.
@Paul Greenwood
Excellent remark! And that is precisely what proves the crucial importance of national leadership quality. Zone A is a sick dystopia ruled by ”governments” dedicared to greed, corruption, sleaze, incompetence, and violence. Zone B has Russia’s and China’s top-notch national leaderships at the helm, and the world is feeling the vibes. The West’s ”hegemony” is a silly joke, greeted with richly deserved contempt and, most notably, defiance.
The finger-pointing, recriminations, and blame games of America and its Coalition crime partners in Afghanistan are pathetic as they are disgusting.
The whining is endless:
America’s stormtroopers were killed or injured for no reason.
America wasted trillions of dollars on Afghanistan with nothing to show for it.
America gave up its position in Central Asia to China and Russia—as if the USA has a moral right to be there in the first place, literally on the other side of the world.
America “lost” Afghanistan—as if it was an American possession to own to begin with.
America’s image as a “Force for Good” in the world has been (deservedly) shattered.
America has been humiliated.
Boo-hoo.
It’s all about America and the self-serving Pity Party that this war criminal nation is throwing for itself.
The real issue however is that America waged a war of aggression against Afghanistan based on the Big Lie called the Sept. 11th attacks—attacks that were likely an inside job orchestrated and executed by the United States itself, with help from its “democratic allies.”
As a result, America murdered tens of thousands of Afghanis; maimed and tortured God knows how many more; and further impoverished and destroyed a nation that was already decimated by war, which the USA was guilty of instigating with the 1980s jihad against the Soviet Union and its aftermath.
America–the self-appointed moral leader of the world–has no shame and certainly no moral authority.

Exactly. And, with regard to September 11, I can only re-iterate that it was a crucial test event. Just like Europe’s inbred Royal swine and scum of colonial genocidalists in the early 20th century, the Zionazis wanted to see for themselves that their ”home populations” wouldn’t stir up any problems to their sick and evil conspiracies, even at the expense of some exceptional, indispensable folks at the WTC and the Pentagon. Worked like a charm. If the Pindos had greeted the ”fireworks” with a massive Serves you right! and Too bad the Offal Office survived, does anyone believe for a frigging moment that the Zionazis would have dared unleash their premeditated carnage throughout West and Central Asia?
Starting wars and using sanctions for the sole purpose of domination constitutes a rogue nation.
If this rogue nation has lately imbeciles governing them, this will accelerate their fall, which I see as positive and will contribute to world peace eventually.
The US is a ‘paper tiger’ politically and economically and survives while there is the false perception of their political, military and economical “might”.
The taliban showed the emperor has no clothes.
As did Cuba surviving decades of sanctions and still remaining sovereign and independent.
As did China and Russia when they decided to choose their own destiny, away from Western diktats.
Cheers from France.
After reading this article and many others regarding the destruction and the killing of innocent civilian and children of Afagnistan, for no reason other than economic gains and surround and harass Russia, China, Iran, Pakistan and lndia (for later), we are now coming hard on the empire for abandoning their collaborators and facilitators. After seeing all of these atrocities, do we expect the sociopaths to grow conscious. Are we worried the image of the empire tarnished and won’t be able to recruit more traitors and collaborators or we feel sorry for the killer facilitators. Rest assured they will be able to recruit traitors and collaborators. They are both killers. The empire would have never invaded any country if they weren’t traitors and collaborators. Let them dig themselves out of the mess they are responsible for. Revenge and punishment collectively is God’s work, but surely I don’t want to encourage any future ignorants turn on their brothers and sisters and their neighbors no matter what the incentive is. Let the others learn and think before they kill and help killing. I wish some one would expand this point.

Well said. This is absolutely true, also here in Finland. Funny, I just met my neighbour on the street – he’s originally from ME – and we talked about this.
Enemy comes always within, biggest threat to Russia is not the West – it’s the fifth column inside the borders.
The Afghan puppet leader escaped with bagloads of money, it’s easy to understand where that money originally came from. This world is ruled by the power of money, and nothing will change before people start to obey God – instead of mammon.
Especially in the West people tend to think that they are free to choose whatever way of life they want – and to certain extent that’s true – but they don’t want to think that there will be always consequences, good or bad depending on which way they choose.
GGGeneral Mark Milley admitted that Afghan pilots flew several US aircraft out of the country.
They think they were flown to Uzbekistan or Tajikistan but they are not sure.<b(lol.what)
They also have no idea how many were taken.(again lol)
So. The US military has no access to flight radar, no gps tracking on its planes?
No access to satellites?
No spyware anywhere?
If I had twitter I’d DM ggggeneral Miley and tell him I have a bridge to sell.
chinese media already shown where are the planes on state news media like, i think, yesterday… am sure the rus and iran state media also show lots of stuff (not shown in your MSM)
No. It was success. They stole $2000 billion tax payers money. Huge success.
Haha, proves convincingly George W. Bush had a point as long as ”They” = the American taxpayers:
— They misunderestimated me.
“They will become hostages to Taliban authorities.”
Hostages and ‘guests’ in camps until the $9billion stolen (at least) is returned in hard gold ingots — even if they do have “Gaddafi” still stamped on them.
This mess is only just beginning.
What idiot American/European in situ did not see this coming?
Only themselves to blame, imo.
The US invaded a country for false reasons, and killed a lot of locals, using cowardly methods. No mention at all of that on this piece.
Just complains about money wasted and loss of power from the invader.
Like in the Vietnam War, Americans continue to complain about relatively minor losses from starting a war, invading a foreign country and killing people.
Americans continue to view themselves as superiors to other humans.
Why is there not a flurry of comments noting this very, very, very simple analysis on this unbelievable Unilateralist vision of the world?
“Biden and Harris should be impeached. The entire NSC staff should be fired. The JCS chief and the JCS staff and the SOD should be fired. The State Dept. from top-down to consular staff should be fired.”
Well, in theory, … in an ideal ‘normalised’ world.
However, ‘responsibility’ and ‘accountability’ went out the window 3-4 decades ago.
Otherwise this situation would not have evolved as it has.
Like with the global financial crisis (2007-2009, …) and that house-boy “I’m pretty good at killing” Obama — there is a disconnect between the talk and the walk. The question is, will the USA’s domenstic ‘taliban’ country folk rise up from their ‘deplorable’ rural backwaters and overthrow the gay rainbow-painted termite-infested wooden house that once was a viable country? Indications don’t look good. Unless they can turn off the TV’s, pull the plug on Rupert Murdoch’s propaganda machine, get down to the local town halls, and call in their own town sheriff’s then the America of the myth is long gone.
Here is something posted at MoA that is worth a read:
https://annebonnypirate.org/2021/08/17/afghanistan-the-end-of-the-occupation/
In my view, this is a far deeper crisis than just Euro-American empire retreat/collapse.
It is the start, across a far wider spectrum, of a fracturing to that core metaphor/myth that was challenged way back in the 1970’s under the title “Limits to Growth”.
It could have come to the surface at any point over the +/- 20 years. However, it seems to me the way this is being mishandled at the moment by this cohort of complete criminal fakes at the top across the western world (almost a generation thing) that you describe suggests that cold hard reality is likely to win out this time round.
Look at the psycho-drama under way since 2020. Influenza has dissappeared. Bullied school kids, women, and eunuchs running around as if they were living in a Wahhabi Saudi Arabia. Males under self medicated chemical castration ‘therapy’ in the name of some bogus postmodern theory BS. Natural immune system capacity in the basement. Zero $interest on any modest middleclass savings. Hyper inflation about to eat the rest. Nothing adds up. The plutocrats raiding the fiat Fed as if there is no tomorrow (except for them). Something is going on — and at far higher grade of deceit than ye olde “9/11” (2001, or 1973).
If Afghanistan (retreat) signals the end of empire (British, USSR, American) then one can only hope the American people can wake up, before it is too late, and get their country back.
I would not put money on it, atm.
A house very much divided …
” Nothing adds up. The plutocrats raiding the fiat Fed as if there is no tomorrow (except for them). Something is going on — and at far higher grade of deceit than ye olde “9/11” (2001, or 1973).”
Catherine Austin Fitts calls this “something” (or says that it called by those executing the strategy) “Going Direct.”
Going Direct is very well explained by John Titus in “Larry and Carsten’s Excellent Pandemic.”
“Going Direct” means eliminating the “commercial money circuit” and replacing it with the the “wholesale money circuit.” Whereby the Fed, Blackrock, and a few other players will feed money directly into the retail economy and replace cash with Central Banking Digital Currency, CBDC. And gain total control.
See Larry Fink explains why he prefers totalitarianism at ca. 3:13.
“Going Direct” means eliminating the “commercial money circuit” and replacing it with the the “wholesale money circuit.”
In other words: transition to a global socialism. Congratulations, you won your class war!
Amen. Most of them don’t care about you loosing a limb or two or forever tormented with PTSD after one’s deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan. Most would say thank you for your service for our country, i.e., for big pharma, MIC, etc. Making money for mafia is the most important thing for the USSA and one’s life ruined does not matter. Now you are terrorists if you say bad against the USSA and helping to incite revolt among ‘far-right,’ ‘anti-vaxxter’, ‘anti-government’ extremists with Russian, Chinese, Persian Influences. Just read the recent the Department of Homeland Security’s recent memo. See:https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/ntas/alerts/21_0813_ntas_bulletin_all-sectors.pdf. You get the picture. I just want to add to Larchmonter445 to the last two sentences that he wrote, which I whole heartly agree: Put them in the guillotine, electric chair, firing squad, etc. I do not care and they deserve it.
Wow! Empire of Paranoia!
I love this:
“Such threats are also exacerbated by impacts of the ongoing global pandemic, including grievances over
public health safety measures and perceived government restrictions”
“perceived” government restrictions?
American citizens are just imagining restrictions!
And just imagining “restrictions” in Melbourne, France, Germany, and elsewhere.
And wondering how long before American police and sheriffs will be force-vaxxing them on Main Street, USA.
Americans are “imagining” that the govt is raving about vaccine passports.
American citizens seem to be off their meds.
The govt is doing no such thing!!
Americans who are against imperialism should be rejoicing at the humiliation of American exceptionalism and arrogance just like the rest of the world (zone B as the Saker calls it), not complaining and btching.
Because when Americans were actually competent, they were formidable war criminals.
@Harry_Red
Yes, those points you make are entirely correct. Americans ”could” (of course they didn’t) have rejoiced at NATO’s resounding defeat in Afghanistan. And as I’ve pointed out before, had they celebrated the attacks on September 11 with the overwhelming majority of the world’s peoples, the carnage in West and Central Asia would never have been started in the first place. The moronic response from the general US population was precisely what the warmongers counted on as the go-ahead.
Now, as the 20th anniversary of the 911 false flag approaches right in the wake of the rout in Afghanistan at the hands of the Taliban, Americans ”could” (of course they won’t) say that Afghanistan beat the US war criminals 20 years on — congratulations and apologies.
”Because when Americans were actually competent, they were formidable war criminals.”
Yes. And particularly fond of oppressing and tormenting poor countries, slaughtering women and children in the millions Madeleine Albright stands out as the ultimate manifest ugliness of the Empire.
We are humanity.
Do not judge.
a testimony from an American soldier who saw / experienced firsthand the truth on the ground.
“The Afghan army wasn’t real. The Afghan Civil Authority was never real. They never collected taxes. There were no courts outside of police robbing people. None of it ever existed… it was just a big jobs program funded by American money..”

This is the desired outcome. Chaos is what we want to counter the rise of China, Russia and Iran. This is not a failure of Biden. This a policy of our desperate military.
Hopefully Russia and China will effectively help counter the hoped-for chaos.
Yes it is disgusting that many in the West seem to be rubbing their Uriah Heep hands in the expectation of a bloodbath that they will then exploit to justify two decades of madness.
It is for Russia and China to deny these Schadenfreudistas this satisfaction.
Despite the “honor/revenge” culture of Afghanistan, maybe these fellows are also wily enough to “game” the expected bloodbath by leaving it on the cutting-room floor.
After all, Talib is a student, right?
Hopefully, students of wiliness.
Which means a change in the next election likely ! Now just what is that suppose to mean as it’s a party of one and nothing will change, and as far as Afghanistan the greatest percentage of the population couldn’t care less about Afghanistan, for they have more pressing problems like how to meet their bills put food on the table pay their overblown utility bills and keep a roof over their heads like in Texas as they saw $1,000 dollar electric bill due to a storm.
Far to many people suck up the propaganda that being run out of a place we should never have been in to begin with is the end of the world, it’s not for I’m sure the people will be more than glad to get sucked into another war which will be just around the corner, which means the people will get just what they deserve.
Change in the next (US) election? LOL. Maybe you should consider how the 2020 election was managed. see

But if one can take perspective of Lockheed Martin and around 20 other huge corporations it’s clear they were very succesful. If you invested $100,000 to LM in 2000 you got $1.3 million return in 2021.
Article I, Section 8, Clause 12:
[The Congress shall have Power . . . ] To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years; . . .
The Patriot Act is being used as THE quasi “Law” to usurp the U.S. Constitution in the current GWOT. Vietnam was a windfall for such as Lockheed Martin, et al PRIVATE (e.g., BOEING, et al) Contractors. Pension Funds, in two words. Disposable human fodder is to be expected. War is a Racket, see General Butler’s book. Big pHARMa covets drugs & China’s neighbors?? “Grand Chessboard”? The so called “Elite” of human specie >trade, exchange, mass murder etcetera, etc, etc >as a vile formula to be THE elite. House of Rothschild invested money in the ME long in the tooth. Our planet and life forms, all, indeed time .. enlightenment … enough of death cult worship!

Americans are so conditioned to view any speech in terms of a goal, that they have become inured to truth. Everything is commercials, propaganda, spin, PR. It is such a web of ulterior messaging that the truth cannot stand up. Hence the incompetence.
Afghanistan has never been about the official messaging. Everything ever said about Afghanistan is far from the truth. There is no reality.
The current circumstances need to again focus inquiring minds. Is this all incompetence, or is something else going on? Perhaps the Afghanistan campaign was a success in terms of the people who promulgated it and benefitted.
Perhaps the current pull out is equally conscious direction. The pull out creates chaos, and blame for the Taliban. The Al-Qaeda presence consists of jihadis the CIA relocated from Syria. Massoud’s son and war lords in the Panshir are already being hailed as the only hope. Count on the US empire to do everything to have Afghanistan devolve in civil war and rivalry, with support for extremists and separatists and saboteurs, in the hope that the territory will be bleeding China and Russia. Count on extra infiltration in Xinjiang and even more emphasis on the ‘genocide’ narrative there.
No matter how cynical you become, it is never enough to keep up.
Isn’t this the oldest trick in the world? Putting all the blame literally on the last straw man…? I concur with every sentence in the first half of the article. The losses, the grief… The stupidity.
Then comes the second half: all of this has a good side, and because It hurts “Blue stupid” politically. These stupid blues should be impeached.
Wait, what? As if the reds that were there just eight months ago were intelligent? As if all this stupid senseless mess was not started 20 years ago, by another Red stupid?
Really, i began to wonder… What’s the sense of this article? Does the author realize we’re witnessing a behavioral sink of several civilizations (the collective west), or does he just think that there was some mismanagement with the exit strategy, and all would have been fine if his preferred hue of stupids were in charge?
thank you, larchmonter445, i look forward to your next essay bt not as much as your next 2 books, one, non fiction, & a novel/screenplay. your prose suits that venue, as does your ability to ‘see out far & in deep’. you can be our tolstoy.
I share sentiment with what you have written. But lets not lose sight of the fact, that this chaotic withdrawal is also designed to create chaos in the region, so as to cause all sorts of problems for Russia, China and Iran.
Or that these billions of dollars of lethal weaponry is a part of this, as well as a direct arms transfer to extremist groups. And as a growing number of commentators and analysts have been pointing out recently, its also all part of a repositioning of resources to confront Russia, China and Iran.
Hello Larchmonter 445–Many thanks for posting this.
A whole lot of what is happening now bothers me greatly. Back during the Bush years, I wrote so many letters expressing my belief that the Afghan bombings and invasion were criminally unnecessary that I lost count. Maybe that means I’ve been doing the American Weep and Howl for a long time? Hello, Jeremiah the prophet — there is nothing new under the sun–maybe that was Solomon–anyway, how many voices crying in the wilderness. So many people in America never wanted this, but “they” didn’t listen to us. They were demonically determined Not to listen to us. Again and again I have observed that once the higher up’s determine what the people really want they stubbornly do the exact opposite!
Next question: is anything really going to change for the better? — or has the next war already been agreed upon?
The powers that be are determined that we the people will pay for their karma. Now, There actually is something we can do to prevent that — pray (and fast) and offer up sincere prayers for repentance. Maybe even beg the Righteous Lord for divine mercy.
Miracles can happen. The story goes like this: The God-Man stands in front of the blind beggar (that’s a symbol of us, I’m afraid) and asks him, What do you want? Good question. How do we answer that?
Lord, if you are willing, I would like to receive my sight. I would like to receive clear spiritual vision, which I will then follow up with holy and creative action. Then we experience our own personal resurrection, and the sun rises upon a world transformed.
“The day will come when, after harnessing the ether, the winds, the tides, gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And, on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.” —- Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
“The day will come when, after harnessing the …. gravitation…”
I take Chardins statement as a warning, so that brings my mind the very strange dream I saw few years ago. It was so lively that first I thought that I was awoke.
It went like this: I was standing in front of the children’s playing ground, everything seemed normal, besides that I saw no-one.
Suddenly I heard a strong siren-like sound – like a warning. I looked up to the sky. A passenger jet took off from the nearby airfield. There was nothing unusual in the jet, but after a while it started to spin around – exactly like some gravity-defying UFOs or spaceships in StarWars movies.
As I walked forward in my dream, I started to sense an extremely unpleasant feeling – a kind of an unusual emptiness, or a void – that’s very difficult to describe. It was like I was within a computer program, or in a hologram. Because everything looked normal – surroundings could’ve been from Helsinki, my home town – the contradiction to what I saw and to what I sensed was incredible.
There was also something else in the dream, but the only thing that was seemingly abnormal in the dream was the gravity-defying jet. But the strange feeling was so strong, that even after I awoke, I sensed it as strong as in the dream – the whole day.
It was like I’ve been in the future, that’s not so far anymore.
And yet they won’t be punished. At best Congress will change from one set of clowns (the worst probably),to another set of clowns in 2022. The military chiefs won’t be touched, and the State Department will escape punishment unless they throw someone as a “human sacrifice” to the mob. Biden is a “dead man walking” anyway. He might resign for “health reasons” months down the road ,or early next year, but nothing will change. The even more clueless Kamala Harris will take over as the new deep state puppet. The only real change that can come in the US is a coup,or revolution. And without a true military defeat I don’t see either of those happening. The American people have shown no will to save ourselves. And only an absolute disaster might change that.
yeah a miitary coup if that were possible. Brendan O’Connell thinks that – many middle level servicemen are furious. I mean, think of stealing Syrian oil every day – and wheat – unbelievable – must turn any decent person into psychopath to have to do that
I wonder why we left. There was no public outcry. The war made few headlines. Something changed the game, something we don’t know about, and pushed the US military out. I’m thinking stepped up AA technology that made drones and gunships vulnerable, but that’s pure speculation. Or this is all theater to set up a reinvigorated occupation. We know they still want the dope money.

Details of the wastes of delusional funding.ye gods.eg UK spent 30 billions for a country of 38 million peoples.
The more intriguing question for me, will the puppet governments particularly in the Balkans be a little nervous, now things have unraveled in Afghanistan.
What about Ukraine, surely they must be thinking the same. Are we on the verge of a total shake out for all puppet regimes around the globe installed by the Americans.
Dear Larchmonter445
Thank you for this. I haven’t laughed so uproriously and for so long in ages. The self-righteousness in what you write is priceless comedy. Please, let me remind you…
You committed genocide against your own indigenous peoples.
You enslaved Africans to make a few bucks out of the cotton trade.
You inspired Hitler’s genocides with your eugenics.
You dropped two atomic bombs on hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese.
You extended a war in Korea that could have been over in six months by another two years.
Vietnam…enough said.
Cuba…enough said.
You ruthlessly killed off your own leaders (JFK, MLK and RFK) in the sixties.
In the sixties, you also cynically massacred your own young on the campus of Kent State University.
You never stop hyper-violently overthrowing or undermining legitimate governments in Latin America.
You make drug-addicts of your own citizens in order to finance the psychopathy of your CIA.
You created Islamic jihadism in Afghanistan in the late 1970s.
Since 2001 you have all but destroyed, or attempted to destroy, communal society in Afghanistan, Iraq, Lybia, Yemen, Syria and Ukraine.
And you tell us that all that is needed to make this right is to fire a few bad apples at the top.
My goodness. The unreality is beyond belief.
I understand your point of view – removing some bad apples changes nothing. But regime change could happen also in US. I mean a total regime change – Americans themself should take their country back. As it should happen all around the globe.
That’s the only way to stop that globalist cancer that’s the real cause of all this misery. The root cause of the misery is not US – it has been the tool, like also UK – or any other earthly power. The root cause is that completely evil, inhuman veiled ideology behind the governments, institutions – even religions – NGOs, etc.
I know that many of you think that I’m speaking about the Jews, but in my opinion the problem is much, much deeper. It’s deeply spiritual. Every ideology has its spiritual ground – and original Judaism was about, more than anything else, obeying the God of Israel. Even the quick look to the Bible tells anyone that the God of Israel is absolutely not behind these developments. And if Jews don’t want to follow their God – then it’s something between the God and them.
I dislike socialism, but here’s an excellent article about Afghanistan, written in 2017 by a late hardcore (old school) communist Andre Vltchek:
https://www.counterpunch.org/2017/08/03/afghanistans-lies-myths-and-legends/
I’ve never been in Afghanistan, but I believe that there’s a lot of truth in this article.
My point is that even though Soviet Union was pretty much under the control of the ideology, it seems that their priorities were still a bit different, than todays Frankfurt school educated half-mad liberals – to whom it was/is perfectly acceptable to bomb and sanction a nation “to a stone age” – if that particular nation didn’t want to adopt feminism, homosexuality, etc. Even when those liberals were perfectly aware of how those “values” were seen in those particular countries!
So, in a nutshell: kill the ideology.
Well said Prospeller. Cheers.
And even before the nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, no less than 60 other cities in Japan, plus certain Chinese cities (e.g. Wuhan), were firebombed by the US.
Thanks Larchmonter for this sitrep from the mainland USA. It is full of anguish and anger and perhaps this is part of the layered objectives of the Afghan op.
I see two interesting objectives not often spoken of – one of targeting Americans by those who run the Empire and a second of bolstering the “Extremist Internationale.”
The foremost enemy that the globalists fear is a sovereign, resilient, and optimistic United States of America which “does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy.” How can a NWO be erected – promised by Bush I in 1991! – if the USA stands strong, prosperous, united, and unwilling to surrender key prerogatives to the UN or any other international body?
It is hard to believe incompetence on this scale is possible especially in such a rapid timeline. Even accounting for decades of bad education, ignorance and hubris.
Every week there appear shocking news regarding the Empire that lowers its prestige, domestically and globally, and it accelerates. It is a concerted campaign to lower the value of the Empire by globalists. Formerly economically, politically, diplomatically, public health, morally, even the infrastructure which has not been well maintained since the Nixon years. Now militarily and stewardship of Empire itself. The entire order is undergoing controlled demolition like 20 years ago in NYC.
We have to keep in mind there are some long term plans over 100 years old that are being relentlessly implemented, no matter how haphazardly, opportunistically or competently. As some insiders promised it would be achieved by consent or by conquest; they are hell bent on achieving it. Key manifestos were publicized by the civil war era occultist Albert Pike (foretelling the 3 world wars and their opposing protagonists) and the fascist Technocracy movement of the 1930s and its current iteration the Great Reset.
These processes have a certain logic to them. Foremost, the American war machine – used to conquer and consolidate the largest global Empire – must eventually be dismantled itself. What is happening is the deliberate degradation of America.
Everything is timed for maximum pain and setback to all sides concerned. Evacuating Bagram before Kabul helps to support the theory that the US in addition to China, Russia, and the region (for chaos purposes) is one of the key targets. In addition to demoralizing Americans it also functions to strip away the intelligent vassals and isolate the US.
A second purpose appears to be to resuscitate the Extremist International (EI) which became delegitimized in Muslim lands since Russia officially joined the Syria war and helped end the ISIS state. What better way to regain their confidence and get fresh recruits than a sensational humiliating and public victory over the Great Satan, even now being celebrated in Zone A? What a profitable “own goal!”
I really wonder if the deobandi taliban tiger can change its stripes? it is very hard for us to change our nature. Kadyrov of Chechnya recently said we could not trust them. But why did UAE / GCC evacuate Kabul second only to the French? A lot is unclear. We will see, but perhaps this victory is a bone being thrown the EI’s way by the Empire to recharge a failing global brand, even if the taliban have really escaped the AZ fold. And if the taliban are on the fence, the current diplomatic offensive by China and Russia is to sway them in the opposite direction.
Among unclear issues:
– is this take down of the US Empire perhaps a secret clause of the June Geneva meeting (“Yalta II”) between the US/Russian presidents? That a cover was provided of incompetent disarray, a bungled retreat, for a soft landing to avert WW3?
– could the Afghan op be a unilateral Empire screen time filler (dominating the news cycle) while the Deagle 2025 agenda is being implemented in NATO countries? Ie., this is not a concession to Russia in Geneva but rather another distraction event during the homestretch of the voluntary mandated products.
It is bizarre and unhealthy living in a world run by banksters and security agencies where the 99% may get disclosure, if at all, in 40 to 50 years. The secrecy is near absolute.
You are thinking way too hard about this. Israel and the American Jews have had their way with America for decades. Have you forgotten about the neocons and the Project for a New American Century? What makes you think that crowd are still not pulling strings? Those events are still unfolding. It was only a matter of time until the US had to leave Afghanistan, and is the incompetence of this event any different from what has been displayed countless times before?
We can only speculate, given the cordon sanitaire around the truth of who really controls the globalists. Perhaps they are under the hive-mind control of a malignant Artificial Intelligence!
I respectfully disagree that Jews run the world. They are a layer of obfuscation or straw men. How can it be otherwise for those under the wrath of our Lord for two millennia? Rather He has humiliated them endlessly since then. Martyr Zakharchenko made a laconic statement that Westerners invaded Russian lands every 30 years or so; an addendum can be made that they perpetuated holocausts on Jews on nearly the same frequency. Until a decision was made to use them in a sleight of hand with the creation of Zionism in 1800s.
Since Disraeli in mid-1800s, Jews have been a loud front. They live at the pleasure of Christian and Muslim elites and serve to deflect hate and global opprobrium, as the capitalist Anglo-Zionist elites plunder the planet. Their ill-gotten wealth can be stripped if they step out of line. Look at Israel – they are perhaps the most vaccinated locale after Iceland – does Mr. Global appear to you to be a Jew? Or is he in the process of disposing of a no-longer useful idiot?
Perhaps a better theory is that Jews are AMONG inheritors of the ancient Turkish Khazaria of the Caucasus. In this confederation, Jews are the junior partners of the putative “Judeo-Christian civilization.” The dominant group is that component which converted to Western Christianity (which took over the Papacy and much of Protestantism), as well as certain Turkish sects within Islam…

The excellent researcher F. William Engdahl thinks the ongoing demolition of the USA serves to advance the Technocratic agenda of the Great Reset:
https://journal-neo.org/2021/08/19/the-afghanistan-debacle-zalmay-khalilzad-and-the-great-reset/
The “incompetence” of the Afghan withdrawal, the mad-dog antics of neocons, failure of US leadership internally and externally, engineering a continental US civil war, making it plain America is non-agreement capable, LBGT++ and other moral ruin, etc… are multiple midwives birthing a NWO.
America delenda est.
Well… Would you believe that just over two thousand years ago a man, a man who could perform what we refer to as miracles of restoring the dead to life and of healing of people with ailments considered impossible to correct. This man claimed he was the Son of God, the God who is also Our Spiritual Father and Creator of all that exists. During His short life among us he taught us. He never talked of war but always of peace and the importance of us loving one another. He taught of a better world waiting for us when we die but only if we qualify to exist there. We must be People of Peace.
Do Engine and Navigation controls of the SHIP of STATE work? That is what many in the world are asking.
