So Ultimatum or not, Timing is what is relevant. The weight of the propositions Russia has thrust forward are determinative, and their weight came as the US showed great weakness.
First and foremost, geopolitically, was the retreat disaster in Afghanistan. The US left in disgrace and defeat.
By doing so, the US also has no way of advancing in Central Asia.
So, except for a relationship with India, the US is out of all of South Asia and Central Asia.
They will never be able to put boots on the grown or refuel planes in the middle and south Eurasia.
Their only option in Eurasia is ISIS-K and AQ–proxies. Chaos-making, a US staple of foreign policy.
Next, the plummet in the US economy. Biden’s largesse with Trillions in debt printing of US dollars has come home to roost as permanent Inflation. And his popularity has left the house. He is the most unpopular president in history. His administration is a mess. His legislative agenda has hit a stonewall.
Open borders and Crime are his trademarks.
So, domestically, the US is weak as it has been since Jimmy Carter.
Perfect timing.
Biden required a video conference with Putin who declared it a Protocol.
He had his plans ready and followed the introductory salutations with the charge that US and NATO violated the oral agreement not to advance on Russia. He indicated in the video call that Russia wanted matters reversed and Ukraine would not be allowed to enter NATO nor base any offensive missiles on their territory.
The US did not react well. However, talks among diplomats were a by-product of the video meeting. When a diplomat came to Moscow for such talks, she was presented last Wednesday with the Ultimatum documents.
Russia published them for the world to read on Friday.
So, the Russia use of Timing has befallen the US on every action and condition of US state of affairs.
The weight of the Ultimatums is the burden the US must deal with.
The US has lost the initiative, the high ground, the military advantage, the economic swagger, and the Infowar against Russia aggression.
Russia has made its case for a rebalance through diplomatic discussion.
Russia wants its Western sphere of influence cleared of missiles and nazis.
Russia cannot be threatened through NS-2 because she doesn’t need the gas sales. China and Asia await the gas if the EU blocks the pipeline.
And so, we have a few weeks ahead of “talks and negotiations”.
In the balance could be war or peace.
Likely, Putin has a plan to toss out the nazi government in Kiev and to break Ukraine so it will never be a threat.
If war comes, NATO will be broken along with Ukraine. That will clear the East Europe sphere of influence.
As the US disintegrates, Russia grows stronger.
As NATO bluffs cohesion, several members already have indicated they want no part of a war with Russia. Turkey and Norway are on the sidelines already.
Meanwhile, Russia is getting regular statements from the top Chinese officials that China stands with Russia in this showdown. “United as a rock”, FM Wang Yi spoke of the alliance of China and Russia.
Very bad timing for the US and NATO. Perfect timing for Russia.
A cold winter and sky high natural gas prices. Putin eating popcorn.
“The US has lost the initiative, the high ground, the military advantage, the economic swagger, and the Infowar against Russia aggression”.
Yes, that is true. The US is now paying the price for imperial appetites, forgetting what happened to previous empires. When you create an empire, you also create a heap of enemies and spend a heap of money. Worse, your military is spread out all over the place, like that of the US. As the old military saying goes, when you try to defend everything, you end up defending nothing, as your troops are spread out.
The collapse of the Soviet Union was, in my opinion, the best thing that could have happened to Russia, especially from the economic point of view, as money was not wasted any more. Yes, after that Russia experienced the horrors of Yeltsin’s rule, but was brought back to the right track under Putin, who rebuilt the country. That experience with Yeltsin was the best education the Russian people ever had, as they grasped what liberal politics and economics is all about. The result was that Western sponsored puppets had no chance in Russia.
The US and NATO, however, did not grasp what was going on. The collapse of the Soviet Union was interpreted as a great political victory. Instead of terminating NATO and diverting money to infrastructure, the US went in for the kill, expanding towards Russian borders and hoping Russia would break up, so it could be plundered. It did not happen. What the US was hoping for Russia is now happening in the US. I don’t think it can be stopped.
The collapse of the Soviet Union was, in my opinion, the best thing that could have happened to Russia, especially from the economic point of view, as money was not wasted any more.
Can you show me a serious study that will confirm this claim of yours, some statistics that you can refer to. If you can show us presentation at the coffee department, we’ll learn something. At least I would appreciate.Thank you
“The collapse of the Soviet Union was, in my opinion, the best thing that could have happened to Russia”
You are correct.
The Bolshevik project from 1903 onwards was based on non-sustainable coercive social relations; “The Soviet Union” was built of extended and varying coercive social social relations from inception in 1922.
That “The Soviet Union” was not sustainable for various reasons and hence lateral (not emulatory linear) preparations were required to “Drown a drowning man with the minimum of blowback” was understood by a small sum of some from 1969 onwards which facilitated an increase in sums of some reaching such understanding by 1991.
By 2021 many in the Russian Federation have accepted that, with regrets here and there on specific issues, the ongoing lateral process of transcendence of “The Soviet Union” by the Russian Federation given the new constitution, is the best thing that could have happened to “The Soviet Union”.as a work in progress.
Sorry, are you convincing yourself because you are unsure of what you are claiming or trying just to convince others on the site in the superiority of Russian decisions? Isn’t it enough that some “independent” analysts do the same in given texts without criticism? Certain look from one side of the pillow?? Has this become a site of praise for the decisions of the Russian leadership? Why would the US be as weak as you say and isn’t the beast the worst when it’s wounded? What do they have to lose in the opening of conventional hotspots around the world? Their instructors will not die for sure, Moscow will not target the partners of the International Bank for settlments in Basel, Davos partners…… are they not just Kudrin Sreder’s sentences for internal use in Russia, post-Soviet space, ones which should harden the security belives of the russian allies? What about the deeds in the field? Putin survived the streat, so he claims man should allways strike first. Realy, how about warnings to the opponent several times, in addition to requests and announcements before he strikes what the russian leadership has so far presented??? Where did so much confidence come from that the US left Central and South Asia, the Caucasus, and Russia’s borders in general? Next to Blackwater Mercenaries? Where did this information come from that NATO will disintegrate, that Turkey and Norway will stay aside in the event of war? Can you give me a reference to check. Thank you
Your questions only mask your own uncertainty. The US is profoundly weak. It is disintegrating on all fronts: social, economic, political and military. And it appears that you wish it wasn’t so. You are clinging. But does it even matter? For the Russians have already reached this conclusion; as it is implicit in their ultimatum.
Amongst many, two important features of this decline stand out that are relevant to this thread.
The first is the quality of leadership in the US. As Mr. Martyanov has pointed out, Afghanistan was magnitudes worse than Vietnam. For it exposed the staggering level of incompetence of the US politicians, military leadership and intelligence services. 20 years of effort and Afghanistan collapsed in just a few days. The Secretary of Defense and top general then simply shrugged, threw up their hands, declared that they had no idea as to what happened and were then allowed to come to work the next day. This would, of course, be absolutely incomprehensible in any country with a functioning system of accountability. And it points to the absolute corruption and psychological dysfunction in the US system as a whole. These are also the same leaders who are promoting “woke” politics in the ranks, completely out of touch and without any seeming regard for the corrosive effect this will have on morale. Such leadership is not competent to wage a successful war against a determined, skilled and highly advanced adversary such as Russia. After what happened in Afghanistan can anyone believe that these same people will rise to the occasion then? The quality of leadership is just as important, if not more, than the quality of weapons. The Russians are very aware of the collective demise in US leadership. In the diplomatic trenches these are the people they deal with face to face.
The second is the quality of weapons. US military doctrine centers around limited numbers of high-value assets such as satellites, AWACS and aircraft carriers. US forces are completely and totally dependent on controlling the air. These assets were invulnerable to the small 3rd-world countries that the US typically picks on. These assets are extremely vulnerable to the latest Russian missile and electronic warfare technology. The Pentagon is acutely aware of this fact. The bottom line is that any campaign of aggression against Russia by US/NATO will result in a large number of high profile losses of these high-value assets that will deny US/NATO dominance in the air. And their soldiers on the ground will pay a terrible price.
Systemic poor leadership combined with vulnerable weapons systems that have never been tested against a real adversary, especially one as innovative and advanced as Russia, are just two of the reasons why this ultimatum has been delivered now.
The U.S. is much weaker than when Carter was in office, we are much closer to a Civil War than anyone believes the first shot was when the people flooded into Washington over the election and even to the divide in the military which is growing as we speak then with all the many genders within the military and the virus you have a perfect storm which Russia and China is taking advantage of. The people, at least the smart ones, are stocking up on food ammunition and weapons as they see the break-down of the country with big business and banking running the country by buying the politicians while waging a war against the working class.
Larchmonter445, I have to say it. I am a fan. Your writing and analysis is so superb, as is the Saker’s. Man there are some great commenters on this site. Wow.
Very thought provoking, many thanks for your video. (15-20 mins seem to be the ideal lenght for my attention span.. ;) ) We live in extraordinary times indeed..
Excellent presentation Mr. Martyanov. Yes, Russia is done with Europe, certainly as far as politics goes. However, the EU still has to grasp this fact, thinking it can bully Russia with sanctions and threats of sanctions, like using stalling tactics when it comes to Nord stream – 2. As one analyst has stated, the EU needs Russia more than Russia needs the EU, as it can always export it’s oil and gas to China, India and others. And yes, there is no special relationship with Germany, only a ‘marriage of convenience’ as far as trade goes. The old hatreds of the Slavs is very much present in Germany. The cancellation of RT in Germany is just one example, while German participation with stalling tactics on Nord Stream-2 is another example, no matter how strange it may be, as Germany needs Russian energy.
And no, Russia is not a gas station which has no industry, bearing in mind the high tech it produces. People no doubt people were surprised when they heard Mr. Martyanov state that the Russian economy is 2-3 times the size of that in Germany. Russia is on the rise, as is China. However, there are some people in the West who have trouble understanding this.
And yes, there are indeed people in the West with mental problems, like crazies on Wall Street and in the US Congress, who think that Russia can be broken with sanctions or with a sneak nuclear attack. This is what makes the situation dangerous. When an empire starts to collapse, it plays dirty. Not only is the US empire collapsing, but the US is showing signs of internal political, social, ethnic and financial disintegration. The only remedy in such a situation is a ‘victorious war’ somewhere, like in Ukraine, which will be used as a proxy fighter and sacrificial lamb. This is an old bankers trick, and analysts have for years been warning that it cannot work any more, due to the gigantic US foreign and domestic debts, the de-industrialization of the US, and the fact that dollar is printed backed by nothing, except of course by the US military. However, the crazies among the neocons in the US will not accept this fact. We shall now see what they are going to do.
The cancellation of RT in Germany is just one example, while German participation with stalling tactics on Nord Stream-2 is another example, no matter how strange it may be, as Germany needs Russian energy.
Were these done with or without pressure from the US?
The US, of course, played it’s part. However, in this particular case, it had plenty of support inside Germany, as German right wingers were no doubt horrified to see a Russian TV channel inside the country.
You can watch them only directly from the web sites. They are banned from all Western social media present in Germany, and of course unavailable via TV set.
“The only remedy in such a situation is a ‘victorious war’ somewhere, like in Ukraine…”
Yes, but only if victory is followed by plundering of vast resources. War is expensive. Wining war for just having thrills is shortcut to abyss. Wining war that is followed by throwing money into black hole (Ukraine) is even worse.
I do not think Anglos are THAT crazy. They are just trying to instigate other bastards to die for false cause.
Sending 1000 men at border with Russia here and there doesnt change a bit. As sending 10000 or 100000. Even million soldiers couldn’t defeat Russia.
How many men had attacker that conquered Russia last time?
The war drums between Russia and the west have been beating ever louder. Here’s just the past few weeks’ news:
On Friday, 12 November 2021 Polish defense minister Mariusz Blasczak announced that the UK deployed a squad of British soldiers to Poland where they would help repair and fortify border fences that were breached by Middle Eastern migrants and provide reconnaissance and monitoring activities.
The very same day, two US Congressmen have urged President Joe Biden to provide advanced weapons to Ukraine and “deploy a U.S. military presence in the Black Sea.”
Only two days later the outgoing head of the UK Chief of Defence Staff, General Sir Nick Carter stated that the UK military would have to be ready for war with Russia.
Then the UK announced that the British military would enhance its permanent presence of troops and tanks in Germany to face “the Russian threat.” Hundreds of vehicles including tanks and drones will be deployed to Germany.
More troops and some 250 military vehicles could be deployed to Estonia, where the UK has led a 1,000-strong battle group on a mission to deter Russian aggression.
Many war hawks in the west have sought to escalate the rhetoric by drawing parallels with the events of 1938. Referring to Vladimir Putin, US Congressman Adam Kinzinger (RINO-IL) said: “We can retreat from the Sudetenland and hope he doesn’t intend to rebuild all the Soviet Union.” The not so subtle insinuation was that today Ukraine is Sudetenland, that Vladimir Putin is Hitler and that the West must confront him decisively and with force if necessary. The analogy is completely off mark, but since it is now being thrown about casually, we should be clear about exactly what happened in the late 1930s.
we all know who the perfidious albion is. is is defenitly not al the folks in the uk, going to work everyday. they are all, quite good chaps.
it is the instigatiors of the boer consentrasion camps, the metabulisric massacre of india, and the orignin of the long handle east in afghanistan, after a looong great game in the kush’es.
thats all, in its simpleness, but seriousness, it is.
it is, the intergerelationale, semi-dynastic, mainly european families we are not allowed to mention. and they WANT RUS RESSOURSER.
if i was rus, i would chart all the ‘’secret’’ families, up three levels, and have them all assasinated withing a few hours. a good payback, from the ambassadors a time back.
if you are take the responsibility to the responsible, well…. there it is. perfidious albion. THE CROWN. for those who know.
Timing….4.15 Martianov says…..russian leadership has the best geopolitical analitics in the world :)). How about “washing biography”. A few things come to “sickman” mind. For example. There is nothing more to steal in Ukraine, the “partner” 13 tribe oligarchy took what it wanted(still having business in Russia). Gas pipes have passed however, gas does not flow although billions of taxpayers’ money have been given (being discussed publicly), a BP question share. Question remains, why were in fact thousands of people have to die in Donbas? Maybe “restraint” given to Israel to open games on ME, Algeria is preparing for war with Maroco, Libya is destroyed. Then, if weapons and “NATO instructors” aka soldiers are already in Ukraine or Georgia in their bases, why are they publicly protesting the opening of a NATO base? Fear of war with Gobi partners? In addition to all that assurance of their good intentions and the Lisbon Vladivostok Transversal? A violation of international law that does not exist? Interruption of the Silk Road project? Furthermore, the situation with antiwaxers is not ideal, at least as far as I follow social networks, people have lost trust in the DUMA and the Leader. Too much corruption and empty rhetoric.
Oh, we feel your pain. The CIA plant Navalny is confined (for stealing) in prison, and the fat cats of MIC have not produced anything valuable for the US “defense” (see Boeing 737 & F35 crashes).
Ukraine is zio-nazified in the image of Canadian Banderites who are ready to sacrifice young Ukrainian blood for the ZUSA’s hegemonic plans. Your Chrystia Freeland is an obedient tool of Nuland-Kagan.
At least Russians are protecting their families, their culture, their history. They may be not picture-perfect for some prudes but their Russian sentiments are decent unlike the intentions of the zionzied US, zionized Canada, and the zionized EU/UK.
The timing is based on two things: 1) Russia has the strength now, as Gilbert Doctorow points out in his latest at Antiwar.com, and as others are pointing out, the backing of China; and 2) Ukraine is going to attack Donbass at the urging of the CIA and the neocons, so Putin has decided to get out in front of this by offering the West a way out, thus gaining the “moral high ground” when the West declines to take his offer.
The problem is that the West isn’t going to listen, moving us one step closer to nuclear war, probably within the next ten years if not sooner. The only thing that might derail that is if Russia manages to put enough nuclear threat in place near the US to clearly re-establish a MAD deterrent. But that alone increases the risk of nuclear war to a dangerous level.
Seminal video by Mr Martyanov. I hope the West is listening.
My only further emphasis would be that although he touches on the cultural demise in the West, I think this should be ranked alongside the military, political and economic demise – if not collapse.
The main problem of Russian power is not the possession of exceptional weapons of all sizes and calibres but the willingness to pull the trigger. This has been a curse of Russian foreign policy for a long time and it has currently reached an acute level with a “hard ultimatum that cannot be accepted piecemeal, yet is not an ultimatum but a civilised invitation to talks if the West will have us – as long as we can avoid a direct confrontation with our partners. All kinds of amateurish post hoc adjustments and legerdemains cannot mask a very clear f….p at the ministry for foreign affairs or elsewhere.
The West is blithely ignoring Russia’s demands and is positioning soldiers, machinery, missiles and aircraft to all the red-line states – as if the ultimatum hadn’t been issued. I cannot see the complex undercurrents that must be dealt with 24/7 by competent bureaucrats and experts. What I do see are pretty useless talking heads Peskov and Ryabkov – and I won’t mention Madame Zakharova who is a lovely lady but not really contributing to a substantive change of Russia’s inferior geopolitical position. Their only task is to soothe, reassure and issue an occasional motherly scolding to their bitter enemies.
Here is an excerpt from Ken Lesley’s piece published in August 2020. It seems that events are unfolding along that same path:
“Another consequence will be accelerated squeezing and neutralisation of the semi-impotent Serbia and the final Gleichschaltung of the Eastern wing of NATO in preparation for a more muscular phase of the war. This will involve transferring more troops and missiles to the East (but always under the retaliation threshold), closing down of Russia’s embassies and consulates in Europe while pretending to oppose the United States, closing down financing channels and media outlets, making life miserable for Russian citizens and businessmen abroad plus hundreds more nasty tricks. In many ways, the strategy of sustained pressure is more dangerous than open conflict because it sucks out hope from the people of the affected country—the hope that they will be treated as equals by the “cultured” West.”
I supported you. Spot on . Your analysis is 1000% correct. How could a country like Russia allow UK to violate her territory and did nothing to sink those ships, to prove a point but Mr Putin came up with Bogus illogical excuses if Russia sank those ships , Britain couldn’t have done anything because they wouldn’t have won the war, nonsense.
The British knew that Putin wouldn’t do a thing that is why they did what they did.
Timid leaders and people behave that way.
“Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard,
It seems to me most strange that men should fear;
Seeing that death, a necessary end,
Will come when it will come.”
…..but the willingness to pull the trigger. This has been a curse of Russian foreign policy for a long time and it has currently reached an acute level……
Right on spot, however now is the time to wash biography or the Elvira Aleksej-Gerhard leadership would lose a lot. Dont underestimate them. Especially when their partners are throwing failed Ukraine onto volley-ball to russian leadership to point at least something. They will get the economically ruined Ukraine to take care of pensions and sociall cases and present themselves to the Russians and allies as saviors :)). What will certainly not increase dependence on China or Europe business elite in the future:)). We have nothing to worry about, they say that the sanctions have completely improved Russian economy and that it will not be a problem to feed all those people. Maybe a small conventional war will obscure the failed decisions of incompetent leadership, what do you think?
Regular Ukrainians on the street are not afraid of a Russian invasion aside from the political aficionados arm chajr quarterback types. It isn’t even talked about in most social circles. Of course everyone is aware that anything can happen in this country. Just ask anyone form Donetsk and Lugansk. These current events are seen as political posturing and nothing more. Everyone here knows that Ukraine cant stand up to Russia. The ruling class here does not represent the people. All this anti russian BS comes from the western part of Ukraine. Does the average Ukrainian citizen wants to live under Russia’s rule and would greet them with open arms? I would say “no”. What I do see here is that the younger people are slowly adopting an identity of being solely Ukrainian, in contrast the older people who understand that most all Ukrainians are Russian but not all Russians are Ukrainian. Tak – which direction is better for Ukraine? East or West. I can’t say, but I do wish the people of Ukraine the best.
Great use of the term ‘zugzwang’ at 18:32. This term comes from Chess. If you’re not familiar with it, here is a definition from https://www.chess.com/terms/zugzwang-chess#examples-of-zugzwang. “Zugzwang is a German term that means “a compulsion to move.” The idea behind this term is that in certain positions, it would be beneficial for a player to skip their turn because moving any piece would result in an advantage for their opponent.” Mr. Martyanov’s point is that America’s dwindling economic and geopolitical power place it in a position that any move it makes could backfire, leading to unexpected outcomes, or even perhaps hastening the arrival of the endgame itself. . . . not a word you hear everyday!
In reality the “Inside The Beltway” crowd are on a geopolitical island cut off from Mainstream USA but only able to lily pad step from CNN at MSNBC and to CNN but not anywhere else.
The fact that the coasts are now disconnected from the Heartlands from Texas to Iowa will have a major impact on military capability and legitimacy.
The appetite for ‘Adventurism’ as “Radio Peace & Progress” used to call it, is very very limited in the populace in UK and USA
Western politicians abilities to live in denial is a prerequisite for their very existence. Illusion is everything! The best example is the concertinaed propaganda outlets, each CIA/MI6/5.5 Bellingc*nt department within MSM, beating the drum, flogging a dead horse, proprietors being subsidized ‘not to turn those machines off’; yes, it’s pitiful to watch those former power brokers. the shadow government, refuse to accept these ‘new realities’ and relinquish their former ‘free passes’, diplomatic privileges, withdraw their size 11 boots from the asses of the great unwashed.
A considerable amount of tear and innocent blood shedding before their final hurrah, I’m afraid.
Regarding the timing, I think that the presentation of the ultimatum needs to be considered in the context of the announcement a couple of weeks ago that China and Russia will launch their joint financial transaction system, allowing them to separate from the West, by the end of 2022.
Over the last couple of months the West has threatened sanctions against Russia, in particular disconnection from SWIFT. This threat has allowed Russia and China to take ‘defensive’ action, i.e. undertaking to launch this joint Russia – China alternative to SWIFT.
However, in my view, this action is not so much defensive as offensive, and that it has been in preparation for a long time, just waiting for the right moment. Providing an alternative to SWIFT, for not only themselves but all of their trading partners as well, will mark the beginning of the end of the $US as the world’s reserve currency, and with it the last source power that enables the U.S. to be considered a geo-political super-power. As Mr.Martyanov rightly states the U.S. has long since ceased to be an industrial or a military super-power.
I think that the ultimatums will have the effect of freezing the geo-political situation for the time it takes for hyper-inflation to set in in the U.S., once demand for the $US dries up when it is no longer needed as a reserve currency. The ensuing economic depression will force the U.S. to abandon all of its imperial enterprises and focus its attention on trying to save itself from total collapse.
Yes, the double deficit that the US has been able to run for the last 40 years explains it all.
It s been very confortable with a basis on OLD Bretton woods and the offspring thereof.
And it is cut off by a new system the economic and social tissue of uncle Sam will in a few years be torn apart.
She asked herself why the West needs this, when it cannot oppose Russia more than zero possibilities. It is unbelievable that they do not understand that, Russia will warn them and close the communication network of the whole of Europe, blind planes, blind ships and everything else in the military sector, if necessary, Russia can shoot down communication satellites. It is a warning, but war is something much worse for the West. And now whether the West wants this game, as a game: What is happening in Europe is nothing but frightening. The people of the EU are living through a gruesome revision of the whole state-individual relationship, with monster governments that have given themselves power so they can now instruct their citizens what to do with their bodies, and the individual is deprived of the right to no longer enjoy sovereignty. the tiny grain of dust of the world that is his own body and mind. The virus is an excuse for the whole purpose of destroying the economy and taking away all private property, of course ours not our own – Klaus announced this: You will have nothing and you will be happy. And now this whole game of provoking war, has its own design, which has the purpose of fear as everything they start, with family quarantine, with social separation of people-alienation from each other, imprisonment of unvaccinated and those closures have nothing to do with the virus, and now the crown fear of war. What other purpose would it be, for one to be at war who is aware that he cannot oppose. The collapse of the economy was caused by all the other designs, with intent. As much as the government pays attention to the collapse of energy, hence the game with the oil pipelines, imagine the problem is the certificate, and the citizens are not the problem, because they have been written off. By no means is this a conspiracy, because everything happens.
When children of Serbian workers living in Germany come for vacation to Serbia, people in Serbia are surprised to see anti-Russian indoctrination in those kids. Germans start with anti-Russian indoctrination of children already in kindergartens. Andrei is absolutely right that Germans are enemies of Russia and Russians. Russians should not have any illusion about Germans. I am surprised that Russians are willing to sell oil and natural gas to Western Europeans, and especially Germans. Russians should deny access of their resources to Western Europeans and Germans. Enemies should be treated with absolute cruelty. But I am Serb, so, may be Russians know something that I don’t know.
I think it’s because Russia sees that the US influences German foreign policy and the mainstream media. The MSM then influences the dominant narrative about Russia. My belief is that Russia’s reaching out to Germany is a way of wresting control away from the US. When a media outlet like RT proves to be popular in Germany, it’s likely because they’ve lost trust in their own MSM. The long-standing policy of the US and UK has been to prevent comity between Russia and Germany, as an entente between the two nations would rival, if not threaten, Anglo hegemony. Correct me if I’m wrong.
Last Summer, if Russia had sunk the British destroyer it would have been playing into NATO’s hands. NATO was on site with a massive drill and several divisions up and active. The drill could have been easily converted to the real thing.
Sun Tzu wrote that you should not allow your enemy to choose the time and place of the battle. It is critically important to take control of the time and place of the battle. By reacting only, Russia allows NATO/USA to control the time and place.
After last Summer, and hearing the squawking about Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russia can see plain as day that NATO is planning a Ukrainian war for this coming Winter. However, all the stars have now aligned in Russia’s favor. The hypersonic advantage is there, the S-500 is deployed as well, and the dollar is about to collapse. Russia holds all the best cards in their hand.
So, this time Russia (with China and Iran secretly in agreement) put forward this “request” or “ultimatum” for the purpose of seizing the initiative. Russia says, we need an answer in weeks, not months. Why? Russia and China have already agreed to deliver a KO to the beast, and they intend to do it before NATO can start a war in Ukraine. The purpose of the diplomatic request was to set up the international law in favor of Russia and China’s actions. We will find out what their plan in in 3-6 weeks maximum.

At least I would appreciate.Thank you
djole
I do not employ a secretary which keeps records, nor do I conduct business at any coffee department.
Yes, yet another imperial exit.
Mr. Carter was a good President. He got the Arabs and Israeli’s to sit down and talk, overcoming the immense power of the Jewish American lobby.
Not like the weasels before and after him, who have taken it upon themselves to sell the U.S. down the AIPAC rabbit-hole.
and his favorite ice cream 😘
Were these done with or without pressure from the US?
Digby
The US, of course, played it’s part. However, in this particular case, it had plenty of support inside Germany, as German right wingers were no doubt horrified to see a Russian TV channel inside the country.
http://de.rt.com/livetv/
Are you sure ? This looks like RT to me……and I know Sputnik had to rename to avoid conflict with http://www.sputnik.de which is MDR TV.
You can watch them only directly from the web sites. They are banned from all Western social media present in Germany, and of course unavailable via TV set.
There’s never been a moment in its entire history that the US has not played dirty.

“Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard,
It seems to me most strange that men should fear;
Seeing that death, a necessary end,
Will come when it will come.”
Thanks.
Has anyone interviewed a regular Ukrainian in the street if their are afraid of a Russian invasion?
There was a Ukrainian poll: 50% would resist a Russian invasion.
Does that mean the other half would welcome them?!
Yes. The answers depend on who you ask is about 70% of people in Ukraine feel Russian and speak the Russian language.
Excellent Mr. Martyanov.
Dear Andrei,
Thank you for all of your work. It keeps my Heart beating. All is well.

I suppose a transcript of this video would be nice, particularly the section where he talks about Germany.
Great explanation, and a positive attitude for 2022. Thanks to Andrei and to the Saker from a supporter in France.
