Russia deployed a very large naval force to the Western Approaches just before the Republics were
recognized. As I recall, it consists of every seaworthy bottom in the North, Baltic, and Far East Fleets…
To date, nothing has been reported about it. Since it’s deployment at least 2 major winter storms have gone
through the “Exercise Area” ~ 200 nm SW of Ireland
It ranges from Dorsey Head on the extreme west of Ireland, to Lands End on the extreme west of Britain, and south to Pointe Du Raz on the extreme west of Brittany, thence west 500 nm into the Atlantic ocean.
It’s import is that it funnels all trans atlantic shipping into the English Channel and ports east ward.
In this case, a fleet located 200 nm SW of Dorsey Head, is out of NATO fighter/bomber range , has a clear field of view for it’s AAS systems to interdict any hostiles, but is close enough to both Britain and France for missile strikes on either or both from the western direction. This gives Russia a cross fire capability covering Britain, France, Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Norway, Iceland.
Most probably, that is it’s purpose, ie: to make it impossible for NATO to escape utter destruction should it
choose war with Russia. Because this fleet carries > 10,000 missiles…
Andrey, should he choose to do so, is welcome to elaborate.
BTW, I served in the USN in wartime. My rank is LT. I spent 30 years at sea….
Obviously that’s a lot of missile based firepower! Whilst I’m fairly sure that Russian surface ships don’t carry strategic nuclear weapons (that being the role of their submarine service), I wonder if any of those missiles might have tactical nuclear warheads, especially since many Russian ship-launched cruise missiles, typically the 3M-54 (Kalibr) were designed with such a capability.

Rogozin announced the appearance in the Russian arsenal of a missile (the last test launch and transfer to a series – A.N.) with an unlimited range (i.e., it can hit any target on Earth along any trajectory – A.N.)) https://t.me/roscosmos_gk/2830
[ 09/06/2021 Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation S. Tsoigu:
Flight tests of the new Russian intercontinental ballistic missile “Sarmat” … should be completed in 2022, the missile should also begin to arrive in the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) in 2022.
The RS-28 “Sarmat” ICBM will replace the world’s most powerful silo-based strategic missile RS-20V “Voevoda” (according to NATO classification – SS-18 “Satan”) in the Uzhur (Krasnoyarsk Territory) and Dombarovsk (Orenburg Region) divisions of the Strategic Missile Forces .]
The Sarmat missile system has a number of characteristics that have not been seen before in any intercontinental ballistic missiles.
Rogozin:
“This year we will replenish the arsenals of strategic nuclear forces with another Sarmat intercontinental ballistic complex, which will give us guarantees of a safe life for 35-40 years ahead, just as the Voevoda complex gave us.
… This is very important for the strategic balance in the world, since this is the only type of fifth-generation ICBM that is close to being put on combat duty.
It differs sharply in its capabilities from its predecessor, Voyevoda (R-36).
First, the Sarmat is heavier, over 200 tons, and has new rocket engines. Like Voyevoda, they run on heptyl (fuel, C2H8N2) and dinitrogen tetroxide (oxidizer, N2O4). However, the new engines (the name after the modification is RS-99) are more powerful, and therefore allow the rocket to be accelerated to the required speeds in a shorter period of time. This dramatically reduces the segment of the trajectory when it can be shot down after takeoff, that is, the probability of intercepting a new missile is reduced from this.
Another distinguishing feature: this is a suborbital rocket capable of reaching the United States, as, indeed, any other part of the world, along any trajectory. Its range in relation to targets on our planet is not limited, and it is assumed that it will be able to reach its targets from the south pole. From the south, Western countries do not have any deployed missile defense systems.
The third important feature of the Sarmat is the possibility of equipping it with Avangard warheads actively maneuvering in hypersound (previously tested). Due to their movement at the boundary of the dense layers of the atmosphere, they move in a plasma cloud. Although this created noticeable difficulties for the developers, the warheads themselves on such a trajectory are very difficult to shoot down. Existing missile defense systems are not capable of this. If equipped with such blocks, the rocket will be able to carry three of them. When equipped with conventional thermonuclear warheads, without the possibility of active maneuvering – 10-15 pieces.
In order to increase the stability of missile silos for Sarmats, it is planned to equip them with Mozyr active protection systems. This is a package of many artillery pieces that shoot a cloud of balls at a point above the missile silo, where the enemy’s thermonuclear warhead falls. Encountering such protection, the enemy warhead is mechanically destroyed before it approaches the missile silo at a distance sufficient to undermine it. A conventional air fusion explosion cannot disable a missile silo (it is exceptionally strong). Requires “contact”, ground detonation, but in the presence of “Mozyr” it is not realizable.
With all the advantages of “Sarmat”, he also has some ambiguous sides. It is alleged that its Avangard warheads may exist in a non-nuclear version. This is logical, since at a speed of several kilometers per second, when hitting the surface, the warhead will produce an explosion greater than that which would give a similar weight of TNT. Due to the unlimited range of the Vanguard, it will be possible to strike anywhere in the world for about half an hour.
But if Russia does use such weapons in a conventional war, it is not clear how US missile warning systems will be able to distinguish between launches of “non-nuclear” Sarmats from those of Sarmats with a thermonuclear warhead. Probably, the Russian leadership planned to somehow use this moment in the negotiations on new START-type treaties, but due to the fact that the States are not interested in such treaties, this problem remains unresolved now.
An interesting feature of the Sarmat is that, due to the large weight and significant speeds launched into space, it can be used with virtually no alterations to launch satellites on orbit. The Voevoda was used in a similar way: after the end of the service, a satellite was placed in its head and launched. Considering that the capabilities of the Sarmat are greater, it will be able to deliver satellites of almost any realistic size into space. However, this will not happen soon: the service life of such systems is measured in tens of years.
Recently, the Russian side has been actively demonstrating the adoption and use of such types of weapons, about which not much was previously known. For example, today the Ministry of Defense showed the use of Kh-31PM missiles in Ukraine. This is the latest anti-radar missile with a range of destruction of air defense systems of 260 kilometers (according to other sources, up to 280 kilometers). This exceeds the range of any air defense systems in other countries of the world.
Just thoughts> Never before have I heard my friend Andrei in such an agitated state. Very true. Just like last time the Russians dealt with Nazis forcefully, there were similar unfounded beliefs to the effect that the Germans would capitulate the very moment the USSR invaded their national territory. Stalin and his generals had a far better grasp of the situation. This kind of fanaticized dregs has to suffer tremendous, monumental defeat right in the vicinity of the seats of enemy power. 3) simple fear of getting shot by the extremists. Check out the pictures of Germany in 1945 with all the people hung by the SS on the lamp posts. It is estimated that 40.000 executions took place in the last months of the war.
Many Ukrainians are probably hostages of the Azov and fanatic types, hunker down, and pray silently for this nightmare to end. The romantic vision of a general uprising cannot happen in the context of a modern war.

I don’t know how many guns were handed out, but I know who got them. Insane little old facist ladies, and their grandsons. “Normalnie” people are right to be afraid. That’s why Zelensky did (or merely announced) this.
As Andrei mentioned, the collective West has certainly gone into hyperdrive where anti-Russian propaganda is concerned. YouTube (well, what do we really expect) is full of “supposedly well-researched” presentations that are either blatant, or not quite so blatant “Russian Military is stupid / disillusioned / about to mutiny” propaganda, for example –
Maybe Wendover Productions needs to realise that Russia knows the exact location of everywhere in Ukraine, there is no resupply problem (seeing as Ukraine’s on Russia’s border, AND Russia enjoys fully uncontested air superiority, so air resupply is simple). The underlying thesis seems to be as mentioned by Andrei – since Russian forces are not advancing as quickly as “The West” might expect, then this is a clear indicator that they have a logistics problem. No. Russian forces are advancing at a speed that suits THEM, not “The West”, and there is NO logistical problem. Russia is not following the US / NATO “Kill everything that moves” policy (dating back to the Vietnam war), rather a careful policing policy where as many non-combatants as possible will be spared. hmmm..New York Times days USA and Nato have delivered to Poland for use in Ukraine 27000 anti tank weapons in just one week .. so how can they be prevented from onward delivery ….plus of course the implication USA and Nato are confirming themselves as active participants and as actual targets…is now implicit.
The United States and its allies have pumped over $3 billion in arms into Ukraine since the 2014 Maidan coup, and committed to send over $850 million more in military aid late last month after Russia began a military operation in the country aimed at “demilitarizing” the regime in Kiev.
Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley made an unannounced visit to an undisclosed airfield near the border with Ukraine last week, a senior Pentagon official has told CNN.
The airfield was said to have been turned into a major hub for the shipment of NATO weaponry into Ukraine, with Milley said to have toured the facility, acquainted himself with the weapons transfer operation and met with troops. The country where the base is situated was not specified.
The outlet’s source said the shipments have not yet been targeted by the Russian military upon entering Ukraine, but expressed fears that this may happen in future.
US European Command (EUCOM) is responsible for coordinating the weapons transfers, and is working with other countries including the UK “to ensure that we are using our resources to maximum efficiency to support the Ukrainians in an organized way,” a second source said.
The Biden administration has already delivered about $240 million of its promised $350 million in additional military equipment to Ukraine, with the rest expected to arrive in the coming days or weeks at the latest. The European Union promised to commit nearly 500 million euros for its own military aid package.
In all, 14 countries have now sent or committed to send arms to the Eastern European country.

hmmm..New York Times days USA and Nato have delivered to Poland for use in Ukraine 27000 anti tank weapons in just one week .. so how can they be prevented from onward delivery ….plus of course the implication USA and Nato are confirming themselves as active participants and as actual targets…is now implicit.
