Somebody blew up an Israeli bus in Bulgaria, and Netanyahu immediately blames Iran and add the following threat: “All the signs lead to Iran. Israel will respond forcefully to Iranian terror”.
Sure comes at a good time for the Israeli regime.
Another false flag?
Hi Saker. Regarding this and the bombing in Syria I’d say neither is a false flag.
In Syria, there is no way Assad would kill those four. The whole government would crumble in a matter of hours if generals thought they were themselves targets of their own security services. And it would be impossible to keep it a secret from the people who matter. Also, it looks bad in foreign press.
The rebels were claiming they had poisoned those four people a few days ago. Today, BBC is reporting that there is no sign of bombing in the area. Possibly foreign intelligence poisoned their food and the Syrian government is calling it a suicide bombing.
While it does look very bad, I don’t think the government is about to fall.
Regarding Israel, I don’t think they would kill Israelis in a false flag. If they had defused the bomb “at the last minute” or had it been some hapless Bulgarians, then quite possibly. It also isn’t a good time for them since it overlaps the murder of the 4 Syrian officials. (at least the announcement of it) and so it has to share the news cycle with them.
Blaming Iran is the knee jerk response. Honestly, though, even if it were Iran, what can Israel say after having murdered those Iranian scientists? All of whom were also civilians.
Anyway, we will know more in the next few days. As always, if the facts change, I’m prepared to change my mind.

Ok, purely hypothetical so far, but let me offer this. Top generals always have deputies who want their spot, and there is also such thing as inter-agency fighting. There is, in fact, no need to keep anything very secret. Look how Stalin purged his own party (to get rid of the Leninist & Trotskysts) and then his own military (to – contrary to what official history says – get rid of useless executioners and replace them with far more competent men). And look how the SS purged the SA. Then think of the entire Tlass debacle, of the total incompetence against the insurgency, and then imagine you are you are the local station chief for the Russian GRU or the Iranian VEVAK. And you are meeting with Assad. What do you tell him? “Keep going, you are doing great!”? I don’t think so. You yell at him for 20 mins and listen to him whine about how all his top officials are idiots. And then you give the guy a long cold stare, and tell him that he do something about it. And then you suggest that at least in one of the Mukhabarats there are some trustworthy folks who fell just like he does…
Again, THIS IS TOTALLY BASELESS FANTASIES, I am not in any way claiming that any of that has any basis in fact.
But it is churning around in my brain over and over and over again…
Oh well, maybe its my wishful thinking getting in the way of seeing this entire debacle for what it is: yet another disgraceful Baathist collapse…
The rebels were claiming they had poisoned those four people a few days ago. Today, BBC is reporting that there is no sign of bombing in the area. Possibly foreign intelligence poisoned their food and the Syrian government is calling it a suicide bombing.
Now that is a totally convoluted version, really. As for the no signs of the bombing, that is because it was no suicide bomber in a car, as some corporate media reported, but a guy who walked straight into the room where all these bigshots were sitting…
g Israel, I don’t think they would kill Israelis in a false flag.
Of course they would and they have done so in the past.
Honestly, though, even if it were Iran, what can Israel say after having murdered those Iranian scientists?
Of course they can. See, all it takes is saying that those nasty nasty Iranians were about to commit “another Holocaust” (capital “H”) of “another six million Jews” (never say the word “Holocaust” without adding the obligatory 6 million figure!!) whereas the Israelis were “peaceful tourists” (which they probably were).
In a world thoroughly brainwashing info doublethink that kind of possible cognitive dissonance (aka “hypocrisy”) is the norm, in particular for anything connected to Jews or Israel.
Anyway, we will know more in the next few days.
Agreed.
As always, if the facts change, I’m prepared to change my mind.
Same here. I have a long and distinguished history of being wrong, so one more time will not make me look any more silly than I already do. Good thing ridicule does not kill :-)
If von Stauffenberg had been a suicide bomber instead of leaving the room and leaving the briefcase behind he’d have succeeded in taking Hitler out and history would have been very different.
Agree with Lysander. I dont see the government murdering its own cabinet and generals. The regime would implode if they started doing that kind of thing. Why not just sack them?
Most likely a very high up traitor did it. How he got access to the room without being successfully frisked I don’t know. Still Stauffenberg was able to bring the briefcase into the presence of the Fuhrer himself and the Nazis weren’t exactly lax on security.
@Robert:If von Stauffenberg had been a suicide bomber instead of leaving the room and leaving the briefcase behind he’d have succeeded in taking Hitler out and history would have been very different.
Quite true.

Because sacking them is asking for another Tlass situation and, on top of that, they might use their power to act against the regime. In other words: too dangerous.
Most likely a very high up traitor did it
Quite possible, I admit that.
How he got access to the room without being successfully frisked I don’t know
Well, some sources are now claiming that the bomb was placed *before* the meeting began. How likely is that?!
the Nazis weren’t exactly lax on security.
Well, that is arguable. Clearly they got complacent. Frankly, these were different times, with different threats, and its hard to compare.
Again, I am not insisting that my hypothesis (its not even a theory at this point!) is the correct one. I just have a very hard time swallowing that the regime would be so absolutely, totally, and terminally dumb. Would should have the answer withing a few days as the events unfold.
Well as a general rule never blame conspiracy for something that can be accounted for perfectly well by stupidity.
Mind you that was my view on 9/11 until relatively recently
@Robert:Well as a general rule never blame conspiracy for something that can be accounted for perfectly well by stupidity.
Yes, absolutely. I just cannot come to terms with SUCH a level of absolute imbecility I guess….
To think that I recently said that Assad was *comparatively* not as much a clown as Gaddafi or Saddam, only to see him let such a clusterf*ck happen…
One thing is sure – although its tough in many ways, somewhere it is good for Hezbollah and Iran to get rid of this deadweight
OT the Archdruid Report on peak oil and the nonsense being spouted in the corporate media that fracking technology will solve the problem.
