https://southfront.org/assad-is-destroying-last-seedlings-of-idlib-democracy/
The bloody Assad regime is threatening the last seedlings of democracy planted by Mr. al-Julani and his foreign backers in the Syrian province of Idlib.
On February 3, regime forces attacked peaceful al-Qaeda activists in the villages of Nay-rab, Tor-naba, and cut off the M4 highway west Saraqib. Idlib and Saraqib are well-known strongholds of tolerance and diversity, where vetted members of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the Turkistan Islamic Party, Horas Ad-Din and similar non-governmental humanitarian organizations operate.
Assad forces, backed up by the Russians, deployed approximately 7km from Idib city and continued developing an advance in order to outflank Saraqib from the northwestern direction. They likely seek to capture Saramin and cut off the last direct road linking Idlib with Saraqib. According to some pro-Assad sources, the army even attacked Saraqib itself.
Earlier on the same day, regime forces conducted a ‘treacherous attack’ on Turkish troops deployed near Saraqib in order to protect their local partners. In response, the Turkish Armed Forces reportedly struck over 50 regime targets ‘neutralizing’ at least 76 pro-government fighters.
Nonetheless, the young Idlib democracy remained in grave danger.
Turkish forces are now establishing additional positions near Saraqib in order to protect the town and local humanitarian activists from political repressions.
All these come amid an indiscriminate bombing campaign by the Syrian Air Force and the Russian Aerospace Forces that intentionally target armoured ambulances, weapon hospitals, underground sewing clubs and storytelling spaces recently established across Greater Idlib with assistance from Ankara.
Another point of the Assad expansionism is southwestern Aleppo. Forces of democracy are fiercely resisting the advancing Syrian Army. Nonetheless, they are slowly losing ground because of the numerical superiority of the pro-government forces.
On February 4, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the White Helmets were preparing a chemical provocation involving 200 people and 400 liters of chemical agents. The military said that the preparations were ongoing in the village of Maaret al-Artik.
Fortunately, mainstream media already denounced this as ordinary propaganda. For any real journalist it is obvious that there can be no staged chemical provocations in Syria, even if OPCW leaks scream about this. This tyrant Assad just likes using chemical weapons on video every time when his forces make important gains or are about to achieve a large victory.
Thankfully, Turkish state media and their western counterparts are always on the alert. They will be here in time to sniff Sarin or other chemical weapons from backpacks belonging to victims of the bombing. They already reported hundreds of thousands people displaced by the Assad offensive. So, there are a lot of backpacks to sniff.
While its obvious to some that this is sarcasm,to others it might appear as true. I don’t think Southfront should do reporting like that.Without at least saying in their report that it is sarcasm.
Well made with a few over-the-top points to make sure whoever failed to get it in 2020. cannot be helped anyhow.
Yes,do you think? Well said!!
I’ve heard from trusted sources that there are stink bombs in those backpacks, so warn, or train, the sniffing dogs about that most likely outcome.
Oh thank you to whoever produced this!! Absolutely fabulous!! (of course reflects our sad reality but it’s nice to laugh instead of cry once in a while) Love the storytelling sights and even topped it off with the backpacks!!!
I agree. I don’t read this site daily and after reading “peaceful al-Qaeda activists” I’m moving to something else to read. I don’t read thesaker for sarcasm.
Totally agree – – some readers will read without brain switched on.
Thank you, uncle Bob! I was among those millions that, reading the South Front and The Saker, believed ipsis literis in the article. I feel better after your clarification (I just had to go to the dictionary to understand what sarcasm means. Next time, please do not use such difficult words).
Pax et bonum!
I agree totally with that view. Only truthful reports will do. Those who refuse to believe the truth has a problem for themselves and are probably not reading Southfront anyway. It is unquestionally dangerous to report untruefully in such a way. Many believe in lies of the corporate media and state media including their intelligence agencies weaponising the press and media into psyops, falseflag event propaganda . What is taking place now is in reality promotion of state terrorism against its owen citizen, the people. So many factors have been merged as to create this superfascist state and that include hijacking of social media for these purposes as they emerged. Google was CIA, merged with Yahoo, Facebook was a conspiracy from the state run intelligence comminity, Zuckerberg taking over a Harvard emerging technology of a digital community board. Microsoft merged with the deep state as well early on to become the major corporate pc industry company and thus controllable. Microsoft has become been a main tool for the state spying agencies now also working directly for Pentagon in developing spying technologies for AI and robots officially building a cloud based data system, a naming which very much resembles the Trump Skynet he actually announced (“we are building the skynet”). Dealing with any of these or repeat their scams and propaganda is harmful to the real society and its people of which many remains in spite of the false world of the state based control mechanisms for the planned worldwide dictatorship.
Politicians are one class of beings, servants of this worldwide tyranny, now giving the corporations freedom over state nations and people via agreements between states. The UN was always a corruption of international convergence of nations over peoples, they have thus a position to bring this evil of corporate and state fascism into international acceptance and specifically run these plans. The reality is that many people has resisted this and have started protests worldwide. These protests are real, not the corporate funded mass political mercenary protesters supporting the corporate state plans, who thus take part in their own planned destruction.
I agree., I think it is too easy for sarcasm to be misunderstood, especially in a medium such as text messages on the Internet. It is sometime even difficult in a spoken face-to-face dialog. And while I would like to believe that readers and participants in The Vineyard are more perceptive than average, I fear that something like this would be quoted out of context and spread misperception and misunderstanding.
agreed this is very disturbing. They can use some sarcasm ut it should be clear that it is so. Some new person comes to SF or Saker well what to make of it?
Anyone who did not clearly see the sarcasm should probably not be venturing onto this site anyway. The odd humorous article is a great reminder of the propaganda that mainstream public, who are quite ignorant of the details, are fed. Peaceful Al Qaeda activists, very funny!
Ouch, how the vicious irony bites, and draws much blood!
Drenched in sarcasm, turning a good report into an excellent one. My favorite form of message delivery!
As shown in this article, the United States Department of State has plans to foist its brand of propaganda on Syrians through the use/misuse of media:
https://viableopposition.blogspot.com/2020/02/propagandizing-syrians-force-feeding.html
Washington is far from giving up on its nation-rebuilding/meddling experiment in Syria.
It’s that Roosky influence… ;-D
Warning for the Naive: SouthFront has firmly placed tongue-in-cheek with this report. Heavy Sarcasm.
Excellent..!
These guys “made my day”, LOL..!!! :D :D :D
Thank you, bros..! <3
Making fun of the Orwellian times we are in, i do not know if i should laugh or cry?
Sarcasm, when used sparingly sometimes serves a purpose, but in large doses it gets really annoying.
I know several people who use it regularly, and after interacting with them on their posts it is clear to me
that they are dishonest; hiding behind their irony to disguise their mendacity.
I really dont enjoy it; I stopped listening to this video early on.
Good point! Sarcasm is best when preaching to the choir.
But for a broader audience, it’s probably better to stick with a clear and factual presentation…
To all of the that’s not funny crowd: the most dangerous thing in the world is a human being lacking a sense of irony.
Maybe the most dangerous thing is people who lack a sense of humor!
In my dream world, when war is ready to break out: if only people would suddenly stop trying to stare each other down, and crack a grin, and start laughing… and then both can say, “I was just kidding!”
Hugs.
Peace.
All is resolved.
In a perfect world.
Praise Jesus! ;)
Yikes! For a second there, I thought I was reading something from CNN or MSNBC!
This will undoubtedly be represented as the literal truth by the so-called “liberal” media tools of the corporatist West. Is it too late to nominate the White Helmets for another Academy Award? I expect some Pulitzer’s for the daily slams against China’s handling of the coronavirus epidemic, not to mention the regular slanders about the agent being a botched bioweapon from a Wuhan germ warfare institute. All these furiners are so blatantly incompetent and self-destructive because they refuse to accept the largess of American hegemony… if you ask the American media.
It’s not April 1 yet!
Thankyou for this.
Not sure how they did this, but on a lively(10) to deeply monotonous(0) scale, the Southfront voice was an exceptionally high 1.
Just enough to give the game away.
I was about to fire off an angry…. What the hell is this cow manure garbage doing on The Saker.
And then I realised it was satire.
This should be shown to a few western presstitutes to see what their reaction would be, especially those from the Washington Post and The Guardian.
However given their outright fabrications and imperialist propaganda along with cheering on jihadist headchoppers, it’s not hard to guess.
Whoever wrote this peice; thanks.
April Fool! This no way matches the classic 2015 unparalleled vintage report, cauldrons of hell, of the Debaltsevo battle .
Very good report indeed! Looks like, we should now always to write in this tone, otherwise the brainwashed westerns does not even starting reading.
I’m so bored! These days, in addition to the usual well known shit, I am forced to wiriness the relentless bashing of any Chinese effort (truly Homeric in scale) to contain this latest bug… it is rapidly becoming impossible to have a working brain and live in the west.
BTW, understanding and knowing to differenciate irony, sarcasm and cynism is a sign of intelligence. Given, I keep testing my colleagues QI, I handled this text to some colleagues… none of them got it. So sad.
LOL.
Indeed, the Syrian government is threatening American’s beloved pro-democracy head-choppers like Al Nusra Front–not to mention the Al-Queda human rights organizations like the White Helmets!
The American media must work itself up into a moral lather about this latest outrage and call for a false-flag attack like the April 2018 Douma incident to gin up public outrage to support another humanitarian bombing of Syria!
Seriously though, this SouthFront article doesn’t sound much different from an American State Department communique. ;-)
I love the cutting sarcasm in this sitrep!
Bad Joke. But frustrated junk news addicts love this kind of juvenile nonsense, apparently.
In times of capitalism, widespread access to democratic information and professional fluid jornalism, this is the way I would write and like to read the news. Excellent!
This is the right way to go. In this insane media age only over the top sarcasm can show how insane the msm really is. DPA, Reuters, AFP … you really cannot trust anything they say. I also do not trust RT, CCTV etc. but at least they haven’t been caught lying yet (at least to my knowledge). Even to the smaller online channels, nothing can be really trusted; you cannot even trust most times videos or photographic evidence as this is getting easier to manipulate by the day. The only thing you can do is to be knowledgeable through your own experience and education, from science to philosophy, to weed out the most obvious lies. Fact is you have to have access to raw data, know how it was gathered and know how to generate information out of it. Most lies are not worth to be obfuscated through fabricated information, so common sense of an educated individual would be enough – but – I’ve been living in Europe for 32 years in Europe and the level of ignorance of normal folks is breathtaking. Otherwise you cannot explain how the media is getting away with major horseshit stories from Russiagate, to invasion of Ukraine, good EU, banking crisis 2008 …
For the Ukraine story, I relied heavily on the Saker to report on the state of affairs and on the ground “citizen” reporting and I do not know of any instance than the Saker was wrong – and every time he wasn’t sure he clearly stated this fact. It helps to know that the Saker is a professional in this field and knows his stuff as f.e. about the Yugoslav war.
A shame is that there are so few people, who have a track record of good analysis and reporting – though I understand, that it’s very hard and time consuming work, so that even if you are an expert, you most likely won’t commit yourself to this underappreciated work.
As with most things that are most important, they are most underrated, hard to do, underfunded and it is an open question if there will be success in your effort or not.
I always fight fire with fire, add love to love, and let the opposition make the first move.
A great demonstration of news “spin”.
I don’t think it was meant to be funny but phrases like “Assad expansionism” made me laugh.
Unfortunately this is what the masses consume day-in, day-out…a sad thought…
Oh……previous SF post taken down….was good to run it in parallel with this.
I thought the article was hilarious. Pretty solid trolling imho.
The only thing they forgot was the aerospace forces intentionally bombing puppies and kittens and babies and mommies and daddies and grandmas and grandpas (and birthday cake bakeries), while carefully avoiding heavily armed terrorist and mercenary military positions and formations.
@Josh
Hahaha! Some comments – like yours – are also hillarious!
Clearly they were targetting the underground sewing club!:)
Hahaha! Terrific! Thank you. I needed a break. However, be careful: some people may take just parts of this video to make a different point…

Assad’s destroying democracy? If only this were true!
Nice piece ; but for the reference that ” Democracy ” was being destroyed. Hugo Salinas Price { in his latest essay } in his website points out that ” Democracy” is the Worst form of Government. Look what has happened to the USA when it ” Morphed ” from a Constitutional Republic to a so called ” Democracy “.
As a person who is sickened by MSM accounts of the US terror campaign in Syria, I didn’t appreciate this article one bit. To me it read like a MSM article, full of all the lies they produce. I had no clue it was satire, or sarcasm, until I read the comments section. I much prefer the plain truth, as it is refreshing to me. I was preparing to send an email off to the Saker to let him know someone had snuck a MSM article onto his site, when the comments section opened my eyes. Still, I don’t like it, don’t see the point of it. That’s my opinion. Maybe I’ll try to lighten up.
That was my reaction.
But my post in which I expressed my opinion has been suppressed.
Hi Katherine, I cannot find your comments. Please resend. Mod.
I think the point of the satire is that those with MSM induced stupor would not be able to tell it was satire.
Thanks for the compliment.
Not.
I do not consider myself to have “MSM-induced stupor.”
And, if one cannot easily see that something is satire, it may be because so much of what is presented as news / analysis already sounds so crazy as to resemble satire, in particular what is written in the MSM about Russia/Putin/Syria/Assad/Ukraine/Venezuela/Maduro/Chavez and other targets.
As a number of commenters have in fact noted.
That is why I would not blare out negative headlines and assume that readers will continue to read.
Mods: I didn’t save what I wrote.
It just disappeared.
(Like other comments I have posted recently, on other threads.)
Indeed, recently the Saker blog has left me feeling distinctly grouchy.
Any how, I questioned the wisdom of presenting this item “straight” instead of presenting under the rubric “humor/satire.” In fact, I called the decision “stoopid.” I might also have included “WTF?”

Erdo gives 33m to Ukraine
The agreed Turkish donation to the Ukrainian military will be around $33 million. Kiev will be able to use this amount to buy military and dual-use goods from Turkey. Currently, Kiev and Ankara employ around 50 joint projects in the sphere of the military and technical cooperation.
Seems kinda silly to be giving money for military purposes when the same money’s could be better spent improving society and the citizens of that society.
Think about it, this money is going to be used to kill and maim people who will then need more money to be treated and not be able to serve in a full body role to society. Then people who would be able to provide a service to society at large will be redirected to aid the injured.
Sometimes people dont make any sense to me, and this is one of those times.
This is hilarious, specially ” underground sewing clubs and storytelling spaces recently established across Greater Idlib “.
