TEHRAN, June 30— The Supreme Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said Saturday that the Iranian nation will not give up its nuclear rights, stressing that the Western powers’ hue and cry will not have an impact on the nation’s strong determination.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the Iranian nation has shown that the government officials will enjoy public support wherever they choose the right path.
The leader said the US government has faced consecutive setbacks in the Middle East and, therefore, tries to divert the public attention from its humiliating failures.
Ayatollah Khamenei said senior US officials have made serious miscalculations in their Middle East policies and have now resorted to baseless anti-Iran accusations to conceal their mistakes.
In a meeting with members of the cabinet and the executive directors from throughout the country, the leader said that the ninth government has acted bravely in line with the objectives and values of the Islamic Revolution.
Meanwhile, a team from the UN nuclear watchdog will visit Iran on July 11-13 to discuss how to resolve questions about Tehran’s peaceful nuclear activities.
“A team consisting of the agency’s deputy director and some officials will come to Tehran to study a working plan that will answer all the remaining issues in regard to Iran’s nuclear program,” Iran’s IAEA envoy, Ali Asghar Soltanieh, told ISNA news agency.
Olli Heinonen, the UN agency’s global head of inspectors, would lead the delegation.
Does the Ayatollah have the right to speak for those in line at the gas pumps?
Are Iranians happy with their inept leaders and their economy?
why should they get bullied when 3/4 of the world owns the technology. soon the oil wells will be finished and the future generations need the nuclear technology for their countries to function but america wants to stop iran so they rely on buying the fuel etc.. from the west .
Bravo iran i have more respect for you than for those cowards in the gulf region who have begged you to give up .
No the iranians are not happy with the economy , but that will get eventually sorted , that does not mean they have to stop at improving their technological research
jaclon – I really would urge you to stop using rethorical questions as a substitute for a declaratory/affirmative statements. Besides, what does your first question really mean? You can read on about the structure of the Iranian state on Wikipedia if you truly want to understand what Ali Khamenei’s position is in Iran. As for the gas riots, I would suggest to you that they are nothing specific to Iran. All democracties have riots when a segment of the population is angry about something. In fact, if you really bothered thinking about it you would realize that these riots are a powerful insentive for the Iranian leaders to pursue a civilian nuclear program.
Alas – I know you well enough to realize that you are not in the logic and facts business, but only trying to “score” some political point, however clumsily, and try to get other to agree that “Iran bad”. That is as unsophisticated as any parroting of the Imperial propaganda will always be.
Again, I suggest that you switch of your TV or, better, throw it away, and start *reading*.
All you are achieving is embarrasing yourself.
One last thing. Please remember that you called Iran’s leaders “inept” when they beat the crap out of your Imperial forces, ok?
fatima – don’t worry, Iran will never give up. They have known for decades that they are having a major energy dilemma they need to address, the lack of refineries being only one, and they will never back down from their resolve to be economically independent. Thus their nuclear program is not up for bargain.
The Iranian economy is doing well thanks for the high prices of oil, courtesy of Dubya and his idiotic policies, but it is also suffering from many structural difficulties, not to mention the Imperial blockade. By the way, according to some well informed sources, the Pentagon and the CIA have dramatically increased their covert efforts to “strangle” Iran economically. Their terrorist campaign in support of various anti-government groups having been discovered, they are now busy with sabotaging any and all external economic ties Iran has.
