In World War I, there was a popular refrain in France and the West generally expressing sympathetic support for their gallant Serbian allies, who were standing up to combined enemy armies on the Salonica front: Pauvres Serbes… That refrain still very much resonates but is no longer exclusively confined to the moral sphere, as it largely was a hundred years ago. Today, it epitomizes the dismal overall condition of the broken Serbian nation (on that subject, more in a later dispatch). For accuracy and clarification it should undoubtedly be amended, or expanded if you will, to read Pauvre Serbie, as well.
Following three serious bloodlettings in the course of a century (World War I, with up to a third of the population missing on Armistice day in 1918, World War II, with three quarters of a million slaughtered in the genocide committed by the Nazi satellite Croatia in 1941 – 1945, and a minimum of 100,000 of the best, brightest, and most able Serbs executed and exiled on ideological grounds by the Tito regime after it was installed in 1945) present-day Serbia is the ravaged land of an exhausted, dispirited, and dispossessed people. Its ambitions are low and its defenses are down.
Serbia today is ruled by a Uganda-style madman and his coterie of venal incompetents. This sorry bunch is manifestly unfit to govern any country (African or European, or even just Balkan for that matter).
Serbia’s current regime was conceived, by all accounts, as a clever stratagem of Western intelligence services in the early years of this century. It was an attempt to politically profit from the leadership vacuum in the rabidly nationalist Radical Party, whose leader had been safely locked away at the Hague, battling trumped-up (no pun intended) war crimes charges. His two main deputies in Belgrade were correctly diagnosed as ripe for recruitment. The “main prize” (to borrow a famous meme from the Ukrainian crisis) in that particular game of thrones was formal recognition by Serbia of the NATO-sponsored “independence” of Serbia’s resource-laden province of Kosovo, with some subsequent collateral benefits such as Serbia’s humiliating incorporation into NATO, for instance.
One of the two turncoats was even lionized as Serbia’s potential De Gaulle, perhaps with the prospect of a drastically devalued Nobel Peace prize dangled before him, and just for the trifle of signing off on the Kosovo land grab, unilaterally declared under Western auspices in 2008.
The false analogy was missed by all the interested parties. For whatever reasons that concern the French alone, De Gaulle did stop the colonial war in Algeria, giving up a territory that had no link whatsoever to historical France and coming under French rule relatively recently in 1830 when in a fit of anger its tactless bey slapped a French diplomat. Kosovo, on the other hand, is the historical and cultural heartland of the Serbian nation and its Orthodox church. There is no comparison. Renouncing Kosovo would not be the meritorious act of a Serbian De Gaulle, but conjures up more precisely the treachery of Mexican president Santa Ana, when he signed the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
A small but by no means insignificant detail that was inexplicably missed by all the geniuses involved.
Hence, as Robert Burns pointed out, even the best-laid schemes of mice and men tend to sometimes go awry or be seriously delayed at any rate. So far, that exactly has been the case with the legalization of the Kosovo robbery, with its booty of mouth-watering riches. After many fumbling attempts, the Serbian regime has so far failed to come up with the correct formula to hand over Kosovo while protecting its back from the fury of the country’s public, all the while dangerously eroding the patience of the foreign sponsors who installed it and expect a return for their investment. They are still turning a blind eye to the regime’s mischief, but precisely on condition that the Kosovo issue is settled forthwith to their greedy satisfaction. (Note might be taken of the fact that all the major and still influential actors of the 1999 aggression on Yugoslavia, which resulted in NATO’s occupation of Kosovo, such as Madeleine Albright and General Wesley Clark have helped themselves to generous pieces of the Kosovo pie and are, naturally, eager to secure their ill-gotten acquisitions.)
ENTREFILET: Serbian “opposition leaders” were caught on Candid Camera in early February taking orders from US Embassy officials at the Belgrade Hilton. That strongly suggests that weekly Saturday street protests in Belgrade and towns across Serbia are foreign embassy coordinated and that “opposition” leaders are lying when they claim to be advocating for the interests of citizens. They are acting on behalf of their foreign bosses and paymasters and their task is to produce internal destabilization designed to serve foreign interests.
Serbian “opposition” taking orders at the Belgrade Hilton:
“Opposition protest leader,” actor Sergej Trifunovic, in his latest role: pow-wow with Embassy officers at the Belgrade Hilton
In a pathetic attempt to test the waters, the regime’s capo di tutti capi may have inadvertently let the cat out of the bag in a recent interview with an Italian journalist when he averred that “Serbia might legally renounce Kosovo, but only if it receives something in return.” In the wake of the popular uproar that ensued, the regime put pressure on the news agencies that quoted from the interview to drop the embarrassing phrase and explained the gaffe as a “mistranslation.” (It never occurred to anyone to ask to listen to the recording in order to easily verify that convenient claim.)
There is not the slightest doubt, however, that the Kosovo noose is rapidly tightening. Matthew Palmer, State Department official in charge of disciplining Balkan chieftains, has just made it crystal clear on March 8 that the signing of a comprehensive treaty of mutual recognition with the NATO-run narco outfit of Kosovo “is the essence” of what Serbia is expected to do, and that was not a mistranslation. There is not much wiggle room left for Serbia’s Santa Ana.
To drive the point home, Serbia’s Guaidos-in-waiting are staging weekly demonstrations (peaceful for the moment) to demand a variety of abstract-sounding democratic concessions from the regime. Significantly, demonstration organizers make no mention of the Kosovo issue, which is uppermost in the hearts and minds of most Serbs. Not to be overlooked, Belgrade just happens to be the location of the headquarters of Otpor, the Western-intelligence funded outfit famous for its leading role in organizing protests which toppled Slobodan Milosevic. Otpor is now renamed Canvas. Canvas is renting out its experience and services to their paymasters around the world, wherever a “color revolution” is deemed needed. By a huge coincidence, no doubt, Canvas was recently detected as having trained Juan Guaido personally in Belgrade as far back as 2005 and boasts of its role in Venezuela on its internet site. Add to that London Freedom House’s ominous “assessments” of the Serbian situation (e.g. “Serbia’s status declined from Free to Partly Free due to deterioration in the conduct of elections, continued attempts by the government and allied media outlets to undermine the independent journalists through legal harassment and smear campaigns, and […] de facto accumulation of executive powers that conflict with constitutional role”), and all the elements are in place for insomnia at the presidential palace.
Not to be outdone, just days ago, after visiting the imperial metropolis for “consultations,” one of the potential Serbian Guaidos, former foreign minister Vuk Jeremic, accused the regime of having already secretly committed itself to capitulate on Kosovo within weeks, hinting that this information was disclosed to him at the highest levels (never mind that Jeremic’s hypothetical regime would continue where the present regime left off). Another Guaido hopeful, Dragan Djilas, was off to Skopje to pay respects to NATO-installed local puppet and presumably his future model Zoran Zaev, gushing excitedly that being received by a statesman of such caliber was an unforgettable “honor.” With Freedom House greasing the skids for “partly fee” Serbia’s enlistment in the next axis or troika of evil, Canvas close at hand to pull off the street job, eager candidates ready to declare themselves “interim president” on Belgrade’s main square, and rumors of a “Balkan spring” in the air, for the beleaguered Belgrade officials a quick Google search for countries without an extradition treaty with Serbia would not be an entirely foolish waste of time.
Once again we see a so-called democratic state where there is no political group which reflects the hopes and desires and priorities of the people who live there.
Almost every Serb I have met has been very well-informed about what is being done to their nation.
This article is totally misleading, to put it mildly. I am Serbian, and I never heard of Stephen Karganovic? No attacking the author, breaks moderation policy. Removed. Mod.
To state that Serbia today is ruled by a Ugandan style madman is a huge insult. The name of the President is Aleksandar Vućić (Alexander Vuchich), and he is doing the best he can under the circumstances. There is no doubt he is trying to get close to Russia, but bearing in mind Serbias geo-strategic position, it is a very difficult task indeed.
Yes, Serbia is seeing anti-Government “demonstrations”. I read about them, but have yet to see them. They are small in size, organized by Western NGO’s, and run by little Guaido’s whose influence on the country is almost zero. You get trouble makers in every country. However, their “image” is boosted by the Western media to absurd proportions.
As for the phantom “Republic of Kosova”, countries are already beginning to rescind their recognition of it’s false sovereign status. It’s true name is The Serbian Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija. Not only does it hold 1.300 Orthodox churches and monasteries, it is also rich in minerals, which is the reason why you have a US military base in it, called “Camp Bondsteel”.
The phantom “Republic of Kosova” was never recognized by the UN. It is now the first narco state in Europe, acting as a conduit for Afghan heroin, brought to the Province via Camp Bondsteel. The Albanian political “establishment” in the “Republic of Kosova” is controlled by the Albanian narco mafia and the CIA, which is logical, as the CIA is earning an estimated 50 billion dollars a year from Afghan poppy fields.
Serbia will never recognize the independent status of “The Republic of Kosova”. It will be reunited with Serbia in the same way that Crimea was reunited with Russia. Of course, it will take time. And times do change, as the US Government is discovering to it’s immense surprise.
You write “I was child when Milošević went down in flames. No real understanding of this period, nonetheless, good riddance” What a silly comment. ‘Each and every one of these actions against Yugoslavia is a war crime and the war criminals include US General Wesley Clark as CO and included every single politician and government functionary, soldier, sailor, Marine and airman who in any way contributed to this war crime, be they active participants in actual combat or involved in any support of this war crime right down to and including the ordinance handlers, refuel personnel, repair personnel and everyone in between the lowest ranks to the highest ranks.’
Milosevich was a scapegoat and the only thing Milosevic was guilty of was trying to save the unity of Yugoslavia and for that they killed him. How many others has the empire killed? Too many to mention here.
My maternal and paternal grandfathers who were in America prior to WWI came with the Serbian volunteers to Salonika. My maternal grandfather was killed on the Salonika Front and is buried there with the allied dead. My paternal grandfather was next to him when he died. My paternal grandfather came back home and 20 years later lost his son, two brothers and three nephews. The village where we lived there were 7 houses each one lost a son a husband and a father.
My earliest memories are of our house burning, not flames but intense heat of hot coals from where the terrace stood. I remember hiding in a clump of trees in the field below our farm home as a single plane, which I now know was a stuka, dove screaming at the town some three kilometers away. When the war was over my father never came back, nor did the fathers of most children in our village. In the village of seven homes we lost 9 fathers.
I had an uncle in Canada who did not have children and he and my aunt adopted me, so I was able to see the crimes committed by NATO against the Yugoslav people from this side, but their main target were the Serbs. My maternal grandfather begged me, a 10 year old boy, not to go to America. I only learned later that he and others like him, like Tesla himself, were not accepted as equals but as cleaners and laborer’s just like the Central Americans today.
As Smedley Butler once said “The trouble with America is that when the dollar only earns 6 percent over here, then it gets restless and goes overseas to get 100 percent. Then the flag follows the dollar and the soldiers follow the flag”
War is a drug of choice of the American elite, and like any other addiction the only way to eliminate the criminal in the sale of drugs you must eliminate the profit. War is no different. To smash this American disease, you must eliminate the profit out of war.

seriously, please stick to the issues, not personalities, and please don’t assume that if you don’t know something or someone this is the evidence of anything besides your own lack of knowledge.

But you have heard of me. In fact I keep sending you E-Mails with links, for which you have thanked me on a number of occasions, which was very nice of you.
Yes, but you wrote to me not as “BF” but with your full name.
When it comes to author Stephen Karganovic, I am surprised that you permitted an author, probably some kind of liberal “intellectual”,
not in the least, I assure you!
to call the President of the Republic of Serbia “a Uganda-style madman”, which is anything but dignified. In fact it is a huge insult. This “madman” was visited by President Putin on two occasions. He spoke to a number of Western leaders. Perhaps in the article you would care to give a short biography of Stephen Karganovic, so that people know who this person is and one who found fit to insult the President of Serbia.
and that is fine, as long as you tackle the substance of what Stefan wrote and not him, his personality or the fact that you did not know who he was
The Saker
The substance of what Stefan wrote is schizofrenic…
In a nutshell: The CIA-organized opposition is trying to topple the CIA-installed government.
And that is exactly the case. CIA controls the whole theater called Serbian politics, all parties of any importance.
Do you think it matters which party wins in the US, btw?
The first sentence is a conjecture. The second is a strawman.
Most political parties throughout the world are influenced by inteligence agencies, but there is no reason to think that CIA is the only player in the Balkans.
@ Z
… ” cia-organized opposition … vs … cia-installed government …_
Yes , that is exactly happening.
One should not forget that Serbia is ocuppied teritory. Begining from year 2000.
Serbia is not in position to make proper decisions in its favour.
Decisions are made against prosperity of country ,
according to instructions, orders from foreign masters.
Everything is done to destroy spirit of serbian nation.
As masters well know that they can not attack russia , leaving serbia behind , and not as nato member. And serbia has to surrender , surrounded by nato members.
So , serbian cia_installed politicians for twenty years repeat and repeat :
entering EU has no alternative. And that would be end of serbia .
But to enter EU , serbia first and foremost has to accept and declare free kosmet.
And under such pressure and forced orders , politicians cia installed , completed almost 99% of what was ordered to them.
But only yet , just to sign indepenedence of kosmet. Kosmet in UN.
And it is not signed yet , and masters are in a hurry.
Their powers are weakening , time is running out , and their job not completed yet.
Masters increase pressure to installed politicians to sign it.
So cia organized opposition to deliver warning to position in government
to sign , as was agreed when cia installed all previous governments in serbia.
To show politicians that they are replaceable , if they do not sign.
Just another friendly warning from cia.
There are many colors , coloured revolutions , and false flag operations awaiting.
– Serbia is one of the very few European countries that has not joined the sanctions on Russia.
– Serbia is one of the very few European countries that has not joined NATO.
– Serbia has not yet joined EU (and probably never will).
– Serbian government is actively working to persuade other countries to withdraw their recognition of Kosovo (so far, 12 or 13 countries have already withdrawn this recognition).
– Serbian government is open to all foreign investments, but ALL of strategic investments (resources, energy, transportation) have been awarded to Russia and China.
– Serbian diplomatic relations with Russia and China are much more cordial than those with the west.
So, where exactly are those 99% of completed orders…and why does the government that is “controlled” need to be put under pressure by those who controll it? It makes no sense.
“– Serbia is one of the very few European countries that has not joined the sanctions on Russia.”
Agreed.
“– Serbia is one of the very few European countries that has not joined NATO.”
But trains more with NATO than CST. When we train even with Russian Ministry of Emergency Situation and utilize their help during emergency situations, when NATO is nowhere to be seen btw, they criticize it as an increase in cooperation and demand they get more on those grounds.
“– Serbia has not yet joined EU (and probably never will).”
I have not heard Vucic denouncing this in clear terms. I remember though some of ministers repeating join, join as a mantra.
“– Serbian government is actively working to persuade other countries to withdraw their recognition of Kosovo (so far, 12 or 13 countries have already withdrawn this recognition).”
Those countries have just realized that major global reshuffling is in order and are aligning their foreign policies in line with Russia and China. Those withdrawn recognitions i attribute more to this factor than anything else.
“– Serbian government is open to all foreign investments, but ALL of strategic investments (resources, energy, transportation) have been awarded to Russia and China.”
We are wasting precious time. We need to jump on board with One Belt One Road. Instead of that we are wasting time with western “investments” and IMF “loans” which are just means of plunder.
“– Serbian diplomatic relations with Russia and China are much more cordial than those with the west.”
More cordial? I want it to be more brotherly. The West is not allowing that on both accounts.
“So, where exactly are those 99% of completed orders…and why does the government that is “controlled” need to be put under pressure by those who control it? It makes no sense.”
I will try here to account for some of those 99%. How about making all non primary functions in public institutions ready meat for privatization. In which case we will get more or less service plus many more “right” people around which we will have to pay extra and those people are in majority cases in way of accomplishing anything anywhere because of the social inertia they generate. In short, allowing economic plunder of his own country while trying to appease his masters to let him keep the chair. Remember the Law of Work from 2014? Have you read it? Have you noticed how over the top employer rights have increased on account of worker rights? This is just the latest installment.
Regarding Putin awarding Vucic Order of Saint Alexander Nevsky. We know that award is given to the people of Serbia, not Vucic. It could only be awarded to him as a reminder for what he need to stand for. Putin have met with Erdogan and Orban. However, neither of them was awarded due to the historical and cultural differences, to put it mildly, which is understandable. Even when we know what Turkey did to Russia. Putin speaks with Vucic and is offering cooperation, not help.
Is Vucic’s policy good or bad? Looking from the inside, very. Looking from the outside you only look at his foreign policies and say, well he has not put up sanctions on Russia and something along those lines. Well if he did that, than he would risk possible discontent from the people. Although he is allowing plunder his masters want more. Add nepotism to the extreme, ineffectual and bloated bureaucracy, corruption to the level of almost being institutionalized, have i mentioned blocked courts?… and you get the picture. People are already discontent and it would not be wise to aggravate them more. So, now he try to portray himself, once more, as a patriot. CIA wants his overthrow so he must be a good guy now? Wrong.
He is a guy that CIA made and brought to power. Let us not forget here British,German and Vatican assets which all want a piece of pie. He is now a guy that is designated to go by them. Only thing to be decided yet is who gets what in the Next Great Plunder and of lesser importance who, so long he is the right man, will be next president/PM and how we install him? In that kind of scenario you start to strengthen yourself on all fronts. First of all social, economic and military. His measures are not in line with the level of need we have in current situation.
We have Wahhabi element in Bosnia,Raska, and Kosmet. Muslim Brotherhood in Kosmet vying for supremacy there with Wahhabi element due to the lessening of control from their Hegemon. Add to that historical experience what happens with Albanians when they happen to find themselves in such environment and you will see that you would need to find a precedent not to expect escalation of violence.
We need to stand up and stand tall with our brothers and sister all over the world! What i see is our president allowing us to be robbed of our future with a possible legalization of Kosmet which looms over us us a carrot. I shudder to imagine what could be the stick.
An Orsis 5000 might come in handy there.
I am Serbian, I know of Stefan Karganovic, and what he says is spot on and and very well written.
Maja
I am afraid the article is misleading. It is anything but totally accurate.
Stefan Karganivic did more defending Srebrenica case in our, serbian favor, than you can imagine. So if you never heard of him tells me a lot, but not about SK but about you. Yes, he is very much qualified to call that miserable coward acting as current president of Serbia’s leftovers by any name that he wants.
Преки
Stephen Karganovic cannot possibly be the only one who defended the Srebrenica case. I can give you a whole list of names, including Stephen Lendman, the well known American analyst, who wrote two excellent articles on the sham trials of Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, including what really happened in Srebrenica. I myself sent Internet links of those two articles to numerous addresses, one of which was the address of Canadian Major General Louis Mackenzie, former member of UNPROFOR for the territory of the former Yugoslavia. The good General confirmed to me the accuracy of Stephen Lendman’s articles.
In case you don’t know, the Republic of Srpska has created an international Commission which will ascertain the true facts surrounding Srebrenica. One of the members of the Commission is Professor Gideon Greif, the Chief Researcher of The Holocaust Institute in Israel. Professor Greif has recently written an excellent and extremely documented book on the concentration camp of Jasenovac. As you can see, many people are involved with the Srebrenica case, and not just the gentleman you mentioned.
Much of the truth could be revealed if they get complete Bosnian Muslim military records for Srebrenica, Zepa and Tuzla especially.
Several independent researchers say most all the bodies are from those who died BEFORE the fall. There was over 3 years of fighting, skirmishes, ambushes, battles, mine accidents, even mafia/black market infighting and general crime.
It is known they do claim soldiers who died years earlier as Srebrenica “fall” victims because Serbs did find some records from 1993 left behind. And all the soldiers who died back in 1993 after some fighting were ALL – each and every one – being claimed as victims of the fall in July 1995.
The entire Bosnian Muslim command in Srebrenica left in April 1995 – three months before the fall – and they never went back. So the top commanders were all pulled out.
Then, the day before the “fall”, the brigade commanders ordered all the soldiers off their defenses which were “strong” and “all around” Srebrenica, according to a former soldier who was settled in the U.S. and interviewed for a book.
He says that the men were ordered to go to a certain place in Srebrenica’s north, then at nightfall they started leaving in single file columns. The ground (up to 18,000) was too large to leave at once, so they left in three shifts. The first group left around 9:00 p.m., while his group didn’t get started until several hours later.
It was an arranged fall.
The Dutch soldiers did not see any killing, nor did the Serbs attack the Dutch, who continued to man their northern stations even after the fall.
“Everything faded into mist. The past was erased, the erasure was forgotten, the lie became the truth.”
George Orwell – 1984
Personal opinion as many Serbs probably feel quite different.
I don’t mind the present Serbian authority, as they seem to be slightly less corrupt than their predecessors.
To those of us with Kosovo and Metohija in our hearts and minds, this issue trumps all others. The reality of the situation is that we will never militarily free our land. We are small, the Empire is too powerful, and Russia will not risk a conflict over Serbia. The only thing we have on our side is time. And a long time has passed, 20 years. In these 20 years, our thieving politicians have managed to stall the Empire.
The Empire simply does not understand the duality of Serbian character. That we are capable of henios crimes and heroism all the same.
I was child when Milošević went down in flames. No real understanding of this period, nonetheless, good riddance.
He was replaced by people who stole everything that wasn’t nailed down. However, for all their faults, including some bad deals with respect to occupied territory, they did not recognize its independence. They kept promising action to the Empire, while at the same time not really doing anything and using the opportunity to enrich themselves.
The Empire eventually got wise and replaced them. And what happened? 7 years of exact same thing.
It seems that time has come for the present authorities to fulfill the task for which they were brought to power. The Empire’s patience is running out. The current government has been using the Empire’s backing to enrich themselves, albeit, slightly less brazen than the previous ruling coalition.
Soon, they will have to make a choice, Serbia or the Empire. Recognition of NDK, or loss of elections. A chance to continue being a conductor of a trainwreck, or certain death. Make no mistake, people are poor, humiliated daily, and angry. Recognition of NDK will result in an explosion of rage. The politicians know this. My guess is, they do the same as the previous government. They retire to their riches. Nobody cares so long as they do not recognize Kosova as an independant state. Nobody cares what anyone from the previous government is doing with their life now.
They will be replaced by new Empire installed puppets. The cycle will continue.
My own feelings about this is that all is foregiven, so long as they do not recogize the NDK as an independant state. I don’t care about anything they stole, any humiliation they bring to the nation, or any of their personal political or sexual preferences. They have one mission. Stall the Empire with empty promises until you are replaced.
Also, this not a strictly religious issue. To a lot us, Kosovo and Metohija is a holy land. However, even to a Serbian atheist, it is perfectly clear that the recognition of so called Kosova will result in the rest of our country being swiftly chopped up into little bits. It will set a legal precedent for any piece of Serbia, such as Vojvodina, to obtain independence.
“3 major blood lettings” don’t include the Yugoslav wars? More people died then he claims died of the ‘very bad Tito regime.’ I’ve lived in Belgrade for a year. I don’t think 20th century communism was anything but a strange accident of history, more permanent war cabinet with indefinite martial law than dogmatically ideological state. I meet two kinds of people, those that say life under Tito was pretty good, obviously way better than today, and these weird fantasists who support the chetniks, who *never accomplished anything*. These guys seem to think that being a small homogenous country is better than it was being one of europe’s most powerful countries, I guess they get off on the homogeneity so much that they don’t mind being a whipping post for great powers, as every small country is. Of course I’d say let all of the balkans fall under a russian tsar and be organised along the logic of the old Russian local village cooperative ((obschina/mir), which in many ways would resemble Tito’s Jugoslavia, but obviously that isn’t in the cards.
“These guys seem to think that being a small homogenous country is better than it was being one of europe’s most powerful countries”
Maybe, but I don’t think the Chetniks of WWII were thinking that way.
They were fighting for a multi-ethnic country called The Kingdom of Yugoslavia which already existed before Tito seized power.
During Tito’s time people were still leaving for other countries to work – many in Yugoslavia were working in Germany as gastarbeiters, while still others were emigrating to other countries because Yugoslavia wasn’t that great.
Tito and his regime stole homes and property from the Serbs – and to this day their are property issues due to having to find the descendants of the original owners who are now living in other countries.
The Communists also destroyed many industries such as Serbia’s wine industry. The destroyed private ownership and held quantity over quality.
They also scared Serbia and other parts of Yugoslavia with the horrible Tito-era “architecture”. Just eyesore after eyesore.
There were mass murders of Serbs, Slovenes and Croats by the Communists and it was they who had a policy of “weak Serbia, strong Yugoslavia”.
They were the ones who cared out autonomous areas from Serbia – an anti-Serb move not approved by the Serbian people. They also allowed Albanians to illegally migrate to Kosovo and suppressed news of Albanian violence against Kosovo Serbs in the “interest of Brotherhood and Unity”.
The communists also had initial plans to give Kosovo to Albania. This was even discussed with Stalin shortly after the war. This is probably why they prevented K-Serbs, who’d been cleansed during WWII, from returning to their property.
Tito himself never expected Yugoslavia to last after he died, and changes made to Yugoslavia’s constitution in 1974, and other measures, helped position it to break up.
What a disgrace these rats are,its time for the Serbs to stand up and be counted,it started to go wrong years ago when those quislings in Belgrade turned their people over to that Nato/Nazi Kangeroo Court in the Hague, there should also have been a war of resistance in Kosovo,Nato should have been attacked, call it KFOR or whatever you like its an occupation force.
@ Englishman
As far as military resistance to the machinations of its enemies, Serbia is in an unenviable position.Serbia has no exit to the sea and is completely surrounded by NATO member states. So how will it establish supply lines from friendly nations to sustain prolonged military activity? North Korea borders China and Russia and has exits to two seas, Vietnam borders China and has a coastline – so those countries were able to fight superior forces for a long period. And during WWI and WWII, Serbia/Yugoslavia had powerful allies engaged in the war who were offering assistance. I’m afraid the situation is not favourable at the moment for Serbia as far as military action is concerned. Still, it may be forced into it regardless because of unsolved problems resulting from the breakup of Yugoslavia.
From what i have seen the Serbian Governments since the War in Kosovo have recognized the organs of occupation,Serbia shouldn’t even be talking to them, they should be treated as a occupation force because thats what they are.
@ Englishman
I agree. Serbia should not be negotiating with anybody, EU included, on the question of Kosovo. But they took the question out of the UN and that’s how it is now.
“North Korea borders China and Russia and has exits to two seas, Vietnam borders China and has a coastline – so those countries were able to fight superior forces for a long period.”
Vietnam and North Korea were both continually receiving weapons from Russia and China and the Russian and Chinese weapons factories were not under threat.
Further, they had much larger populations than Serbia.
Meanwhile, Russia halted delivery to Serbia of anti-aircraft systems it had already paid for because of sanctions.
Russia obeyed the western sanctions against Serbia, yet it was heavily supplying the Croats (direct flights to one of Croatia’s islands specifically set up for weapons deliveries) and Bosnian Muslims (through middleman Slovenia) during those wars.
A well written article. We will have to agree to disagree on certain points.
I have been following the talks between Belgrade and Pristina and the only reasonable conclusion to me is that these talks have been designed to FAIL. Both parties are quislings to the empire. If the overlords had indicated that they wanted an agreement we would have had one already.
Instead both have held on to their maximalist demands and Pristina even slapped a 100% tariff rise on goods from Serbia. March 8th deadline came and went, and nothing happened.
There will never be an agreement between Kosovo and Serbia because that would pave the way for BOTH countries to enter the EU and this would mean Camp Bondsteel, the biggest US military base in Europe, a regional military hub, a center for drug smuggling, torture and who knows what else, would fall under the political and judicial control of the EU.
As for the protests in Serbia, I believe they have nothing to do with Kosovo but rather to show Vucic that he better not get too cosy with Chinese or the Russians. Serbia is gearing up for their extension of the Turkstream pipeline, China is buying steel plants and opening banks in Belgrade. Serbia has been the main recipient of Chinese and Russian investment in Europe. In view of this situation is it any wonder there is talk of a colour revolution in Belgrade…?
Serbian girl
Yes, you are right. Those “demonstrations” in Belgrade are the work of Western NGO’s, who are trying their luck at a color revolution against President Vucic because of his advances towards Russia and China. Won’t work. As I wrote in my comment above, I heard of these “demonstrations”, yet I still have to see them, as they are so small in size. Please stop attacking the author. Any further will go to trash. Mod.
What is wrong with some Serbs where they see Russia as the problem?it wasn’t Russia that bombed Serbia or 78 days.
@ Englishman
…. what is wrong with some serbs … when they see rusia as problem …
Well ,
wrong with them is that they are cia agents , and/or mi6 , and/or bnd agents
and/or any other agency that gives them cheap money , or blackmail them.
So their actions are ordered by their masters who are real enemies of rusia.
And they should not be called serbs.
They are just hired hands , traitors , paid to destroy their motherland.
Well we know how traitors should be dealt with when they work for Countries that attacked their own Country.
@ Englishman
… ” how traitors should be dealt ” …
Yes , that is big painfull question of present mankind.
There is no morality , honesty , sincerety , bravery in present men.
Who would do such a clean_up of mankind ?
How to get rid of traitors ? Who would do it ?
Presenty masters of world placed dense net of traitors all over world.
In each counrty of world. Thousands and thousands of them. Milions.
In all levels , complete structure of governments , army, police , education, economy, health , sport , every possible position is covered , observed , directed.
All inteligence agencies throughout world are in duty to monitor , select , find and lead traitors and put them to work for world masters.
And now , how to remove that net from life of men ? Who could do it ?
I only hope there is answer , and there are people ( to be borned ? )…
I disagree, Serbian girl. On the contrary, the “talks” are just for show, a second rate theater for the Serbian population. The goal is independence of “Kosovo”, and for that, you need an official recognition by Serbia. The talks are nonexistant, everything is already agreed upon by Serbian authorities, which means all that is left to be done is to boil the frog – to make Serbian population accept independence.
@ Serbian girl
… ” these talks have been designed to fail … both parties are quislings ” …
Yes ,
those any talks , and all past present and future talks are meaningless , worthless.
Only signature is important.
Serbia to surrender , sign kosmet pass to UN.
Game level one over.
…. ” both parties are quislings ” ….
Yes , they are playing games , good cop , bad cop.
Smoke curtain.
While people are trying to figure out who of them is right or wrong , they are only trying to find a way to secretly sign independence of kosmet , while poeple are busy looking other way , following stories of meaningless talks and negotiations.
… ” 100 % tariff rise of goods grom serbia ” …
Just another smoke cloud. Worthless talks , worthless negotiations.
Kosmet shiptars would starve to death without goods from serbia. They know it.
Why would shiptars allow their leader increase tariffs and let them die , if it is important. Shiptars are drug dealers and can pay some additional increase.
But question of tariffs is unimportant. Just smoke cloud , empty talk.
If you have goods valued 100 units , and add 5% tariffs , value is 105. If you increse tafiff 100% , value of goods is 110 units. Is it such big deal , big increse ? From 105 to 110 ?
Worth international advisers many visits to kosmet and asking on knees to kosmet dealers to decrease tariff ,
and world comunity will be happy , great diplomatic achievment , success ,
and so serbs can sign independence of kosmet in UN , as sign of good will.
Well , we , west , persuaded kosmet shiptars to decrease customs tariffs ,
only after west advised them to increase tariffs , in first place ,and make nice cloud ,
so EU could excresise its strength of persuasion against firm kosmet drug dealetrs.
… ” existance of bondsteel military base ” …
Capacity of bondsteel military base is estimated to 20000 personnel , but presently it is just about 600 special operations , intelligence teams , psy op officers.
But place , in middle of serbia , is important beyond its capacity.
Base observes roads to middle east , communications ,
and after serbia surrender , and kosmet is accepted in un ,
nato could easilly install missile launchers against rusia in bondsteel base.
To complete attacking line from north , from launchers in poland , then central launchers in romania , and southern launchers from bondsteel. Line completed.
… ” to show vucic that ” …
He has to fullfill his promise and sign indipendence of kosmet in un. As he promised.
That is why usa placed him in position of president. To sign capitulation of serbia.
And he completed 99,99 % of what was asked from him , but only signature left.
So they remind him that he has to complete his promise. Or else , color revolution.
And they will find somebody else to sign it.
… ” chinese and rusian investments in serbia ” …
Presently , those figures are so small , not worth mentioning.
Several bilion dolars is pocket money , compared to serious investments.
Rusia and china have yet to show their real intentions , and real strength.
To pass over EU and usa blockings and stoppings of their intentions.
But they hardly done something. Altough their real investment would be important.
What Vucic and his fellows are doing is just a charade, there is no substance in it. They try to look as patriots but in fact they work for the Western enemies of Serbian people. Western enemies allowed them to overtake the power from the previous marionettes (who also were hired by the Western enemies). Stephen is spot on when he calls them incompetents.
The natural resources wealth of Kosovo wouldn’t be of much benefit to either the Serbs or Kosovars regardless of how the question of Kosovo is resolved. Politicians of all colours have been selling off the resources within Serbia itself to foreign interests and the Serbian people have just been impoverished in the process, as have the Albanians in Kosovo. So at least as far as the question of the mineral wealth goes it makes no difference to whom it officially belongs on a map.
@ Commentator Mike
Yours is very nice description of colonial rule over overseas colonies , for centuries..
…. ” natural resources wealth of kosmet ” …
Well , amount of wealth is estimated to 500 billion usď , in real ore , minerals ,
so it is not just pocket paper money to support declining usa economy .
usa did not start war with serbia for couple of $ , they calculated gains , 500 bil of them. … Ready to start a war for such a gift , among other stollen gifts.
…. ” politicians of all colours have been selling off resources … to foreign interests ..
Yes , it is typical colonial government policy. Colonial masters installs government in some colony , and with their help extracts real minerals , gold , diamonds , for some coloured printed papers called money. Worthless paper money for valuable gold.
It can be called selling resources , but more approprite term would be roberry.
If 1$ is really valued 1 cent , would you call it fair trade ?
… ” as far as question of mineral wealth goes it makes no difference to whom it officially belongs on a map , …” …
Well , this is a kind of broad minded opinion about ownership. We are all owners.
If i sell some country 100.000 tons of coal , it is different if buyer pays to my bank account , or somebody else account.
It is also different if buyer pays with worthless paper money , or does not pay at all. It is different to ” buyer” = colonial owner. Used to get everything for free.
usa does not need to pay anything to installed politicians in kosmet.
That is why usa wants kosmet as independent state. Colonial drug clans dealers.
If not so , why would usa start war with serbia if not for dividends in real ores , minerals.
Of course , mineral wealth of kosmet is just one level of interests ,
there are also upper level interests , geo strategic importance of kosmet ,
so usa installed enormous military base in occupied serbia. Unwanted base.
Bondstill base , presently in kosmet. Stronghold base of colonial masters
There are also other upper level interests , usa strategists know it…worth a war.

“… Serb. Ana Brnabiћ …”
In Serbian it is Ана Брнабић, not “Ana Brnabiћ” (!)…
Thank you for the correction. Errare humanum est.
Vucic seems to be OK, but maybe I’m a bit confused.. I know he gave Putin an adorable Yugoslavian Shepherd puppy on his visit to Belgrade recently. A heart warming gift..
And Putin awarded Vucic with Order of Alexander Nevsky.
http://tass.com/world/1040524
I guess nobody informed Putin that he was giving this prestigeous order to “Uganda-style madman.”
Mr Putin and Russian government knows very well who Vucic and his gang of ministers are and for whom they working for. Vucic’s main adviser is no other than Tony Blear. Vucic’s adviser for reforming the police is no other then Amadeus Watkins the MI6 agent. Vucic’s defense minster is drug addict with not much education who never served in armed forces. Vucic’s minister for internal affairs is tiler by trade. Vucic’s brother Adrija is capo di tuti with very close ties with Albanian mafia. And the list goes on.
Mr Karganovic assessment is spot on.
If you say so, it must be true.
Now all you have to do is sell that to the rest of Serbian population and you are good to go.
Good luck
Well Russia never lent support to Serbia when Milosevic was still President. Russia could have delayed or staved off his fall.
Instead Russia was actually threatening to cut off Serbia’s gas for its debt at a very crucial time – during the elections and the run-off.
Russia also didn’t help Serbia rebuild after the NATO bombing stopped in June 1999. There were almost 16 months when Russia could have helped ameliorate NATO’s wounds on Serbia – and done with weapons and military ostensibly developed to attack the U.S.S.R. and Russia. So Serbia was suffering by an organization made against U.S.S.R. with Russia at the core.
“… I guess nobody informed Putin that he was giving this prestigious order to “Uganda-style madman.” …”
I think that Putin is informed quite well indeed, and is full well aware with whom he is dealing. Here as elsewhere, he is just being a diplomat par excellence.
Arguing that granting that medal somehow shows Putin’s regard for Vućić, has no more value than arguing that the sign “In God We Trust” on a U.S. dollar bill proves that God exists…
https://www.telegraf.rs/english/2957108-vucic-on-victory-parade-in-moscow-putin-placed-our-president-right-next-to-him-and-one-gesture-showed-how-much-he-appreciates-serbia-photo-video
NOTE: Vucic was the *only invited* foreign head of state on last year’s Victory Parade in Moscow. Netaniahu was also there, but he was more like self-invited.
“… the *only invited* foreign head of state on last year’s Victory Parade in Moscow. …”
(!)
You still don’t “get” it, do you.
Are you saying that Putin symbolic gesture is two-faced and without any value ?
… from foreign heads of the State, only Vucic and Lukashenko are honored with this award.
Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill too.
However, i understand your perspective: Us- les pauvres Serbes- we were so badly beaten in the past that in present , we trust nobody !
“A burnt child dreads the fire.”
@ Vida
Of course, this shallow symbolism is “two-faced” indeed, by definition, as you yourself realise, but it is not necessarily “without any value”. Behind is that grand game of geopolitics, too much being at stake here to leave any stone unturned. It all shows how strategically important Serbia is for Russia, the fact definitely not lost on Putin The Diplomat. Quisling Vučić & his gang of criminals and homosexuals will eventually be gone, but any deals Putin manages to smooth through today may have a lasting effect.
Why is “Quisling Vučić” playing along?
I agree with you, Z.
To call A.Vucic traitor and “Uganda style mad-man” is simply not true.
Vucic is trying everything in his power to save whatever he can in Serbia. As you pointed out, Serbia is occupied country ( probably since WW2) and foreign and malevolent factors are well established in Serbian deep state.
So far, Vucic and his government (including positively surprising Ana Brnabic) did more than I expected !
Also, given the volume and importance of Russians investment in Serbia and Republic Srpska(Serbs from Bosnia) i have no doubt that Russians will protect those assets. Therefore, i expect Russians to enter Serbia and build some kind of military presence somewhere this year, the latest 2020.
Serbs will welcome Russians with open arms .
Our only friend & ally is Russia !
Stefan Karganovic carried out essential work with his “Istorijski Projekat Srebrenica” (Historical Project Srebrenica) in breaking the taboo in Serbia numerous years ago of even discussing this issue. People have short memories, but the media atmosphere in Serbia a decade ago was very different to what it is today on those TV channels often described as “pro-Vucic” (Happy & Pink) that allow for a discourse on issues vital to Serbian national life. When Karganovic began campaigning for the truth about the alleged Srebrenica ‘genocide’ to be exposed, practically no one else in Serbia would touch this issue. For those that do not know, the allegation that Serbs committed ‘genocide’ in Srebrenica in 1995 was to be the basis for a number of actions at the UN SC, & International Criminal Court, where Serbia & Rep. Srpska were to be declared sponsors of genocide. Karganovic later on did very valuable work on exposing a plot to conduct a CIA/MI6 color revolution in Rep. Srpska to oust Milorad Dodik. Karganovic’s depiction of Vucic is slightly strong in my opinion, but there is no question that Vucic was placed in power in Serbia for the primary reason of officially surrendering Kosovo-Metohija through formal recognition of its independence. The US/UK & other Atlanticist allies are currently preparing to potentially oust Vucic from power if he ends up refusing to recognize Kosmet, which he may refuse to do on the grounds that the implications for him domestically could outweigh any threats that the West are able to hold over him. The Balkans are a major flashpoint now in a potential confrontation between the US & Russia, & Serbia is in for a period of severe provocation & pressure to ensure that it breaks all ties with Russia – which Serbia will never do.
Serbia is at least 20-30 years under strong provocation & pressure from the West to ensure that it breaks all ties with Russia . Did not work. This circus now is the last desperate grasp of the dying West to try to save any piece of pie in the Balkans.
We all know – the western hegemony is dead.
Vida, no less than 30. Just like the rest of Balkans. The biggest damage was/is done by the ones who claim themselves to be communists. They are the devoted “anti-patriotic multi-tulti’s”
@ Vida
… ” under strong provocation & pressure from west to ensure that it breaks all ties with rusia ” …
I like your positive attitude in your opinions ,
but reality in serbia is quite different.
Much more complicated. Ties with rusia , complicated. Not good enough.
There is difference in government ties , and ties among common people.
Large number of rusians originted from serbs.
And rusians know that. And west knows that.
So west wants serbs and rusians to discontinue that bond , of one tribe.
To left separete parts of former one tribe less ready for defence , resistance.
West does not want that genetic conections to be remembered ,
so they work on separating serbs and rusians. Spiritual connection to be broken.
First , easiest step is dividing them. Separating them. Starting with economic sanctions serbia has to declare against rusia , like other european countries.
EU countries easily obeyed usa orders for sanctions.
Easy for them , they are not relatives , brothers and sisters, as serbs and rusians.
But serbia delays , at least officially. But under pressure from usa , serbia did mimimise potential economic exchange with rusia to some 10% level of possible trade. So it is form of economic sanctions, anyway.
Serbia has opened doors to export to rusia , but serbia does not exploit it, because orders from usa forbid it. No trade with rusia. Make customs papers delay , or so..
So pressure from west did work on installed government in serbia.
… ” last desperate grasp of dying west “…
Highly likely it is not last desperate grasp , unfortunately. West is not dying yet , maybe declining in power , but still there are many tricks to be played , many people will suffer in years to come , economic crises to happen. And BIG war awaiting…
… ” west to try to save any peace of pie in balkans ” …
West has all peaces of pie in former yugoslavia , and former warsaw pact countries. They are all in nato. Job almost completed , and ready to go to war on rusia.
Also , there is no balkans , there is not such state , it is teritory of yugoslavia.
CIA is shy to mention yugoslavia , so they invented new diplomatic term balkan.
West desintegrated yugoslavia , made horrible civil war there , and now wants to form some reunated balkan counrty on very same borders of former yugoslavia.
Desintegrate _ war _ integrate _ peace _ with help of new military base.
Resulting enormous usa military base in kosmet , on teritory of serbia.
Bondstill base in serbia , as gift to now occupied serbs ,
and outcome of usa war against serbia.
So , it is too , too early to say … western hegemon is dead.
The worst is behind us, Beli Orlu.
With each passing day, we are getting stronger and the West is getting weaker.
USA is deeply divided, plagued by internal problems. Same goes for EU, and in a few years from now, EU will not exist . ( Brexit, Yellow vests in France, Spain and Catalonia, rebellion of Hungary, nationalism raising in Italy and Germany, etc)
NATO is faced with opponents waaaay too strong to go against them (China+ Russia+ India). NATO is still barking, but they are not biting.
They are losing on all fronts , In Syria, Venezuela, Ukraine+ Crimea, etc.
Whole wide world is divided, even the citizens and communities.
The truth is unstoppable and that is the only reality.
PS : 10 years ago, we didn’t know that Russians are actually of Serbian origin. Today, we know…you see how fast our reality is changing.
@ Vida
Yes , i like your line of positive thinking , but timeline is not ready yet.
Destiny ? Of present serbs.
… ” worst is behind us ” …
In fact , worst is in front of us.
West is expecting serbia to sign independence of kosmet , by june this year.
Like reminder of kosovo battle , in june 1389 , turks , former nato in those years.
During bombing serbia in 1999 nato tried to conquer serbia. But failed. Nato infantry tried , with all their effects , force , skill and warpower to enter serbia from albania , but could not pass. Serbia had army then. But now , serbian army is capable of role of firefighter , civilians help in earthquakes or so , not defender.
Serbian army is disarmed since usa occupied serbia in 2000 , after colour revolution. And usa completed task that could not do with nato army force.
Nato officers use one complete floor in the middle of serbian general_stuff building.
No trace of rusian officer nearby.
But nato now created kosovo army , to threaten weakened , disarmed , serb army.
And creation of nato_kosovo army was accepted by installed serbian government as finished act , altough against orders of resolutiin 1244 unsc. It just passed.
… ” with each passing day we are getting stronger , and nato is getting weaker …”
We could say ,
with each passing day serbia is getting weaker and weaker
, and maybe , maybe , nato is slowly getting slightly weaker …
Serbia is under very dark cloud of psy operations from all around.
Surrounded by nato countries , and in heart of serbia , usa military base , bondsteel, with batalion of intelligence and psycholgs teams ,
to orchestrate attacks on zombified serbs. Economically destroyed serbia.
Cia installed government , cia agents in army , police , education , economy.
One can not forget when president Putin came to belgrade in january this year, he was not wellcommed with bread and salt , traditional serbian welcome
, but when several months before , when nato secretary stoltenberg came , he was wellcommed with bread and salt. And Putin wore protective armour coat in belgrade
… in a few years from now , eu will not exist ” …
Well , it would be nice if one of points of pressure against serbia desintegrate , but serbian government is still working under orders from eu , as if eu will exist. Serbia fullfils orders in favour of kosmet , altough even they know eu might cease to exist.
… nato is faced with opponents way too strong against … ”
Well , serbia is not among those strong ones, serbia is occupied , it is difference.
And strong ones have their own plans of impotance . other agendas.
serbia has to find internal strength to fight for itself , but that inside power for resistance and battle is not activated yet , and time is passing by wery quckly , beside zombified serbs.
…. nato is still barking , but they are not biting ” …
Well ,
for occupied serbs even barking is enough to surrender kosmet ,
as actions of cia installed government is proving. They give away more then asked.
Do not forget that prime minister ana brnabic worked in usaid , civilian department of cia.
So , serbs can only say … In God we trust …
“Serbia has opened doors to export to rusia , but serbia does not exploit it, because orders from usa forbid it.”
Well it was the Milosevic government that signed the free trade deal with Russia but this was only a few months before he was overthrown in the coup and the puppet government installed.
So Serbia never got to take advantage of it under a (not complete) puppet government.
Also corrupt Serbian companies have sabotaged some of Serbia’s exports by allowing Polish or some other country’s apples/fruit/etc. to be exported to Russia through it. Russia found out and then would take counter measures.
I don’t understand why Serbs would “shoot themselves in the foot” for non-friendly countries such as Poland (which “recognized” the theft of Kosovo).
Mr. Karganovic has provided an honest and sobering analysis of Serbia’s compradore political class. Saker, you have my sincere gratitude for providing a forum to honestly and openly discuss the realities, this long suffering nation faces. I thank you and the mods, for not allowing the delusional followers of fabricated ethnicities, to spew their falsehoods as they did in “The other Ukraine” . There’s already plenty of comments from those previously indoctrinated and tragically misinformed, to parse through.
Before I directly address the current political misery, it’s important that readers understand why Serbia faces this current level of subversion and betrayal. No European peoples , save a few, could even begin to comprehend the centuries of abuse and aggression, the Serbian people have endured, from outside aggression. And fewer still could exhibit a fraction of their courage.
The lands of southeastern Europe have always been the desire of expanding empires. No land has been more contested in human history. Serbia, being the gateway between all great powers. The problem for these aggressors has always been the same, those damn Serbians just wont roll over and die. Sure, they can invade, enslave, occupy Serbian lands . They can fabricate history and create new ethnicities to steal their land and fracture the Serbian nation, but Serbia still lives.
From the beginning of the Roman Empire, most Serbians have been willing to sacrifice all, for their freedom and individual liberty. The source of the enduring Serbian ethos. In the last century alone, Serbia stood against the Austrian, Ottoman, Nazi and Anglo-Zionist empires. Without the necessary historical context, honest analysis is simply not possible.
Without context it’s easy for some to criticize today’s Serbia , while heaping praise on the Orbans, and Salvinis, etc , for “resisting the empire”. Considering that these countries capitulated long ago and assisted in the cabal’s machinations, I find little sympathy for them that they’ve now started to whine about being too far down the empire’s pecking order.
Having had direct interaction with each government, from Milosevic (as a teenager) to today’s quislings, I can personally attest to the authenticity of Mr. Karganovic’s assertions. Presently, the entire Serbian political class, is under the direct influence of the Anglo-Zionists. Those claiming otherwise are woefully uninformed and misguided.
For those inside Serbia, unless you’ve been trained by London, Berlin or the State department, and served in USaID or their other NGO’s, you’re not going to be tolerated by the leading Serbian political parties. Likewise, The only Serbs in the diaspora who’ve been invited to return and participate in the Serbian government, at any time over the last 25 years, have been those vetted and instructed by western intelligence. (Someday I’ll write about my personal experiences. The one with the former U.S. Ambassador and his Army Colonel mistress, representing US Steel in Serbia, was a special kind of head scratcher ) Many are the pampered offspring of communist thieves that escaped with the peoples wealth just prior to the destruction of Yugoslavia, in the 1990’s.
Those traitorous Serbs, whose insatiable greed and desire for power has helped the empire ruin Serbia, must be eliminated. All of them!
Those of us that can truly help, must return to Serbia. There are many in the Serbian diaspora, some generations removed from their ancestral homeland, willing to sacrifice their comfortable lives, and have the will and capabilities, to peacefully restore order to the country and provide the foundation for a prosperous future . We must come to the aid and unite with those few opposition leaders, still willing to resist empire and defend the people .
Unfortunately, none of this is possible without a real ( and I mean real serious ) commitment from Russia to support Serbia’s resurrection. Without Russia and China providing full political support and genuine commitments for future economic partnership, Serbs will not be able to reassert control and begin to eliminate nefarious western meddling. And to those that will scream “why should they”; it’s not about brotherhood, although the Serbs and Russians have always sacrificed much for each other’s survival. It is in the absolute interest of Russian national security and successful European integration of the Chinese NSR initiative, that Serbia receives this critical support. I pray that the support will be genuine and that the Serbian people will finally have a chance at lasting peace and prosperity.
What about Belarus’ support? I’ve heard some say that the Belarus government is more supportive of Serbia and more Serb-friendly than Russia. Their President even stated that he offered Milosevic anti-aircraft and other defensive weapons before the bombing but that Milosevic told him it wouldn’t be necessary.
The Belorussian president said he was willing to risk the pilots lives to deliver them to Serbia.
Anon,
Forgive any perceived slight. Belarus’ unwavering support, deserves more recognition. Its not fair to our brothers and sisters in Belarus, who’ve suffered greatly and still selflessly support Serbia.
I pray that the Slavic brotherhood drills/cooperation, blossoms into a strong defensive and economic union, amongst kin.
People that keep nagging about “treasonous” Serbian government are the same type that were disparaging Putin for not invading Kiev.
Thankfully, their political significance in Serbia is on the same level as in Russia (i.e. negligible).
Z,
What’s with the generalization ?( btw Zeds dead ;)your state sponsored (at least I hope you’re paid) reply should at least address me directly ? Considering you posted 5 minutes after my post, are you under orders to monitor this site specifically, or are you able to multitask?
And NO, I didn’t think Putin should have invaded Kiev. Your ad hominem argument missed its mark. Why don’t you ask me something directly. I’m right here :).
Epithet,
What’s with the paranoia? My generalization was supposed to be just that – general. Think of it as a succinct analysis of current political situation in Serbia. Pro-western liberals on the left, ultra-nationalist hotheads on the right and majority-supported government in the middle. Sounds familiar?
Sorry, I don’t have anything specific to ask you directly. ( btw it’s Zee, not Zed ;)
Thanks for waiting a bit longer to post your second reply. Don’t ya Know, Paranoia ain’t just an island in the Adriatic.
Well then, thank goodness for your last reply. Its not like you littered the entire comment section, these last several days, with similar replies. I guess I’m left to infer, according to your “succinct” analysis , that anyone who feels that the current Serbian government is acting against the interests and will of the Serbian people, is therefore an “ultra-nationalist hothead”
Wow, your remarkable gift of persuasion worked. I think I just had an epiphany…..Damn my 20+ years of personal experience dealing with Serbia’s governing “politicians” …. Im a “paranoid ultra-nationalist hothead” who should stay quiet and watch as the greedy, selfish, treasonous fools, (err, I mean pragmatic centrists) continue the work of their treasonous parents and grandparents . And here’s another treason thrown in, just for giggles.
don’t know a Zee, but Zed is indeed dead ;). Pozdrav!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7Y_NU_OUwvk
You are welcome.
Your guess is wrong. What you should infer is that the interests and will of the Serbian people are, by definition, defined by those same Serbian people (typically at the ballot box). You can “feel” whatever you like, as long as you don’t try to pass your feelings as an axiom.
I’m not trying to persuade anybody of anything…just to remind you that there is a world outside your bubble.
Re 20+ years of personal experience…I would love to hear some of those anecdotes. Wait till you hear mine :)
Re pragmatic centrists…I think you misspelled “popular”
Re treason…Encore!!! I never get tired of it. :)
Re Zed…I know the movie. You didn’t need to bother with the clip. In fact, ever since I started posting under that acronym, I always wondered who would be the first joker to take the cheap shot ;). Pozdrav!
I don’t understand why Serbs never took any anger out on Otpor or the others who helped bring in a total puppet government of sell-outs. The DOS and subsequent governments sold out many hardy and still exporting industries/companies which had survived the sanctions and the bombing. It seems to me that the traitors and fools should have been blamed and punished in order to prevent them or their types doing the same when the west wants to use them again.
I am not a fan of Aleksandar Vučić, and I do not find him very interesting person, maybe I am not right person to give opinion about this, but I really do not understand why somebody can say that “Serbia today is ruled by a Uganda-style madman and his coterie of venal incompetents”.
One can like Vučić or not, but this statement is simply not true. I think that Serbian economy is doing better under Vučič than under his predecessors.
Second thing is that he is brave enough to refuse American and western dictate over Kosovo issue and refuses to introduce sanctions against Russia under US and EU pressure.
He clearly shows more courage than other ex-YU leaders and politicians.
America and West obviously want to remove him and to replace him with somebody more obedient to American interests.
And Serbian so-called opposition is instructed and paid by Americans. They do not even hide that.
Bosnian Croat,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. A very logical and respectfully presented observation. Any foreign observer could come to the same reasoned conclusion. Unfortunately, the narrative presented to domestic and foreign audiences, is cleverly crafted and orchestrated by the West. If one looks closely at the policies and economic data (check out ballooning of sovereign debt, etc.), the facade is quickly lifted. Vucic and his team of subversives are dutifully playing their part, as is the controlled opposition.
Vucic and all the rest, know very well, any further capitulation regarding Kosovo, will bring revolution and their incarceration (if they’re lucky). Remarkably, he fancies a rule spanning decades. Times are quickly changing and the long succession of puppet regimes will soon come to an end.
Check the speech of President Putin during the last visit to Belgrade. It should be still on Youtube. In it you will find the President Putin refers to UN resolution 1244 and asks why Serbian police and army is not on the territory of Kosmet as required by this resolution. In the following speech Vucic does not even mentions UN resolution 1244! Guess why?
This is an overly pessimistic analysis (and somewhat skewed as well) bordering on fatalism. The author has sound arguments on only one account, that the current Vučić regime has been installed by the West in order to carry out the closing works in Kosovo.
Firstly (I am Serbian myself) it is useful to point out how the current ruling SNS got to power. Vučić and Nikolić were initially seen as nationalist hardliners loyal to Šešelj. Under Nikolić leadership (as the General Secretary of SRS – Serbian Radical Party) saw the party winning two parliamentary elections but unable to form a government as the rest of the pro-West parties united to shut them out. The party never enjoyed high ratings under Šešelj during the 90’s (it scored just above 8 percent of the vote).
This caused the frustration of Nikolić and Vučić but they came close to power in the events of 2008 leading to the Kosovo proclamation of independence. In the parliamentary election later that year SRS won most votes and a coalition or SRS and SPS (Socialist Party, a successor party of KPS – Communist Party of Serbia -) and DSS (headed by Koštunica) had been considered. At that time it would have meant a radical change of course, as Koštunica, disillusioned by the West, stopped EU integration as Prime Minister and openly accused the West of stealing Kosovo from Serbia.
Naturally, the West applied significant pressure and managed to convince SPS, a formerly national oriented, anti-West party to join the pro-Western bloc. it is possible the SPS chairman was blackmailed, but this was a crucial event. SPS formed a coalition with the Democrats. After Nikolić was narrowly beaten in the Presidential election in 2008, he and Vučić opened contacts with the West, likely through the mediation of then incumbent Tadić. They destroyed the Radical party, which was abandoned by most of its cadres who joined Nikolić and Vučić. Up until then, the ruling Democrats still had significant opposition in the parliament and a narrow majority. Any attempt to cave in to Western demands in regards to Kosovo would have resulted in massive backlash, as the patriotic parties at that time could still mobilize the populace against such betrayal.
By winning over Nikolić and Vučić, the West neutralized this threat to their clientelistic elite ruling over Serbia. While Nikolić and Vučić ostensibly remained opposed to (some) of the regime policies (they even represented themselves as sovereignists) they basically accepted the pro-Western narrative on all important questions which “sanitized” and de-demonized them and helped them shed their radical past and made them acceptable for the West. They were trained and nurtured by the West and when they got to power (after SPS switched sides again) there was no opposition to their policies. They basically copied all of the traditional pro-European programme but enjoyed the support of national oriented part of the population. Unlike the openly pro-Western democrats, Nikolić and Vučić had no patriotic deficit which enabled them to carry out what the Democrats could not, due to the danger of major backlash.
They immediately signed the Treaty of Brussels, eliminating Serbian institutions from Kosovo (something that the West wanted to be done above all else) and without any opposition, as the “democratic”, pro-“European” parties were discredited, seen as corrupt and responsible for wrecking the economy which resulted in hundreds of thousands of people losing their jobs and a plunge in living standards.
When Vučić sidelined Nikolić and became undisputed ruler, he further destroyed the opposition, many of whom he won over and they joined his party. He took their programme but ostensibly kept some sort of national course, to placate the more traditional inclined voters.
At present, there is an impotent (they enjoy no support whatsoever among the population) but a rabidly anti-Vučić opposition. Their antics actually play right into Vučićs hand, whose propaganda just thrives on idiots such as the actor who recently emerged as the opposition “leader” and other unsavory, outright comical or hopelessly corrupt opposition leaders.
The West has its agents both inside the government, as well as among the opposition. But Western embassies know very well that current opposition leaders have no capacity, nor potential, a reason why I find it improbable that they will try to stage an attempt to overthrow Vučić by using these clowns who call themselves opposition.
Real Western leverage over Serbia is not the pro-Western political parties, its the NGO sector, the media and the cultural, intellectual “elite” (even though there is still a minority of national-oriented intellectuals, but they are a lone voice). They dominate Serbia’s cultural policy, have immense influence and money (the state funds NGOs and some open auto-chauvinists and auto-colonials).
These people are the children of Titoists, they grew indoctrinated with Yugoslavism, were taught to despise anything remotely national, and they especially hate Serbian identity, as a result of Titos anti-Serbian policies.
It is a highly dogmatic, autocratic group of people now cloaking themselves as liberals and Democrats in favor of “European” Serbia, behind which lurks a belief that Serbs are inherently barbaric, primitive and in need to be civilized by Europe.
No matter how despicable the Vučić regime may be, and how much damage it caused (especially in applying neo-liberal economic principles) it still maintains some kind of a balance in foreign policy. it is a typical, century-long policy of Serbian political elite of trying to integrate with the West, but not renouncing the ties with Russia, at least due to the fear of alienating many people.
It is an extremely tough position, even for a country in much better circumstances than Serbia. The problem is not in the current regime, but much, much deeper. Kosovo conflict might escalate any day now with very unpredictable results, both for Kosovo and Serbia.
Nevertheless, I would not fall in the trap of defeatism. Serbia and Serbs have been in worse positions in their history, and it is their spirit of resistance, endurance of preservation of identity that saved them from disappearance.
The battle for Serbia today is not a matter of whose in power. It is a matter of spirit. It is an old question, to whose Empire Serbia will turn to. And I do not mean a simple binary choice of West vs Russia. It is about values. So long as there is one Serb who stays true to his values, there is still hope.
