Dear friends,
First, the good news: our IT specialists are finalizing the final touches of the new blog and, God willing, it should go live before the end of the week. I will make an official announcement when everything is ready, so don’t worry about missing anything.
Second, today I have so much technical and administrative things to deal with and so many emails that I have to reply to that I will not post anything and leave an open thread for you to use as you wish. Depending on how things go, this might be extended until Tuesday evening.
Third, I want to use this opportunity to thank those who have donated to the Saker blog:
Via PayPal:
RC, CP, NM, RH, MD, PB, MF, FK, JP, MFA, JM, BR, JS, TS, LC, TPC, JV, MH,NR, LH, HS, JS, PP, ML, SB, SE, DK, RH, PG, RO, PP, MM, MM, RB, RA, JC, 2HF, KT, AR, HRS, KC, MD, AC, RS, DS, RF, NS, DB, HMK, PP.
Via Amazon:

Via Snail Mail:
VR (sorry, no checks or money orders, so I could not cash yours), ET
and the following anonymous donors:
To all of you, my most heartfelt and sincere gratitude. Over the past months your help has literally made the difference between paying bills or sinking further into debt (we have no savings or pension of any kind).
Also, I want to deeply thank those of you who have sent me very kind and often very personal emails and letter. Two of the most often recurring themes in the emails and letters I get is a) many of you express an extremely strong feeling or rage and disgust with our overlords and rulers and b) many of you say “I wondered if I was alone or crazy with these thoughts“. It is completely Orwellian to read this same statement over and over and over again, sent from people from all over our planet, from New Zealand, to Finland and from Canada to Argentina. It makes me feel that we are all the subjects of a planetary attempt at mind control and, frankly, I guess that we are. To all of you I want to repeat one more time that you are not alone and that, as David Rovics so beautifully sings it, “we are everywhere” and “we’ll shut them down“. Another amazing thing is how diverse “we” are: I get emails (and donations!) from Communists, Ron Paul Libertarians, anarchists, paleo-conservatives, all the imaginable flavors of progressives and liberals, Latin traditionalists, atheists, Muslims (Shia, Sunni and Salafi), Buddhists, and even a few Trotskysts. So while “we” do not necessarily agree on everything, or even on most things, we do exist as a “we” because we do agree on a number of crucial things such as a passionate quest for the truth, our rejection of any form of imperialism and our refusal to submit to the AngloZionist Empire and its New World Order project.
When I look at the apparent zombies which live around me, I know often catch myself thinking that maybe that “zombie” is not a zombie at all, but a member of that “we” community which has grown in response to the infinite arrogance and evil of the Empire. So that illusion of being alone in a world of zombies is just that, an illusion. Thank you for reminding me of that through your emails and letters.
Honestly, I often feel disgusted, despondent, bitter, exhausted and very lonely. The past months have been very hard on me but your support, in whatever form it took, has literally given me hope and energy to keep going. Not only do I believe that we will “shut them down”, I am now even sure of it because the Empire has failed in its key task: to turn us into their obedient zombies.
Okay, I need to go to work on a ton of things now. So I will sign off for the rest of the day, possibly even into tomorrow, but I will keep moderating so please do use the open thread as you want.
Kindest regards to you all,
The Saker
You’re wrong regarding zombies. Most people know the game exactly, but choose to “go with the flow”.
It was very obvious in a survey on TV recently, whre they interviewed americans in the street on topic of bombing. Most of them simply said “it’s not here and it secures our prosperity, why should I care about a bunch of Arabs at the other end of the world”.
That is not a picture of a “zombie”, that is simply a definition of a lowly asshole.
Thanks for all you do.
On an unrelated note, here was a German foreign policy paper on partitioning the Ukraine from 2009:
http://www.german-foreign-policy.com/en/fulltext/56303
Dear Saker,
at the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis I did not know where to get information, and “all” the Canadian, Italian, American newspapers were silent, only eager to demonize president Putin. I felt a ‘dark cloud’ inside me, instantly knowing that something was wrong. I prayed for help, and simultaneous I found your blog, Consortium news, and the Valdai club. I thank you very much for what you are doing!
Saker, you should also know that the demographics of your readership is wider than you might even imagine. I am a 22 year old working in the City of London in the business/finance sector; as such, I am literally within the beating heart of the AZ system you write about so cogently (this is my career path for now because the realities of life force us all to place pragmatism above idealism, especially when young and trying to earn a living).
But believe me, in this environment I am completely alone in terms of politics, spirituality and worldview – it is voices like yours which give me a sense of hope (although actually it is something more like relief) that there are others out there who have come to the same conclusions as I have. That is more of a comfort than you can imagine, so keep up the good work!
@Anonymous:I am a 22 year old working in the City of London in the business/finance sector; as such, I am literally within the beating heart of the AZ system
FANTASTIC!! At 22 you must me my youngest reader. The average is, I think, in the 60s-70s and a few in the 80s or even older than that :-)
You just made my day, thanks so much. And I also know your feeling, I also used to be with and inside the system (until the war in Bosnia really opened my eyes). And I know your dilemma about needing to earn a living. I spent about 5 years of my life retraining and doing odd jobs as a result of losing my career, and then a full 10 years homeschooling my kids away from any career at all. So all I can say is this: be very careful before you make a decision which can cost you your career, but also be aware that if you do, God will help you survive and come back, even if this takes time. So yes, you do live as a “sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves”. In conclusion I will say this: I never regretted, not for one second, breaking free from the powers that be, from that system or from those who run it. I discovered a much more complex but also much more beautiful world, filled with wonderful people. So keep up hope and look for true spiritual beauty which one can find everywhere if you look long enough.
Kind regards
The Saker
HEY! Watch it Saker. Some of us are a spry 40ish
I follow you un this page and also started reading Russia inside , thanks to you…..
Oh wow! Insanity must be contagious… Now if only we can beat out the competition that goes by the name of Ebola we might stand a small chance..
and as Anonymous said… Most people already know.. They just dont want anyone else thinking they are insane.
Dearest Saker,
What a wondrous space your vision and heart have created!
And being exposed to the dark details of the underbelly of the beast that you must wade through to penetrate to the essence within, well, I call it heroic.
And it stands to reason to get a little discouraged at times at the rigid ignorance of some of our fellow citizens and humans. (I live in America, too)
So here is something to ponder that might help focus our energies into the indomitability that is so needed now.
Marshall McLuhan quipped,
We don’t know who first discovered water, but we can be pretty sure it wasn’t a fish.
Meaning, iow, that there are some aspects, energies, thoughts that are so present, so pervasive in the environment that their specific presence becomes almost invisible and undiscussed in the public discourse. McLuhan spoke of “closure”, an ending stage in the process of a shift in awareness or consciousness. In this present dark time, this is perceived by more open awareness as zombie like, tamasic, stupid or fixated.
Now, here is the really hopeful part. That very same closure energy that has produced the zombie like state of our fellow humans, currently being propagandized 24/7 by the AZ hegemonic mindset, will assure the very swift adoption of the new attitudes, which are based upon universal principle and not upon personal evil!
The key stance moving forward is also a key foundation of the Russian character, it seems to me. That is the property of INDOMITABILITY.
A letter from one Russian liberal activist to another after a trip to the Ukraine:

Very grim. Even a true anti-Putin lover of “European values” can see that fascism is on the march and heading for a big funeral pyre.
Dear The Saker,
What exciting news about the move – congratulations.
I think a lot more people are awake than many realise and from many walks of life! There aren’t than many places to express it!
A little less ageism ;) – some of us are in the 40’s zone (lol)……

To clarify, for those a bit confused, about just what capitalism is…
It’s not business; people have done business forever before capitalism. Capitalism is about making money without producing things, by ‘owning’ (legally controlling) the means of production and capital or money.
When one does this, and accumulates money, one also accumulates power, and can thus game the system, buy politicians and influence, and change laws and the system to their advantage. There’s positive feedback there: the more you control the more stuff you get and the more you control more, so the wealth divide grows and oligarchs emerge — from using power. The values of capitalism come down to profit (by exploiting people, or resources regardless of how it affects society).
As the divide grows and human values are distorted, because of the values and structures which develop, capitals advances through is stages of crony capitalism, predatory capitalism, fascism, and eventually totalitarianism, and massive destruction of society and spiritual values.
Capitalism can’t be regulated consistently because the system and the capitalists always works to undermine anything which does not maximize profits (and greed) or distribute wealth and power. It’s like cancer, metastasizing and growing without restraint, and it’s amoral and psychopathic.
That’s the basis of how analysis needs to be done and the current western world understood. One has to get this right to understand the rest.
Apologies to all those who already know this.

I agree with your 22 year old reader.
Everyone around me seems indoctrinated, sort of like “invasion of the body snatchers”…where you’re surrounded by zombies who look like humans.
Your blog is great! Thanks a lot for all that you do.
fyi- I’m 43
Yes indeed some are in our 40s, and have made a Damascus moment in our lives to reach and join the readership of your site. I worked in a low positions in high “prestigious” places, sometimes in roles not even my friends were able to know about.
The growing realisation of this? Simply put, trying to work why they were some many guys out there, not all was what it seemed. I moved right out of the system, to the east for a while and i have twinges of regrets here and there but for the most part of it, moving on.
zoombies? more likely tv for brain…

i am quite optimistic about everything. (pesimist: it can’t get any worse than this. optimist: it can! it can!)
So it’s on in China now huh? Xuygurs in the West. Hong Kong in the East.
I’ve seen it likened to an Umbrella Revolution. What, did Obama and his motley crew run out of colors?

5 weeks ago and very much in spite of myself, I took some time to learn the gayatri mantra, partly with the the objective of changing my circumstances and finding new work.
It’s not much but I take a few minutes each day and try to clear my head and leave the know it all behind. I have never really prayed or meditated sincerely so it required a profound change of attitude. I don’t think I would have done it without the opening you provided. You’ve torn a tiny little hole in space time through which people like me can crawl.
Last week I got an unexpected offer for new work. I start tommorrow, in a new town, with a new life. It’s all happening so fast. I’m very excited.
I look forward to being in a position to contribute fairly soon. Like another commenter said recently, who needs cable when you have Saker blog.
You are making a difference Saker, not least of all in my life.
Thank you so much.
I hope brother Mohammed is reading this thread today – since we’re feeling upbeat about the future we should take 2.5 minutes to listen to Sheikh Imran Hosein explain how Allah planned Russia’s victory.
He makes the crucial point that the repatriation of Crimea is the first defeat experienced by the Zionist movement in 100 years.

PC Roberts spilled it exactly as it is in “Will Russia and China Hold Their Fire UNtil War is the Only Alternative?” on http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk
Every thinking person ask the same question, even Robert Bauer after EE (Evil Empire) aggression of Lybia. How long will China tolerate infingeing on its interest? Are R & C stupid or what. The blind person can see that are selected for war, they like it or not. They’ll get it. And any fool knowes that the best defence is good offence.
to the young man in the business sector, truth, beauty and goodness are inside of us, you have that and the battle is not to let the light die out. . .
in London now, there’s a huge exhibition of Turner paintings he made from aged sixty to when he died. go there, he is said to be the painter of light and his last words “the sun is God” good luck and keep the comments coming on the pace-maker Saker site!

What really has shocked me is how our public Finnish media (YLE) has became pro NATO during the last few years. The propaganda machine has been amazingly large scale and systematic. Folks generally has not been much hysteric but this scaremongering machine itself tells how systematic this has been. Of course this is not innate.
I have almost totally stopped following local mainstream news about Ukraine puzzle. I wonder is it comedy, tragedy or farce.
Agree with Justinian

I have twice recently put up photos of President Obama on my Facebook Page, they are very disturbing and indicate that Obama should think about medical attention insofar as his features indicate that he is controlled by his political error prone strategies and has lost control of the “public” face of which he must be aware as all responsible politicians in his position.Jocelyn Braddell
Why am I, who almost never posts on the internet, writing again? One reason: Saker, you are amazing, far surpassing many (most, all), on the political and intelligence scene regarding insight and understanding of the situations in Russia, Ukraine and elsewhere. Your common sense approach needs to be taken by governments in addressing foreign policy issues. Part of the problem no doubt is the old challenge of trying to balance differing values, beliefs and interests among the various nations and peoples involved, as complicated by ethnic and religious differences.
The following is just an opinion, vastly oversimplified and one with which I am sure many will violently disagree. There seems to be two extremes in trying arrive at long-term solutions to situations within a given region: 1) a very strong, no nonsense central government with an outstanding leader, or 2) the formation of sovereign, independent regions for each of the various groups and factions. Yet, those are ideals and difficult to achieve. The middle ground where we find ourselves continues to lead to chaos.
Now a new topic in the news: pro-democracy riots in Hong Kong. I wonder who is behind that? Here we go again.
Dear Saker,
Rasmus here
This is off topic even for an open thread, but do you know if Nora is OK? I haven’t seen her in the comments section lately and was just hoping she’s fine but busy.
@Anonymous 16:20
You’ve come to the right place for a wide worldview, deep spirituality and ever-changing politics! Welcome!
Saker, another young reader here. I´m a 23 year old history student from The Netherlands and I´ve been reading your blog since june. I, just like you, often feel disgusted, bitter, lonely and sometimes very, very angry.
Your blog, and the comments, give me strength and hope. Keep up the good work and thank you very much for what you´re doing!
@Anonymous 16:20
It´s good to know that I´m not the only young person out here. In my environment I´m also completely alone in terms of politics, spirituality and worldview, so usually I keep quiet. My friends couldn´t care less about what´s going on in the world and don´t even bother sharing your ‘radical’ thoughts at university, because that will seriously harm your reputation. It´s a sad world we live in.
Hi Saker
I really appreciate this blog, so do please keep up the good work! :)
I also love the way you always start an entry with “Dear friends”, which I find quite endearing.
I’d like to ask, would you care to recommend any books by the way that might help us analyse geopolitical situations in the way you do, have you ever considered writing one for that matter, and would you ever consider doing podcasts?
Thanks again for the Vineyard, and for being the Saker.
@ everybody, does anyone know anything about Evgeny Sderov? He is currently speaking on Al Manar(Hezbollah tv)and is extremely hostile to Russia ‘s policy in Syria. He says that Russia doesn’t have a policy ,and should conclude secret accords with The USA.He hints that Russia should find an arrangement in Ukraine with the Eu as mediators with Washington. In short he is spewing venom directly at Putin and his policy. Is he khazar?is he considered in Moscow?
Thanks for any response

A disgusting video of a man who´s being beaten up by Ukies for objecting the tearing down of the Lenin statue in Kharkov/Kharkiv.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Emk6QMVma3w
So where are the russian-speaking people of Kharkov? Is Kharkov(Russian) now dead and should we call it just Kharkiv (Ukrainian) from now on? Is the terror and fear in Kharkov, a city close to the Russian border, so immense that the russian-speaking people keep quiet or do they just dont care? Where is the Kharkov resistance?
My opinion: the video, and the recently discovered mass graves close to Donetsk, shows to me that the country is probably broken beyond repair. So much hatred, violence and russophobia, it´s sickening. How can these people ever live peacefully together again?
@Rasmus:but do you know if Nora is OK?
Yes. I do know. Nora is very angry at me about one of my recent comments and she decided that she would be henceforth “outta here”. *She*- decided to leave. I neither banned her nor asked her to. And in the future, should she change her mind, she will be always welcome here.

It is important for Russians not to despair about the attitude of European politics. Europe is not monolithic anti-Russian, far from it. But Europe is halfway an American colony, but not totally as the Franco-German-Russian refusal of cooperation with the US in Iraq in 2003 has shown. What will eventually break the back of the current European elite is that they will become cornered by their own multicultural model of society, that does not work. And the rise of ISIS/Caliphate and Turkey turning away from Europe, all comes at exactly the right time. What European nationalists admire in Putin’s Russia is the willingness to defend the identity of Russian Civilization, they want that for Europe as well. Here is a compilation of videos with former German chancellor Schroeder, who is one of the most important factors in keeping the hope alive that pro-Russian forces in Europe are not dead and at some point could make a switch, away from the US.

We are in this for the long haul, again do not despair.

re Nora:. Pity. Had an mental picture of her sitting in her rocking chair in the Bates Motel, then when a guest rang the bell, whisking off her wig to transmorgrify behind the front desk at Mr. Nora, aka Norman Bates. She was an amusing note at times.
One more rare post for me on the internet, and that’s it. We now have plenty of soldiers, weapons, diplomats and politicians out there. Now all we need are a few more psychiatrists.
Dear Saker,
The membership of the Aves community I belong to sent you specially prepared papyrus back in August of this year.
Did you receive it? If not, we will have to make other arrangements to ensure the continued good health of your pet falcon.
Nora come baaa-aack (I know you’re lurking).
OK I don’t know but if you read this I was right. Haha!
If Saker can put up with me and employees of HB Gary then you can put up with him. I have no idea what was said but whatever it was, you’re both decent people. Please lets all practice getting over ourselves.
Staring at a flickering screen changes your brain and makes you intolerant. It’s a proven effect. After too much time online I turn into a total a-hole and feel an overwhelming urge to beat up on trolls or hapless bystanders. I am grateful to not have the responsibility to read every single comment, half of which ARE made by paid trolls.
Forget everything and start brand new. It would show us your good character.
Please delete my “Anonymous” comment above with a time mark of 20:45. My comment was inappropriate and I do not want it taking up unnecessary space on your blog. After deleting that comment, please delete this one also.
I just want to thank Saker for this wonderful blog , it has given me some understanding of the Russian perspective. Watching all the unfolding horror in the world it has become clear that we as a species have come to a point where we face a diabolical plan for the destruction of most of humanity.
I have always pondered the nature of evil , mans inhumanity to man down through history , maybe because i grew up during the “troubles” Growing up i was never warned that we have a predator in our midst and it looks and even sounds very human and is extremely skilled in the control and manipulation of humans, i am of course referring to imo the most important issue, the predation of the empathic human by the psychopathic mind set creature, it has been a plague on humanity all through our bloody history Mankind has been effectively stunted in terms of our development , we should be a lot further along, this world should be a very different place to the nightmare it currently is with all the pointless death, pedophilia and corruption. The psychopathic control grid has been merciless in its subjugation of the human species through its perfected mind control technologies ,primary psychopaths creating secondary psychopaths and so on .
One small first step would be any person who wishes to have a position where the decisions they make effect the lives of other people ie presidents or the geo of major banks should be diagnostically tested for psychopathy.
Disturbing stories are on some financial news sites that what is taking place now, is a Putin backroom deal with US-Nato, Putin will get sway in Ukraine and with Germany / Europe … but Putin abandons Assad like he did Qaddafi, and US-Nato-Israel get the Middle East.
But on the lighter side …
With the new blog format, will we finally find out if Saker is a girl or not? Maybe after (s)he appears in the octo-box on RT?
FWIW … from commenter Obi-Juan on the Slavyangrad site:
« … beware of what Russian chauvinist like the Saker of Dmitry Orlov can tell you, they can say that USA is in free fall and Russia is flourishing but they still living in USA and not in Russia, they say that the Dollar will collapse, but they are saving in Dollars and not in Rubles. Bottom line, they usually said the opposite of what they do »
Saker,
You got fans of all ages here, I bet.
Truth and hope for the future after cutting away a baleful of lies crosses all age boundaries.

We have seen videos of the big names in Novorossia. All have had greatness thrust upon them. These people are not going to be walked over by anyone.

When do you think that the US changed? My feeling is that the following five moments really were five dramatic turns for the worse:
1. Murder of Kennedy
2. Election of Reagan
3. Election of Clinton
4. 9/11
5. Election of Obama
What do you think?

Greetings from Singapore:
This how the ‘coalition of the willing’ is formed. Example Croatia =>
The United States and Croatia coordinate all activities, US Ambassador Kenneth Merten said on Monday in a comment on Croatia’s having been put on a list of countries making up a US-led coalition fighting against Islamic State.
During a visit to the Viktor Lenac shipyard in Kostrena, the US ambassador was asked if the United States had put Croatia on the list without consulting it and if Croatia should have been informed about it.
It is evident from the Prime Minister’s address in Parliament that we coordinate all actions, as he put it, the US ambassador said, adding that he had nothing to add to it, that Croatia was a long-standing partner and ally to the USA and that the USA looked forward to cooperating with Croatia worldwide in different matters.
However, PM Zoran Milanovic said in Parliament last week, while speaking about Croatia’s participation in the fight against Islamic State, that the US State Department had put nearly every country, without any consultations, on a list of countries participating in the coalition against Islamic State.
He said the US authorities “need that because of interior relations with the public” and that he would have done the same.
“Croatia supports that. The US is fighting against something I consider evil and I won’t be scared because of some fear that someone will attack us now or do I-don’t-know-what to us. We are a member of NATO. Therefore, what is happening in the Middle East is resident, inhuman evil and it should be stopped,” Milanovic said then.
Both Milanovic and Foreign Minister Vesna Pusic have said that the government did not make any formal decision on the matter.
Asked if such a decision should have been made, US Ambassador Merten said briefly the matter was up to the Croatian government.
President Ivo Josipovic said in New York last week that there was no formal coalition against Islamic State.
“There is no formal coalition, it is a joint policy which the US has named ‘coalition’, and we can call it ‘partnership’,” Josipovic said, adding that it was not a new alliance but the continuation of a policy that had been pursued for years.

That’s a bit late. They should be tested at the age of about three (to weed out those individuals who lack a conscience). See
Psychopaths Among Us — How their evil influence may be minimized (eventually)
And that page also says why this won’t happen, namely, “because of modern psychology’s obsession with being ‘value-neutral’.”

So psychopaths will always be causing (often major) harm to us ‘normal’ people (including the possible extinction of the human species) until human society figures out how to either (a) prevent them from occupying positions of power/influence or (b) prevent them from producing offspring (which is preferable, since psychopathy is probably a genetic disease).
Greetings from Singapore:
Chinese editorial on the attempt of recreating a Maidan in HK:
An opportunistic adventure
(China Daily) Updated: 2014-09-29 07:52
A group of political extremists made good on their threat to paralyze Hong Kong’s central business district by kicking off their illegal “Occupy Central” campaign on Sunday.
They took action in the hope of coercing the central and Hong Kong SAR governments into accommodating their demands for their favored electoral mechanism. They have been pushing for a mechanism with no legal standing but with the aim of ensuring their favored candidates have a chance to grab the top political job in the SAR.
In demanding that the National People’s Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) retracts its decision on Hong Kong’s electoral system, made on Aug 31, organizers of this campaign are challenging the authority of the country’s top legislature.
Under the “One Country Two Systems” principle and the Basic Law, the NPCSC has the ultimate authority over matters regarding the SAR’s proposed constitutional reform for the election of its Chief Executive by universal suffrage in 2017.
“Occupy” advocates have had to resort to the pretext of “popular will” since realizing they have negligible legal and moral grounds for fighting for an electoral mechanism outside the legal framework. They are doing this with threats of taking Hong Kong’s economic well-being and social stability hostage.
They claim to have the mandate of the people. But 1.5 million citizens – one-fifth of the Hong Kong populace – have unmistakably expressed their disapproval of political extremism as they signed the petition against the “Occupy” movement.
Realizing their failure to summon residents’ support for their cause, the “Occupy” organizers are trying to take advantage of the students’ idealism and enthusiasm for promoting democratic advancement in the city. By deliberately timing their “Occupy” action to coincide with a student rally being held outside the government headquarters on Sunday, they have in effect hijacked the will of the students who were there merely to voice their views about the proposed electoral reforms.
By knowingly putting young students in jeopardy, “Occupy” organizers demonstrate a desperate attempt to advance their political agenda, even at the expense of the safety of innocent people.
With this latest trick to manipulate the will of others, the political extremists in the city have completely exposed the opportunistic nature of their endeavors.
Why is Europe slow rolling Ukraine’s EU AA decision. These clowns don’t have 15 months. There will be nothing left by then. Is it gas deals with Russia or the kleptocracy plus Nazis giving them pause?

Disturbing stories are on some financial news sites that what is taking place now, is a Putin backroom deal with US-Nato, Putin will get sway in Ukraine and with Germany / Europe … but Putin abandons Assad like he did Qaddafi, and US-Nato-Israel get the Middle East.

Greetings from Singapore:
If the cannot arrange colour revolutions, they get some judge to do their job.
Another gesture of exceptionalism: A New York judge declares the Republic of Argentina in contempt of court.
A US federal judge has ruled Argentina in contempt of court for its attempts to avoid his orders to pay off hedge funds that sued the country for full payment on their bonds, Reuters reported Tuesday.
“The court holds and rules that those proposed steps are illegal and cannot carry on,” federal district judge Thomas Griesa said as quoted by Reuters, referring to the recent domestic legislation Argentina passed, aiming to transfer its bond contracts way from US jurisdiction to Argentine jurisdiction.
Judge Griesa noted that it is “a rare thing” for a country to be ruled in contempt of the US court, but held off on issuing a penalty, which, according to Reuters, could amount to a $50,000-a-day civil fine as requested by the hedge funds.
Most of Argentina’s creditors have agreed to a debt restructuring. According to the agreements, Argentina will repay them 70 percent of the face value of their bonds.
Two US hedge funds – Aurelius Capital management and NML Capital – have refused to accept the deal.
Earlier this year, Griesa froze Argentina’s ability to transfer funds to restructured bondholders, as long as it does not pay the holdouts in the restructuring, mainly the $1.3 billion in bonds held by Aurelius Capital management and NML Capital.
The ruling forced Argentina into its second default in 13 years.

This from Karl Marx may appeal more directly to the Saker’s readers.
“Finally, there came a time when everything that men had considered as inalienable became an object of exchange, of traffic and could be alienated. This is the time when the very things which till then had been communicated, but never exchanged; given, but never sold; acquired, but never bought – virtue, love, conviction, knowledge, conscience, etc. – when everything, in short, passed into commerce. It is the time of general corruption, of universal venality, or, to speak in terms of political economy, the time when everything, moral or physical, having become a marketable value, is brought to the market to be assessed at its truest value.”
We need change?
OK.
Who’s gonna be the leader and who’re gonna be the followers?
Get my drift?
Hong Kong had been under British rule for a long, long time, before the final Anschluss [with mainland China], on the 1st of July 1997. Hong Kong’s like a dog that’s been living in the wild for a while and now has to be ‘domesticated’ [aka become Chinese] again.
Dear Saker
Thank you very much for your friendly, warm and touching words. This was exactly what I needed today.
P.S. Maybe “we” are younger than you think, because I’m also in the 40s.

Is this some kind of acknowledgment?
Speaking of Norman Bates and Mother, the crazy psycho UkroNazis could use a few lessons in how to be a successful psycho from Norman/Mother, who commits his/her crimes in secret. They commit their crimes out in the open and loudly brag about it on HateBook (so they can be prosecuted later).
Mother knows he/she is being watched in the police station: “They’re watching me. I’ll show them that I am not guilty. See, I won’t even swat that fly. They will say about me, that sweet old lady wouldn’t even hurt a fly.” Norman Bates/Mother is VERY smart. UkroNazis are VERY dumb.
Dear Saker,
you also have support from pan-Slavic neo-pagans! Though we disagree on religious matters, the defending of Mother Russia from Anglo-Zionist plague is our key goal too.

Not that I disagree but you know that it always goes the other way. We don’t need or want medical ‘professionals’ or other ‘experts’ making these decisions. I think we need to make sure everyone learns how to identify psychopathic behaviour.
A few weeks ago ‘b’ recommended The Master and His Emissary: The Divided Brain and The Making of the Western World by Ian McGilchrist. It’s a bit of a tome but beautifiully written and well worth the effort, especially for thoughtful people such as yourself. I think you’d enjoy it.

Dear Saker,
I have always wondered about what reality could lie behind mythology and the true history of the human race. I read Velikovsky and more recently Jno Cook’s accounts of the planetary violence man has endured over the millenia. This could help explain our situation. (http://saturniancosmology.org/)
I have also created a graphical timeline based on Cook’s work.

This article by Wayne Madsen below provides an absolutely critical overview of the broader geopolitical gameplan that the American Axis is implementing.
In particular, the USA wants to “smash” the BRICS nations.
This sinister agenda is the hidden factor that drives seemingly disparate and unrelated issues involving Russia, China, Brazil, India, and South Africa.
Truly eye-opening … and disturbing.

@ mjm,
Q: Aurelius Capital…
R: Mark Brodsky is chairman of Aurelius Capital management and a former Elliott Management executive. Paul Singer is the founder of Elliot Management and NML Capital Limited his Cayman Islands-based offshore unit.
Mr. Singer urns his greenbacks through hard labor; “Timerman argued that the $127 million Singer had received from the Republic of Congo to settle a $400 million debt he had acquired for $10 million “should be going to build roads, schools and other poverty reduction programs.”
Just connect the dots.

Ali Haidar, Syria’s State Minister for National Reconciliation. Here is an edited transcript of his comments: I don’t like edited transcripts because you can make any sentence mean something else entirely. But.. It looks like Syria wants Russia and Iran to join in so the US can not manipulate things on the ground.
Rudaw: Does this mean that you think the Turkish anti-aircraft guns will target your planes if you fly too close to the Turkish borders?
Ali Haidar: Yes, we do. The Turkish and Israeli militaries so far have downed two Syrian aircraft. They have shelled our troops in the past, accusing us of crossing their borders, which is not true. The real reason was for them to aid the opposition groups.
Rudaw: How do you assess the Turkish government’s involvement in the Kobane battle?
Ali Haidar: Turkey has been aggressive from the start. Turkey is to a great extent responsible for what has happened in Syria. It opened its 800-kilometer borders with Syria in order to facilitate the inflow of foreign fighters into Syria. It also has supported the opposition both economically and militarily and in the media. According to the UN resolution, the Turkish government should halt its support for the terrorist groups in Syria. It should close all its borders or monitor it to stop the entry of fighters into the Syrian war.
Rudaw: What is your position regarding the decision by the US government and its allies to aid the Syrian moderate opposition with $500 million? They have announced that there will be training camps for the Free Syrian Army in Saudi Arabia.
Ali Haidar: What the US is trying to do is to replace a terrorist group with another terrorist group. We don’t differentiate between terrorist organizations and the so-called moderate organizations because they have one thing in common, which is the killing. We are monitoring the events.
Rudaw: What do you think the events will lead to?
Ali Haidar: All options are on the table. There is a possibility that the coalition widens and both Iran and Russia will join the efforts in coordination with both Syria and Iraq.

I have said many times ISIS is directly funded and controlled by the west and helped by Turkey, Jordan and Israel.
Turkey and Israel Are Directly Supporting ISIS and Al Qaeda Terrorists In Syria
According to a leading Turkish newspaper (Today’s Zaman), Turkish nurses are sick of providing free medical treatment to ISIS terrorists in Turkish hospitals. Foreign Policy documents that Israel is also treating ISIS terrorists for free in its hospitals:
“Throughout the reporting period, UNDOF frequently observed armed members of the opposition interacting with the IDF across the cease-fire line,” according to the report. “On one occasion UNDOF observed the IDF on the Alpha side [inside Israel] handing over two boxes to armed opposition on the Bravo side [inside Syria].”
Sharif As-Safouri, the commander of the Free Syrian Army’s Al-Haramein Battalion, admitted to having entered Israel five times to meet with Israeli officers who later provided him with Soviet anti-tank weapons.

@pan-Slavic neo-pagans
Neopaganism (slavic, panslavic, or not) is an invention of the same Anglo Zionist Masonry, using “fakelores” adapted to diverse ethnological circumstances (pseudo-Celtic, pseudo-Norse, pseudo-Germanic) specifically designed to alienate people from the Church and to oppose the return to the traditional faith (Shnirelman,V.A. “‘Christians! Go Home!’ A Revival of Neo-Paganism between the Baltic Sea and Transcaucasia (An Overview), in Journal of Contemporary Religion 17.2 (2002): 197-211).

@”Will Russia and China Hold Their Fire UNtil War is the Only Alternative?”
I would be very much inclined to think so, if only for the reason that it was the strategy of Russia during two of the direst moments of her history: 1812, 1941.
I refer again to the book of Dominic Lieven, descendant of Christopher Lieven, German-Balt aristocrat (Balaban?) and general of Alexander I, “Russia against Napoleon”.
“Russia Against Napoleon truly reaches the parts that other works do not. Beginning with the failed alliance of Tilsit between Russia and France, which Lieven presents as an arrangement that was based on a cool and realistic appreciation of Russian interests, the author charts Alexander I’s steadily deteriorating relationship with Napoleon and explains how by 1810 the tsar had been forced into a position of open enmity with the French empire, in part because of the latter’s relentless aggression, but also because of growing internal pressure (throughout the book, indeed, great stress is placed on the importance of domestic Russian politics). Hostility to France, however, did not necessarily mean war and, as Lieven shows, in 1811 Alexander eschewed the idea of attacking Napoleon: rather, he would wait to be attacked and, initially at least, adopt a purely defensive strategy. When war came in 1812 it was therefore very much the responsibility of the French ruler, and in arguing thus Lieven places himself in the camp of those who argue that the struggles of 1803-15 were in the most literal sense Napoleonic wars… Lieven places great weight on the efforts of Alexander himself. Having already been the heart and soul of Russian resistance in 1812 and, according to the author at least, a leading influence in the great victory of Leipzig, the tsar struggled to ensure that the Allies aimed at nothing less than the overthrow of Napoleon. In this, of course, he was not alone (Britain’s Lord Castlereagh was a strong exponent of the same policy), but, as Lieven points out, it is almost certainly the case that, without the Tsar’s commitment to war to the death, Napoleon could well have been left on the throne of France in 1814, thereby rendering null and void all the slaughter and suffering of the previous two years” (Charles Esdaile, The Bear Against The Cockrel/Russia Against Napoleon: The Battle for Europe, 1807 to 1814
Dominic Lieven- Review by…)
Exactly the same scenario happened in 1941 (incidentally the dates of the beginning of mthe campaigns differ by two days (24 June 1812, 22 June 1941).
Had Russia reacted to the provocations of Napoleon or Hitler and engaged in preventative war it is most certain that the result would have been different.

Yes, the pro NATO stance of Yle and other media in Finland is disgusting. Best one can do is talk with people and point out the sources of the articles and who pays for it. Most of this seems to be coming from Reuters, AP and US Gov think tanks.
Finland has achieved many good things with their eastern neighbor and one hopes that the current pull to the Atlantist side will wane in the near future. One needs to discuss what is written and who is doing the talking in such news from Yle, Iltasanomat and other main news services to the Finnish public. Help them see beyond the history of 70 years ago and to work with their neighbor for the betterment of both countries.
Sakers site as with others are a great help here as is much patience, saunaing and beer drinking. :)
I thank Saker greatly as I do the commentators here who also add much to the blog.
I hope the collaboration of Fennovoima and Rosatom can bring Finland a decent MOX Nuclear Generation option for the Finnish People. Just like in the past large infrastructural project collaborations between Russia and Finland have left their legacy. There is so much that can be achieved through collaboration and friendship with neighbors be it locally or internationally.
Justin.
Saker: “when do you think tha US changed” to the worst almost without hope to take the right path I think efter the election of Bush junior. Back then, it was almost clear that Gore would prevail in the elections against Bush then came ths soap opera woth a cuban kid (do not remember his name) who was supposed to be send back (to Cuba) by Clinton and this resluted with the Florida vote going to Bush and then irregularities during that election. The 9/11 was probably a false flag. Obama just follows tha path already established by the Bush team, is to follow the directives of the the Industrial military complex, the MSM and the Israeli lobby.
This guy is beyond words.
Meanwhile, the dollar optix or optimism index chart shows that optimism also is already at record extremes and is “off the scale” – optimism is so widespread that Barack Obama no longer feels the need to put his cup down when saluting the military – and here we should note that we are much more worried about the example set to youngsters not by his saluting with a plastic cup in his hand, but that it appears to be a nasty carcinogenic polystyrene cup. The record shows that such wild optix index extremes have almost always coincided with a top or closely preceded it.
