15:50 – July 16, 2014 – Briefing From the Militia
translated by Gleb Bazov
Marinovka has been taken by the Militia. The punitive forces have been totally encircled. The southern cauldron has been firmly sealed. The Ukrainian forces have only one chance to survive – to surrender to the Militia or to be interned on the territory of Russia.
On other areas of the southern front, the Militia also continues an active offensive. Artillery attacks on the Junta columns are being conducted. The Militia periodically uses Grad systems.

The petulant boy-king Obama and his humiliated subalterns in the State Dept declare economic war via sanctions.
Putin responds: “But as for sanctions, they usually have a boomerang effect, and without a doubt will force US-Russian relations into a corner. This is a serious blow to our relationship. And it undermines the long term security interests of the US State and its people.”
There’s the (relatively) soft talk. Waiting for the big stick, now (I wonder if a massive US treasury dump will be a first step).

“3-15, Overview of the military situation in all the most important places of military action”
Maps and descriptions of what happened. And also what may happen:
“The conclusions. South boiler essentially the same, he was. Part forces guards at night and in the morning were able to escape. However the military units they are not. Much of the equipment and drugs were left in the pot forever. The same who had not managed to slip sympathy. It’s time to think about surrender (Shooters conditions set)until late. It seems all the reserves militias thrown to the South. The rapid destruction of the southern group is a priority task. Therefore airports are still sebeon task number two (or three). The configuration of the front line, more and more, makes us think of the new boiler (in Amvrosievka).”

Gayle,
As usual, you’ve nailed it. But Putin’s big stick may be sort of an ongoing thing — just look at what’s happened in the past couple of days: a revived listening-station in Cuba to spy on us, a combined $150 billion banking challenge to our banking hegemony, what sure looks like a military fiasco in SE Ukraine plus the wheels perhaps beginning to come off in Kiev — and, as sketch eye noticed just a bit upthread, weren’t there supposed to be these major-big NATO exercises starting July 14? ;~)
No sense getting overconfident but it might be time to stock up on some popcorn , even if we might not need it for a while. (I gave Poroshenko six weeks max maybe a week ago and noted at the time I was being optimistic. Kolomoiskiy, otoh, is the one who really needs to have an accident — and that’s something I’ve never said before, even if I thought it. But that Odessa massacre…)
President of Russia:
Those who force countries to such scenarios should never forget that the blood of the regular army soldiers, of the resistance soldiers, of civilians will be on their hands,” Putin said. “And the tears of mothers, widows, orphans belong to them. And they have no right to shift the responsibility,” as he urged all parties in Ukraine to sit at the negotiating table.
@ Andrew
The Ukraine military has orders to kill civilians, not take oil refineries.
“Andrew said…
Events are unfolding much more rapidly than even I expected. It seems that the NAF under Alexei Mozgovoi has seized the Lisichansk Oil Refinery, which was apparently unguarded by Kiev. This oil refinery is close to 40% of Ukrainian capacity”

HuffPo propaganda
“I don’t think the western media has received their instructions as far as how to portray ‘Novorossia’ . . . ” — if the msm can’t spin it then it simply did not happen.
Interesting comment from militaryphotos.net:
A lot of “strange” happenings of late can be explained if you allow thought of people very high up in command of Ukraine army working for FSB. Most strange was without doubt Strelkov march out of complete encirclement with 90% of his forces intact. They were moving in a column several kilometers long and sustained almost no casualties (lost 1 SUV with family members) and lost 2 tanks and 1 BTR from cover squad. This is nothing for squad their size breaking through from encirclement. Some Ukranian sources reported army received orders to stand back directly from Geletey. Whoever gave this order he was very high on food chain.
You are right in a sense that the whole operation was planned with assumption that rebels don’t have artillery or tanks in serious quantities. Also it seems there were group in Donetsk going to turn over city to army once they complete their recapture of borders. Strelkov move to Donetsk and replacing head of DNR security with very qualified FSB man have put end to this.
You guys on this thread don’t take into account all delicate things going behind scenes. “Local” part of rebel command is mostly made up from former Ukraine army and police officers, they not just speak same language as ATO command, they went to same military schools and served in same units just a few months ago. There is semi-racist joke in russian about different USSR ethnicities, for Ukrainians it goes like “1 ukrainian – partisan, 2 – partisan squad, 3 – partisan squad with traitor”.
This picture tells the sad reality of modern Western Ukraine.

It is reminiscent of a famous and prophetic political cartoon about Nazi Germany from 1933.
@Andrew
The Lisichansk refinery was supposed to have been closed in March because it wasn’t profitable. So I don’t know how it could be 40% of Ukraine’s capacity at this point.

KIEV, Feb. 24 – Russian oil major TNK-BP plans to shut down its Lisichansk Oil Refinery in Ukraine next month because the business has remained unprofitable for the past two years, the company said in a statement Friday.
“It is obvious that the situation will not change in the near future and the oil refining will most likely remain unprofitable,” the company said in the statement. “That’s why the management of TNK-BP has decided to suspend oil deliveries to the refinery and to begin maintenance in March.”

“It was moved because during the initial planning phase, which occurs months in advance, the legitimate government of Ukraine was beginning to deal with the start of Russian-backed separatists trying to tear apart their country, which rightfully meant their defense forces were focused elsewhere.”

You can’t have joint exercises when the entire military force of the country is off running a Nazi bloodbath.

Its shown as 37% of installed refining capacity in Ukraine.

The status of the plant seems very confused. Even if it is not active, it is probably still being used as a distribution terminal. These articles state it was going to be restarted by new owner Rosneft this summer

@sketch ey: Call me crazy but what Ukraine needs is a Right-Sector coup.
Poroshenko? It looks like Maidan 3.0 is gathering momentum. Here’s an ominously-titled video produced by EuromaidanPR; unfortunately there don’t seem to be any transcriptions of what’s being said on it. I’ve seen Maidan 3.0 mentioned in other venues, always in relation to open violence.
Kolomoisky? Unfortunately, he’s being protected and enabled by interests far more powerful than Russia or the US.
Regarding NATO-Ukraine Operation Rapid Trident 2014
NATO can train later this year with Strelkov’s boys. That’s going to be the only viable Army in the area.
And they could learn a few things about land warfare.
Meanwhile, Nuland is back in the kitchen whipping up some Chinese fortune cookies.
They are going to try their luck over on the other side of Eurasia.
Hong Kong is their best bet. Big demonstrations, cookies, lots of signs and then the Triads will come out swinging and it will look like Big Trouble in Little China.

Russia not planning reopening Soviet spy base on Cuba – Putin
Russian President Vladimir Putin has refuted reports that Russia and Cuba agreed to resume work at the Soviet-built intelligence facility in Lourdes near Havana, Cuba. “No, it’s not true,” Putin answered a question during his meeting with reporters following the BRICS summit in Brazil. “There is nothing to regret, we are capable of solving the challenges in the field of national defense without this component, there is nothing unusual here, we in agreement with our friends closed the work of this center, we have no plans to resume work,” said Putin. Reports of resumption of work at the USSR’s largest electronic intelligence facility were published in Kommersant newspaper on Wednesday.

Thank you!
Congrats. Next move centre Ukraine then slowly but gradually towards KIEV!
Give em hard, not the standard ukie soldier but those from the right sector.
Well, I had thought at one time that it would only be.a matter of time before the rebels were eventually overrun,
By the looks of a couple of items that might have been incorrect.
The first was a report of protests of parents upset their children have not been allowed to be demobilized. The Ukrainian version of “stop-loss” and then that telephone conversation apparently from a disgruntld Ukrainian soldier.
If both are true, what does it say about the dingbats in Kiev?
Friends of Novorusski,
This Monday is Largardes 21st July date.Numerical nonsense or not,it may be prudent to stock what you can afford by way of food, fuel and spare cash in case things get iffy.
