First, I was a little skeptical. Then more and more sources confirmed what seems to be a fact: Russia will completely stop the delivery of gaz through the Ukraine and all Russian gaz will now flow through Turkey (see Bloomberg and LifeNews). Not only that, but the Russians have told the Europeans that if they want Russian gaz, they will have to build their own pipeline to Turkey at pay for it all.
The Europeans appear to be shell-shocked. Maros Sefcovic, the European Commission’s vice president for energy union, declared that this decision made “no economic sense”. As if the nonstop economic and political warfare waged by the EU against Russia did make any sense!
I can image the faces of the Eurobureaucrats when Alexei Miller, the head of Gazprom, told them that “now it is up to them to put in place the necessary infrastructure starting from the Turkish-Greek border” while the Russian Energy Minister Novak added that “the decision has been made, we are diversifying and eliminating the risks of unreliable countries that caused problems in past years, including for European consumers.”
In other words, the EU just lost it all and so did the Ukraine. Keep in mind that the EU has no other options then to purchase the Russian gas from Turkey while Russia can simply do without gaz exports to Europe because China has already signed a contract covering the exact same amount of gaz and possibly much more.
Let’s see now how the infinitely corrupt, arrogant, criminally irresponsible European elites will cope with an agriculture choking in useless surplus stocks, a society waging ideological war on 1.6 billion Muslims, and now with no energy.
The always irreplaceable Poles have come up with a brilliant strategy it appears: they will “not really” invite Putin to the commemoration of the liberation of Auschwitz even though Auschwitz was liberated by the Soviet military. I am sure that Putin will be both impressed and heartbroken.
Nowadays every time I hear any news out of Europe, I always think that Victoria Nuland’s famous “f**k the EU” and how Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, called his colleagues the “great supine protoplasmic invertebrate jellies“. I share exactly the same sentiments: let them “Charlies” now freeze in their own pathetic mediocrity.
The Saker
When will Russia top delivery of gas via Ukraine.
How will Russia deliver gas to Turkey without a pipeline.
This should be news only when it actually happens.
Russia Cuts Off Ukraine Gas Supply To 6 European Countries.
Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian state energy giant Gazprom to cut supplies to and through Ukraine amid accusations, according to The Daily Mail, that its neighbor has been siphoning off and stealing Russian gas. Due to these “transit risks for European consumers in the territory of Ukraine,” Gazprom cut gas exports to Europe by 60%, plunging the continent into an energy crisis “within hours.” Perhaps explaining the explosion higher in NatGas prices (and oil) today, gas companies in Ukraine confirmed that Russia had cut off supply; and six countries reported a complete shut-off of Russian gas. The EU raged that the sudden cut-off to some of its member countries was “completely unacceptable.

Russia Just Pulled Itself Out Of The Petrodollar.

They thought they would have Russia whipped by lunchtime.
They have fudged the history and current events reports so much, revised the truth according to their cult ideology, that they can’t deal with the actual reality.
Orlov’s article today linked by Saker pre-told this event. Saker has schooled us over and over about the the customs of Russia and Russian character.
This is not just pure Putin. This is 146 million voices saying F U to all the West who have tried for centuries to destroy Russia.
Whose crediting rating is going to go to junk now?
By the way, China is now going to face Japan’s biggest military budget in 70 years.
Russia in the Far East and Siberia will be facing it also.
The Hegemon never takes a day off from creating chaos.
But watch how Putin and Xi deal with that threat.
It’s only fair that Putin give them notice of Russian intentions so that they will have time to build their pipeline connections. Such construction on their part will also serve as a guarantee that Turkey will have a market for the Russian gas. It wouldn’t do for Russia to build Turkstream and then find that the EU had decided to do something else.
It seems a very unlikely fear of course– but then it looks like we have a Syria war shaping up & this is intended to change the pipeline situation.
I always find these bold steps by Putin reassuring.
This is the best news that I have heard in some time, and it is very welcome.
Europe can’t believe what it has allowed to happen, what it has caused to happen…yes, there are conseuences to your actions, Euros.
I’d allow gas to flow to any EU nation that removed itself from NATO, though.

This is some excellent news! No! It’s much better than that. This is epic news!
Dealing with the current fascist regime in Kiev is beyond pointless. Erdoğan, and his strong leadership of Turkey is an infinitely superior proposition. Let’s see how those invertebrate jellies from the “gay-pride” capitals of Europe can deal with a strong leader like Erdoğan and a powerful country such as Turkey.
The Europeans deserve all the worse for their attitude towards Russia in recent years. They had infinite chances of getting their act together begin behaving rationally and decently. But their corruption and bribing from Uncle Sam has led them to moral, economic and strategic disaster.
The bottom line here is this. If the Europeans try to act tough by refusing the Russian – Turkish offer, then Russia will divert its gas production to primarily China, and from there on then to possibly India, Japan and South Korea. Remember that Asian countries are paying way more than the Europeans for the natural gas they buy from places like Qatar, Australia and Indonesia. Russia will be able to provide them with much more competitive prices and bigger quantities. In such a case, the Europeans, will have to buy far more expensive LNG gas from the US and other sources. The necessary infrastructure for such a thing to occur is not even remotely there and it will take considerable time and massive amounts of money for it to materialize.
The current EU leadership will live in historical infamy as complete and total failures.

Very good news.
I am Vanya!
Thank you for this.
Unfortunately, I think Russia had no choice. But I wonder how all this will play out?
That’s a major “chess move” by Putin. It is a “check” and possibly a “check mate”. Amazing! Remember that February usually is the coldest month of winter in Europe…
Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Croatia and Turkey are the countries affected, as far as I have been able to ascertain. It is unfortunate that these countries (except for Turkey) are among the poorest countries in the EU.

Porky and Lyashko vs Kolomoyski, from Fort Russ:
January 14, 2015
Mikhail Markiv for Ukraina.ru
Translated from Russian by J.Hawk
Verkhovna Rada adopted a law whose effect is to deprive the odious oligarch Igor Kolomoisky of control over one of Ukraine’s most profitable state-owned companies, Ukrnafta.
Although the Ukrainian government owns the majority of shares (50% + 1 vote), the previously existing law required a quorum of 60% in order to make decisions. Kolomoisky who owns 42% of shares of Ukrnafta was therefore able to block any inconvenient decision by the shareholder council.
[Wiki:
Ukrnafta is a Ukrainian oil and natural gas extracting company, the largest producer of oil and gas in the country.[1] In 2006 to the company belonged some 91% of oil, 27% of natural-gas condensate and 17% of gas extraction from the total extraction of carbohydrates in the state.
The company produces around 3 million tonnes of oil and 4 billion m3 of natural gas per year, having oil proven reserves of nearly 180 million tonnes. Ukrnafta also ownes three natural gas processing plants.]
Poroshenko Bloc deputy Mustafa Nayem called this a revolutionary decision.
“A small revolution had taken place. The Parliament adopted a law to reduce the shareholder quorum from 60% + 1 to 50% + 1. This fundamentally changes the relationship between state and private capital in state-own firms, and ends the machinations of minority shareholding crooks,” – wrote Nayem on his Facebook page.
He added that the law will enter into effect concerning state firms upon signing, while for private firms starting January 1, 2016.
The law was initiated by deputy Oleg Lyashko. He has been in conflict with Kolomoisky for about half a year. What is surprising, however, is that Lyashko was supported both by the Poroshenko Bloc and the Yatsenyuk faction, though not unanimously.
All of this suggests a full-scale campaign against the Dnepropetrovsk oligarch, although Kolomoisky has ways to retaliate, believe the Ukrainian media.
“In the hallways people are saying that the Rada ought to expect an invasion by the Azov battalion, the Dnepr-1 battalion, and the Right Sector, all of which are close to Kolomoisky, writes the Kiev newspaper Vesti.
Good post. Great closing sentence. Poor subjects of Brussels.
Beautifully said Saker glad your back love your articles
Beautifully said – Glad you are back
This is amazing news! Curiously, RT apparently does not mention the shutoff of gas transiting via the Ukraine, though Zero Hedge does:
Russia Cuts Off Ukraine Gas Supply To 6 European Countries:
“… gas companies in Ukraine confirmed that Russia had cut off supply; and six countries reported a complete shut-off of Russian gas.”
Perhaps The Saker erred slightly when he wrote: “Keep in mind that the EU has no other options then to purchase the Russian gas from Turkey.” RT has a map showing that Russia currently exports gas to Poland and Germany via the (non-Ukrainian-transiting) pipelines Nord Stream and Yamal. In which case the shutdown of the Ukrainian gas transit does not completely deprive the EU of gas, although it may be that gas to Germany can’t be sent on to other EU countries. This would accord with Zero Hedge’s comment that “six countries reported a complete shut-off of Russian gas.”
So although Poland and Germany may still be able to keep warm, the rest of the EU seems likely to freeze. That’s what you get when you provoke the bear beyond his limit, as the EU leaders might have known if they had any degree of intelligence or concern for their peoples.
[from Blue}
It’s not clear to me what the story is.
There is this, suggesting that several sources may have jumped the gun some, and Daily Mail may have screwed it up royally. Still, it’s major news, and Russia can cut off gas at any time. But perhaps not quite yet.
It is a problem when the MSM is an echo chamber.
http://itar-tass.com/en/economy/771204
MOSCOW, January 14. /TASS/. The Turkish Stream gas pipeline project is the sole route for Russia’s future supplies of 63 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe currently delivered via Ukraine, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller said on Wednesday.
The Gazprom head made this statement in response to a question about the fate of Russia’s South Stream gas pipeline project.
“The project is closed. The Turkish Stream is the sole route, which can deliver 63 billion cubic meters of Russian natural gas transited across Ukraine so far. There are no other options,” Miller said.
Gazprom has notified its European partners about its Turkish Stream gas pipe plans and now their task is to create the necessary gas transport infrastructure from the border of Turkey and Greece, the Gazprom head said.
“They have a maximum of several years for this. This is a very tight schedule. To comply with it, work for the construction of new trunk gas pipelines should be started in EU countries right now. Otherwise, these gas volumes may be redirected to other markets,” the Gazprom head said.
Things like this tend to happen if you declare war -even stealth war- on Russia.
What were they thinking?
Remedial education is in order I think, starting with Critical Thinking Basics and Lessons of History 101.
The Russians are very polite and considerate to give the EU plenty of notice. The ball is in the EU’s court now to get started with the construction. DIY.
http://johngaltfla.com/wordpress/2015/01/14/russia-drastically-cuts-natural-gas-to-europe-as-military-offensive-against-ukraine-begins/
Well after reading DT’s article on Russians we knew this would happen sooner or later.. Putin has been really quiet the last week. He is shunning all European events which he used to consider to be a big deal. I suppose I would too if my achievements were belittled like what the Europeans are now doing with revisionist history. I think Australia was the last straw for Putin.
But is he really going to stop gas to Ukraine? Maybe its a bluff to get the choco king to pull back the fanatics from going on the offensive. And which fool is going to fight in this kind of weather? I know the soviets got hammered when they went against the Norwegians in winter and the soviets were not like not used to the weather.. The ones who have the best logistics will always win in bad weather no matter the firepower. It is also very easy to cut off long supply lines when you cant cross the country side.
Hi Saker !!! Yes, I was actually wondering today, what Putin was up to, while all these other events such as Charle has been going on. I mean Putin is a busy man.
And I read yesterday about this ‘non-invitation’ to dear Putin, and his comment was that he thinks these commemorative events are very important. The perfect thing to say…as always.
I am onside with the sentiment of this but for one thing – Russia should make an example out of GREECE.
By make an example – I mean Russia should “Rescue” GREECE from the EU/IMF/ECB/Merkel/ Hollande etc. Russia should offer Greece the same terms as Turkey for the gas pipeline on certain conditions.
No more sanctions.
No payment in US Dollars/ Euros.
Payment in Rubles/ Yuan/ Gold etc.
Maybe Russia is putting this ultimatum forth as some sort of negotiating possibility (One would suspect as much).
A victory for Syriza next week offers Russia the chance to severely weaken the EU/Euro Fiat Empire and by extension the US Dollar Empire represented by NATO.
Yank Greece out of Euro bondage and there follows, Macedonia, Serbia, Hungary and then perhaps others.
Greece is the bandage that holds the whole ugly contraption together. Win them over.
So according to that Zerohedge article (http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-01-14/russia-cuts-ukraine-gas-supply-6-european-countries) they are still supplying Hungary?
Good on them. Greece can come back online in a couple of weeks when they get a Government that represents the people.
Syriza.
Another MASTER move on this chessboard from Russia. It is fantastic to see President Putin deploy his strategy against the Empire of chaos and its vassals.
And someone file a court injunction in Russia against the return of the Elgin Marbles before the week is out on the grounds of ‘handling stolen goods’ to put a cherry on top.
That really would. To anyone who says that would be a petty move with a potential backlash – I think it really pales when considered against halting gas flows in the dead of winter – but it does help win Greece over and away from the EU/ Euro morons.
I believe Miller told them they needed to start work on their pipelines now. That the Russian line through Turkey would be complete in 2 years and then the gas will only flow through it and the other non-Ukrainian lines.I suspect the reason they said for the EU to build the line was because of the EU demands that Russia could not solely own the line even if Russia built it.So Russia is saying “OK then you build it instead”.Now they need to finish this off by only agreeing to sell the gas for certain currencies, not including the US dollar.
Uncle Bob
How come sane people in the US never gets into positions of responsibility so they can do something?
Based on the preponderance of evidence, its’ clear to me that the West/US deserve the lion’s share of the blame for the conflict that now rages with Ukraine and between Russia and the western world.
It was the West that supported the unsavory assortment of thugs, neo-Nazis, and ultra-nationalists that seized power in a coup from the democratically-elected Yanukovych. We can argue all we want about whether he was a good boy or not, but that’s irrelevant and plays into the hands of those at the US State Department who would like to deflect attention away from the very non-democratic events (shaped behind the scenes by our influence) that led to his overthrow.
The US did the same thing with Saddam, if you recall. It’s a simple deflection: away from the actions of the US, and towards the character of the person standing in the line of fire from those actions.
In my view, if Yanukovych had not been violently deposed, Ukraine would be peaceful right now, Russia would not have had to intervene, and there would be no civil war in Ukraine and far reduced tensions between the West and Russia.
So ham-handed were those efforts to intervene in Ukraine on the part of the Obama State department that no less an historically loathsome creature than Henry Kissinger even called the US’s actions a ‘fatal mistake’:
Reckless Congress ‘Declares War’ on Russia
Dec 4, 2014
These are the kinds of resolutions I have always watched closely in Congress, as what are billed as “harmless” statements of opinion often lead to sanctions and war. I remember in 1998 arguing strongly against the Iraq Liberation Act because, as I said at the time, I knew it would lead to war. I did not oppose the Act because I was an admirer of Saddam Hussein – just as now I am not an admirer of Putin or any foreign political leader – but rather because I knew then that another war against Iraq would not solve the problems and would probably make things worse. We all know what happened next.
That is why I can hardly believe they are getting away with it again, and this time with even higher stakes: provoking a war with Russia that could result in total destruction!
If anyone thinks I am exaggerating about how bad this resolution really is, let me just offer a few examples from the legislation itself:
The resolution (paragraph 3) accuses Russia of an invasion of Ukraine and condemns Russia’s violation of Ukrainian sovereignty. The statement is offered without any proof of such a thing. Surely with our sophisticated satellites that can read a license plate from space we should have video and pictures of this Russian invasion. None have been offered.
As to Russia’s violation of Ukrainian sovereignty, why isn’t it a violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty for the US to participate in the overthrow of that country’s elected government as it did in February? We have all heard the tapes of State Department officials plotting with the US Ambassador in Ukraine to overthrow the government. We heard US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland bragging that the US spent $5 billion on regime change in Ukraine. Why is that OK?
The resolution (paragraph 11) accuses the people in east Ukraine of holding “fraudulent and illegal elections” in November. Why is it that every time elections do not produce the results desired by the US government they are called “illegal” and “fraudulent”? Aren’t the people of eastern Ukraine allowed self-determination? Isn’t that a basic human right?
The resolution (paragraph 13) demands a withdrawal of Russia forces from Ukraine even though the US government has provided no evidence the Russian army was ever in Ukraine. This paragraph also urges the government in Kiev to resume military operations against the eastern regions seeking independence.

“Russia Cuts Off Ukraine Gas Supply To 6 European Countries.”
I’m not sure on that story.I think the story is from the 2009 gas cut-off to Ukraine. And someone (by accident or on purpose) is posting it as new.I read the original, and they call Putin the Russian PM and mention nothing of the war going on in Novorossia.A new story wouldn’t call Putin the PM and would have mentioned the war.
Uncle Bob
This is the very same new york times that said Iraqi soldiers stole baby incubators and took it to iraq after throwing out the babies in it? And the massive attack force on the saudi-iraqi border?
I would not pay attention to anything the western media says about anything. I have not found a single western media outlet that was not biased and not used for propaganda and lies. Most of the time they act like they are impartial but just when you have your guard down, they wipe you off the map.
Russian version of 3rd energy package.
I ‘ve heard that Ukraine want to privatize transit pipelines…Who’s gonna buy empty pipes?
What’s next? Ask Ukraine 3 bilions or deklare bancruptcy.
Beautiful timing for maximum effect. I understand these countries have gas storage for 2-3 months so the cut off has max PR effect and galvanising effect for EU action to “DO” something while lot actually leaving populations in peril of freezing over the last months of a cold winter.
By Spring there will be not gas storage buffer supplies and a very tight pipeline build required to Greece border. Greece of course could, of course, borrow Chinese or Russian money to build terminus (helps with unemployment) and pass on their ‘transport’ costs to the passage fees for the mugs in the north who have been screwing them to date.
Of course Germany has a separate north-stream pipeline so it leaves ….yep, the French and the poodles as the meat in the sandwich.
Finally, I’m expecting to hear soon that Russia has foreclosed on Ukraine’s Gazprom debt and taken land east of Dnieper in default of payment.
Interesting times, indeed!

Some tripe from johngaltfla to get peoples attention. The entire article is some novel made up in the middle of the night. Using numerous Ukrainian sources and notice they say the rebels killed 12 people on a bus.
Then he talks about a peaceful and sleeping amerika.. Like I mentioned in my rant on amerikans, they know exactly what they are doing. but to face such evil they make up stuff to feel better, after all, how can any human live with himself after committing such atrocities.
Putin has been landing some haymakers lately.
I wouldn’t call this a Putin chess move. I’d call it a Putin “take the chess board and slam it upside Europe’s head” move.
A quenelle epaulee,great move from
Putin, check, the crowd are on their feet ,they think it’s all over, nuland sobbing, kerry smoothes his hair,O’bumole is flummoxed, flummoxed I tell ya,whoohoo.
XbNB
ps there’s more trees than people here, and my wood-stove rocks.
so Germany, who was leading the sanctions effort against Russia, will continue to get gas along with Poland while the countries who followed Germany’s requests will get no gas. That should cause some recriminations among the EU members.
Russia depends on gas sales now more than ever so I doubt they will stop shipments through Ukraine until the new pipeline system is complete. Any disruption of their gas sales would only damage their own economy as much as the EU. I think China is being offered new gas production which is still years away.
The Choice of Turkey as a new delivery hub because the troubles with Ukraine, which were numerous long before the Coup, may work but there are many questions about the stability of the MB linked government in Ankara and the revolution taking place on their southern border.
This made my day! Thank you!
I wondered how long it would take for Putin to make his next move.
Glad to see you back online.
The Daily Mail article was from 2009. ZeroHedge really hurt its credibility with this.
What is your opinion regarding the replacement of the central bank deputy? Does it increase the influence of the Eurasian sovereigns? http://russia-insider.com/en/2015/01/15/2429
Please correct me, if I am wrong but as I understand EU will get now what it wants. The main problem with Southstream was that the pipe will be owned by Gasprom, which allows afterwards Russian government to make deals with each country separately. Now the pipe will be constructed by EU, which means that Russia cannot use it as a political tool. Russia basically makes EU to build Nabucco now – once the pipe from Turkey to central Europe has been constructed, it is easy to add a few extra miles to connect it also with Iran and/or Azerbaijan. Bulgaria, Rumenia and Hungary will still get their share and the only loser(s) will be Ukraina (and Russia).
Balt
According to ZH Russia just did cut 60% of it´s deliveries trough the ukraine because of the traditional nazi-ukie “why pay when we can take and everybody else supports us?”- siphoning off of gas to EU customers.
A portion of that can be shipped through the existing Blue Stream pipe to Turkey and the rest to Germany via North Stream, but it is in any rate going to be a cold February for Rumpy Pumpy, his partner Baroso and the other pompous gay toads in Brussels. They can keep on “pumping” each other if they want to stay warm but also immediately start building pipes to avoid a second storming of their Bastille.
They just lost it all, yes, and any leverage they might have had on Russia too. That move will render the Banderastan anti-Russia project useless since nobody could pay their bills anyways.
@Alien Tech said
“But is he really going to stop gas to Ukraine? Maybe its a bluff to get the choco king to pull back the fanatics from going on the offensive.”
Putin can certainly do it. Oil and gas prices are linked. With oil prices going down and down one of the ways to put a floor to them and push them back up is to cut supply. So if you are going to cut supply, why not cut supply of gas to Europe and see what effect this has on gas and oil prices? Russia may end up making more this way than it otherwise would with an unrestrained fall in energy prices.
P.S The CAPTCHA is ridiculous!
The clear definitive statement from Putin we’ve been waiting for – wow!
Who cares if we all freeze, i’m Vanya too, down in the basement, solidarity is warmth as well.
As for Europe, there are some of us who are holding the fort and don’t care for the negative comments.
To the saker:
At 2:25 pm New York time, oil jumped $2.00 a barrel in one or two minutes after declining all day. At 3:00 it jumped another $1.00 and stayed high through Asian trading.
I searched for news… found none until this – which explains it quite clearly. Based on the market, something drastically affected energy prices.
Did some late night meetings arrange some kind of temporary solution? – perhaps! 40 minutes before the stock markets opened in Europe, the oil price dropped like a rock from the overnight highs. None of the market news explained why.
I’m not sure the gas has been cut. I can only find this story in the Daily Mail, and it reads a little funny to me. I’m tempted to wonder if the Mail was hacked, or a draft was published by mistake – I can’t find any news source in the world saying that the gas was cut off.
This is the Mail link that Zero Hedge is citing in its story:
Europe plunged into energy crisis as Russia cuts off gas supply via Ukraine
If that headline were true you should be able to hear the howl from Europe around the world.
What did happen, per the Bloomberg and LifeNews stories cited by Saker, is the head of the EU Commission had talks in Moscow on Wednesday, followed by news conference, where Gazprom CEO Miller stated categorically that Turk Stream is the only game in town, and supplies through Ukraine will cease the moment the pipeline is operational. Therefore, said Miller, Europe needs to move fast to build the necessary infrastructure from the Turkish-Greek border to supply itself.
From what I can glean, gas deliveries to Ukraine have been stable all month, and Ukraine has a contract for delivery from Gazprom into March.
The Daily Mail story in its body is citing 2007 gas import figures from Russia to the UK – this seems weird, to cite a date that old. The story almost feels like an algorithm wrote it, or a confused journalist. There have been two instances when Russia cut the gas to Ukraine, last year and a few years back, I believe.
I’m waiting for some collateral to appear on this matter. What really surprises me is how surprised everyone is simply from Miller’s stating that Turk Stream is the plan. Surely everyone knew that a few weeks back from the initial announcement by Putin? The clouds of denial I suppose, take some time to blow away.
Turkey is attacking Syria, I think, mainly for control of the energy deposits off the coasts of Syria and Lebanon. There is a rivalry between Turkey and Israel over who will get these deposits.
Russia steps in and offers Turkey the option to be a major energy hub to Europe, while at the same time, locks out Israelo-America’s great white zio-supremacist’s nazi hope in banderastan.
Besides giving Turkey a decent incentive to move east and become more fully integrated into the Eurasian block (Russia is Turkey’s #1 trading partner already, I believe), this also gives Turkey incentive to abandon it’s quest to continue attacking Syria for their resources.
I’m guessing, but I think this year will see Turkey closing down Israeli-American terrorist ops against Syria from their territory, along with a more independent Turkish place in world affairs. Such a change will not be welcomed by the ZPC/NWO fascists, so watch the zio-media. If the sods go hog wild demonising Turkey, well…
вот так
Yes very funny however please listen to condoleezza RIce youtube may 2014 interview. You may then realise that it was the US plan to sell gas to Europe. At the I thought amazing that they could openly say so.
This is completely off topic, but its such an inspiring video that I can’t resist posting the link here:

Another OT, but may be of interest to all readers who are into finance news.
By Catherine Austin Fitts
There is nothing more impressive than grace under fire.
Over the last two years, Bill Gross, former head of PIMCO, has had one of the most childish public meltdowns in the history of the bond market.
We can all appreciate why leadership responsibility for the world’s largest bond fund would be nerve racking when all signals indicate that the long-term bull market in bonds is coming to an end. The infrastructure that provides liquidity in the fixed income market was shrinking – clearly a cause for concern. When prices head south and credits weaken, just how does the largest player sell positions if redemptions accelerate?
I can even understand why one might get frustrated with the corruption behind the explosion of debt on Planet Earth. However, Gross had no problem riding that corruption and making a fortune on the financial coup d’etat while times were good. So he seemed a bit disingenuous when his whining started.
As the whining got louder, Bill’s temper tantrums drove his heir apparent out of PIMCO. There were more tempter tantrums for many months and then in a huff he resigned in 2014, making quite a public fuss. The company he sold PIMCO to, German financial services giant Allianz, was left with a mess, and no smooth leadership succession and transition.
So Gross starts a company, rides the wave of a financial coup d’etat and the financial debasement of everything, sells the company to Allianz for a huge and hideous personal profit, then years later when the going gets tough, goes into a meltdown and abrogates multiple obligations as a CEO. He abrogates his duty to provide for successful leadership after his departure. In so doing, he abrogates his obligations to Allianz and to his employees.. He then proceeds to go to another company, announcing the opening of a new fund. As bad publicity mounts, the price of PIMCO funds is negatively impacted and redemptions increase. So Gross harms the investors who trusted him with their savings.
Gross proceeds to announce a large amount of funds coming into his new fund. Later it is revealed that a large portion is coming from the broker who manages Bill’s his own money. He tried to pull a fast one.
I keep reading chatter on the Internet making Gross out to be some kind of hero for criticizing the global leadership.
JUST WHO DO THESE COMMENTATORS THINK MADE A PERSONAL FORTUNE ENGINEERING THE BOND BUBBLE AND FINANCING THE CORRUPTION IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Where was Bill Gross when $4 trillion went missing from the US Treasury from October 1998 to September 2002? I will tell you were he was – he was busy selling PIMCO to the Germans for a huge and hideous profit. While he was doing so, “mums the word” on the real deal on the fraud in the US bond market. Given the divergence between the number of mortgages collateralizing pools in mortgage securities markets and the number of actual homes or between the amount of US Treasuries on the US balance sheet and the US Treasuries floating around in the markets, don’t tell me that Bill Gross did not know. And if he did not, what does that say about his research and analysis? The statute of limitations is probably up, but I will bet you $1 that Mr. Gross declined to disclose to the Germans everything he knew about the risks in the US bond and dollar denominated fixed income markets.
Ecclesiastes 10 is a pretty good prediction of what Gross can expect, “He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.”
Meantime, there has not been one unprofessional word from Allianz or PIMCO. If I missed something, let me know. I expect they are doing their best to do the right thing for all concerned – investors, shareholders, employees.
My compliments to the PIMCO management for grace and discernment under fire. They are not out of the woods yet, but so far their discipline in communications is a good sign.
I’m impressed.
But it is a good thing if Russia would stay away from the Auschwitz mythology.
that will happen in 2018 only, Gazprom’s Miller said that after the current transit agreement with the Ukraine expires in 2018, Gazprom will not renew it and the Fourth Reich vassals still have three years ahead of them to build a supplementary pipe line to Turkey. The criminal statelet of Poland can be supplied with gas via Germany by means of the North Stream. The Ukraine will be cut off from gas in 2018 however I hope that it won’t exist by then.
seems that zero hedge is either ahead of the actual news or incoherent in this matter of RU gas delivery to RU.
it has not happened.
the Daily Mail article is from 2009
The news seem quite contradictory.
RT and Bloomerg does not report any immediate shotdown but simply that the Southstream will be abandoned for good and that Turkey will be the key to deliver gas to south Europe.
The other streams through Poland and Germany, and I believe through Ukraine as well as it is not mentioned in RT and Bloomerg, are still functioning.
Only Zerohedge reports a shotdown but he quotes what I think is an old article from the DailyMail since said article also talks of an Isreali offensive in Gaza which is not taking place right now.
It seems to me that this panic is quite useless.

Isn’t it unrealistic that this move would come now?
What is this info based on?
A article on Bloomberg?
Isn’t Bloomberg part of the western bullshit media, which comes with lies and half-truths all the time?
Russia will still need the income from the gas business with Europe.
The infrastructure for the gas deal with China is not yet in place, and will unlikely be before some day in 2017. Likewise is the infrastructure through Turkey not yet in place.
Now if Turkey leaves the EU and makes the gas sales only in rubles. This could get real ugly for EU. Just a thought.
Putin is having a battle of wits with unarmed opponents.
Saker I hope all is well for you and yours.
The Daily Mail article talking about a gas cut-off is from 2009.
On Putin noninvitation to commemorate 70 years of liberation of Auschwitz
by Red Army
——————–
Polish government has just descended to a new level of moral depravity.
It appears that it was not enough that they set up a new type of
concentration camps where their western patrons can torture
“extraordinary renditioned” civilians more or less secretly. Just like
Nazis did in 1941.
Now, they are attempting to block historical evidence of WWII and who actually
liberated Auschwitz and thus try to hide the western crimes of not preventing
this massive extermination earlier by bombing railroad tracks.
I really believe that they are truly mortified that Putin might actually say
something along these lines, or even worse, make a parallel to current fascist
onslaught and attempted extermination of Donbass population for western
fracking and mineral profits.
In the summer of 1975, I visited my father’s birthplace, home and school in eastern Poland, and then we went to visit Auschwitz memorial grounds, where
few of our relatives perished. When we arrived at the parking lot, there were only a few cars but over 15 buses full of school kids of all ages. Puzzled, I
went to see where are they from and found out that all buses had USSR plates
and that it was a planed yearly visit. Not a single Polish bus, or Israeli bus,
or European bus. Several weeks later, after I read a few witness accounts,
it downed on me how many Red Army soldiers perished in Auschwitz. And it
became clear why USSR thought it important to create
a collective memory and empathy for its children. That was long time before
Holocaust was “industrialized” by western powers. (google Norman Finkelstein’s
book on this topic and his ordeals after). Nowadays, organized children visits,
by Israeli and American Jewish organizations are much more common and frequent,
but the motivation is not quite the same. Israel gov. itself had a rather bipolar
attitude towards Holocaust and its survivors, largely
ignoring it, except for Kastner (1954) and Eichmann (1961) trials, until
these deep emotional, financial, legal, political, educational and other
unresolved issues forced it, in the mid 1960’s, to embrace it and deal with it.
Not to everyone’s satisfaction.
In his book, ‘I escaped from Auschwitz’, Rudolf Vrba stated that his escape
would have been impossible without help from a Red Army officer who provided
him and his friend with a mix of machorka tobacco and hot pepper, the only one
in officer’s experience that can repell tracking dogs. These two escapes (and there
were only a handful successful escapes) brought to west the first witness accounts of
what is happening in Auschwitz but they were largely ignored.
I do think that Putin understands importance of these commemorations much more deeply
then the western politicians, as his brother died in the Leningrad siege. I also
saw him recently (Oct. 2014) on a military parade commemorating 70 years of liberation
of Belgrade in 1944, when Red Army, together with Yugoslav partizans, fought 6 bloody days/nights, street by street, until wehrmacht retreated. Putin first visited a large cemetery for the liberators of Belgrade, then stood for hours on the rain observing parade, but did not use umbrella.

Not reported on TASS, Sputnik, or RT. ANNA News has a verbal report in Russian, but since I don’t understand Russian much beyond Da and Nyet, and there are no subtitles in English, I will have to wait and see what exactly this means.
As, cut off the gas flow through Ukraine right now, or after the pipeline is built to western Turkey?
There’s a world of difference.
I was wondering for a long time why the F Russia continues supplying life support to countries clearly hostile to them, like an incompetent dog owner encouraging his dog’s aggression instead of enforcing the boundary.
I trusted that this was a clever strategy of Russia that we might understand soon but I was losing hope as they kept doing things compliant to Uncle Sam’s wishes.
For example, they STILL continued supplying gas to Ukraine in 2014 amidst the Nazi insurrection.
Finally it seems they are fighting back. Let the fucking EU starve and collapse already and let the genocidal fascist states of America reap their misery like it should be.
I agree with Julian, if Russia offers a lifeline to Greece and a way out of the EU’s clutches it would be a wonderful thing. It has been miserable to watch Greece get torn apart by this duplicitous Western elite. Right now, like many who read and comment on this blog, I feel like I’m from the West but not of the West. I detest everything it stands for.
is not part of this now? Seems they got the domain back and fixed it. But the more flashy it is, the harder it is to maintain it. Saw japan join the french in trying to recreate their empire. Seems people just never learn.
There are limits to freedom of expression when religion is insulted, agencies quoted Pope Francis as saying in reference to the cartoons in the satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo. However, he also pointed out that killing in God’s name is an ‘absurdity’.
Great news but is it confirmed? i cant find it in the official channels. But if it is true, this is a whole new page in the conflict
A few hours ago it said “updated on the 15th of January 2015” above the Daily Mail article. Now the date seems to have vanished, it just says “updated”. Strange.
Dear The Saker,
Well Russia has made it very clear South Stream is dead and the EU needs to build its own pipeline/3rd party package to Turkey – great let them pay for their pipeline. End of discussion. If Ukraine starts syphoning off gas – Russia will switch it off.
Russia has also stated that they may call in 3bn loan too.
Pressure is piling up on the weak, corrupt and pathetic EU leadership.
Read yesterday Poland has stopped reverse flows to Ukraine. At the same time US vultures John Kerry and “FU EU” Nuland are on their way to Bulgaria to discuss Ukraine, TIPP and energy due to Russia not going ahead with South Stream…….hmm I wonder which country screwed that up….
Good news. Await the next bomb shells from Russia.
In regard to Aushweitz, after Yats re-writing of history last week; it seems the EU, like Ukraine, wants to re-write history. Frankly, I hope no Russians go to Aushweitz and snub the Poles who seem to still like hosting camps with people being renditioned there to this day. This revision of history makes me feel disgusted tbh. All those lives lost :(
Russia will commemorate all of this at the 70th celebrations.

Lost the link, but the NAF have been driving UAF from Donetsk Airport.

Way off mark, again. Nothing’s happened. This was a bogus story in the Daily Mail. It was of course linked to on Zero Hedge: the “financial” blog that’s been wrong about everything in the last 6 years.
First off, it will take years before the pipelines to China are operational. They haven’t even started construction yet.
Secon, even it were true, how come Germany, the leader in economic sanctions against Russia is not listed?
Finally, Europe is not waging an ideological war against Muslims.
The empire’s elites are using mass Muslim migration to destroy Europe from within.
This is why Putin, until the sold-out European “leaders” has always emphasized a demographic policy through RUSSIAN birth rate, not through immigration.
Unless Saker is telling me that Putin is waging an ideological war against people from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, etc. by not replicating Europe’s model?
How come Putin is not opening the doors to a flood of immigrants like Europe has done in the last 30 years, huh?
Saker et al.
I would like to point everyone’s attention to Switzerland.

Now for the Russian context – a lot of Russian oligarchs and ordinary Russians have Swiss bank accounts, is this another Cyprus?
Back in December Putin tried to persuade Russians to bring their money back to Russia

Saker,
Moscow is going to take control of South Ossetia. Putin will likely sign the treaty this week.

Brilliant move and timing by Putin.
At Jan 25, Greece has elections and all polls show the radical left party of Syriza will probably win. They seem to be on collision course with EU and we already see revived talk about throwing Greece out of the eurozone, in case Syriza will not comply with EU demands.
And now EU must negotiate a pipeline with the country that threatens to throw out of the EU? Brilliant, simply brilliant!
RT actually has a decent interview this morning as Tony Gosling tells RT:
“Well David Cameron’s policies are influenced by Washington, but I don’t think directly, I think through the City of London, because the big financiers in the big banks in the City are really part of the same organization as Wall Street and actually the same in many ways as the Swiss and the European Central Bank. These financiers have a very different view of the world to ordinary people. They are the financial elite. So they have very little contact with most of the rest of us and those are the kinds of people that are really telling David Cameron what his policies should be. We have very little real democracy left in Britain, because most of the top ends of all the political parties now have been bought by this closely-knit financial center. The finance people and the military though do get together and they lobby politicians right across Europe not only in Britain.”
The E.U. applauds the cancellation of South Stream:
