The competition who will control energy supplies to Southern Europe is 20 years old. BP was unable to muster finances and they were outmaneuvered by Gazprom with the proposal of the South Stream line across the Black Sea.
If the South Stream had become a reality Gazprom would have controlled gas and oil supplies from Central Asia and the Middle East. This energy corridor is Russia Gordian Knot which the West has been cutting every time it was tied.
Gas and oil are reserve currency of Russia at this time. This flow of cash to Russia is a threat to US petro dollar, IMF as well as the World Bank which are US weapons used to dominate and control small nations around the world.
The BRICS countries and the BRICS bank are a threat to this US financial domination. The wars in Iraq, North Africa and now Syria are US wars to destabilize the growth of the BRICS union and a process to eliminate nations like Libya, Iraq Iran and Syria, from dumping the petro dollar and joining the BRICS as they intended to do.
EU and USA and consortium of Western Oil and Gas companies succeeded in brow beating Bulgaria so Bulgarians caved in and did not allow Russia to make land in Bulgaria with the South Stream gas pipeline.
Turkey came onboard and a new route was planned through Turkey, Greece and via Macedonia to Southern Europe and Northern Italy as well. A branch line was planned across the Adriatic to Southern Italy. .
This project was a go but now the EU and USA went after Macedonia just like they did against Bulgaria. US and EU here used Albanian Muslims and opposition parties in Macedonia supplying them with cash and advisors to topple the Macedonian government that wanted this project. That is an ongoing politial battle now.
Now that Turkey was onboard for the new gas line from Central Asia . EU and BP had to eliminate that move and they did that by shooting down Russia’s SU-24. The Syrian war has nothing to do with EU or US hate for Assad they want Syria so that they can connect gas pipelines from the Middle East and Leviathan-Tamar fields off the coast of Israel and bring this gas into Southern Europe (Balkans, Italy, and the countries surrounding the Balkans) thus eliminating Russia.
Even Germany is under attack for planning to twin the Nord Stream and use Russian gas from the Arctic. This is a chess game and every mover that Russia makes the West counters with their own move using illegal pressure and criminality to achieve their goal control of this market from the Middle East and at the same time slow down Russia’s rise as a world power. If you think that this security council agreement on Syria will be honored you also believe in leprechauns . US did not honor many resolutions and the most blatant one was the Kosovo resolution which they did not honor either.
Neither the USA or Israel honor any agreement they make. Probably never have. Dealing with the current Europe is at best, dealing with a schizo.
This comment hits the nail on the head.
It also implies the current geopolitical struggle is about hegemony, not multipolarity, which is a different beast in terms of dealing out morality on the global stage.
For example, Russia moving to initiate hegemony by controlling global cash flows via the oil and gas trade (and therefore the reserve currency denomination) isn’t really motivating to the so-called arm chair general, like myself.
I want to find a way out of the global mistreatment of humanity and society, not grease the throne for a new Ass.
There is a big difference between the two. The European consumers only want one thing out of this situation, that is cheap, secure, gas. They don’t care where it comes from. The one able to provide that is Russia. So naturally,if given a fair field Russia would be the biggest supplier. But that doesn’t fit the desires of the US and the EU stooges that work for them. So they try every crooked trick they can to prevent that. Its not Russia’s business to help their competitors to supply gas to Europe. That’s the competitors job. If they can’t handle that. And need to try to cripple Russia’s ability to supply the gas, there we have a problem. As the map showed ,the competitors could have built their own pipelines if they could have come up with the money. But instead they choose to stop Russia from building their lines. That is the difference between a multi-polar World and the US version of a uni-polar World. One makes the World fair for all. The other twists the rules to favor themselves.
You seem to believe that Russia is the Power in the world that dominates and fleeces the rest of the planet. Nope, Russia is the one country that is steadfastly resisting the thieves and gangsters of the planet in their endless and merciless pursuit of ever more exploitation.
All that trouble to provide us with a commodity we don’t even need.
There are a multitude of other ways to harvest energy from the planet,
I’m not on about hocus pocus, I’m referring to geothermal, wind, tidal, biomass.
Even the diesel engine was originally designed to run on peanut oil.
I want only to elaborate a little bit on the part regarding Bulgaria. The last month there was and still is an interesting development there. Part of the Bulgarian Ministerial Board attended an economic forum in China and in the same time key figure Minister (the Minister of Justice) resigned. This minister and this pledged Judaical reform was the US/NATO/Brussels project and now is in full stop and the Prime Minister (Boiko Borisov, Google about him) has succeeded in mediating between all involved external parties and a new minister has come on board (of course she won’t carry the pledged reform and us/nato/brussels know that). and during all this noise a river of economic/financial news related to china passed under the radar of the ‘free media’. so my advise is to watch closely because my people (yes, i am Bulgarian) are well known trough the history for strategical 180 degree turnovers in favor of our big brother – Russia. Even when these turnovers has cost us and our neighbors sweat, blood and money we had taken them (or rather our politicians). also watch close the new rapprochement between Bulgaria and Turkey – a key meeting was held in Sofia between Davatoglu and Borisov and another one was scheduled for april, 2016. Think about this meetings and diplomacy rather like a background chanel between Russia and Turkey and less like US/NATO/Brussels’s backgraound chanel (obviously they don’t need one). Something fishy’s going on here and the smell is rather palpable already. The current Bulgarian politicians (scum and marauders) have read the writings on the wall and even that they are extremely shortsighted in terms of geopolitics and long term economy they have somehow seen (or have been shown) a way to add positives to their agendas and financial aspirations. Watch closely the Balkans, it was, is and always will be a gun keg ready to be blown. It looks like the time to be used in the grand chessboard has come again (I hope I am wrong).
P.S. Balkans will be stable and secure only when a Balkan Federation or some kind of economic/political/military pact between Bulgarians, Serbians (in the grand meaning of that, like Yugoslavians), FYROMians, Romanians and Grecians comes in existence.
@Blakanian:
You quite accurately state that in the past your country has made a few ‘180 turns’…
And – if by that you mean that you’ve allied with the Nazis during WWII (AGAINST RUSSIA!), and then when your ally lost the war, you made one of those ‘180’s’ you describe, and turned to “your Russian brothers” – you would be absolutely correct!
Oh, and by the way, calling Macedonians “FYROMians” is a good way to start uniting with them…I rather believe Andrew Korybko’s analysis about Bulgaria: It’s a turncoat nation that will fight Russia on the behalf of the US, and if Russia prevails in that fight – you’d do another of those famous 180’s (that you so eloquently described) and choose your ‘Russian brothers’ once again.
Great brothers, eh?
By the way – there is much hatred in Bulgaria towards Serbia, why do you think that is?
You are right on most of that. But remember, while allied with the nazis, the Bulgarians refused to declare war on Russia. They didn’t fight on the nazi side against Russia (they were allied against the other allies only). When the Soviets were able to liberate the Balkans they had to declare war themselves to be able to drive the nazis from Bulgaria. As to the current situation you are right. The Bulgarians have fallen into the same trap as the rest of the Europeans. And are betraying their own selves by siding against Russia.
Correct. They never officially declared war against the SU, but there were minor battles that were fought between the two, especially in the Black Sea.
To be completely honest, I like Bulgarians. And I quite agree with his idea that a sort of a union between Slavic states (especially Orthodox Slavic) would be the best defense against “the Empire”…not possible until every Balkan state (insignificant by itself) understands that. Unfortunately (as seen from his ignorance shown towards Macedonians) – it’s not happening any time soon.
Too many people are concentrated on what divides them, rather than on what unites them in the Balkans. Laughable, considering that there are far less of the former than the later.
Exactly why it’s so easy for ‘the empire’ to play their ‘divide et impera’ games…
The dog in the manger foreign policy.
We can’t do it, but you won’t do it, either.
Katherine.
I.e., “balkanize.”
Katherine
Sorry if I someone’s feelings were hurt but the name of the country is FYROM and according to all historical references the Macedonians in fact were ancient Greeks. if I call the fyromians Macedonians this will be utter insult. i know the country has some identity problems and is trying to mix a lot of contradictions and false assumptions in its identity scope but i am sure time will rectify that and our neighbors will find their real identity. By the way when FYROM was created my country was the only one that gave the new country military, economic and humanitarian aid. even after we were packed under the eu flag all bulgarian governments are maintaining a very good stance toward FYROM and try to cushion the official Serbian and Greek stances. I think that when this nuance about the name of the country is resolved this can be the start of this pan-balkanian formation.
From a fellow Bulgarian, I so wish your PS. happened. Unfortunately The Empire will never let the the Orthodox Balkans unite or federate.
Just think what they did to Yugoslavia, now imagine something bigger?
They will also never even let us be friendly to each other but constantly plant seeds of hatred and nurture them. They will create hatred and keep rewriting history.
If Bulgarians even dare to resist The Empire, the all the sudden “ethnic” hatred between Bulgarians and the minority Turks and Gipsies will all the sudden explode. The Empire can easily create a Bosnia or Kosovo in one of the many rural regions with Turkish / Muslim (Pomak) majorities.
As for Bulgaria, contrary to proud Serbia we have “bowed” to the all the Empires for at least the last 100 years since Ottoman rule. Nazi, Habsburg, Soviet, Neocon… From one point of view, it saved us millions of lives in wars and civil wars. From another point of view how many lives did it take?
Many Bulgarians rather not have an important geo-strategic pipeline. It would again put us in the middle of a potential conflict. People know that potential revenue would end up in the pockets of the wrong people anyway.
Unfortunately Russia didnt play their card well with Bulgaria the last 25 years (not blaming them, same goes for The Ukraine). One of the effects were the co-operation with Russian oligachs and the Bulgarian ones.
Blakanian,
” P.S. Balkans will be stable and secure only when a Balkan Federation or some kind of economic/political/military pact between Bulgarians, Serbians (in the grand meaning of that, like Yugoslavians), FYROMians, Romanians and Grecians comes in existence.”
Agreed.
I. The Germans could not attack Russia without first destroying Yugoslavia and neutralizing their Serbian cousins.
In 1940, for the Axis, (Fascist Germany and Italy) to dominate South East Europe, and enable them to attack Russia, is was necessary for them to break up and occupy the Balkan nations. The fascist imperialists had to destroy Yugoslavia, which stood in their path, and by its existence, blocked the Southern approach and prevented any attack on Russia.
II. The Americans cannot not attack Russia without first destroying Yugoslavia and neutralizing their Serbian cousins.
In 1990, the Zionist American Fascists once more destroyed Yugoslavia. The planned atomization of the Ballkan peoples weakened their natural resistance to outside political and economic domination, — and opened the road for the expansion of Zio-American NATO and future invasion of the Kievan Ukraine, (where Russia was born).
III. Historic Pattern: First destroy Yugoslavia – Next attack Russia.
A. Economic Sanctions: are an act of War.
1. After the absorption (some might write – liquidation) of the Ukraine, it has to become a staging area for surrounding, and, future direct attacks upon Russia. It is the imperialist triggered confrontation over the fate of the Russian population of the Ukraine, that has enabled their Oligarchs to institute a whole range of (new) Economic (as well as military), Sanctions against Russia.
2. The latest version of the economic sanctions against Russia is the attempt to completely Divorce Russia from all economic connection to Europe and the Americas.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) of the imperialists has just ruled that (essentially) no nation need repay its Debts to Russia. Their first ruling was that their Ukraine Junta need not honor their contractual commitments with Russia. They can hold onto the $3 Billion loan from Russia, and never repay it. By translation, the Zionist American Oligarchs will support any nation that wishes to renege on its contractual obligations to repay Russian loans. Therefore, Russia is as cut off from the lifeblood, of world human and economic commerce, with the rest of the planet, as is the Moon. A Death Sentence by any other name.
How will Russia do business now? By Barter? You give us 1000 Oranges, and we will give you a Tank?
China, might be the next to receive this treatment, if it allies with Russia, rather than come over to the Dark side.
3. This ruling by the Zionist American IMF, (as I wrote on this forum some 2 weeks ago), as completely separates Russia from Europe and America, and most of the rest of the world, as a Direct Declaration of War. Imagine, a husband and wife being told they can no longer have sexual relations. What effect do you think that order might have on their marriage?
In military terms, The IMF ruling is the real body blow, and the downing of the Russian bomber, a mere jab.
The Road to Freedom – is through a VISION.
Yours or mine; it does not matter, as long as it is well thought out, and contains some love.
1. The Russian leaders must uphold their Republic and imprison their Oligarchs!
2. They must show some empathy for the growing Resistance in Europe, beginning with that in France. If Vladimir Putin can manage to say some positive things about that American counter-insurgent agent, Donald Trump, then what is his problem with noting the far more principled courage of the Le Pens and their National Front?
Is he aware of the Zionist turn in his media, and Russian foreign policy? It is not about Jews; it is about right and wrong; it is about the Vision, without which, as explained in Orwell’s “1984,” there is no hope or possibility for a happy future. Tolkien’s forces of Good triumph because of the courage (and human vision) of the ‘little’ Hobbits.
Merry Christmas to all!
Show a little love for those Democratic Republics!
Hear hear!
Re: great game for oil. The White House is not going to push for direct confrontation with Russia in the mid East –Yet. They backed down the Turks and are keeping the Israelis in check sort of. However, they figure there is much more to do with “soft” tactics like regime undermining, keeping Europe, especially Germany in line, and the diversion of wasting everyone’s energy trying to determine who is a ” Moderate” terrorist and thus OK and who is not.
this is more subtle and is like a big bag springing multiple leaks–it is hard to control but the strategy has the advantage of being very boring to their own audience and confusing to the people involved. Looks as if there is capable leadership in the popular organizations of Montenegro however. Leadership is important which is why targeted assassination or staged “accidents” are such an important “soft” tactic.
It is good to have the big picture but also to understand that the devil is in the details–who is bought off, how to confuse the issues, where is the weak point to be exploited, and when to tip the cart over. This is the nitty gritty of the Great Game and pragmatic Americans love this but the White tribe can be impatience and arrogant–and the Russians can depend on that even if the White House has sent Kerry to tell them what they want to hear. Watching Nuland glowering by clueless Kerry at the Moscow meeting shows us us that a H. Clinton/ V. Nuland combo will be a deadly duo sooner or later.
We can hope not.
Great comment and article by Vuki.
