Alexander Mercouris and Mark Sleboda make minced meat out of Anders Aslund. And just for the record, keep in mind that “from November 1991 to January 1994, Åslund worked as a senior advisor to the Russian reform government under President Boris Yeltsin and Acting Prime Minister Yegor Gaidar. He worked also with Deputy Prime Ministers Anatoly Chubais” (Wikipedia). So that “democrat” was hard at work for democracy while Russia was being pillaged by the oligarchs and Eltsin used tanks to shoot at the Russian Parliament. QED.
From Ian Welsh:
Back in 2012, a security researcher in the United Statestold an audience of hackers in New York that the NYPD routinely used IMSI catchers at the Occupy Wall Street protests, enabling the intelligence division to keep nearly perfect records of every person in attendance.

These think tank “pundits” are not used to be challenged like this when pontificate in the western media. So when challenged by a well-articulated argument they go bonkers. Literally, this all it takes to get them off balance – a well-articulated argument challenging the very base of their worldview. I should say that the deck was clearly stacked against Asplund on this show, but he definitely did not rise up to the challenge honorably.
If you want another example of similar collapse under challenge, listen to the broadcast of a New Zealand radio program, where Thomas Friedman – the prominent member of NY Times editorial board and omni-present media pundit – is getting challenged on the premises of his arguments. The guy very quickly goes completely berserk…

Brinfs to mind the recent report of mass texts from the Ukraine.

Watch this,

Bouthaina Shaaban is a Syrian politician and is currently the political and media adviser to the President of Syria. Shaaban served as the first Minister of Expatriates for the Syrian Arab Republic, between 2003 and 2008, and has been described as the Syrian “regime’s face to the outside world.”
