So it is done. Yanukovich has fully capitulated. He has signed a deal with the insurgents which, according to the BBC, includes the following provisions:
- The 2004 constitution will be restored within 48 hours, and a national unity government will be formed within 10 days
- Constitutional reform balancing the powers of president, government and parliament will be started immediately and completed by September
- A presidential election will be held after the new constitution is adopted but no later than December 2014 and new electoral laws will be passed
- An investigation into recent acts of violence will be conducted under joint monitoring from the authorities, the opposition and the Council of Europe
- The authorities will not impose a state of emergency and both the authorities and the opposition will refrain from the use of violence
- Illegal weapons will be handed over to interior ministry bodies
What does really mean in plain, simple, English?
The so-called “return to the 2004 Constitution” really means that the President has handed over the control of all the police and security forces to the Parliament. Hence, from a legal point of view, he has handed over to the insurgents the legal command over the Berkut riot cops who were beaten up, burned, maimed, tortured and killed by these very same insurgents, but under orders from Yanukovich not to use lethal force. In the light of this absolute monstrosity, I can only applaud the foresight and wisdom of the governors of Kharkov and Crimea who have called back their local Berkut forces.
The so-called “national unity government” means that the insurgents will get to run the country but without having to bear the full responsibility for the economic, political and social disaster the Ukraine is going to be plunged into.
As for the so-called “investigation into recent acts of violence” it will clear all the insurgents and terrorists from any accusations of wrongdoing and put all the blame on the policemen who tried to maintain law and order and protect the Presidency.
Needless to say, the real leaders of insurgency, the so-called ‘Right Block’, have rejected the accord and have promised to continue their ‘resistance’ until complete regime-change.
This latest development really turns a page. The experiment of a Ukraine as a unitary state has clearly failed and, short of a miracle, a civil war followed by a breakup of the country in two or more parts is now inevitable. Kiev has fallen and the new “Eastern Front” has now moved roughly 400km to the east. A long conflict is about to begin.
The Saker
PS: I have just learned that the insurgent-controlled Parliament has voted to free Timoshenko. Good! I hope that they give her cell to Yanukovich now, as he is infinitely more deserving of it than she ever was.
An incredible country, the first thing they do is to free the most corrupted lady in the country!
Really insane! Now we can buy popcorn and watch the news as they will fight…

Well, I told you so. Yanukovich follows EXACTLY in the footsteps of another vile, spineless coward and traitor — Czechoslovakia’s Eduard Beneš of 80 years earlier. He surrendered unconditionally to Nazi Germany and its agent provocateurs in the westernmost part of the country, despite
1) a heavily fortified border
2) a disciplined, devoted army
and
3) a defence pact with the Soviets who were very ready to honour their obligations as per request. Sucking up to the Westg took precedence over decency and self-respect.
Well, much good did this grovelling do, when the Germans eventually grabbed the entire country as they had intended to all along.
Yanukovich will, in all likelihood, do what Beneš also did after having sold out to Western imperialism: Leave the mess behind and live a comfortable life in, yes, Western exile. Like Beneš, Yanukovich only has to be a little cautious in his escape so as not to be outright sodomized by the most violently insane Nazis thirsting for blood.
Dear Saker,
I agree with every point you have made.
Here is my take on today’s agreement, which I put up on my Facebook page:
“Anyone doubting that Ukrainian politics are totally dysfunctional should consider what the outcome of 3 months of murder and mayhem is. Yanukovitch remains President with exactly the same powers Yushchenko had. A Presidential election is brought forward to December from March. An utterly rancorous parliament dominated by oligarch interests is given more powers with no talk of its dissolution. A Judgment of the Constitutional Court is set aside with the support of the EU’s stalwart defenders of judicial independence and of the rule of law. There will be a substantial government reshuffle. And Tymoshenko is released.
All of this could have been achieved if Klitschko or even Yatsenyuk had won the Presidential election in March 2015 which every pre November opinion poll clearly showed they would do. Was it worth all the deaths and damage and the further degradation of the Ukraine’s political system to achieve this outcome a little sooner? Was this what it was all for so that there could be a reshuffle within the Ukraine’s permanently dysfunctional elite which gives a gaggle of opposition politicians government jobs they have not been elected to?
For the first and (I hope) last time I even find myself agreeing with Yarosh: this is not a revolution. It’s not even a coup. It’s a cynical game in which members of the Ukraine’s elite shuffle around Yarosh and his people and the young men of the Interior Ministry and the police like a set of playing cards.”
I also agree with on Tymoshenko. She is undoubtedly corrupt and is very probably responsible for contract killings but she is intelligent and has worked well with Putin in the past. I suspect she will have Klitschko and Yatsenyuk for breakfast.
Dear Saker,
Just one very quick last comment.
I am very relieved that Lukin, Putin’s representative, refused to sign for Russia on this shabby deal. That way when it falls apart (which it will) Russia is not bound by it.
@Nussiminen: amazing and most interesting comparison. I will read up in more details about Beneš and his policies.
Yanukovich will, in all likelihood, do what Beneš also did after having sold out to Western imperialism: Leave the mess behind and live a comfortable life in, yes, Western exile
Yes, unless some disgusted and mad Berkut cop shoots the sorry SOB.
@Alexander: I suspect she will have Klitschko and Yatsenyuk for breakfast.
Oh yes, and Tiagnibok as an appetizer. I fully agree with you that she is a nasty bitch but, unlike these Three Ukrainian Stooges, she is smart and she is tough. Honestly, and you might think me crazy for saying so, but in a paradoxical way she might be the only chance to avoid a civil war and keep the country together. Because she is a realist and not a crazed ideologue, and she is a cynical bitch, but she is definitely not a neo-Nazi.
Following her will be really very very interesting. I hope that she makes Yanukovich pay, pay very very dearly, for her time in jail. I hope that her vengeance will be feminine, refined, and excruciatingly painful for that traitor :-)
She should begin by seizing all his money held in Switzerland…
Many thanks and kind regards,
The Saker
One can hope that Tymoshenko’s release will result in her murder with Klitschko’s people getting “caught in the act”. That would remove the two most sellable puppets the ziofascists are pushing on Ukraine and set their political marketing schemes back quite a bit. Wont happen, but…. ;)
Hopefully the eastern/southern part of the Ukraine will manage to separate itself from the Jewish mafia/neo-nazi mess in the west and avoid being another Jewish mafia created failed state designed to be squeezed of it’s remaining wealth and provide cannon fodder and forward military bases in their onward march for world domination.

O man, what a disgusting dance of rats!
What about the pro-Russian regions now?
However, since nobody is going to honor the agreement, they should continue with the course of independence from that sesspool of a country & join Russia via referendum if they care about their future at all. Otherwise, they will be the main targets of the crazed neonazi-zionist mab.
This is a clear picture what is going on right now in Ukraine

As usual, the zio-Jews are at their old game of upping the ante at any sign of weakness:
Little mood for compromise on Kiev’s battered Independence Square
http://news.yahoo.com/little-mood-compromise-kiev-39-battered-independence-square-203157600.html
“The one point that kept them firmly united: Yanukovych must go. Now.
“Elections in December are not enough. He has to leave now. Otherwise he could end up like Kadhafi or Ceausescu,” said Oleh Bukoyenko, a ribbon with “Glory to the heroes” pinned to his chest.
When a speaker from jailed former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko’s party suggested that Yanukovych should be allowed to leave the country to avoid more bloodshed, many in the crowd objected loudly.
“No, no, no,” they shouted back, waving their index fingers in the air.
“It was a crime against humanity and Yanukovych should be sent to The Hague,” said Kiev resident Sergei Yanchukov, 58, sipping coffee from a paper cup.”
I’m sure the zionazi media is united in giving that next phase of the propaganda message throughout and they will keep demanding more “pounds of flesh” until the Ukraine has become an impoverished failed state and “coler rev” staging ground under full zionazi control who provide their quota of nazi mercs to do Tel Aviv’s bidding further east and south.

Benes almost fought in ’38. Had the French and Brits not betrayed the Czechs, they would have fought.
Problem with the Soviet/Czech treaty is that Soviets did not have a border with Slovakia. They would have had to go through Poland and Poland would not give permission, and wanted a piece of the Czech state for themselves.
I don’t blame Benes. I blame the French and Brits.

Agree. In early-mid 38 the Germans were not ready for the sort of war conquering CZ would have entailed and the CZ military was quite well equipped and manned. The nazis were bluffing, but their UK/French allies (then*) made sure the bluff worked. Things really have not changed much since then, an Indie USSR then, or an indie Russia now, is still a threat to western fascist dominance.
* The western capitalist oligarchy was behind all the fascist movements of the 20-30’s, Mussolini, Franco, the nazis, and the fascist regimes carved off Russia during the insurgencies run against the USSR during the Russian revolution that culminated in the creation of the USSR. Poland, the Baltics, much of eastern Europe was run by fascist oligarchies during the 20-30’s, very much aligned with the worst of such scum in the west, much like they are now. Which is why descendants of the same fascists are so popular with the western fascists now. They’re “family”. Hitler was a plug, the same as any other clueless tin pot dictator these corporate fascists facilitate to power and support, and true to form, he gave them exactly what they wanted. Initially, at least, as the USSR was supposed to end up a debilitated land of shell craters, incapable of resistance or recovery.

Beneš was a spineless coward and a Western traitor — no more, no less. The most damning testimony of this fact is how he repeatedly asked the Soviet ambassador whether the USSR would honour its obligations in whatever contrived circumstances Beneš could invent in his own head. He was deeply saddened as the USSR failed to renege since this would have served as the supreme pretext for unconditional surrender to the West and its German attack dog.
As for the 100 odd kilometres of Pshek territory separating the USSR and Slovakia — big deal. If this is to be taken seriously, how could Britain and France possibly have helped Czechoslovakia with the aggressor’s ENTIRE TERRITORY inbetween?
Anyway, in the case of the Ukraine, there is NO such problem with regard to its eastern and southern parts, especially since Russia refused to give consent to the imperialist diktat — with good reason. Braindead Ukro Nazis will be just über-elated to stir up all kinds of trouble in Russia for the Greater Good of their Western sponsors. If a Ukro Nazi faces resistance, the most typical response amounts to “Holodomor” and suchlike crap.
Russia will have to take down the beast once again.
It would be stupid disarm. Lviv parliament has declared souvereignity over Lviv. That is the way to go.
Compromises have already been tried. Nothing new there exvept the return of the oligarcy.
Venezuela revokes CNN journalists’ press credentials for ‘war propaganda’
http://rt.com/news/venezuela-cnn-coverage-propaganda-165/
Cheers to Venezuela. Hopefully they wont stop with just CNN, but show the rest of the zionazi media the door. These are not news media and exist only to further ziofascist/NWO interests. They are war criminals of the same sort Goebbels was and an important part of the war crimes, and crimes, the western fascists commit. I’ve long thought, and said, the best way to deal with the totally corrupt Jewish owned/run western media is to boycott them into bankruptcy.

Anonymous Ukraine releases Klitschko e-mails showing treason
http://voiceofrussia.com/news/2014_02_23/Anonymous-Ukraine-releases-Klitschko-e-mails-showing-treason-3581/
“Anonymous Ukraine is battling the forces in Ukraine that are funded and directed from the West and attempting to overthrow the democratically elected government of the sovereign country of Ukraine. Anonymous Ukraine is operating in what can only now be described as a war zone and the security measures they are forced to take are extreme. A member of Anonymous Ukraine who wishes to remain anonymous spoke to the Voice of Russia about the operations and the recent release of e-mails between Vitaly Klischko and the Lithuanian Presidential advisor. The e-mails show that Klitschko was intentionally planning to destabilize the country, is being instructed and funded from abroad and has his accounts in Germany. This is clear evidence of treason. The member of Anonymous does not speak for the entire Anonymous movement but comments as a member of Anonymous Ukraine. As Anonymous has no leaders and the situation is fluid operations may change at any point when consensus is reached….”

“President Yanukovich met with ex-PM Yulia Tymoshenko in Kharkov before she was released, Russian MP Aleksey Mitrofanov told Interfax, citing “reliable” sources inside Yanukovich’s Party of Regions. He said the two met on Saturday morning.”
Interesting and funny coincidence? I’ll explain. There was a porn film several years ago that parodied Tymoshenko and Saakashvili called Юлия. Mitrofanov helped write the script. :)
It’s interesting that Mitrofanov has an interest in what’s going on in the Ukraine. He’s one of the more level headed MPs in the Russian Duma. Pushkov, an MP who is an outspoken critic of western criminality, went to Kharkov friday.

A video showing Israel’s nazis getting a taste of their own medicine in Crimea:
В Крыму избили «бандеровцев» 22.02.2014
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXDEDGgD2Oc
While бандеровцев transliterates to banderovcev, google translates it as Banderivtsy. I’m wondering if this is a term just thought up by the video poster or if it is now in common usage to describe the fascist insurgency in the west? A little after the 5 minute mark into the video, almost at the end, there is a little symbolic act that shows at least some of the people in the Ukraine are aware the insurgents have that distinct American stench that signals covert regime change op.
