…Under the circumstances, the almost unquestioned acceptance of the referendum’s result is bizarre. Why continue down this path? Why alienate already angry voters on both sides? Remain supporters are already furious, and the Leave voters are in for bad news. They face some combination of economic decline and the betrayal of their wish to hide in a fantasy pre-globalisation world.
The best explanation for this peculiar behaviour is not the one Prime Minister David Cameron offered, respect for democracy. It comes from another British tradition – games. We won, you lost. Chin up, take it like a grownup. Shake hands and move on.
Everything is wrong with this approach. The decision to leave or stay in the European Union is not a sporting match with a winner, a loser, clear rules, a referee and a replay next year. This question is complex. It should be answered only by people who are able to make informed and rational judgments. To give the people the opportunity to override the legislature is an insult to the principle of representative democracy.

We lost representative democracy in Britain decades ago! ‘you must have been asleep’. My Conservative MP, whom I am in contact by email and letter on average about 4 times a month for the last 4 years, has supposedly been representing myself and the rest of his constituents in parliament for the last 6 years,… when I brought up his attendance and voting record from the House of Commons, including his political actions in the ‘House’… although I have personally asked him numerous times to ask questions of the ‘House’ of behalf of his constituents (this is his job)… it transpired that this ‘minnow’ of a man, in all his time “supposedly” representing his constituents, hasn’t “EVER” asked a single question on behalf of anyone!… not a single one in six years!… my question would be “why the f**k is he there?”. I know I am not the only constituent of his asking this same question as I have had the pleasure of meeting other constituents from my home town who are asking him questions as well. When I confront my MP with this question… he flat out ignores me?…..I am now thinking of the saying that goes something like “No taxation, without representation”… accordingly, I am owed by the taxman 6 years tax returns because I know I haven’t been represented “at all”…. Do you think this argument will fly in my local tax office?, I very much doubt it.
Sputnik News often puts a picture and self-serving statements of the terrorist demons soros, kissinger, etc… I like their humor and often interesting articles but that makes me want to puke. They belong in prison or worse, not splattered all over widespread media.
