Love him or hate him, Erdogan has been a survivor; a hero for some, and a stick in the mud that would not go away for many more others. He has thus far managed to dodge many serious decisive moments, the last of which was the recent parliamentary elections that he won with flying colours despite the predictions of many analysts, including myself, that he was destined to lose abysmally.
Even though the November elections did not give Erdogan the 66% majority that would enable him to change the constitution, after being in power for more than a decade, his initial domestic financial successes, one would imagine, became plagued by his failed regional gambles in Syria, however, the November elections came to give Erdogan a new lifeline that he himself perhaps did not believe he was going to achieve.
With this win, Erdogan felt invincible. For an Islamist, and this is what Erdogan is, feeling invincible takes on a whole new meaning.
This is a simplistic translation of a Quranic verse: “If God is by your side, no one can defeat you” (Quran 3:160).
Erdogan believes he is invincible because he believes that he is on a mission and that God is by his side. If he had any reason to doubt this divine role he believes he has, the November election results put that doubt to rest.
Many people of different religions believe God is on their side and have done this throughout the ages, but in this age of ISIL, it is rather difficult for a non-Muslim to imagine the impact on an Islamist’s mind to believe that he is invincible because God is on his side. It is seen as a license to do as one pleases, a carte blanche, and a mandate to act at will.
After the downing of the Russian Su-24, many conspiracy theories were proposed, and this is not unusual. The big questions that many analysts and observers tried to, and are still trying to resolve, is what made Erdogan do it and who was behind his decision.
There are two main possibilities; Erdogan either acted on his own accord or in conjunction with a second party. The second party can only be the United States. It cannot be NATO because the European side of NATO is currently bogged down in trying to establish where Europe should place its focus and action in the wake of the Paris attacks. And even though the EU seems to have recently rewarded Turkey by granting it funds to curb the influx of refugees and for making more promises regarding the prospect of Turkey joining the EU, France is adamant about fighting ISIL and Hollande’s recent trip to Moscow and subsequent military involvement in the skies of Syria speak volumes.
Even the UK and Germany have joined the fight, not so much under a Russian umbrella, but the European determination to fight ISIL seems to be gaining momentum.
So did the USA whisper in Erdogan’s ear to make him shoot down a Russian jet?
If the answer is yes, then both parties, ie the USA and Turkey, would have something to gain from this action. Many theories have been put forward in an attempt to explain what America would gain, but in reality, they do not hold any ground at all given that such action can evoke a full-on confrontation between America and Russia.
Even the foolhardy George W Bush would not risk an all-out war with Russia. Why would Obama do it now and for what reason?
Obama had, and still has, his chance to intimidate Putin militarily if he wishes to do so in Ukraine. If anything, any such intimidation would be more effective given the location of Ukraine relative to Russia. So why would America choose Turkey to intimidate Russia if this can be better done in Ukraine? No logical answer can be found, because there isn’t one.
Perhaps some early clues emerged in the outcome of the extraordinary NATO meeting that Turkey asked for almost immediately after shooting down the Russian jet.
The NATO meeting defended Turkey’s right to protect its sovereignty. It is not unusual for an organization like NATO to defend one of its members. The subtle messages however have to be read in between the lines.
The meeting reached the conclusion that this matter was up to Turkey and Russia to resolve. Obama made it much clearer when he said that “Turkey and Russia must talk and de-escalate”.
What must be gleaned from this is that NATO, and of course America, are both distancing themselves from Turkey on this count. If Turkey wants to fight Russia, they are implying, Turkey will have to do this alone. The USA’s refusal to accept Russian evidence on the oil smuggling business between ISIL and Turkey is nothing more than cheap talk. This is not to forget that as the USA refutes such evidence, it is at the same time calling Turkey to close its borders with Syria.
What does this say about the big question as to who was behind the decision to shoot down the Su-24?
There is little doubt that the decision was Turkish and only Turkish.
The self-proclaimed invincible Erdogan has taken yet another huge gamble, believing that God is by his side and that he will defeat the “infidels”.
When Turkey became a NATO member, the world was different, the power structure was different, the ideologies were different, and it is truly a comedy of errors that in the time of global war against Islamic terrorism, Turkey continues to be a NATO member when it is one of the biggest supporters of Islamism. But the West is yet to wake up.
NATO cannot abandon Turkey all out, and there is no reason for it to do so either. That said, there must be some growing European unrest, especially in France, as to how to deal with a NATO member that is clearly supporting ISIL.
Whatever the intricate details within NATO may be and what goes on behind the scenes, Russia knows well that Erdogan stands alone in his offensive. NATO will not support him.
The onus is now on Russia to decide how to deal with the aftermath of the downing of the Su-24. Contrary to the rhetoric of many cynics who see that President Putin has been cornered, in reality, he has many options and he is in the rightful and privileged position to be the one who can make the choice.
One must admit that nearly two weeks after the downing of the Su-24, the mosaic of forces that have come into play is making the situation volatile and requires a lot of wisdom on the part of Russia for it to be contained and prevented from causing a serious escalation.
That said, there is no doubt that Russia holds the key and has the military presence that is most dominant. Russia can respond in many different ways according to her own choosing. In between the extreme options of taking it on the chin and nuking Ankara, and/or having a full-on confrontation with NATO forces in Syria and beyond, Russia has a myriad of choices; all of which can downsize Erdogan putting him in the corner in which he belongs.
It would be shortsighted to even think that the quick punitive measures that Russia took against Turkey are going to be sufficient. Discouraging Russian tourists of visiting Turkey and canceling military cooperation, and even suspending the TurkStream project and other similar measures, hardly constitute what one would put in the basket of a befitting punitive measure given what Turkey has done. It is not about tomato trade as Putin has clearly put it recently.
However, any escalation resulting from a Russian “retaliation” would be unwise, and can lead Russia into a military bog that she does not need.
The deployment of the frigate Moskva with its S-400 arsenal is realistically more of a media stunt and cannot be effective if those highly effective surface-to-air missiles are to be deployed from the Mediterranean against targets in far eastern Syria. After all, even with their enormous 10-Mach plus speed, they become virtually ineffective if used against enemy planes engaged in a dogfight hundreds of kilometers away. Such surface to air missiles will need to be planted alongside the Turkish-Syrian borders. In the meantime, Russian air-to-air missiles will do the job.
Even though individual NATO countries have made presence for themselves in Syria, and even though America is sending troops to Kurdish-controlled Northern Syria, Russia continues to deal with them as partners in the war against ISIL; albeit without a central command that unites them. In reality however, with its surface-to-air, sea-to-air and air-to-air defenses, Russia controls who can and who cannot fly in the skies of Syria.
Moscow and Damascus should therefore “use” those forces for as long as they are bombing ISIS and avoid any confrontation with them at all cost. All the while, Moscow and Damascus should continue with their resolve to free up the Idlib-Aleppo region, which is conveniently close to the Mediterranean and the defense systems bases already on the ground, with a special attention and focus on moving north towards the Turkish borders. This move must be done whilst sticking to two major rules; 1) providing air defense to fighter bombers using interceptor jets which will be ready to shoot down anything that looks least suspicious, and 2) trying hard to avoid any deliberate confrontation not only with NATO, but also with Turkey.
The more Turkish loyal forces currently located in Syria get pushed away north towards Turkey, the more Erdogan is going to feel most intimidated and hurt. Later on, the more the get pushed east, it will hurt Turkey even more.
As Syrian troops supported by Russian air power liberate the Aleppo region, S-400 batteries will need to be deployed in those newly-liberated regions, on the ground, and the push to take land back from the terrorists should move east with more and more S-400 batteries deployed to eventually cover the 1000 Km border line between Syrian and Turkey. There is no better humiliation for Turkey than doing just this, without creating any reason for a major escalation.
Russia must also remain steadfast in her support to her key reliable partner in the war; the Syrian Army.
The world is changing, and Europe is definitely the best place to witness this change. Had Erdogan decided to shoot down a Russian jet prior to the Paris attacks, he might have got some sympathy from his EU partners in NATO, but a lot has changed ever since the Black Friday of Paris, and the European focus is now on fighting terrorism and curbing the influx of refugees with the full knowledge that they will be infiltrated by Islamist terrorists.
If Europe has not woken up to the fact that Turkey is and has been supporting ISIL despite all the evidence, it must surely and finally realized that Turkey is and has been the gate keeper of the so-called Syrian migrants who have been infiltrated by Islamist terrorists. The “bribe” money offered to Erdogan to stop refugees is a testimony of this realization. Unless they are all absolute morons, someone in Europe must at least be beginning to realize that Turkey is not a strategic NATO partner, but rather an Islamist Trojan Horse.
Again, there is little doubt that Erdogan has acted alone. In his action, he is putting much at stake, including a confrontation with Russia at a time that Europe, especially France, is trying to be Russia’s partner in the war against terror, and at a time in which NATO would go out of its way to avoid a direct confrontation with Russia.
Any speculation that Erdogan was pushed by his senior partners is most unlikely.
Back to how Erdogan regards himself as “the” protector of Islam and the “one” whose support comes directly from up above.
As an Islamist first and foremost and a Turkish nationalist second, Erdogan sees himself as the custodian of Islam and Muslims. He is not against ISIL in its ideology and doctrine. He is only sometimes against it when its decisions do not match his own or do not come from his command room.
He has thus far survived tumultuous events domestically, regionally, and internationally.
He managed to fool the Saudis and Qataris and used their funds to establish his own dreams. He now even wants to build a military base in Qatar. He smiles to the Israelis and plays the partner game with them. He has capitalized on the NATO status of Turkey, a status it achieved when Islamist terrorism did not exist and when Turkey was a very secular country. He smiles to the Iranians and even struck huge business deals with Russia. Many find him hard to understand, because they do not really look at his Islamist agenda.
Despite many policy failures, he is still standing. A survivor he may well be, but Erdogan will eventually fall on his sword.
In downing the Su-24, it is highly likely that he has finally bitten much more than he can chew. This is potentially the mistake of his life that will bring him tumbling down.
Give any megalomaniac enough rope, and he will hang himself. Erdogan is no exception.
My question is, no matter what the western public want or what the poiliticans say they will do, will those Brit, French and any other NATO planes actually be targeting ISIL or will they be targeting Assad forces and those friendly to Assad?
We already know the answer for any US and Turkish planes .
Your question has already been answered.
The Turks have invaded Syria (see South Front Dec 5th): “The Turkish army reportedly invaded the Syrian territory and took control of the hill Tal Ziyab. Troops crossed the border accompanied by bulldozers to build fortifications. Also, 3 battle tanks, 2 armored infantry fighting vehicles and several SUVs were deployed there.”
The US is setting up a base there: “The US is reportedly establishing an airbase in northeastern Syria.”
Also Iraq (see South Front Dec): BAGHDAD ISSUES ULTIMATUM AFTER TURKISH ARMY MOVES INTO IRAQ UNINVITED, (just outside of Mosul).
and yesterday a Syrian army base was bombed by coalition aircraft (they deny it) killing 3 and it was then attacked by ISIS.
Well, apparently there’s another one too, this one in Iraq:
Turkey Covertly Constructing Airbase in Northern Iraq

Your answer covers my last sentence but doesn’t really address the French, Brits Germans and other assorted vassals.
Now was the first time a bomb hit the Syrian Army, at least officially, and according to the statements that attack was a sloppy one, so it might actually be an accident. Not much damage was done either.
As for the US, considering how long they have been bombing Syria, that they said they are running out of bombs, the reports from the Russian side of abandoned villages bombed to the ground, and that we have never heared much outcry of the US directly bombing the Syrian Army (or has anyone except the one now?) i think they just bomb the dessert….i´m not kidding.
War is money. And the military complex in the US is THE industry, nothing compares to it. What better way to pump in millions a day by dropping outdated bombs over nothing and where nobody can really complain? Sure they bomb civilian structures too under the pretext of attacking ISIL, but they have to pretend don´t they? I mean this war is like christmas for the US military complex and their contractors, why should they want it to end.
It´s even the same in Ukraine. The pledge many many millions of dollars and send them the last garbage they have laying around. So much crap even the Uki army is complaining about that crap. As if they would ever send them whats worth that money ha.
Yes,if you look at the US budgets. It appears close to half the budgets are related to the military and repressive services. Especially as some items are “covered” by other titles. The slur that the US is a military, masquerading as a country, isn’t far from the truth at all.
I agree, Erdogan is both drastic and somewhat unpredictable (although through the lens of an egomaniac Islamist, a lot of his actions make sense).
I would argue Erdogan’s actions were in fact influenced by the US: Putin has publicly criticized the US for sharing flight path data with the Turks; Turkey would never stomach risking war without warning the US or potentially find itself completely isolated; all the US responses have been properly “gamed” – e.g., immediate calls for de-esculation, Russian support for Kurds, and advancement of Western planes to the theatre; and finally, there appears to be a lot of interest both drawing Russia further into Syria in terms stretching the Russian military and perhaps setting up the government for failure if a full Western intervention comes to fruition.
But I think the single greatest reason was tactical: the Russians have deployed a sophisticated electronic warfare platform to Syria and so far used it twice. It’s successfully jammed everything in a “600km bubble”, apparently radars to satellites, and effectively creates a no-fly zone above Syria if so desired. Therefore, poking the Russians to potentially increase their posture and use the system again provides opportunity to learn more about the system, it characteristics, and therefore how to beat it.

I don’t think the Russians buy that line of reasoning for a minute. They aren’t going to build an Electronic Warfare/Countermeasures system that is so vulnerable that they have to be too afraid to use it – that is, that the Americans only need it one for short periods “to figure it out” and they are going to stage events just to suss this system out. Not buying this scenario for one minute. The Russians likely will have a gamut of systems, measures, different physics mechanisms and algorithms that they will use to cryptically and unpredictably – sparing the most advanced systems for a strategic global conflict (keeping that in Russia and not using such a system in Syria) and using lower value systems for this regional conflict.
Also, I don’t buy the internet rumor that the Russians blotted out all comm and radar for 600km, where’s the proof? If they could do that, they could accidentally knock out the flight control systems of American inherently-unstable-aerodynamics aircraft that require constant computer controlled air-panel corrections (planes like the F-16) or even their own aircraft of this type (Su-30SM). These so-called fly-by wire system use waveguides (i.e. the bus-leads are simple waveguides) and not just differential voltage signaling for signaling control-planes of the aircraft – a EW system that’s capable of wide spectrum and high power suppression would disrupt these internal EMF signals too.
You’re assuming this situation isn’t worth it for Russia to “cryptically” employ special equipment to gain an operational advantage over its opponents – in this case, both NATO and the U.S.
This would certaintly imply a lot is at stake for Russia.

From the article [unfortunately] here:

yeah, right. No doubt the pindo awaks aircraft providing the turkeys with the necessary real time location and targeting info and the zio-gay western msm having their “message” on cue was just one of those coincidences…
Pathetic.
Speaking of airspace violations here is apparently an airspace and landspace violation by Turkey.
I am unsure how you ‘covertly’ build a 10,000 foot runway and massive building with control tower…

I can’t follow the logic here.
I would have thought Ukraine would be just about the last place Obama could hope to intimidate Russia militarily given it’s proximity to Russia.
Very well stated. That point in the article made no sense.
I think he means by causing constant trouble for Russia in Ukraine. Not that Ukraine could hope to win a conflict there. But the constant stress on Russia by Ukrainian actions are a problem (Crimea’s electric problems being just one example). So what he was saying was it is much easier to order more trouble for Russia in Ukraine. Than to risk a shooting war between Russia and Turkey over Syria. They may want to do that in the end. But right now seems too soon for them. I don’t doubt the US gave Turkey the plane’s location information. But that may be just standard policy. To inform a regional NATO ally of something like that. And the Turks using it for their own purposes, makes sense. That could explain the US’s reactions to all this. They know what Turkey did. And they know Turkey got the info from them. But don’t want to broadcast that to the World.
Elsewhere, I’ve seen it suggested that the US deviously gave Turkey the green light in order to sabotage Russo-Turk relations and scuttle the Turkish Stream pipeline.
The rumor on the internet before the attack was that Putin would have told the turkish ambassador that if Erdogan did not smarten up, he would make syria into leningrad for him. I guess the shooting of the russian plane is the response Erdogan is giving Putin. Although to be fair, shooting those oil trucks in the desert cannot be that difficult for russia and it will surely annoy Erdogan tremendously as well.
There remains the possibility to establish a Kurdistan inside syria to remove the Kurds from inside Turkey. That might be the sort of ethnic cleansing Daesh can perform for the west. This I am hearing from Thierry Meyssan on voltaire.net . Maybe Israel and Turkey can still salvage something from this situation. I guess they still have a lot of work to do.
Condoleezza Rice did tell us about the birth pangs of a new middle east when Isreal leveled out lebanon. It is not easy giving birth.
Hi Ghassan ! Good to see you here again…this is a quote from your article
“This is a simplistic translation of a Quranic verse: “If God is by your side, no one can defeat you” (Quran 3:160).
Erdogan believes he is invincible because he believes that he is on a mission and that God is by his side. If he had any reason to doubt this divine role he believes he has, the November election results put that doubt to rest.”
Well, my first response is…which God ? Satan calls himself a god too…
But aside from that religious terminology question, this is a super great article….it certainly has the ring of truth to my ears….
Its going to be interesting to see how Ergodan’s fall on his own sword comes to pass..I personally, can’t wait…he is such a snake.
What do you think of the latest development ? The US attacks SAA >? I guess most of the population of the US won’t even hear about it.
I was talking to a dear friend in the US today…we’re dear friends ‘in spite’ of our different political views….its so sad…she is such a dignified and beautiful soul…and she is subconsciously inundated with MSM…you know, the complete mistrust of Russia and ME…its so sad because she is actually on our side….but doesn’t ‘get it’.
It sounds as though Erdogan is writing his own personal “rules of engagement.”
NATO rules (not in war) are: radio warnings, scramble jets, make visual contact in case intruder’s communications are out, signal intruder to alter course, force intruder to alter course, force intruder to land.
Clearly this is not what was done. Scrambling jets would take 46 minutes to interception according to one analysis I’ve seen, which is why VV calls it an ambush. And the surviving navigator, in a video interview, says that they never even knew the Turkish jet was there, explaining that the comparative speeds of a bomber and a fighter jet would make it a stroll in the park for the fighter to come up and park off his wingtip. (You’ve got to see this interview if you haven’t! What a witness! He’s so perfect it’s hard to believe he’s not from central casting. Plus, he was Top Navigator at the Russian air games last year. We need a young John Wayne to play him in the movie. Tom Cruise need not apply.)
Now . . . if Erdogan is playing by his own rules, did he ever happen to tell anyone? Yes, as a matter of fact he did. After Syria shot down a Turkish F-4 reconnaissance plane in June 2012, Erdogan proclaimed his borders to extend five miles into Syria for purposes of air defense.
Without considering this factor, the press coverage I’ve seen is all missing the point.
I cannot find enough coverage of this, in spite of Wiki having two entries, plus press coverage, to say what NATO et al. may have commented about this. Failure to object would not, however, amount to agreement.
The June, 2012 incident was a more righteous shoot — although the question of imminent danger and justifiable self-defense is still debatable. The Turkish plane spent five minutes swanning around in Syrian air space, left for a brief swing over the Mediterranean, then returned and was shot down in Syrian territorial waters. Solid evidence.
Dear Quassan. You miss the point big time on Obama, as well as who created the Muslim Brotherhood in the 1920’s in reaction to Mustapha Kamel and the possible negative consequences to the British empire of the rise of secular nationalism in muslim nations. Yes. The Briitish! Who created the Saudis? The British. Who created the Zionists? The British. Who owns Obama? Not anyone American. Yes, the British! I believe Putin understands this, even though you don’t. Obama is coordinating with Erdogan, even if over the head of his own military establishment. Not just Erdogan, rather it is Obama, the messeanic narcissist, who will take it to nuclear war, unless he gets removed by his
Vice President and the cabinet under the 25th Amendment. Obama is the bigger Trojan Horse for the British Monarchy’s new satanic dark ages.
I see people post things like that constantly. But it’s a bad reading of history. Certainly the British have done many horrible things. And they (like the US) are some of history’s biggest opportunists. But the groups and movements you mentioned weren’t “created” by the British. They existed before and the British aided them. Which makes the British leaders vile and opportunistic but not far-sighted enough to create those groups. Why do we need to think our enemies are smarter than they are, they aren’t. They are just good at taking advantage of what’s available and then helping it to be worse.
Brits are totally opportunistic. They pulled the strings to finance the Meiji Restoration in Japan in the late 19th century and then used the Japanese military as their proxy in east asia. Damn they are good at that stuff! Better than the Romans. They plan all this diabolia behind closed doors like real gentlemen drinking sherry and eating crumpets and then hide behind their hired goons to do their dirty work. Erdogan could use a lesson in their manners and graces. Tea!
re: “Many theories have been put forward in an attempt to explain what America would gain, but in reality, they do not hold any ground at all given that such action can evoke a full-on confrontation between America and Russia.”
Similarly, the US has nothing to gain by what has been happening in the Ukraine.
Unless you think US policy is to set fires all around the borders of Russia and destroy her important economic relations as well.
It does not seem credible that Turkey would or could take such a drastic action without at least a nod and a wink from the US.
What of the Turkish army? Are they happy with this act? Were they willing and enthusiastic players or only reluctantly following orders?
It is difficult to see what Turkey gains or hopes to gain from this. This is very unlikely to be a spur of the moment action but part of a longer plan.

Many thanks for the link to Marine Le Pen’s important speech.
It should be heard by all.
Her “National Front” may or may not be the perfect direction for the French People, but it is voicing much truth that needs to be heard, – because the Official imperialist medias are giving only the Zionist-American orchestrated Lies to the people.
Marine Le Pen warms my fool heart, kinda like Georgie Bush did right after 9/11.

Religious nuttery will kill us all. Big nukes will trump the imaginary man in the sky everytime.
I think you are pretty much spot on. It reflects a lot of what i have thought about this situation and what has been presented. It´s important to read between the lines and listen carefully what they say.
Or as the saying goes:
“Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.”
And don´t underestimate the stupidity and arrogance of leaders. In fact, i think you have to have a god complex if you want to be in such a position and rule over millions.
And yet there’s plenty of malice in the world. I don’t trust that saying; it is generally deployed to lull people into quiescence. No, the rich aren’t running a class war, those are just stupid policies that all happen to skewer the ordinary guy and enrich the already wealthy. No, the American government isn’t trying to destroy all countries with independent policies . . . all those invasions and bombings were just blunders, clumsy well-intentioned errors that all just happen to trash such countries. Et cetera.
Bull.
I wonder if Syria can find evidence of whose missiles did the dirty…has Rus any satellite/radar evidence? Auslander said a while ago that most of the Black Sea fleet was in the Med….can he check what is left in Sevastopol? Was it a real photo or fake of a Rus sailor holding a “weapon” at Turkey on the back of a ship passing through the Bosphorous or not?
Was it a military or cargo ship-one presumes the former, if proven?
So apart from if Bosphorous is closed there will be no direct sea route to supply Syria, any Rus ships will either be locked in , or out of the Black Sea, hence USA laughing at uselessness of Sevastopol, its reduced effectiveness as revenge for loss of Crimea. Presumably if they can in any way implicate cargo ships in any way they will try to have a total ban on Rus shipping.
Just got a feeling we have only seen the warming up so far, not the hot action, getting nervous about reading the news even, what is to happen next?
MOSCOW, December 8 /TASS/. Russia’s large landing ship Tsesar Kunikov (BDK-64) where Turkey allegedly noticed a sailor on the deck who was holding a man-portable air defense system on his shoulder had not breached a single article of the Montreux Convention Regarding the Regime of the Straits, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Tuesday.
“On December 4, the Turkish side noticed a sailor holding a man-portable air defense system on his shoulder on the deck of the Russian warship Tsesar Kunikov, which was sailing southward through the Bosporus. For some unknown reason, Ankara interpreted the incident as ‘provocative and posing a threat’,” a report said.
“The Turkish Foreign Ministry expressed the Turkish side’s concern to the Russian ambassador to Turkey. According to Turkish diplomats, the incident allegedly aroused indignation in the local (Turkish) media,” Zakharova went on to say.

“I would like to emphasize that the Russian ship did not violate a single article of the 1936 Montreux Convention, which regulates navigation in straits or any provisions of respective Turkish instructions. Any crew has a legitimate right to guard and protect its ship,” the Russian diplomat said.
“When our diplomats asked the Turkish side what exactly it considered to be a violation they did not hear any coherent answer except for abstract references to some kind of ‘context and philosophy’ of international legal norms,” Zakharova explained.”

“MOSCOW, December 8. /TASS/. The actions of the Turkish authorities that detained a crew of the Rossiya 1 TV channel and decided to deport the journalists from the country are inadmissible, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.
“On December 7, members of the crew of the Special Correspondent program of the Rossiya 1 TV channel were detained in Hatay province in southeastern Turkey bordering Syria as they were going to the neighboring province of Gaziantep,” the ministry said. “The detention was carried out by unknown persons wearing civilian clothes who, in reply to the journalists’ legitimate request, refused to introduce themselves and let them see their IDs.” The Turkish authorities refused to give explanations to representatives of the Russian Embassy in Turkey who got in touch with the crew shortly after its detention,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
“We strongly condemn the illegal actions of the Turkish authorities,” the ministry said. “Such attitude towards the media is absolutely unacceptable.”
The ministry also said it was curious as to what “rules” had been violated by the Russian journalists. “One gets the impression that Ankara is scared that correspondents of the Rossiya 1 TV channel may throw spotlight on facts about the illegal activities carried out in the Turkish-Syrian border area the Turkish government would prefer to keep in the shadow,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.”
yup, what happened to press freedom , as you wish to be part of the EU—T must be following Poland and Ukraine ‘s finest examples………………
Having now read the above, I can’t agree with the statement “Russia has full control of the skies in Syria”….not after attack on Syrian forces. Sadly I feel they are virtually impotent against western coalition, all they can do is “threaten” by just being there, record, publish, verify whatever takes place…
“The so-called antiigilovskaya US coalition in which 65 countries krysyatnichaet in Syria for over a year, under the guise of the war on terrorism LIH. Approximately 90% of departures commit the United States. In October vultures US destroyed the power transformer in the province of Aleppo, causing the Syrian republic damages of one billion euros, with no military value of this operation had, destroyed irrigation channels, food stores, and set fire to several oil wells that burn so far.”

Russia can only have full control at the risk of open warfare between Rus and western coalition, declared by either of these parties, waiting who will do it first-I can’t imagine Rus doing that-any kind of action by Rus would be construed and declared as being against the UN resolution: all attempts to be made to deal with Daesh. The USA would turn it around to blame Rus for preventing any of the coalitions from being effective.
If Rus just supplies the defensive systems but leaves the absolute control in Syrian military control that might be better, but Rus would still be blamed if any effective defence is made against western coalition forces , unless of course Syria notifies the world at UN that all western forces must leave Syria-again that is in “contravention” or against the UN resolution. Rus would be blamed as supporting that undermining move as that is how it would be seen eg by Samantha Powers surely.
Whether Iraq can unify with Iran to jointly, in partnership with Syria, and can establish a western free zone could be the only solution, in the continuation of western attacks on SAA, and Turkish incursions into Iraq etc.
Russia will be still be called to account by NATO, USA etc ,for the re-establishment(so called) of its sphere of influence.
Can the do so, tell the west to get the hell out? i have no idea if Iraq is a sovereign government, what contracts, legal agreements are signed with USA etc that can be either ignored, or declared redundant, and can the Arab League be more effective with them, against Turkey?
Should there be a big divide?Get the west out of the middle east,
Russia just say we’re gonna do our thing?
re Arab League
“The Iraqi government cannot rely on the Arab League states in the issue of the withdrawal of Turkish forces from the country, as the bloc is virtually unable to take real action, an Iraqi senior lawmaker said on Tuesday.

Iraq May Take Economic Measures Against Turkey if Troops Not Withdrawn
BAGHDAD (Sputnik) – On December 4, Turkey deployed up to 150 military personnel to northern Iraq’s Nineveh province, without Baghdad’s approval, allegedly to provide training to Kurdish militia who are fighting extremists. Arab League Secretary General Nabil Elaraby on Sunday condemned what he called Turkey’s blatant invasion of Iraq, noting that only the UN Security Council could facilitate the withdrawal of the Turkish troops.
“The Iraqi government should not rely on the statement by the Arab League, but rely on Baghdad’s own strength,” Khalid Asadi, a member of the International Relations Committee of the Iraqi Parliament, said in a statement obtained by Sputnik.
The condemnation by the Arab League was expected, but given that the system of pan-Arab defense was destroyed a few decades ago, “the Arab League’s statement about it is just a facade,” the lawmaker added.”

Erdo’s one of those bullying thugs, crosses into Syria around the same area they shot down the Russian SU24 jet. He might have something to do with the bombing of the Syrian army base yesterday.. Only Turkey or the UK had the chance.. US always plays like they have no idea what is going on. Big pucking rock can be falling on the earth and they would do the 3 monkeys yelling some gliberish…

The author does not seem to consider that there may be various factions in the US deep state with differing ideas about what should transpire in US policy. I think the US certainly was behind the shoot-down, however, it is not a given that Obama gave the order. Is it that inconceivable that the various parts of the US military, including the operations at Langley that are funded by the trillion dollar heroin industry it oversees in Afghanistan, may not be under complete control of the White House?
Exactly. There is no way Obama is behind this. Just like Kennedy was not behind the Jupiter missiles in Turkey. Kennedy was furious too when he found out what had transpired behind his back. Which is why JFK created his own private spy network and his own direct line of communication with the Kremlin; he wanted to leave “somebody” out of the loop.
There are strong “rumors” that just before he was murdered Kennedy was working on several projects. One, he wanted to withdraw US involvement in the Vietnam War. Instead of getting deeper into it,as we were headed towards. Second,he wanted to come to a understanding with the USSR. To finally bring stability and a real detente in relations between the superpowers. And three,he wanted to calm down the situation with Cuba, and reestablish relations with them. Just before his murder he had asked a person he knew that was visiting Castro to deliver a personal message to Castro discussing that idea. All of those plans died with him.And the rest is history.
I’ve never known quite what to make of those rumours. On one hand, JFK was a smart man. On the other, he was certainly a pretty hawkish technocrat when he first came into power, not very much like what some rose-coloured glasses would paint him. He would have had to have a pretty significant change of heart to have decided all those things.
But there is some indication that the Cuban missile crisis could have caused a major re-evaluation–that it opened his eyes both to the dangers of superpower confrontation and to the basic craziness of the mindset of many of his own generals etc., such that he couldn’t trust their recommendations or even the information he got from them.
So maybe.
The assumption that the US “speaks” with one united and logical coordinated “voice” flies in the face of US history. Factions exist which, in the history of the Cold War, for example, often generated “facts” (crimes) that then forced the several regimes to act not in accord with executive Policy. Thus some may be unpersuaded that President E acted without US support. Furthermore the logistics of the shoot-down required, we are assured, coordination with AWAC aircraft under NATO and US control – coordination over several days…
That said, one recalls Napoleon and his dictum about bayonets…President E is amassing an “army” he won’t be about to sit on…. That, and the Russian resolve, guarantee his departure.
An interesting few comments regarding Erdogan. He isnt even Turkish. He is Georgian. Saakisvilli and Erdogan.

That is an extremely interesting article. I always find it important to trace the ethnic origins of people involved in foreign affairs. To see if there is a “reason” for the stands they take beyond what they purport to be the reasons. You’d be amazed what is sometimes found. But the other side to that is, you must be “sure” of the information you find. It must be common knowledge, or easy to prove if right or not. Sometimes people that hate those persons concerned, will fake claims about them that turn out to be false.Having said that, the one you mention does appear true. And wouldn’t be surprising at all. Turkey and Hungary are two countries that had small ruling elites that conquered those lands centuries ago. They assimilated the native peoples to their culture and language (in Turkey’s case also their religion). So that today the people in Turkey consider themselves Turks. While their DNA only has a small “Turkic” component. The vast majority are assimilated native Anatolians, and foreign Muslim immigrants from the Balkans,Russia,Central Asia, and other MENA states.I think the last figures I saw were that those with Turkic descent were less than 15% in the nation.

The Ministry of Defence of Qatar has expressed its willingness to buy Ukraine large batch of Soviet high-explosive bombs at triple the price, said the organization “CyberBerkut.”
…
Hackers have published the correspondence of the Ukrainian company “Spetstehnoeksport” with the Polish firm Level 11. The representative of the Ukrainian exporter Anton Pashinsky asked Poles to arrange delivery to the Middle East two thousand bombs OFAB-250-270. “The question is urgent, they are willing to pay 2100 USD each,” – says Pashinsky. Market price OFAB-250-270 – $ 700.
Curiously, the Air Forces of Qatar are French Mirage fighter jets and light attack aircraft Alpha Jet, are not suitable for use Soviet-style ammunition.
“High-explosive bomb is not necessary to throw off the plane – it can undermine and on the ground, if there is such a need. So, we can not exclude the possibility that these weapons can be an amazing way to be in Syria and to explode at some busy place order to then accuse Russia of bombing the civilian population “- believe in” CyberBerkut. ”
Qatar is actively cooperating with the US in the military sphere – its territory is one of the four centers of foreign control of air and space operations. At the same time, according to the media and international experts, national authorities are sponsoring Islamist terrorist organizations: Al Qaeda, Tabiban, Daishev and others – through so-called “Islamic charities”.

extensive detailed report re Syria for 7 Dec
————————————
ISIS in Kherson
This was reported by the former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the Kherson region Alexei Zhuravko. Here is what he wrote in his blog: “In controlled Crimean Tatar extremists of the Kherson region from Turkey boss came from IG terrorists and militants groups ultrashovinisticheskoy Turkish” Grey Wolves “. These militias arrived in the region at the invitation of Mustafa Dzhemilev, Refat Chubarov and Lenura Islyamova.
I have repeatedly said in their esters that Poroshenko coward that does not affect the situation, and it may happen that the Turks will come to Kherson region, Kherson region … Now really the source of fire … And I would not be surprised if in the Kherson region soon will cut off their heads. I would not be surprised if in the Kherson region is the most serious terrorist attacks. We are in for a very big trouble. And the problem is that people are silent. But people can not remain silent ”
Zhuravko stressed that the leaders of the Crimean Tatar extremists – Lenur, Islyamov and Cemil intend to create on the territory of Kherson region their republic, as it failed in the Crimea.
“In fact, Kherson region robs us of an invader, convinced Zhuravko. – Islyamov wants to make the Kherson region Tatar Autonomous Republic. That this is, in principle, we are going. So, if the “Wolves” will drop in Kherson, and I, as informed and know exactly on what towns and villages already under igilovtsev distribution, it is already more than 700 people … ”
And the weapons they do not even have to take – full of uncontrolled weapons in Ukraine because of the war, which unleashed the Kyiv Donbas.
The fact that in the area of the blockade of the Crimea were “Grey Wolves”, December 7, and said one of the leaders of the blockade, Lenur Islyamov, who in his Facebook Share photos, where the crowd of participants of the blockade visible flags “Grey Wolves” and the Republic of Turkey. “The Turkish patriots from the organization” Grey Wolves “have visited us at the blockade. The blockade is compressed “- wrote Islyamov under the photo.”

Those bombs would make very powerful car bombs, and I bet that’s what they’ll be used for if the deal goes through.
I have to disagree with the above article unfortunately. So, point by point:
1) Turkey is acting outside of NATO. NO! Not at all. NATO clearly wishes to carve Syria into pieces (since their Plan A of regime-changing Assad, has failed) and possibly to create that precious corridor for the Qatari pipeline to go through at some point.
2) NATO also wants Iraq carved up. It will reduce Iranian/Russian/Chinese influence there, and also exert more pressure on the former Iraqi cantons in oil and gas deals. Brezinsky’s vision of micro-states at play here.
3) All of the US/UK/FRA/GER know full well what is going on with ISIS and that it is their cheap and expendable infantry force. They have all been supporting it and utilizing it.
4) Are the European powers even remotely interested in fighting ISIS? Hell no! They in fact would wish to recycle ISIS into some kind of new “moderate” formation that could be better used by them against the Russia-led alliance. ISIS where it suits them (where they can step in) “moderate” rebels when they are fighting Assad, the Iraqis and Russia.
5) One thing that I would somewhat agree with though, is that the US (and NATO in general) would like Turkish power to diminish at some stage.
6) NATO has clearly used Turkey so as to poke the Russian bear. Forget about their hypocritical public statements. They are all part of an elaborate theater.
yup
am very worried about Kerry calling for peace future of Syria conference, just as Saudi is holding a conference with any opposition of any quality to be recognised
what happened to Vienna process-totally hijacked by Kerry now???????
skulduggery really truly abounds.
Yes, if they can’t take out Assad, they will just take Syria out from under him.
Depressing news all around: Turkey advancing /occupying parts of Iraq and now Syria.
Syrian army getting bombed yesterday.
So far no military responses from Iraq, Syria or Russia.
However, thinking back to WWI and WWII, perhaps that’s how USA always win:
they wait for others to duke it out first in both WWI and WWII for a couple of years, before even
stepping in. By that time, those doing the fighting were already kind of “tired out”, all US need to do is to “wade in” and win it.
It’s enuf to make anyone depress….
The death toll from a suspected US-coalition airstrike on a Syrian village could be as high as 34, according to local sources. The US military say they are investigating the allegations.
Trends
Islamic State, Syria unrest
The alleged attack by US-led coalition forces on the Syrian village of Al-Khan was carried out on Monday. Western sources have put the death toll at 26, but Syrian political commentator Alaa Ebrahim said the figure is likely to be even higher.

“The number of casualties are likely to be larger than 27. We have a source in a hospital in Al-Malikiyah suggesting that the number is 30 dead and 17 wounded and the number is likely to rise as there are many people who would not be taken to hospital for fear of being arrested by the Kurdish or Syrian government,” Ebrahim said.
A Syrian Army source, who asked not to be named, confirmed to RT that the area was struck. The source said no Syrian Army forces were in the area. Local sources say that 34 civilians, including women and children were killed, with a further 17 people receiving injuries.
Colonel Steve Warren told AFP that the US is investigating claims that its coalition warplanes were responsible for the dozens of civilian deaths.
“Every time we get information about the possibility of a civilian casualty incident, we always do a credibility assessment on that information,” Colonel Steve Warren told AFP.
“If the information is found to be credible, we’ll conduct an investigation, and we’ll release the results of that investigation.”
However, Warren was unable to comment whether US-led coalition planes were active on Monday in the area around the village of Al-Khan, where the deadly strikes took place, due to what he said was “a lack of information.”
Ebrahim believes if the US-led coalition is responsible, this would prove to be a boost for Syrian President Bashar Assad’s claims that all forces against IS must unite with Damascus in order to work effectively.
“The Syrian government will try to use this incident as further proof that the US should coordinate with it in order to achieve a more active approach to eliminating ISIL from Syria and Iraq,” Ebrahim told RT.

The act, which killed three Syrian Army soldiers was seen by Damascus as an “act of aggression.” On top of the fatalities, 13 personnel were injured and a number of military vehicles were destroyed when warplanes fired nine missiles at the Saeqa military camp.”

Analysis from Ft Russ article translated from Russian
http://fortruss.blogspot.com/2015/12/what-is-us-cooking-up-for-turkey-iraq.html
And I quote from a very big guest editorial /interview in the week end edition of the WSJ with one of the Karzani offspring:
” The Kurds think it’s up to the central government in Baghdad and the coalition to take the lead on Mosul. (Now in quotes) ‘The job calls for a liberating force not a force that can create sensitivities in that community, Mr. Barzani says. ”
OK so no central government forces will be able to do it ( Shi ites all) so who arrives on scene this week end but the Turks who then proceed to dig in around, yep, Mosul. The two dynastic families ( Barzani/Erdogan) are chuckling all the way to the bank.
The week end edition of the WSJ never fails to disappoint. One has to know double think—note the two contradictory statements put back to back. The conclusion of the article discusses the dismemberment of Iraq.
I’m wondering why Iraq,Iran, and Syria.Or at least Iraq and Syria, don’t meet and sign a treaty of alliance with each other. In the treaty, fully recognize the “territorial integrity” of their borders. That “legally” and militarily, would make it much more difficult for NATO to impose its will in the region. And for Turkey to continue its aggression in both states.
I don’t understand this paper. Erdogan is a crook. With his family they have stolen millions. A crook cannot be a man of God. He is just a thieve and a murderer. He has been using the muslim brothers to reach power but I do not trust his faith no more than the pope’s faith. Also contrary to what is being said, it is easier and safer to attack Russia in Syria than in Ukraine for Syria is too far away fron Russia and there Russia cannot afford a direct confrontation with Nato.
I agree that so far Russia’s answer can be seen as a weakness but Putin would have to be totally mad to start a war. Patience is not a sign of weakness but of wisdom. Eventually time will provide him with a way to avoid this trap but if not, he will terminate the war which will destroy most of the humanity.
Yet as I cannot see Russia packing back home letting the Syrian people alone, we are heading towards a collision course.
The murder of Syrian soldiers in Deir Ezzor following those of a Russian pilot and a Russian marine demonstrate that the US led coalition is not actually fighting Daesh but in reality the Syrian people, their army and their president Bachar el-Assad.
Turkey, Qatar and KSA have gone too far in supporting the terrorists in Syria and in Irak to step back. Of course these countries have been manipulated by the Empire of chaos managed by Washington on behalf of the Zionists.
The later are afraid that if Syria with the help of Russia, Iran and the Hezbollah were able to win that war, Israel’s future could be compromised. Therefore the Empire is ready for anything including WW3 to destroy the resistance’s axis.
The author doesn’t say Erdogan “is” a man of God. Just that he thinks God is on his side. Many of the most evil and perverted leaders in history considered themselves as “doing God’s will”. Erdogan is just another of those hyena’s.
Lee Harvey Oswald and Syed Farook/Tashfeen Malik
This may be somewhat off-topic, but terrorism and dirty tricks are internationally manipulated phenomena, especially endemic to U.S.-NATO imperialism.
Parallels between official stories of JFK assassination and San Bernardino massacre: Things have not changed much. In fact, there has not been much change since the perhaps mythical hanging of reformer Jesus of Bethlehem, through the birth of the USA by genocidal land theft and its subsequent rise through slavery, and its global development as the central imperialist power (now at least arguably in decline).
Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, the Couple accused in Bernardino, like patsy Lee Harvey Oswald, were zeroed in on hours after the attack and miles away in a different town, seemingly unaware of being hunted or why.
Oswald was (reportedly) killed the next day, in the main Dallas Police station, by Police buff and buddy Jack Rubenstein, who in turn quickly died in prison, as he pleaded to be taken to Washington, DC, where he told Hearst reporter Dorothy Kilgallen he wanted to get out the real truth about the presidential assassination. Kilgallen died shortly thereafter, too. The CIA killer elite and the U.S. political establishment must have heaved a sigh of relief, beginning with Oswald’s being shot to death. He would not have to stand trial, where in it might have been difficult to convict the innocent accused, and where the coverup and all the official complicity in it may have unraveled, leaving the real assassination commanders representing a consensus of the top rulers, above the elected officialdom, to be exposed (they are at large to this day, and doing their things more than ever).
The accused San Bernardino “terror couple” was killed, with police taking “credit”, far away from all independent witnesses, as their car was shot through with reportedly almost 400 deadly rounds, Bonnie-and-Clyde style. Police and the official media, and most other, even opposition media, are parroting about a “shoot-out”, in which they claim that the alleged mass killers of Farook’s innocent coworkers then opened fire on the convoy of military vehicles pursuing them, at a speed varying between 25 and 40 mph, and/or surrounding them. They will not be able to challenge whatever may now be declared through the media. Dead men and women tell no tails.
In the JFK assassination, Oswald was arrested miles away from the assassination scene, and hours later, and was then also accused of shooting a Police Officer, JD Tippet, with no apparent motive, before taking refuge in a movie theater, where his arrest could be witnessed, in a way that forced them to take him alive, though not for long. It remains a mystery how police connected the alleged copkiller in the movie theater to the assassination.
The alleged “Terror Couple” of San Bernardino is presented as fanatical Muslims, who are said to rant against the Israeli state, Jews, and the West. In prejudiced public opinion revved up by a years-long media bombardment, that alone goes a long way to erase questioning of the official story from the always-lying and inciting Fourth Estate propaganda machine, which is now trying to sell us on yet another major invasion and occupation of the Middle East, promising to “get” ISIS-ISIL-Daesh, which has been funded as a blood-spilling mercenary force by US-NATO and junior partners like Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, aimed at bringing down the legitimate, secular Syrian government. At the same time as the U.S. oligarchy is promoting an armed-to-the-teeth war against the next created “enemy”, they are also using the massacre to advocate gun control in violation of the Second Amendment, disarming the population further, weakening defenses against the growingly repressive police state tyranny, in advance of the mass anger at the collapse of the standard of living. It is treason against the Bill of Rights and Constitutional freedoms in general, and a “crime against peace” ala Nuremberg.
Falsely accused lone-nut assassin Lee Harvey Oswald had supposedly defected to the Soviet Union, and therefore was presented as a “Commie” enemy of the United States, which at that time as now made public opinion, distorted over years of big-lie anticommunist and anti-Soviet war fever propaganda, made susceptible to buying the hype. In those days, “the international communist conspiracy” was targeted similarly to “militant Islam” now, to be automatically blamed and convicted for anything that can be used to infuriate the public.
The latest story about the alleged “Terror Couple” is that they were allegedly seen practicing at rifle ranges and in backyards (“Shooting while Muslim?”). That may remind you, if you are old enough, or studied enough, of doctored photos with Oswald’s face pasted on another body, posing with a rifle in one hand and a pair of newspapers, the Militant and the Worker, newspapers of the Socialist Workers’ Party and the Communist Party USA, respectively. Oswald had also been used first to infiltrate a group called the Fair Play for Cuba Committee as a provocateur, then labeled a “Castro supporter”, again to reinforce public opinion prejudices of his guilt, and to falsely implicate the Soviets and the Cubans, to some degree. A side-point is the fact that the Militant was a Trotsky-oriented paper, whereas the Worker was more mainstream pro-Soviet leaning. The two were hostile toward each other, so that someone waving both together was an incongruity and discrepancy, but what the hell, they were both “commies”, and so, guilty as charged.
Oswald’s alleged rifle was allegedly a mail-order item. It, however, turns out to have been mail ordered and shipped to a Boxholder, in a Post Box owned by an A. Hidell. The gun found or planted at the Book Depository Building where Oswald was conveniently placed in a job along the Presidential Motorcade route only weeks before the fatal JFK visit, was described as a German Mauser, which somehow, after Oswald’s room in Irving, TX, had been ransacked, was later presented as an Italian Carcano, matching the mail-order. Incidentally, the Carcano was a World War I vintage relic, which is considered to be one of the reasons Italy did so poorly in that war, and would be a very poor choice for such a problematic assignment as a Presidential assassination.
The San Bernardino “Terror Couple” had two hand guns, reportedly bought by Farook, and two rifles, reportedly bought by one Enrique Marquez, a North Carolina resident whose record shows a string of about a dozen traffic tickets for speeding and driving without a license, all dismissed. Marquez recently moved right across the street from Farook/Malik, who wound up allegedly in possession of the combat rifles. On the news on the Morning Joe Show, it was narrated that Mr Marquez bought these AK15 rifles “for the Police Department”. The FBI, we are told, only started interviewing this cut-out on Dec. 7, days after he locked into a mental institution. Supposedly the FBI hesitated out of sensitivity to his environment. Yeah, right.
The FBI search of the Farook/Malik apartment was also atypical. The apartment was left entirely intact, with evidence like bank statements strewn on the floor. Now when the FBI or local police search a pot stash, they ransack the place, overturning the furniture, and then loading everything into a truck. After that, unlike in this case, they freeze the crime scene up under police guard for days or weeks, in case they have to return. But in this high-profile mass murder case, that was not done, and the landlord simply opened the location to the media the next day, and they wondered how so much evidence was just left behind. Some “civilian” said on TV that the FBI was encouraging “the people” to look around, and to let the FBI know if they think anything was suspicious, as in “See Something, Say Something. Strange! Could it be that a more thorough search might have turned up embarrassing connections to the state apparatus?
In addition to the ambiguous nature of the publicly reported observational evidence, there are also pieces of character evidence: Almost everyone who personally knew Syed Farook, born in the USA, including his coworkers that had made a baby-shower for Ashlee Malik, are shocked, astonished and surprised that someone they experienced as a peaceful, friendly, even-tempered and reserved person could possibly be accused of such a heinous, brutal crime or act of war directed at innocent women and men, which to me adds to the doubt. This even includes one very committed Zionist, a Messianic “Jew for Jesus”-type, Nicholas Thalasinos, among Farook’s dead coworkers. The two remained on friendly and cordial terms despite passionate arguments over religious differences.
To put things in perspective, the JFK assassination was a coup e’etat, to supercede the elected officialdom (democratic republic, corrupt and racist as it was) with the intelligence agencies created by the National Security Act of 1947, with at least 14 spy agencies coodianted officially by the CIA, and after 911, further supplanted with the creation of the Directorate of National Intelligence.
Even more now during the so-called “War on Terror” than during the days of the “War on Communism”, we are constantly being lied to about everything and everyone. Rather than a “free press”, we face an ostensibly privatized monopoly of press, electronic media, and much of the Internet, where we have some chance of arguing back, though it is an uphill struggle. Always look at what they are trying to sell us, and don’t drink the KoolAid. RESIST!
Or, to make a long story short, see today’s analysis up from Jim Stone—model SUV used is not even off the assembly line for 4 more months, & it’s got a benty Utah license plate.
San Bernadino! Did the Mormons name that city, too?
I guess no one bothers with the details; in addition to really lousy acteurs, they’re such rush jobs there’s no time for rehearsals or time for the props & costume dept.
Paul Craig Roberts on the coming war in the MidEast/Ukraine
http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2015/12/07/war-is-on-the-horizon-is-it-too-late-to-stop-it-paul-craig-roberts/
Sorry to say, I think the perhaps only way to stop this madness from the hegemon will be to have it threaten with nuclear annihilation? The reason is simple, USA is safe across the Atlantic. Europeans and ME region populace are useful cannon fodder. If war breaks, it’s only Europeans and ME people getting killed + Russians (if they are to join in the war). US can then step in just like WWI and WWII and become victors easily. In contrast, the only time sanity prevailed was actually after the Cuban Missile Crisis, where Kennedy and Kruschev come to some sensible “peace” arrangement. I am of the opinion that there after Kennedy stop listening to those “Dr Strangelove” military types and that may have well led or contributed to his assassination….
Paul Craig Roberts is a fatalist and getting worse all the time
Plus, whenever he talks about Russia he is dead wrong. :-)
There is one little fact the author missed, but it is quite important to judge Erdogan. He received a 10 billion funding from Saudi Arabia for his 2014 campaign. Now, this makes him a poodle of the Saudis.
Therefore I prefer to look first at Saudi Arabia and Qatar, they invented ISIS and much more from stage one (see last article of William Engdahl in NEO magazine).
Only looking at Erdogan and not telling where he got his huge money from (beside from steeling whole manufactoring from Aleppo, historical and cultural arts and oil in huge amounts) might mislead the judgement. Without money, this man is gone.
He has made so many enemies in his own country, this is no stable president in any possible way. Turkish people will not allow – mind my words – to let Turkey slip into dictatorship. Erdogan clearly overplayed his political cards with his last criminal acts.
But on the other hand, Saudi Arabia and Qatar – as two examples of true dictatorship – will try to build up their total controlled Sunni oil state, including the oil parts of Syria and Irak and now we directly get to the heart of the matter: the Kurds and their “special” role in this game.
In Syria, we already can see what the US, UK and FR bombings are all about: they want to secure the oil centers. Actually, the US tries to convince the Syria Kurds to retake Rakkah (big Oil!) from the Syrian forces. What do you guess, will they do it? Of course they will. They already allowed the US forces to illegally build their new airport in northern Syria on Kurdish territorium.
The last developments will pave the way for a permanent division of Syria, as Israel and the US have planned long time ago. I guess, Russia will not interfeir because of two major reasons:
1. they don’t have the capacity to permanently secure such large Syrian areas against the coalition of devils;
2. they don’t want a WWIII to be started, Usrael with their EU sluts is willing to risk it (not Italy!), because they are crazy and they know we know it. Playing with fire and risking a total burn down was always part of their planning.
So, as The Saker already stated in his last article, Russia indeed has no real way (some may be disagree wholeheatedly here, but it doesn’t help anyway) to put pressure on these WWIII lunatics and their international banker cohorts, they simply have to let it happen.
Israel is deeply involved in the currrent illegal oil trading via Syria and Irak and it will also be at the center of all future durty deals – as usual acting from behind and well protected by a worldwide information shutdown about everything they did or do in this regards. They worked with the Iraki Kurdish mafia dons since day one (see more voltaire.net about deep Kurdish-Israeli connections).
The really hard decision Russia has to make will come, when Irak officially demands Russian help in freeing the Irak from ISIS (Afghanistan is watching closely). Mosul has already merged into a ISIS/Oil center in Irak and the Sunni majority is quite relaxed with that situation (see Jürgen Todenhöfer on Youtube, who lived with ISIS for two weeks and was in Mosul). This makes clear that Irak is already broken into parts, because the old Saddam forces have now become ISIS generals and fighters – same people, new colors, business goes on.
Qatar already bought special Russian bombs which can’t be mounted on western fighter planes, but they will supposedly use them for “special smear tactics” against Russia in Syria, whatch this thing unfolding.
In conclusion, I’m not so happy about the current developments, because Russia has no real friend in this fight but only crazy enemies. Therefore, the homefronts in the European countries becomes more and more important. They now bear a massive responsibility to break the information shutdown of the MSM in their countries and primarily focus on the war developments in Syria and Irak. This might be very difficult, because their own refugee problems are already a great burden.
Will Iran allow an Islamic State centred on al Anbar and a Kurdish state in northern Iraq to block access to their allies in Syria and Lebanon?
Emphatically NO.
Have no fear, sooner or later bearded Siberians will be sweeping across Iraq and Syria.
Excelent article linked over on MofA site dated 8th Dec explains 2, soon to be 3 Tigris/Euphrates dams in Turkey blackmailing Iraq downstream, as no int’l water treaty here!
Turkish forces in Iraq to impose: The Gas versus the water
Russia is ready to warm up the relationship if Ankara gives up on Syria

Water levels on the Euphrates River flowing Eastern Turkey have already fallen more than half this year. As there is no international agreement for the Tigris with Iraq, the Llisu and Cizre dams on the Tigris (once concluded) and the Ataturk dam on the Euphrates can be regulated”.
3 named are p/o 22 dams part of ongoing GAP Southeastern Anatolia Project Turkey:

Ziad Fadel has a more detailed look at that USAF bombing of the SAA base 2 days ago:
http://syrianperspective.com/2015/12/syrian-army-thwarts-americanisis-attack-on-its-base-in-dayr-el-zor-as-russia-opens-two-airbases-al-waer-ecstatic-after-withdrawal-of-terrorists.html
The SAA opened fire as soon as the trucks started to collect. SAA-MI heard chatter on terrorist telephone demanding some intervention to prevent a slaughter of their ranks, and, abra-cadabra, the U.S. sent in bombers to target the artillery laying waste to the ISIS rodents. Photos of the damage can be seen in the article I posted below from Fortruss.
this note lower down:
Al-Shu’ayraat AB and Tiyaas AB: The Russian Air Force is now relocated at both these airbases in eastern Homs Province. It was not just the Al-Shu’ayraat. RuAF has been seen flying out of these bases for the last 48 hours. Note also that the Kuwayris AB in Aleppo is being revamped.

I think this whole Turkey deal is setting a dangerous precedent. First the shooting of the SU-24, then invading Iraq plus rumors of stepping into Syria. Their Iraq incursion should not be tolerated, the Iraq government already protested it and gave them a deadline to leave or else. The deadline came and went. It seems, for whatever reason (perhaps lack of firepower) Iraq cannot enforce their ultimatum.
Russia cannot strike Turkey on their soil [even though they deserve it] but they can very well do so if indeed there are Turkish troops in Syria, and furthermore they could also hit them in Iraq, if the Iraqis give them the green light. But chances are Russia doesn’t want to. We all know why; Turkey being part of NATO might call on the rest of NATO to retaliate, which is something they’ve clearly been itching to do from the start.
So, who can expel the invaders? It sounds like only the Iraqis and Syrians can do it by themselves. But hang on a minute! If Russia can’t hit them for fear of NATO retaliation, then neither can the Syrians/Iraqis for the very same reason. So who can then? Some aliens from outer space?!?!
To summarize; it’s becoming increasingly apparent that Nato countries can do whatever the hell they want, to whoever they want and no-one can hit back or else they might call on the whole of NATO to get involved.
This sounds like when a bunch of hooligans surround a guy and one of them starts to harass him, to provoke him into a fight. If the guy retaliates all the others will join the beating. The taunting can be ignored, but if the hooligan starts to punch you what can you do to ignore that, even when knowing full well the others will join-in if you punch back? The sad reality is that short from being a Bruce Lee, so the victim can teach the aggressors a lesson, there’s not much one can do in circumstances like that.
This is how this Syria-Iraq situation is beginning to feel.

34 Syrian civilians reported killed in suspected US-led coalition airstrikes
“The alleged attack by US-led coalition forces on the Syrian village of Al-Khan was carried out on Monday. Western sources have put the death toll at 26, but Syrian political commentator Alaa Ebrahim said the figure is likely to be even higher [..]”
“[..] Ebrahim believes this airstrike against Syrian Army troops could have been undertaken as a warning to Moscow.
“Many believe this is a message not to the Syrian government, but to the Russian government to say that despite the deployment of the S-400 air defense systems in Syria – the US still gets its way in Syria and can bombard anyone it wants, including Russia’s closest ally in the group – the Syrian Army,” he said”

A little and brief comment on History
In 1797, just out of the english empire USA signed a treaty of peace with the ottoman empire’s representative in Tripoli :
Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen (Muslims); and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan (Mohammedan) nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.
Exciting short cut isn’t it….

Well Mr. Kadi,
I’m sure you have your reasons but the one dimensional ‘blame Erdogan’ narrative is a little bit stale.
No, Erdogan did not order the Su-24 shot down on his own volition. This would not be possible without NATO approval nor would they have provided an AWACS had this all been Erdogan’s doing.
You ignore many other things perhaps hoping to simplify but there is something called a ‘deep state’ and it has many factions with often contradictory objectives.
On the other hand all parties agree that WW3 will be profitable for the top level gangsters. Surely you must know Erdogan is just one of their henchman in a NATO and CIA/Muslim Brotherhood occupied country.
What ever happens over there you can be sure that on this side of the pond war and terrorism in the middle east will be used to enact fascism and dictatorship at home. Your narrow analysis unfortunately provides cover for the Nazi internationalists and their continuing efforts to impose a globalist reich.
As troubled as I am by these goons I am even more troubled by those who collaborate with my would-be destroyers.
A very clear and unmistakable warning from president Putin and as far as I know the first time he has mentioned anything like this :
“Putin said the results of strikes against Daesh targets with new high-precision weapons should be continually analyzed, and expressed hope that the fight against the terrorists would not require nuclear warheads.
“We must, of course, analyze everything, everything that happens on the battlefield, how the weapons are working. The ‘Calibers,’ the A-101 rockets on the whole have proved themselves very well; they are new, modern and highly effective,” Putin said.
“We know that high-precision weapons can be equipped with both conventional warheads and with special warheads, that is, with nuclear warheads. Naturally, in the fight against the terrorists we hope that is something that will never be needed.”

@So why would America choose Turkey to intimidate Russia if this can be better done in Ukraine? No logical answer can be found, because there isn’t one.
The logical answer is that there is a connection. The Turkish action followed repeated pledges to “protect their historical rights (because no one excludes the fact of re-deportation)” of “our brothers” the Crimean Tatars. Turkey has the advantage to be also Pan-Turkist.
Look how things were seen since April@http://neweasterneurope.eu/interviews/1556-turkey-and-ukraine-should-support-crimean-tatars-together
“Turkey and Ukraine Should Support Crimean Tatars Together”
“If the Russian Federation defies the West, and Eastern Europe again becomes a field of old historical contradictions, the question is what the Crimean Tatars are supposed to do in similar conditions. Ukraine was weak during the Crimean crisis. The West, even knowing all the resulting consequences of the crisis, was not too confrontational and decided to limit its response to economic sanctions and the isolation of Russia in the international arena, creating the old image of a Russian pariah. This approximates the twentieth century, during which the Soviet Union occupied a similar position as a pariah for 20-30 years. Based on the above, this paper aims to demonstrate that the realpolitik is back on the agenda and such “old-new” states as Russia or Turkey are attempting to revive old principles of international relations. This is due to the fact that these countries try to find common ground through millennial imperial ambitions, while facing a wide array of contradictions on the Syrian front, the issue of Crimean Tatars (culturally and historically alike), Russian aggression against Ukraine, the issue of Northern Cyprus and Nagorno-Karabakh.
The issue of Turkey and its policy in relation to the Crimean Tatars will certainly be relevant, and they cannot stand on the sidelines of new geopolitical realities which have come into existence. Turkey as a nation and as a state is at a serious crossroads between its imperial ambitions, which are generally effectively performed by Erdogan, and between the countries of the West. Thus, since the mid-1950s, Turkey has maintained close ties with NATO and the EU. On the other hand, the Russian Federation has already openly restated its claims to neighboring territories, arguing that they are Russia’s “sacred space.” However, it should be recommended to Turkey to take into consideration that if Vladimir Putin said that Crimea is a sacred place for East Slavic civilisation, Turkey should declare that the indigenous people of Crimea are sacred as people of the Turkish Republic.
Crimean Tatars first encountered Moscow face-to-face in 1502, and after that the Crimean Tatar people were in permanent war with Russia, regardless what form it took, whether it was Muscovy, the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union, and now the Russian Federation in the person of Vladimir Putin. Unfortunately, the history of the indigenous people is complicated again by their desire to choose their own future.
Therefore, Turkey with Ukraine should coordinate joint efforts to support the Crimean Tatars in Crimea that have been annexed by Russia, and these two countries need to maintain a consistent position on this issue….”
The attack of the Su should be definitely connected to the sabotage of the power lines in Crimea. The most recent declaration of Joe Biden in Ukraine that US would not ever recognize the “illegal annexation of Crimea” indicates that the Ukrainian front must be reactivated. Erdogan has been subtly advised to have his Saakashvilian moment by taking the mantle of the “protector of the Turks”.
What about the history of NATO’s use of Turkey to do its dirty work as spelled out by Sibel Edmonds, but documented elsewhere as well?
I do not trust this author.
Sybil Edmonds is the person who “alleges” i.e. throws out smears with no evidence at all, that Putin is a gangster who has stolen millions if not more from his Russian voters.
She has imbued the bloggist Corbett with her poison, who masquerades an alternative media person wihilst slagging off at Putin and Russia at every opportunity. Never, I might add with any evidence what so ever.
So – I’d take what she says with a grain of salt. A has- been trying to make a living out of her past.
Isabella I share your cautionary notes on Sybill Edmonds as well as the Corbett Report which I explored, early on. Current, living history is the most slippery slope imaginable for human beings to maintain their footing and not plunge into the depths of error, egos and all.
James Corbett has done a real service at times. His 5 minute 9-11 video is an excellent (humorous!!) antidote to MSM brainwashing on that subject: https://youtu.be/hgrunnLcG9Q For those finally questioning the establishment 9/11 Myth after a decade and a half, minute for minute, it’s the best. And early on Corbett did very well on MH 17 as well. https://youtu.be/gWlAARb0fN4
However at other times, Corbett loses me completely. Clarity and unity are so very hard to come by, even among even those that are searching the hardest for answers. Ego and personality cause all kinds of divergence.
And although Rudy (citing Sybill Edmond’s work) has a valid point about Turkey traditionally being assigned a lot of the dirty work for NATO, Mrs Edmonds, like James Corbett, inspires much less confidence in me than Putin does. Putin’s job is a million times tougher than their’s. Without any adulation, they ought to at least give credit, where credit is due, instead of selling their product, tainted with cynicism towards those, in reality doing far more good than they themselves.
On the scale of resistance to the Empire they are very light stuff compared to Putin and Russia, and they ought to be aware of that fact, acknowledge it, and be less fascinated with themselves, IMHO.
I believe it is not so much Obama or the US government per se, but rather the global elite, or in Putin’s words, the “ruling establishment”, that is pushing the world inexorably toward major conflagration, better known as World War III. That the motive for this deliberate effort to incite world war is incomprehensible has become evident from the number of editorials that seek but fail to explain it. There may however be a physical cause. Toxic dementia, resulting from the accumulation of poisons such as mercury, cadmium and aluminum in the brain, is a condition of mental impairment that affects all of us to one degree or another, but which would affect the very powerful far more than most, due to their extravagant lifestyles. This loss of mental acuity means that members of the global elite or ruling class are incapable of comprehending the imminent danger of nuclear war, regardless of how many logical or scientific arguments are presented to them. Recall it was only several years ago that members of the elite raved at Davos about “living forever”, a sign of mental impairment.
This theory is plausible from historical evidence as well. Not only did the Roman empire fall partly due to toxic dementia among the ruling class, but some anthropologists also believe toxins spelled the end of the ancient Anasazi civiliation in the southeast US.
The causes and likelihood of nuclear war are outlined in this thorough analysis by Joachin Hagopain. For those keen on survival, it is also instructive to do a Google search on Steven Starr’s research into Nuclear Winter.

@Karl P
‘The rich are very different from you and me ‘ – F. Scott FitzGerald.
The pursuit of power over others is a standard psychopathic trait. That’s why there is little or no practical difference between a criminal underclass and the ruling class – both are opportunistic and indifferent to suffering, even see the suffering they cause as a marker of success. Nothing new in this.
Nor is the obsession with health/immortality anything new in general, or its financing by elites a recent phenomenon.
What is new is the scientific illiteracy, combined with great wealth that has lead to a complacent belief that biology has been ‘conquered.’
Anti-aging genetic engineering, with the elusive ‘immortality’ as the ultimate goal is an obsession of the extremely wealthy. That the research offers no guarantees gene-splicing will work in humans, or that there is no way of knowing what the nature-nurture dynamic might throw up is not part of the evaluation: determinism precludes doubts.
Gene expression is not understood by geneticists – far too many variables. Modeling can only predict from known factors. Yet the Cult of Genes (CoG) persists.
No amount of genetic ‘immortality will protect living organisms from bullets, bombs or poison anyway. Or beheadings. And a post-war survivalist culture most assuredly will not need ‘finance’ – real wealth will be physical fitness, practical skills and armed self-protection.
The army of servitors currently catering to the desires of elites will not exist in the post-war world, and armed ‘security’ will be a threat, not an asset. Why continue taking orders when you now have the means to give them? No bunkers are so secure they can’t become death traps.
Such is the fate of a psychopathic culture – the curs will eliminate the ‘thoroughbreds’ and grab assets for themselves.
The greatest flaw of ruling castes therefore not mental degradation, but narcissism.
When reality bites, they will be the first to be ‘eaten.’
The question is – do enough understand that to prevent WWIII ?
So the psychological profile of the criminal matches the crime… thank you for this confirmation, Ghassan.
It was Erdogan’s sick ego that shot down that plane. I am sure he will pay very soon for what he did. Hubris is usually followed by Nemesis.
there aint no tail wagging the dog,
whether its in m.e. by israel, in east asia by japan or in central asia by turkey !
turkey like japan is just a catpaw of the snake, often doubling as fall guy to take the heat, thats what a lapdog is for.
the snake would’ve us beleive that its always dragged into some conflict by its *wayward* allies, screaming and kicking all the way.
in fact its the mastermind pulling the string behind it all.
seen it too many time already,
fool me once…..
” Erdogan believes he is invincible because he believes that he is on a mission and that God is by his side.”
Yawn. All cowards think this way. Unable to take responsibility, they delegate their responsibility to an imagined God – made in their own image – and say to the world. ” Look, folks, God is saying exactly what i wanted to say.”
” f he had any reason to doubt this divine role he believes he has, the November election results put that doubt to rest.”
Erdogan – like all cowards – knows he is a coward. So by faking a massive election win, he hoped to proof to the Turkish people that he is not a fake. Good luck with that!
Gassan Kadi’s analysis is powerful. Once fallen on his sword, who will replace Erdogan? The US goal is to shatter all Islam. It is an Islamic State, now filling with the gross Flesh Eating Disease. Over new 22,000 cases in one city last year.
My understanding of the situation is that Turkey acted alone although having access to US intelligence as they are all giving positions etc to avoid clashes and accidents. What Turkey or anyone else does with this intelligence is up to each party. I think that the USA is in damage control regarding the Turkish.
I’m sure this shooting was made on purpose, even military experts approves it (http://russia-insider.com/en/syrias-arsenal-gets-major-boost-t90-tow-killer-tanks/ri11778). After such a profound analyses, I tend to believe them
