Latin America is re-converting into Washington’s backyard and as a sideline is returning to fascist rule, similar but worse than the sixties seventies and eighties, which stood under the spell of the CIA-led Operation or Plan Condor. Many call the current right-wing trend Operation Condor II which is probably as close to the truth as can be. It is all Washington / CIA fabricated, just with more rigor and more sophistication than Plan Condor of 40 and 50 years ago. As much as it hurts to say, after all the glory and laurels sent out to Latin America – with Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, Rafael Correa, Evo Morales, Lula, the Kirchners, José Mujica, Michelle Bachelet – more than 80% of the population of Latin America were living for some 15 to 20 years under democratically elected mostly left-leaning governments, really progressive. – Within no time, in less than 3 years the wheels have turned.
Latin America was for about 20 years the only western part of the world, that was fully detached from the fangs of the empire. It has succumbed again to the forces of evil, to the forces of money, the forces of utter corruption and greed. The people of Latin America have betrayed their own principles. They did it again. Humans remain reduced as in ancient times, to the unfailing powers of reproduction and ego cum greed. It seems in the end, ego and greed always win over the forces of light, of good, peace and harmony. That’s why even the World Bank calls corruption the single most hindrance to development. They mean economic development; I mean conscientious development. This time the trick is false and fraudulent election campaigns; bought elections; Washington induced parliamentary coups – which in Brazil brought unelected President Temer to power, a prelude to much worse to come, the fascist, misogynist, racist, and self-styled military man, Jair Bolsonaro.
The 2015 presidential election in Argentina brought a cleverly Washington manufactured win for Mauricio Macri, a friend and one-time business associate of Donald Trump’s, as it were. The election was manipulated by the by now well-known Machiavellian Cambridge Analytica method of cheating the voters by individualized messages spread throughout the social media into believing all sorts of lies about the candidates. Voters were, thus, hit on the head by surprise, as Macri’s opponent, the left-leaning Daniel Scioli of the Peronist Victory Front, the leader in the polls, was defeated.
Today Macri has adopted a fascist economic agenda, indebted the country with IMF austerity packages, increased unemployment and poverty from12% before his election in 2015 to close to 40 % in 2018. He is leading Argentina towards a déjà-vu scenario of the 80s and especially 1990’s when under pressure from the US, IMF and World Bank, the country was to adopt the US dollar as their local currency, or to be exact, Argentina was allowed to keep their peso, but had to commit to a one-to-one parity with the US dollar. The official explanation for this, in economic terms, criminal move (to impose the use of the currency of one country for the economy of another country is not only insane, its outright criminal), was to stop skyrocketing inflation – which temporarily it did, but to the detriment of the working class, for whom common staple and goods became unaffordable.
Disaster was preprogrammed. And the collapse of Argentine’s economy happened in 2000 and 2001. Finally, in January 2002, President Eduardo Duhalde ended the notorious peso-dollar parity. The peso was first devalued by 40% – then it floated towards a 70% devaluation and gradually pegged itself to other international trading currencies, like the euro, the Japanese yen and the Chinese yuan. Eventually, the newly floating currency allowed the Argentine economy to get a new boost and recovered rapidly. Perhaps too rapidly, for Argentina’s own good.
The economy grew substantially under the left, fully democratically elected Kirchner Governments. Not only did the economy grow rapidly, it also grew in a widely ‘distributive’ mode, meaning reducing poverty, assessed at almost two thirds of the population in 2001, cutting it to about 12%, just a month before Macri was catapulted into office, by Washington and Cambridge Analytica in December 2015. Argentina has become rich again; she can now be milked again and sucked dry by the banking sector, and international corporatism, all protected by three to be newly established US military bases in the provinces of Neuquen, Misiones and Tierra del Fuego. They will initially be under the US Southern Command, but most likely soon to be converted into NATO bases. NATO is already in Colombia and may soon spread into Bolsonaro’s Brazil.
Though nobody really understands what the North Atlantic Treaty Organization has to do in South America – the answer is unimportant. The empire suits itself with whatever fits the purpose. No rules, no ethics, no laws – everything goes under neoliberalism. NATO is to become a world military attack force under Washington’s control and directed by those few “enlightened”, pulling the strings from behind the curtains, form the deep dark state.
Macri marked the beginning of Latin America’s new fascism. South America struggled for 15 -20 years to become independent from the neoliberal masters of the north. It has now been reabsorbed into the northern elite’s, the empire’s backyard — yes, sadly, that’s what Latin America has become for the major part, a mere backyard of Washington.
Argentina’s Washington imposed right-wing dictatorship was preceded by Paraguay’s 2012 parliamentary coup that in April 2013 brought Horacio Cartes of the right-extreme Colorado party to power. The Colorado Party was also the party of Alfredo Stroessner, the fascist brutal military dictator, who ruled Paraguay from 1954 to 1989.
In Chile on 9/11 of 1973 a democratically elected socialist, Salvador Allende, a was overthrown under the guidance of the CIA and a brutal military dictator, Augusto Pinochet installed for almost 30 years. After a brief spring of center and left-leaning governments, Chile, in December 2017, has returned to right-wing, neoliberal politics with Sebastian Piñera, a former associate of Pinochet’s. With the surroundings of his neoliberal friends and close accomplices in Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Peru and even Ecuador, to be sure, he will move to extreme right, neo-fascist economic rules and, thus, please Washington’s banks and their instruments, the IMF and the World Bank.
Fascism is on the march. And this despite the fact that 99.99% of the population, not just in Latin America, worldwide, want nothing to do with fascism – so where is the fraud? Why is nobody investigating the scam and swindle in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Colombia? – and then putting the results up for everyone to see?
In the meantime, we have learned about Cambridge / Oxford Analytica (CA & OA). How they operate and cheat the electorate. They themselves have finally admitted to the methods within which they operate and influence voters with lies – and with data stealing or buying from social media, mainly facebook; millions and millions of personal data to target electronically special groups of people – bombarding them with lies to promote or denigrate the one or the other candidate.
And precisely this happened in Brazil. A week before the run-off election that took place this past Sunday, 28 October, Fernando Haddad, (PT), launched a criminal investigation precisely for that reason against Bolsonaro’s campaign. Of course, nothing happened. All the judges, courts and lawyers are under control of the unelected corrupt right-wing Temer Government – which came to power by a foreign directed ruthless parliamentary coup, impeaching under totally false pretenses democratically elected Dilma Rousseff.
And now – there is nobody investigating what happened in Brazil, bringing a military boy, Jair Bolsonaro to power? The left is dead? Flabbergasted into oblivion -indeed? – How come? With all the lessons to be learned around the world, and not last in Argentina, the neighbor – why can the Brazilian left be so blind, outright naive, as to not understand that following the criminally legalized system in their country is following the path to their own demise and eventually to shovel their own grave?
From day One, the US firmly counts on Bolsonaro to encircle Venezuela, together with Colombia. President Trump has already expressed his expectations to work ‘closely together’ with the new Bolsonaro Government in “matters of trade, military – and earthing else.” Bolsonaro has already met with Mike Pompeo, the US Foreign Secretary, who told him that the situation in Venezuela is a “priority’ for Brazil. There you go; Washington dictates foreign leaders their priorities. Bolsonaro will oblige, for sure.
Wake up – LEFT! – not just in Latin America, but around the world.
Today, it’s the mainstream media which have learned the tricks and cheats, and they have perfected the Cambridge and Oxford Analyticas; they are doing it non-stop. They have all the fake and fiat money in the world to pay for these false and deceit-campaigns – they are owned by the corporate military and financial elite, by the CIA, MI6/5, Mossad – they are owned and directed by the western all-overarching neoliberalism cum fascism. The rich elite groups have free access to the fake and fiat money supply – its government supplied in the US as well as in Europe; debt is no problem for them, as long as they ‘behave’.
Yes. The accent is on behaving. Dictatorial trends are also omni-present in the EU, and especially in the non-elected European Commission (EC) which calls the shots on all important matters. Italy’s Fife-Star Eurosceptic Government presented its 2019 budget to Brussels. Not only was the government scolded and reprimanded for overstretching its accounts with a deficit exceeding the 3% EU imposed debt margin, but the government had to present a new budget within 3 weeks. That is how a not-so-well behaving EU government is treated. What a stretch of authoritarian EU rule vis-à-vis a sovereign government. And ‘sovereignty’ is – the EU boasts – the key to a coherent European Union.
On the other hand, France has for years been infringing on the (in)famous 3% rule. And again, for the 2019 budget. However, the French government received a friendly drafted note saying, would you please reconsider your budget deficit for the next year. No scolding. One does not reprimand a Rothchild Child. Double standards, corruption, nepotism, are among the attributes of fascism. It’s growing fast, everywhere in the west. It has taken on a life of itself. And the military is prepared. Everywhere. – If only they, the military, would wake up and stand with the people instead of the ruling elite that treats them like their peons. Yet, they are part of the people; they belong to the most common of the people. In the end, they get the same shaft treatment as the people – they are tortured and shot when they are no longer needed, or if they don’t behave as the neocon-fascists want.
So, Dear Military Men and Women – why not pre-empt such risks and stand with the people from the very beginning? – The entire fake and criminal system would collapse if it wouldn’t have the protection of the police and the military. You, dear Men and Women form the Police and Military, you have the power and the moral obligation to stand by the people, not defending the ruthless, brutal elitist and criminal rulers – à la Macri, Bolsonaro, Piñera, Duque, Macron, May and Merkel. And there are many more of the same blood.
———-
One of the first signs for what was to happen throughout Latin America and spreading through the western world, was the “fake election” of Macri, in 2015 in Argentina. Some of us saw it coming and wrote about it. We were ignored, even laughed at. We were told – we didn’t understand the democratic process. Yes, right. In the meantime, the trend towards the right, towards a permanent state of Emergency, a de facto Martial Rule has become irreversible. France has incorporated the permanent state of emergency in her Constitution. Armed police and military are a steady presence throughout Paris and France’s major cities.
There are only a few, very few exceptions left in Latin America, indeed in the western world.
And let’s do whatever we can to save them from the bulldozer of fascism.

One aspect is entirely missing from this article: The spread of pentecostal evangelical cults bij US Christian zionist missionaries.
This cancer completely disrupts the culture and zombifies the people into willing slaves. It is as bad as salafism is for Islam.
Totally true, I’m from Argentina, the evangelical sects are dominated by Brazilian billionaires of dubious origin, I would say that
“Jews”. To understand what happens in Argentina, I recommend that you interview Adrian Salbuchi. https://twitter.com/salbuchi?lang=en

Behind Macri is the Chabad lubavitch (Elsztain, Blejer, Mindlin, Werthein), and a whole network of Zionist financial interests, but Macri is different from Bolsonaro, Macri has an approach to China and Russia in economic terms, Bolsonaro is chinophobic and ultra Anglophilic.
Regards
Macri’s campaign was financed by the ultra-parasite, Singer, who had refused to accept the previous Argentine Government’s offer to bond-holders. No, Singer wanted his entire pound of flesh, from near the heart.Once Macri was elected, Singer got his flesh, wrung from the bodies of the Argentine people.
Here in Austfailia we already have a Pentecostal thug, Morriscum, as Prime Minister. He claims to be a follower of Jesus, but specialises in the barbaric mistreatment of refugee children (and adults). He seems, unsurprisingly, to have missed the Nazarene’s declaration that the abusers of children would be better off chucked in the sea with a millstone tied around their necks.
This so called ‘Evangelism’ cult is nothing new. It is the attempt to Judaize christianity and kill all the traditionalism and mysticism of the Early Church and the wisdom of IndoEuropean ancestors of europeans. It removes all requirements to care about the poor or care for anyone other than the self. It is fundamentally alien to European mentality and was founded by scholars who studied Jewish philosophy and quickly supported by Jewish financiers who wished to relax trade restrictions and the ban on Usury. Protestant interests have always been closely assoicated with NeoConservative/ far right politics.
It started during the 1500s in Germany and Switzerland, where it was called Lutheranism and Calvinism, but being mostly rejected by the German people, it set up home in Netherlands, then it went to Sweden where it became a militarist cult taking over the Baltic, then the English Revolution with Cromwell leading to the Freemasonic slavery corporation India Companies, the genocide of Catholics in Ireland, and then the foundation of the ultimate Wahabi type Protestant state- USA. A land where violence is glorified, the Gun is worshipped as an Idol, extreme Greed is held as a virtue, the environment is to be exploited and destoyed, the nude human body is shameful, War is holy and Peace is Weakness etc. All the countries with Protestantism have a certain depravity and bizarre mentality which is clear to people raised outside these societies.
The countries where Protestant virus has not spread still have some hope and must be on guard at all times against Evangelical subversion. That is why to this day, even the Ukranians and Polish (respectivly coming from Orthodox and Catholic traditions) have not swallowed the LBGT propaganda and maintain traditional views despite their geopolitcal orientation. In Yugoslavia the populations have consistantly rejected all forms of Evangelical subversion despite the billions of dollars spent propagandising in the 1990s and 2000s. Protestantism is finally dead in Nordic countries and replaced with Green politics. In Germany the Catholic south and Atheist East have a big majority over Protestants. However Latin Americans for some reason have a certain receptiveness to the materialist poison which is why Macri and Bolsonaro flourish now. And the people in those countries will pay the price.
Pop a bowl of popcorn and enjoy the weekly critiques of such famous American Evangelicals. American Evangelical theology is being exported to the rest of the world:

It is always amusing to see people who are not American criticize America and American pop culture. Why do you rebuke Americans, but yet you embrace everything that originates from America?
I think the main reason why the population of Latin America has turned to the right wing politicians, is the sanctions that were placed on it by the US after the Left got in. The fact that toilet paper can’t be bought in Venezuela for over a decade gets irritating for the population and they blame it on their own government.
So many folks in the world aren’t interested in the bigger picture – just their own picture – the parks, the wildlife – the oil – matter less than the personal comforts that toilet paper gives.
Not enough peopel want to carry the torch of treedom for their great-grandkids.
Or it could be because the people want to live good lives and do not care about the leftist primary goal of elevating queers, gays, lesbians and (Removed language,MOD).
What you are talking about leftists elevating LGBTQ is a western phenomenon or the so called Post-Marxism which was developed in Britain in the 1980s, also called cultural marxism or identity politics and has been incorporated into liberalism, it has nothing to do with true socialism, it has been developed by the west to compete with true socialism of the east and keep the sheeple divided. True socialism is about the struggle of the working class against the ruling class, not about gay struggle against the straight or coloreds against whites.
Dave, I would go further in time like to the early 70’s.
Principalmente no Brasil.
Translation:
By the way, the scientist Albert Einstein already said: “always do the same and always have the same result”. Well. The power that is operating in the democratic earthquake, not only in Brazil, but on a large scale, has the epicenter in the failure of the monetary mercantile system. Irrespective of any model of government and politics, politicians from all walks of life, including the progressive left, only deal with budgets and laws, for everything in the world. It is an artificial world, product of the fiduciary value and the people if they want to contain the advance of these barbarians will have to face the power. And power can only be faced with power. Leftist leaders do not have a strategy to even weigh the balance and balance in the power of repression. Yes, power of repression. The equivalent of a squad of repression that levels the scale, is the weight of the stoppage. It’s the do not do. Left-wing leaders must act to help the people to exert this power of paralysis on several fronts, preferably in this order: transportation in all modes (terrestrial, aquatic, air) industrial production of goods and services, energy and derivatives production, production of goods of any kind, including agricultural food. Let the very servicemen who serve the far right themselves make the products and services that millions of citizens do. Right-wing leaders and their military will be so busy with the out-of-control that they will be prevented from controlling and manipulating. And they will falter in their chairs and collapse. This is the power of change that emanates from the people and that is capable of changing the results. Especially in Brazil.
Whatever anti-white racial leftists call fascist humanity calls good.
Don’t cry for me Argentina, or should I say Latin America, (To start with, Great article ). Why cant people learn from the past? The Left in L A. is different than the West, and I don’t mean extreme left, Socialism for the people, not dictatorship, independence from imperialism, self determination in everyway, No where is perfect I know, but all this will end with a repeat of history. The people will pay dearly as always, The Military bases, Wow? it takes a volcano to get rid of them, why would you allow this, well we know why. and so on and so on, Munroe doc, roll on..
Brazil is scheduled to be broken up into 3 or 4 states.
Argentina…ditto
Chile yes it will be broken up.
But the biggest surprise awaits Australia…it’s dismemberment is well under way

He is usually very good in what he writes.
The Jewish Mafia full-spectrum controls the Left and the Right alike. A fundamental fact lefties like Peter König simply cannot compute. Unfortunately.
To be fair to the author, it is the herd mentality of the intended primary audience, and not his own weakness — should he be as blunt as we might like, calling the king spade a spade, that his audience and venue would vanish would be an understatement. There are apparently only two distinct opinions for us, and they are in actual fact the same opinion, except they appear to be otherwise as long as our bellies remain satiated. “Until they grab your gruel, you never grasp anything”, A.S.
Terms like Fascist etc are used extensively in this era. For example if a transgender feels themselves to be discrminated, they call their opponents Fascist- even if the opponent is a fellow progressive.
To be realistic- the best govenment possible would contain the best of European Fascism, the best of Soviet Communism, best of French Atheist Egalitarianism and Nordic Social Democracy etc. Pick the best features of all.
For example we can say objectively that the East German state orientality was simultaneously Nationalist Militarist and Economically Egalitarian Communist and Social Liberal all at the same time. Hence we had a German state which had single-ethnic Monoculturalism and military parades from Fascism, , State-owned factories, class-free society and free public transportation fro Communism, Athiesm, widespread Nudity and relaxed sexuality from European Progressivism.

President Vladimir Putin has addressed the plenary session of the sixth Congress of Russian Compatriots, an organization representing Russians living abroad.
Speaking to forum delegates in Moscow on Wednesday, Putin emphasized that Russia would “resolutely protect your rights and interests, using all existing bilateral and international mechanism to do so.”
Such assistance, according to Putin, will include continued material support for the Fund for the Support and Protection of the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad, an organization aimed at providing support for the estimated 30 million Russians living outside Russia, including legal assistance.
Putin noted that the world is presently in a difficult situation, with tensions and unpredictability growing, and the foundations of international law being undermined. “Russophobia and other forms of extreme, aggressive nationalism are being used,” particularly in Ukraine and the Baltic countries, as well as a number of other states, Putin said.

Russian Church Vows Tough Response to Constantinople Over Split Ukraine Church
“History is being rewritten, a struggle with monuments is being waged, as well as one with the Russian language. People are being intimidated and simply terrorized. The natural desire of each person to preserve their national roots is declared to be a crime…The right to freedom of speech, to the preservation of one’s traditions is being grossly violated,” he added.
Putin also commented on what he characterized as an alarming tendency toward politicking in the sphere of interethnic and interfaith relations, which he warned can only lead to grave consequences.
“Unfortunately, [there are forces] trying to break these bonds, to pull everyone apart into their own ‘national apartments’. I want to emphasize that playing politics in such a sensitive area has always led to profound consequences, first and foremost for those who engage in it,” the president said.
“Russia Welcomes Compatriots Who Want to Come Home
According to Putin, Russia would always welcome all compatriots who would like to settle in Russia on a temporary basis, or those deciding to obtain citizenship and move to Russia permanently. “For those who are unlawfully persecuted and threatened, we will do everything in our power to ensure their protection and provide asylum,” he said. ”

I find it remarkable how columnists nowadays stress how the progressive leftist governments in Latin America were democratically elected, only to be ousted by evil CIA-backed caudillos.
Conveniantly forgetting that Bolsonaro has just won a supersolid 55% majority.
This is more than a protest vote!
And just to remember..
1) Dilma won the 2014 election by fraud. (Aécio would have won a clean, legitimate election.) The alleged “coup” against her had the characteristics of the correction of a fraud by political means available.
2) The leftist prez ousted by the military in 1964, Joao Goulart, had NO majority – he came to power as vice president of the legitimately elected Janio Quadros, who resigned in an ill-advised attempt to reign in congress.
3) Calling Bolsonaro a racist, mysoginist, homophobe, fascist etc. etc. eerily reminds me of… drum rolls… drum rolls… yes! Hillary!! The evil “H” herself.
Now that was unexpected. Are 55% of Brazil now deplorable?
I won’t take the “Are 55% of Brazil now deplorable” bait, but Bolsonaro has often declared he is racist, misogynist and homophobic, and he identifies with Pinochet — a fascist he admires very much.
But I will say the reasoning of people who voted for Bolsonaro because he represents something other than the status quo is deplorable. They will be disappointed because they will get what they voted for.
The “left” failed Brazil for about a decade and a half; Brazil’s “right” has failed Brazilians for centuries.
@ Anonymous,
Mod: Stinging insult to another poster removed by Moderator.
1) Bolsonaro didn’t have a supersolid 55% majority. He had 55% of the valid votes. But 20% of the Brazilians didn’t vote, and from the ones who voted, around 10% gave blank/null votes. He actually had 38% of total votes, which translates to 57 million voters. But we have 147 million voters and more than 200 million inhabitants in Brazil. Bolsonaro does have some solid support, but very far from a majority.
2) CIA meddling in Latin American affairs is a given, I won’t lose any time discussing the obvious.
3) If there was a fraud in the 2014 election, it was probably against Dilma. Aecio was the candidate of the Brazilian establishment, including the judiciary system who owns the elections in Brazil.
4)After the 1964 coup, there were opinion polls that showed that Goulart had the majority of the popular support, but those polls were suppressed by the military regime.
5) Hillary? The same one that is part of the Obama/Clinton regime that ousted Dilma Rousseff?
Finally, not every Bolsonaro voter is a deplorable. But the core people that support him are far worst than deplorable.
The guy is combating communism.
From that you can imagine how deep is the dream he is living in…
Bolsanaro is an emissary of hatred, of gays, women, black and mixed race Brazilians, environmentalists, workers, the indigenous, the Amazon, the Palestinians etc. Hence he is welcomed in Zionazistan, a regime based on hatred, and in Thanatopolis DC, where hatred of the Other is the real State religion. He will be a catastrophe, but who among the global ‘Western’ overclass cares what happens to the untermenschen?
DC,
Going by what you are saying, the people who did not vote or ones who returned blank cards, deserve what they get. I understand that this is supposed to a protest. Obviously in their minds neither choice was acceptable, and they can’t be blamed for that. Also, this seems to be the common problem in all the countries. People get to choose between bad or worse, of course if people coordinated their voting and nobody voted than this would send loud and clear message to the puppet masters.
Yes, “if people coordinated their voting and nobody voted”, venal politicians could no longer claim they are legitimate, even in their own eyes. People have the choice to not vote, and take the time to develop their own platforms and candidates while they ignore and exclude existing parties from their deliberations. This is supposed to be legal in both the US and Brazil. (It is legal, but prohibited. If you doubt me, try it and see what happens.)
The hard part would be getting rid of smart phones, using encrypted communications that are not compromised by Silicon Valley collaborators, and dealing with the Stasi, which will spare no expense to infiltrate all groups, monitor all communications 24×7, and put people they simply do not like under Zersetzung torture.
One may wonder, doesn’t any Constitution have provisions for ’emergency’ situations? The NSDAP (‘Nazism’) entrenched itself in power by applying the emergency laws of the Weimar Constitution, democratically voted by the Reichshtag. Martial Law is an essential attribute of the state. We don’t live yet in the anarcho-communist stateless Utopia that the ‘Left’ tried to usher it in through the… ‘dictatorship of the proletariat’ (i.e. terror). Latin America doesn’t live anymore in the time of Guevarism and Tupamaros.
“Latin America doesn’t live anymore in the time of Guevarism and Tupamaros.”
Indeed. I moved to Brazil in 1999, and lived here for most of the years of the Lula and Dilma administrations. A high school friend from Texas also lived here during those years, and we spent some time together. This former friend was also employed for a few years as Director of Goldman Sachs in Brazil, and during one of our many talks [arguments], he told me that soon after Lula was inaugurated in 2002, Lula asked a room full of bankers and impresarios: “What do you need?” I don’t know if my former friend witnessed this first hand, or it is hearsay. But that anecdote, and the fact that Brazil’s middle class bore the tax burden which helped lift millions of Brazilians out of poverty, not Brazil’s oligarchs, does indicate to me that Lula and Dilma were not the Communists Veja, Rede Globo, Folha de Sao Paulo, Bolsonaro and his supporters claim they are.
And Thats why Lula was arrested. You do not negotiate with these people because to them this is a weakness sign.
Despite all the power he was fighting against he did not tried one move against them.
So it was just a matter of time to PT loose power and it happened in a spectacular way showing all the REAL weakness of this political party.
The coup was made possible by people set in power by Lula himself!
There is one thing that makes PT absolutely blind: ideology. That also shows their lack of knowledge about the powers that be.
There are people in Brazil that do not belong to the “deep state” and do not have the same “left” ideology.
PT put all those in the same sack and ultimately because this the party do not have the minds to rule the country.
They were outsmarted!
”Today Macri has adopted a fascist economic agenda, indebted the country with IMF austerity packages, increased unemployment and poverty from 12% before his election in 2015 to close to 40% in 2018.”
Needless to say, this development is extremely reactionary, vile, and retrograde. But applying the fascist label somewhat misses the point. The key priority of fascist domestic politics is to strengthen the state, accompanied by massive violence, demagoguery, and tangible sops to the ”true” citizenry — as per the whims of fascist propaganda. In short, fascism bribes a mass base for it to be used as a battering ram at home and abroad.
Neoliberalism as personified by the scum now holding office in Argentina and Brazil (and earlier represented by the Pinochet junta in Chile) actually amounts to applied anti-nationalism, and it usually doesn’t promote popular mobilizations of any kind. To the neoliberal wing of political reaction, trashing the state, its economy, giving away a country’s wealth for free, and letting the poor feel the full brunt of this wrecking are the preferred ways of maintaining the system.
But, all in all, another very good submission of Peter Koenig’s. Only so sad to read.
Excellent comment. Bolsonaro in particular is a new (and complex) hybrid of neoliberal economics, authoritarian politics and fascist rethoric. He isn’t the typical fascist of past times, He’s more like an adaptation of fascism for neoliberal times.
Agreed. I don’t see Bolsonaro as “complex”, but he is a new kind of fascist nationalist, the sort that can’t wait to give away their country’s raw resources to Tio Sam as fast as possible. He seems kind of short sighted and simple minded to me, and he is respecting a very old tradition here: auto-interessa acima de tudo. His supporters who are not wealthy thought they were respecting that tradition too, but voted against their own interests, just like American voters do.
Bolsonaro’s supporters are very similar to Republican and Democratic voters in the US, who couldn’t give their country’s manufacturing base to China fast enough, so plutocrats could add a few more bathrooms to their ninth house.
On the other hand, Hitler was all about self interest too, above all else, as is Bolsonaro. Hitler splurged everything Germany had on his crazy war against Russia, and when he failed, he decided it was everyone else’s fault, and forced little boys and old men to protect his bunker.
I am thankful Brazil does not have dozens of aircraft carriers and thousands of nuclear tipped missiles.
@Stan,
As an individual, Bolsonaro is a simpleton. A moron, in fact. What is complex is the coalition of social forces that elected him, and the social conditions that allowed this to happen.
Thank you, D.C.
Another interesting case are the Ukronazis. Stark, raving mad and evil like true Nazis and boasting all the paraphernalia of a genuinely fascist society, but totally committed to perpetual Western imperial rape as demanded by neoliberal orthodoxy.
The country in today’s world which credibly seems to fit the template regarding fascist domestic politics (and not because of the swastikas) is Modi’s India. The West, for its part, sticks to fascism’s foreign policy of plunder, war, and genocide.
Peter seems to be promoting the favored neo-con cryoto-marxist jargon as painting all nationalists with the “fascist” brand. Nationalism is actually a good thing as it keeps, or it’s supposed to keep, the globalist trash out.
Going throuth most of the comments, it appears that ‘fascism’ is identified with ‘nationalism’. Nationalism is the bugbear of Soros ‘open society’. Nationalim is supposed to be ‘anti-globalist’, ‘anti-imperialist’ cum ‘homophobic’. So, where do we really stand? What are we fighting against?
@Anonymous
Fascists constantly express a rabid form of nationalism, threaten violence against large swaths of their own countries’ populations, and openly disrespect other nations, even while on their best behavior. Fascists also harm their own nations, as Hitler, Mussolini and Franco demonstrated. We already know how destructive they are for the countries they rule; they are far more destructive than the most menacing swarm of lesbians you may have crossed paths with. I stand, or rather sit, against fascism, and I have been tortured for doing so.
Neoliberal Soros and US Democrats have enabled fascism, in Ukraine for example, and their “globalism” has nothing to do with my own curiosity about the world, and my preference to live in ethnically heterogeneous environments instead of Armpit, Texas, where I spent the first twenty seven years of my life. (I am assuming you would label me a “globalist” because I would like to be able to cross borders and work in various countries as easily and quickly as Soros’ capital does, but I do not vote for US Democrats or Republicans, and my opposition to fascism does not make me one of those fascist enabling neoliberals supported by Soros.) I have also been tortured for sitting and mouthing off against neoliberals. I was put in the US’ Zersetzung torture program while G. W. Bush and D. Cheney occupied the White House, but the attacks against me increased dramatically in frequency and severity during Obama’s eight years in the White House.
>> “What are we fighting against?”
If Americans and Brazilians inisist on living their entire political lives in the Soros v Hitler cage, there is no hope. Rational solutions to the meat and potatoes issues: War & Peace, and wealth distribution & concentration, can be worked out by populations that pay attention to, and care about these issues, if populations and individuals look beyond “just us, and just The Party”.
Here are a few examples of what I am talking about. Just a few… Though my US citizenship is tenuous, I lived there for a little more than four decades and paid attention to what matters. I say the US would be a healthier country if it ended their unwinnable and offensive wars, dismantled hundreds of overseas bases and turned soldiers into citizens with constructive skills, and paid long overdue reparations to the Palestinians as it twists Israel’s arm into respecting a viable, sovereign Palestinian state. It could also incentivize US businesses to gradually repatriate its manufacturing base — a euphemism for its decimated middle class economy — via the tax system. (Note: during Eisenhower’s “communist” administration, the top marginal tax rate in the US ranged between 88% and 90%, when much of the now crumbling infrastructure was built.) The US could re-create a peace-time real economy, not this absurd, perpetual war-based, financialized economy run by arms merchants and too big to fail banks — those yellow socialist organizations which privatize gains and socialize losses. Trump’s tarrifs are idiotic, and may not just wreck the already tottering house of cards, but also provoke a war with nuclear armed China. And FFS, dismantle that kleptocratic Alphabet Stasi, and build an “intelligence” community that can figure out how to help “defend” something beyond its never ending budget increases. Fascism inspired and fascist infested, the CIA, NSA, FBI, Infraguard, arms dealers, and the affiliated private “security” complex employ the same Zersetzung torture tactics the Cheka, NKVD, KGB and Stasi used on Soviet and East German dissidents, while enjoying much larger budgets, fine grained control over the internet and media, and the help of a massively deluded population which pays for its own 24×7 surveillance devices. The US became a totalitarian basket case after 11-Sep-2001, but only some of its torture subjects realize it.
My passport tells me which country to criticize, but I’ve been in Brazil for some years, studied some of its history, and paid attention. So, though I have things to say, I should be careful and brief. Brazil has so many resources, and many people who want to develop Brazil into a “sovereign” nation which can design and build computers, manufacturing robots and electric vehicles as well as anyone, but there is no will in the political class, and the garchs are inert. They refuse to accept political and economic changes which would force them to work harder to the maintain control a small number of families have enjoyed for centuries. Let me explain what I mean when I say the garchs are inert. When you think of delicious coffee, you might think of Celebes, Ethiopia or Costa Rica. When you think of instant coffee, you think of Brazil. I don’t have data in front of me, but I will risk getting caught pulling BS out of my arse. Brazil is the world’s largest exporter of coffee, and its coffee barons, if you will, could invest time and money into creating high quality coffee strains for export at premium prices. But what do they do? Export Nescafe. Crap. Then there is steel. Brazil shipped many tons of little steel balls to China during the boom years. Why didn’t the private and public sectors take the initiative and use some of the billions of R$ stolen during those boom years to develop ways of turning raw steel into refined, durable goods of exportable quality?
Now, Bolsonaro talks about what he wants to do to “communists” and “gays”, and wants to cooperate with Trump’s plans to attack Venezuela in various ways, including outright invasion — Trump’s own generals have already had to talk him out of that once. So back Brazil goes to its centuries old status quo: be utterly dependent on the constant boom and bust cycles of the commodities markets, and use right wing repression to ensure nothing changes. I could go on, but I doubt you care for what I have to say, and I have to live somewhere other than USA! USA! USA!, which is a less desirable, more dangerous place for me to live in than Brazil.
Anonymous, it is possible for nations to respect their own and other countries’ sovereignty — which Brazil often does because it understands its limits, and the US never does because it does not know its limits — without resorting to frothing-at-the-mouth nationalism. Both Brazil and the US have far more important things to worry about than threats from gay people and atheists, or sending the US Army to the southern border to battle exhausted refugees fleeing the neoliberal installed, US proxy dictatorship in Honduras.
You (assuming you are Brazilian), like Americans, are not picking your battles very well. You can revert back to the bad old days, and imprison, torture and kill people because you don’t like the color of their skin, or because they are poor or don’t think “right”, but that is not very courageous, and it won’t solve even one of Brazil’s chronic problems.
Stan, I’m a Brazilian and all I can say is that you have a very solid grasp about Brazil and its centuries-old economic and social problems. You understand Brazil far better than most brazilians. Congratulations, and thank you very much for helping to uncover the truth about my country. Maybe it’s also your country…
Hi DC, I have never thought of Brazil as “my” country, and realized the US was never “mine” a long time ago. But the US has rented Brazilian goons to assault me here in Sampa, so I have earned the right to express some of my opinions about Brazil.
Good luck to you, erhmmm… all of us.
(If you live in Sampa too, wanna meet?)
Stan, maybe you are like old Erasmus, a “citizen of the world”. Anyway, from my part, you’re welcome in Brazil. Feel free to criticize it as much as you want, things are really bad here as you already know.
Unfortunately I’m not from Sampa.
The article makes sense. The Empire is retreating from the Middle East and from Asia to the American continent. Reconquer Latin America and then force those countries to conduct trade in the US dollar. The USA is certainly retreating from Asia. India is one of many examples:
https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-10-31/india-calls-trumps-bluff-will-pay-russian-s-400s-rubles
After the military coup of September 1973 everybody in Chile was blaming everybody else except Washington or the CIA for the disaster. In fact most Chileans were blaming each other specially among Lefttists. After the so called “democracy” came back almost two decades later, everyone was also saying that the Pinochet dictatorship had been 98% Made in Chile and everyone who lived throught that period in Chile knew it was so, despite the convenient narrative of the international Left concerning these events.
I, for one, am for starting placing the blames where they belong in our South American continent and stop blaming the U.S, and the CIA for everything bad and unpleasant that happens in our countries. That is not the truth. Even the military regimes of the 60s and 70s were not 100% a Washington fabrication but the result of the fear in the national oiligarchies that the Cuban Revolution could inflame the entire continent and so they would lose it all. Of course Washington gave a helping hand, as always, but there is absolujtely nothing that Washington can do In South America without a strong local helping hand. This was best proven when the duo Nixon/Kissinger were unhappy because of the election of Salvador Allende in Chile and sent the CIA to prevent him from taking office. No one in Chile wanted to cooperate with the plan, except the most rabid right wing extremists. Out of desperation the CIA finally gave weapons to some of these nuts so they could stir trouble, which promptly go and try to kidnap the Army chief and bungled the operation and end up killing hikm, giving Allende a free honeymoon that he promptly squandered because of his incompetence as a political leader and as organizer, let alone as political strategist.
Point is, most of what happens in South America got local roots, is happens because of local developments there and not because of Washington so people should stop resorting to the old cliche “The CIA did it” in every possible unpleasant occasion and start looking for the causes in their own backyard so to speak.
While we are on the subject of “Fascism vs Nationalism”, I just stumbled on a very interesting article about Germany’s AfD. The following statement, and I quote:
“Mainstream occasionally reminds us that the homeland of the AfD is the territory of the former GDR. And it is taken as axiomatic that xenophobia and nationalism would have festered there because of the region’s Communist past, so unlike the open and sophisticated society of West Germany”… actually may or may have not surprised me.
Which one is it? Well, lets look at the issue. I said it before that in my teenage years, when I was well versed in Russian, I happened to read a lot of what Lenin wrote (in Russian), and his position was very clear: “Socialism/Communism and Nationalism are not exclusive”. This is contrary to what Globalists are pushing down our throats today, which is “we are one” as the song from the late 70’s or maybe early 80’s said.
You think about it, why the said Ex-Communist part of Germany is the biggest AfD’s supporter. Come to think of it, isn’t Merkel from that part of Germany as well? So, what’s wrong with her? Again, do some thinking.
Okay, one Greek prof. from Crete recently said: “Fasizmos ine via (I wrote it is it sounds)”, which means “Fascism is “rape””. I used the word “rape” to emphasize the brutal behavior of Fascism, and by those standards you do not have to look past the “Globalist EU/West”, and I do not mean the people (deplorables if you like).
The article is here:

all my life I could never understand the left..its as if they talked left but did not understand dialectics at all. what did they expect from the empire, why would the empire stop..it cant!
the empire is more dialectic than the left, more on the evolutionary ball, always aware of the stage of things and what they can do to destabilize the left. the left are scared people, fearful people, afraid to accept what good analysis tells them then sit and wait for the empire to come back
I am appalled at Maduro in Venezuela! does he not realize that he has to go to the left, all the way, as fast as that is possible..to democratize his country, to place the nation in the hands of the people and to work with them rapidly developing the structures the make democratic control possible, effective in all ways.
that is the only way to protect the country against the fifth columns..to end corruption and betrayal like what happened in Brazil. how can the empire come in and corrupt if there is no bureaucracy and judicial system that eats corruption for breakfast?
how can the empire corrupt a system of justice based in the village and towns totally accessible to the people in the village and towns who can reform them at will, as they go..take out any corruption and punish it directly ?
how can a bureaucracy be corrupted when there is none..the work of government departments diffused to the people in towns and villages subsumed by and into direct participatory popular activity and organizational forms created by the people according to need, as they go. they can have one form today and next week adjust it according to need..all popularly controlled.
the people in full and developing ownership of the nation is the only way. how can the empire bribe the whole democratic nation..the people in full participatory ownership of the nations, no place and room for the fifth column to exist they will leave and go elsewhere and try to foment an uprising and a coup. but that wont work. in a shit while any potential for such activity to have any chance that to work will pass in the success of the democracy
if all the nonsense these left leaders continue to engage in continues they will all fail as they all have already..their nations will return to the imperial control. total social transformation is the answer. I have been stunned by all those left leaders. they thought the empire would leave them alone to play around with their democratic socialism nonsense.
but the empire cannot afford even half alternative examples to their capitalist rapine. the empire will tolerate nothing of the kind..and all the so-called democrats and leftist should have known that, and therefore have been serious about their democracy and independence..and know how to get it..and how to keep it. the left must be prepared to transform society into real democracy, at speed and thoroughness… or forget it
every area of constitutionally mandated concentrated social power is where the fifth column lives..the bureaucracy, the judiciary, the police and military ete., the guys with the university degrees…one, two and 3 the doctors and lawyers etc. and the guys with the guns…the generals. these must be targeted for immediate discretion and diffusion into popular control. this development would kill the professional fifth column.
to discrete the business fifth column we have the means of worker co-ops and any upgraded means now available and to come by practice to discrete what becomes business activity into the hand of those who work in any and all industry. those who work must own..period
and banking..the banking industry must be reformed instantaneously..control of the currency returned to the people, the functioning of commercial banks strictly controlled or their elimination entirely the banking function taken over by popular cooperatives..and again always adjusted, by any new forms of banking the people may discover more suitable to their needs as they go.
and of course the media..and the internet that must be controlled and diffused immediately also, into the hands of the people….ALL OF IT!
a million small efforts may spring up..even in critique of the government let them..as long as all efforts can been seen as and function in the real democratic interest
and the socialist must be prepared to explain to the people as they go all that is going on: in practice they must take the opportunity to teach the people the proper and accurate way to understand society as they deal with their reality, their problems, meet their needs in the teeth of the Imperial response that is sure to come hand on. in a few years the must be as sophisticated Marxist methodology they would be taking it forward collectively, developing progressive thought on their own, no longer in need of any intellectual leadership at all from the so-called above
the people will suffer of course. the people always suffer anyway, are always under capitalist/imperial attack. the people will suffer, are suffering under same and if they move to help themselves the suffering will increase. but they suffer for nothing. they must suffer for the end of their suffering. this effort and suffering must be the last for the socialists must be determined to put an end to capitalism once and for all. there must be this light at the end of the tunnel.
it is as if Maduro, Lula and the rest were sent to increase the peoples suffering for no good reason, to fail and set the people back a generation or they probably cannot afford at this stage. with these ‘socialists’ the people will have to repeat the same thing over again. a generation up the road, elect a new “socialist” who will likely betray the situation again.. and after loads of extreme fascistic depredation on the people by such as the Bolsanaro we swing back to another left interlude
these “socialists” are totally unfit and incompetent people who do not do their nations and peoples any favours. they are also ‘suicidalists’ for the empire will not let them live when it gets back in. the empire will kill them too as it killed Allende’..so they are setting up their own deaths by their bloody ideological and existential timidity
Toward fascism with death squads at a local level and world war on a macro level is how the pendulum is swinging. We have yet to see where the swing to the right peaks and begins to move back to the left. Note also that the speed of a pendulum is maximum in the middle, where it has the least potential energy, and stopped at either extreme with maximum potential, if one wishes to use this metaphor in regard to human politic.
Washington State passed additional restriction on the purchase of Self-Loading long guns last night. Mayor Bloomberg can congratulate himself, while doubling his personal security staff if he visits Seattle. Very-few murders are committed with rifles or carbines (long guns), but they are very useful for members of the Citizen Militia.
Americans get the least news from our economic colonies on other continents, and may not realize that the US FRN is circulating globally in a size useful as an economic weapon against the American domestic economy. Foreign central banks are divesting in the USD / US Treasury obligations and looking to alternatives in gold, as well as obligations outside the Dollar not denominated in USd. This will hurt the “Free Stuff” and “Cheap Stuff” economy enjoyed by the 50% of Americans who are in a household that is not productive enough to be obligated to pay federal income taxes. But, my optimistic note is that Americans are unlikely to participate in a street revolution as long as they get enough food calories, and US farmers are supremely effective at outputting GMO-semitoxic food simulacra in great quantity per acre as long as the chemicals and Diesel keeps coming.
