The Americans won’t cooperate and won’t even converse with the Russians.
The US fired some long range artillery into the desert in front of Al Tanf.
When the Russians/Syrians/Iranian militias move on that and other US bases in Syria, they will soften it up from 1000 kms or many hundreds of kms with Kalibr missiles.
Ah, that’s where a next US attack gets interesting. Its the point why Mad Dog pulled his punch last time.
Currently, Russia would seem unlikely to directly attack US bases and troops with Russian weapons. At the current time, that appears to be an escalation that Russia doesn’t want to make.
However, if a US led attack were to directly target and kill Russian personel and facilities, the situation changes. If there is an exchange following such an attack, Russia might well decide then that targets like the Al-Tanf terrorist base are fair game. After all, if American cruise missiles hit Russian bases and kill Russian troops, then any reason for restraint towards Al-Tanf disappears.
That’s the US’ problem. They have a lot of vulnerable targets around that might die in such an exchange. I’m assuming that the war stays limited. Some shots fired each way, then a ceasefire. The Americans have a fair number of bases and units that could be hit in such an exchange.
Last time, the post-attack story-making said Trump wanted to attack Russian targets, but Mad Dog veto’d that idea and America was left with the ineffective target list the world saw. Questions like what happens to Al-Tanf when a barrage of Kalibre missiles precedes an offensive that removes that terrorist base were probably the reason why Mad Dog pulled his punch.
Of course, one reason for assuming the exchange stays limited is because otherwise it doesn’t matter. If the next US attack on Syria were to escalate to a global war, then we all die and no one cares who won or who lost or which targets got hit. It simply won’t matter.

Yes, Moscow means business. We now have the final battle against ISIS in Syria. The Russian military presence is in fact stronger than it appears at first glance. The Russian Air Force in Syria has the backing of the Russian Air Force inside Russia, as well as from the Russian Navy in the Mediterranean, the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. Geography is in Russian favor, as well as the latest Russian military high tech. The Pentagon better think twice about any major assault against Syria.
I find it very interesting that not only that the Americans have not moved carrier groups into the area as they would have in the past, but that they’ve withdrawn the Truman from the Med all the way back to the east coast of north America.
Talk about the Americans assembling force only mention airpower in terms of old B-1 bombers that are long range cruise missile launchers. The Americans seem to be quite afraid to fly airplanes into Syrian airspace within range of Russian SAM’s.
Not only that, but even in terms of a cruise missile attack , the supporting ships in a carrier battle group have substantial cruise missile firepower. But the Americans have chosen to withdraw such battle groups all the way back to the east coast ports. Not only do the Americans seem afraid to fly into Syrian airspace, but they seem to regard their carriers as being very vulnerable should any exchange of fire result from this fake crisis.
Russia is speaking softly but as can be seen from these videos; carries a very big stick – to paraphrase Roosevelt.
The US, that is in Syria solely for the purpose of doing Israel’s bidding, had better take note.
Rest assured, Israel and its stooges – cowards and criminals all – will have Russian military might to contend with for years to come – at least 50 years for starters.
The US last demand of Assad included allowing American oil companies to grab the Syrian fields and profit from them. The US interests do coincide with Israel’s, but never underestimate the power of money and greed and how that relates to American politicians.
Living a little closer to the scenes of action than most of you, I’ll say that everything is a tight as a drawn bowstring, IOW everyone in this AO is fluffed, buffed and ready to go if not already gone.
The Marines landing in Syria will, in my estimation, stay in place for some time, with more ground assets added to this detachment. The fact that the ‘exercise’ was not called off due to rough seas and storms says all, this Op would go no matter what. From the looks of it, Mother is annoyed, and rightly so. US/nato have no right, nor international mandate, to be in Syria and this gives the lie to ‘fighting terrorists’. Russia has done more to eliminate said ‘terrorists’, read paid and west supported mercenary army who’s task was pure and simple, to destroy Syria and remove the legally elected government of Syria, in two years than the ‘coalition’ has done in six.
This fact in and of itself puts proof to the conjecture that this entire hideous war has but one goal, this being to pave the way for massive POL transit systems to bring said products to the shores of the Med in vast quantities, thence to Europe, resulting in severely limiting the European POL market for Russia. The term for this is open and blatant economic war.
The next seven days will be of utmost import. The false flag chemical attack scheduled for the Idlib area will commence on or about 16 September. Russia has detailed information, as does Iran and Syria, and UN Security Council has some of the information Russia has, and Russia has laid out to The World the chemicals, where they are from, who delivered them via what route, and who, including ‘nato’ assets on location, has planned and will prosecute this chemical attack against civilians. The goal of this war crime is to give ‘nato’ the excuse to conduct an overwhelming attack against Syria, in essence bomb that country back to the stone age, force Russia to leave Syria to her fate, and ‘US/nato’ will occupy Syria.
This is the driving force behind this manufactured crisis, and the crisis seems to be out of control. It is apparent the the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States of America has no control over either those armed forces or foreign policy. The government in Washington is in a severe crisis with an ongoing, for almost two years, coup against the sitting and legally elected President of the United States of America. This means that non elected ‘officials’ and career civilian employees of various three letter agencies in and around Washington are running the show and actively participating in the coup against President Trump.
The bombing and missile attacks against Syria will be from both ‘US/nato’ and Israel. With Russian air defense assets now covering, if needed, most of Syria, there will be significant losses among attacking aircraft and missiles. These confirmed losses may well escalate the crisis exponentially. At this time, I think we are roughly 10 seconds from a very serious incident that may snowball to open war between Russia and ‘nato/USA’. This is the most serious crisis I’ve seen in 55 years and I see almost no way for this crisis to dissipate without either USA or Russia backing down. Russia will not back down this time, this one is for all the marbles, ergo either USA blinks or it’s on.

During the last false flag, there were some cracks in the western media narrative. A veteran, respected reporter named Robert Fisk went to Ghouta and reported in an English newspaper that there alledged chemical attack was fake. In America, a small conservative cable news network sent a reporter to Ghouta who reported also about how the alledged attack was fake. And more importantly, Tucker Carlson used a prime time show on the popular right winge news network to also question the narrative.
If there is a future crisis, and if we don’t then all die in a nuclear war, then Russia appears to be playing this to try to capitalize on that narrative. Of course, some outlets like the NYT, Washington Post or CNN won’t broadcast anything but the official government narrative. But if more of the others broadcast the truth that Russia laid all of this out in advance and it happened just like they said, perhaps that can add a few cracks to the wall. Perhaps it will increase the numbers in the west who are already questioning what they are told.
If it really worked, the results could be explosive. America and the west was fed on the propaganda narrative that first evil Al-Qaeda attacked and then deserved to fight a war against them. The propaganda blamed the 3000 deaths of 9-11 on Al-Qaeda, and President Bush said that Americans had to be either with them or against them. If it really ever gets through to the sleeping American people that their government has been aiding and arming Al-Qaeda, then there could be an explosion. The same with ISIS, since the ISIS terror attacks were used to frighten the population and justify this Syrian invasion. If the sleeping American people wake up and realize that America deliberately created ISIS and thus caused those awful terror attacks, then there could be a big explosion of anger.
I doubt that will actually happen. The lying media will probably hold the line. They will probably do enough to obsfuscate and confuse the issue. But there are some high stakes on the table built up from all of the propaganda declaring Al-Qaeda and ISIS to be such horrible enemies.

I agree with you. On this occasion Russia will not back down. In fact it did not back down on previous occasions, providing Syria with covert, sophisticated back up. However, we now have the final battle against ISIS. Idlib is their sole remaining base. Once it falls, the US will have no excuse to stay in Syria. The Russian Naval presence is a warning to the US military that no major attack against Syria will be tolerated.
Watching all the videos a second day, we can imagine the impact on many Russian citizens seeing their military in such strength of force 1000 kms from home.
Soon to be followed with the enormous Vostok-2018 exercises in the East, Siberia, including thousands of Chinese PLA and a force from Mongolia (normally trying to be neutral in matters of Hegemon vs Eurasian powers.)
Also, going on in the Sea of Japan off the Far East coast are other naval exercises.
Russia is putting out the muscle for US and its “allies” to observe that she is capable to defend East and West and operate at significant distance from home with a significant war effort.
Homeland defense and the international fight against terrorism are causes for unity at home.
The smug, arrogant, deviant US military is led by morons who apparently equate Russian military to Saddam’s or Ghaddafi’s. They are in for a very disastrous awakening. If blood flows from Russian bodies, the US will be taking a catastrophic loss in Syria.
Recall the Navy boat that surrendered to the Iranians. That’s what will happen to Americans by the thousands in Syria unless they want to fight to the death under barrages of thermobaric artillery shells, rockets and missiles.
Even though the bases in Syria, recently, have brought in radar and some defensive equipment, those bases are set up to defend against VIEDs driven at them, and weak ground forces that might try to attack on foot. That’s not what will be used. They are death traps designed by Hollywood set designers for a “Rambo” or Chuck Norris film.
Larchmonter 445, a quote from Incident On Simonka puts it in a nutshell:
“What few of those Marines who have actually fought, not a damned one of them has fought anyone like those Russians. That was about the toughest looking bunch of warriors I’ve ever seen and that’s exactly what they are, professional warriors, all of them, and some of them are hardly old enough to shave.” Kommand Master Chief Joseph Miller.
Methinks Mother is ready, and this time, like last time a few months ago, Mother will not back down. The difference this time, in my opinion, is there will be a choice for Uncle Sugar: Fire one missile and face the consequences, or go away. Your choice. Russian soldiers are scattered all over Syria as advisers, technicians, liaison, recon, Intel, Military Police, medical, you name it, they are there. One Russian soldier with a broken fingernail and it’s on big time, the usual excuses of ‘it was a mistake’ or ‘it was an accident’ won’t fly this time.
US/nato lackeys have backed themselves in to a corner, scattered hither and yon in small units and basically defenseless positions. They have forgotten the summer cauldrons of ’14 when all those young soldiers Strelkov lamented not coming to the colours returned from their training and equipage, which he sent them to, and savaged the orc army in one day. Think Grad, Hurricane and Smerch for starters, and those charming greeting cards will be just the knock on the door, the warm up before things get serious.
The Russian Populace is squarely behind the President and the armed forces, regardless of the breathless reportings of the west media. Patriotism is running high, at least in my quaint little backwater village.
The US has bombed a town in Deir-ez Zor with white phosphorous today……war criminals with no conscience they are so psychopathic they can’t see how ridiculous their cries about “chemical weapons” in Idlib truly are:
I am a loyal Russian soldier with special military operations training on the ground in Idlib province. I’m here because my government ordered me and my comrades to fight along side the Syrian Arab Army to destroy the terrorists that are engaged in the Syrian civil war. This is expected to be the last major military conflict to free Syria from Islamist extremists supported by their U.S.-NATO allies. I believe in what I do, for evil must be eradicated to save the lives of innocents. I know that I could be killed in battle by the terrorists as it is a natural consequence of war. What I don’t expect is my life to be sacrificed for politics even though throughout history, politics is the basis of all military wars.
Still, I don’t believe my government would deliberately allow an attack on my position from outside the immediate battle space if they had the means to repel the attack. Those sailors and Russian Marines on our warships in the Mediterranean Sea would not stand idle when they could prevent cruise missiles from raining hell down upon me and my fellow soldiers. The same goes for Russian airmen flying our interceptors to harass and deter the U.S. B-1 bombers flying from their Qatar airbase and threaten them with destruction if they launch cruise missiles on my position.
My president would do that for me. He wouldn’t abandon me; would he?
Yes I don’t know any Russian soldiers, but what difference does that make? These are men who serve their country knowing they could die and hope to God their political leadership doesn’t use them as a pawn to further delay the inevitable conflict with the U.S. Every soldier wants the best odds for victory in battle and there is an expectation for continuity of support to achieve that goal all up and down the chain of command and across the branches of military service.
To suggest that Russian regular army or special ops personnel don’t consider they could be purposefully sacrificed by the political establishment is naive. Every soldier who can think and reason knows their duty and will execute any reasonable order given but they may have doubts the civilian leadership has another agenda that countervails the military objective. It is only human to think that and Russians are no different. That was the point of my narrative.
Russia is a martial society historically. Medals mean much. Statues mean much. Historical events in war mean much. There is no other society that is so military-linked.
Russians go to war and expect to die. They fight to the death. And they know that behind them, the civilians have a long history of fighting to the death also.
Don’t compare Russians with anyone else. There are no equivalents.
The pilot who was surrounded, out of ammo, pulled the pin on his last grenade, Filipov:
“This is from our guys.”
Larchmonter445 (who I respect), you also missed the point of my post like Auslander did (who I also respect). Russian soldiers have fears and bleed like everyone else despite both of you giving lofty praise of their military prowess.
What will the Russian government do if the U.S.-NATO initiates a cruise missile attack into Idlib province from the Mediterranean Sea or the Persian Gulf or from B-1 bombers flying in from Qatar while Russian military personnel are on the ground alongside the SAA fighting the last terrorist stronghold in Syria?
Should those brave men be killed, will President Putin order the destruction of those launch platforms or will he capitulate and sacrifice his combat infantry without retribution? If the president decides not to retaliate with lethal force for whatever reason (backdoor political negotiations with Washington, DC, fear of escalation, doubts about a victorious outcome, etc.), then what was the point of moving Russian naval assets into the region but for bellow and bluster?
However history phrases this pending event (“cross the Russian red line”), it will be the defining moment in Syria’s survival and Russia’s economic future in the region. The unfavorable outcome of this confrontation could spill over into Donbass and perhaps Crimea too. The U.S. must not be allowed to continue to batter other sovereign nations into submission unchallenged,
Let us pray (I certainly have candles lit) the U.S. backs down and they leave Syria completely by their own volition without any more dead Syrian or Russian soldiers. If they don’t, they must be engaged without reservation and defeated. It has to be a Hobson’s choice and Russia must prevail.
Last time around, Russia made it very clear that no Russian personnel should be attacked. That was when they made the threat to not only shoot down the missiles, but to return fire at the launchers.
As far as I’ve heard, that statement has never been withdrawn nor amended. Although, since the Americans sometimes seem a bit dense and hard of hearing, it might be worthwhile for the Russian government to remind the Americans again.

The mysterious “disappearance” of my Asia Times column – titled “’Resistance’ runs amok in the US Deep Throat War” – has led me to some more juicy back-and-forth with my own Deep Throats in the Beltway.
The column is languishing in some digital black hole but seems to be found when people enter the title above.
And that brings us back to Trump – and Russia.
Detente with Russia: that is the main reason that Clapper and Brennan are after Trump and why Brennan called him a traitor. For all his cosmic inconsistencies, Trump is right that US intel is behind the “anonymous” NYT Op-Ed.
Some of my own Deep Throats in the Beltway are relieving the time when Nixon acknowledged his – innate? – cowardice as he exited the White House. Nixon famously told a friend that, “I am getting out while the getting is good and I have no intention of ending as Jack.” He was referring to Jack Kennedy – who was killed essentially over detente with the then USSR.
And one of the Deep Throats – an insider who, let’s say, “saw the light” – has come up with the classiest of quotes:
“They have Trump on nothing – and what was Watergate in comparison to 9-11, Pearl Harbor or the Gulf of Tonkin, just to name a few of our Operation Gladios?”
It is getting very very serious people, they are ready to start WWIII for Israel.
Big Putin mistake(having declared victory too early)and having transfered by bus terrorists from Alep and Ghouta with champagne, airco and caviar.
It was going to happen.Naivety or stupidity?Very poor strategy.A good terrorist is a dead terrorist.
Putin now must or surrender and loose all credibility or attack.
Weakness never pays back.PCR is right.
They will go untill the end to kill Assad at any price and if possible Putin as well(Dodon and Abkhazia PM got strange ”accidents” this week-end,one dead the other in hospital).
Western leaders can not lose face, they are losing election after election.
Terror attack tonight in Paris:
5 victims in a state of absolute urgency.
At least 7 people were injured in total. Five would be in a state of absolute urgency according to France Bleu. Firefighters are still there, as are the police.
Russia accuses the British of preparing a false flag chemical attack in Idleb, while the United States accuses Syria of preparing one. Excessive exchanges at the United Nations Security Council may give the impression that Western intervention is imminent.
In reality, the British can only accuse Syria if it deploys its army to Idleb, because chemical weapons can not be dispersed by air, but only by mortar shells. For the moment, Idleb’s ground attack is being prepared by Russian bombing targeted at al-Qaida installations. Nothing more.
If the Idleb attack began before November 6, 2018, date of the US House of Representatives elections and one-third of the Senate, Syria would put itself in danger. It would then be enough for the British to carry out their operation under false flag to force President Trump to intervene urgently, that is to say without having time to check the imputations of London. Otherwise, Donald Trump would risk losing the mid-term elections and being impeached by the new Congress (impeachment).
A US attack would be extremely lethal, unlike previous staging.
It is therefore safer for Syria to wait for these elections to free Idleb.
The spectacular reversal of Sheikh Hassan Rohani
Voltaire Network | September 9, 2018
During his election campaign, Iranian President Sheikh Hassan Rohani pledged to stop supporting Syria. Indeed, since the beginning of his mandate in August 2013, he has refrained from sending members of his government to Syria and has left the post of ambassador in Damascus for almost two years.
Iran’s support for Syria has been exclusively through the Guide of the Revolution, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who regularly sent his aides to Damascus, and by the Revolutionary Guards, who advise the Syrian Arab Army.
However, on November 5, 2018 US sanctions against the Iranian banking and oil sectors will come into effect. All Hassan Rohani’s alliance policy with the Obama administration will be swept away. Noting President Trump’s refusal of any compromise and the European inability to act, Sheikh Hassan Rohani resigned himself to changing politics.
Within a few days, several high-ranking officials of the Iranian government went to Damascus to support the Republic, including Defense Minister General Amir Hatami on August 26 and Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif on Monday. September 3rd.
Now, the two branches of Iranian power support Damascus.
Zionists wet dream is approaching, this why they want Pence in charge asap.
Idlib, Syria isn’t the prophecy location of Meggido, Israel but it is close enough to have the “big one”! Just like WWI this could be the start to the beginning of the END! For those that know the reference good. For those that don’t then please ask someone to ‘splain it to you!
For what it’s worth, the equivalent of Megiddo/Armageddon in Islamic eschatology is a place called Dabiq, which is in fact in Syria, albeit outside of Idlib (though not by much).
If it’s true that the Americans have moved out their aircraft carrier strike groups from the mediterranean (see anonymous comment above) and if it’s true that they just bombed Syria with white phosphorus (comment from veritas with Sputnik news link), then where did the planes take off from ? A military base in Iraq??
It will begin when the Russian general in charge of Syrian Operations says so.
In essence, it has begun, as Russian and Syrian planes have made strikes in the Province.
Likely, special forces have begun some of their special decapitation of leadership of the dozens of groups.
There is still much internecine combat among the crazies.
It may be at the end of this week when things launch all over Idlib.
It is an Operation which has its own Timeline that won’t be interrupted except in the most dire geopolitical circumstance where Putin will delay it. Otherwise, it will roll on as planned.
Everything has been decided. Village by village, town by town, city by city, the largest Operation of the war will unfold.

The US has bombed a town in Deir-ez Zor with white phosphorous today……war criminals with no conscience they are so psychopathic they can’t see how ridiculous their cries about “chemical weapons” in Idlib truly are:
https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/201809091067881861-us-strikes-deir-ez-zor-phosphorous-incendiary-weapons/
Glad the Russian MOD has called them out – but whose listening…..they crave war.
Imagine this …
I am a loyal Russian soldier with special military operations training on the ground in Idlib province.
“My president would do that for me. He wouldn’t abandon me; would he?”
Nice try, PokeTheTruth, but you obviously don’t know any serving Russian soldiers.
Auslander
Your sarcasm is noted.
Russians are different.
“Work Brothers”
Russia is a martial society historically. Medals mean much. Statues mean much. Historical events in war mean much. There is no other society that is so military-linked.
Russians go to war and expect to die. They fight to the death. And they know that behind them, the civilians have a long history of fighting to the death also.
Don’t compare Russians with anyone else. There are no equivalents.

This is going to get WAY nastier.

BREAKING:
And now Germany(once again, they will never change),wants to attack Syria though Russia indirectly.
Germany May Join Possible Western Airstrikes on Syria – Reports
The paper pointed out that a possible decision in this sense would be “historic”.
“Germany would thus risk for the first time to enter into direct confrontation with the ally of Syria, Russia,” he noted.

5 victims in a state of absolute urgency.
At least 7 people were injured in total. Five would be in a state of absolute urgency according to France Bleu. Firefighters are still there, as are the police.

Thanks to Macron and Merkel(another person killed by Merkel migrant in Germany today).
But they prefer to help Al Qaeda and co in Idlib of course to serve their real master ‘Bibi’.
Breaking:
Syria should wait until November 6 to free Idleb.

For what it’s worth, the equivalent of Megiddo/Armageddon in Islamic eschatology is a place called Dabiq, which is in fact in Syria, albeit outside of Idlib (though not by much).
from consortium news comments
If it’s true that the Americans have moved out their aircraft carrier strike groups from the mediterranean (see anonymous comment above) and if it’s true that they just bombed Syria with white phosphorus (comment from veritas with Sputnik news link), then where did the planes take off from ? A military base in Iraq??
I am confused about the Idlib offensive. Turkey wants it delayed. Iran wants it to start asap. So what’s happening with this now?
The Russian military are the best in the world at Operational Warfare.
