In return, the Israeli government promised to lobby and support Harmon to be chair of the House Intelligence committee. In one of the few things that Nancy Pelosi has gotten right, she refused as Speaker to give Harmon that post she wanted.

My sympathies to all who held out some hope. I learned the hard way that as a rule of thumb, anyone in the mid to upper level of the U.S. Gov. are well screen for any shred of decency before being considered for office.
Tillerson was CEO of Exxon/Mobile. Behind the scenes, Exxon/Mobile and other oil companies have always been deeply involved in US foreign policy.
One example involves Exxon/Mobile (during the time when I believe Tillerson was chairman at Exxon) and bombing of ISIS in Iraq by Obama.
One morning, I woke up and there was an item in the news that both Exxon/Mobile and Chevron were shutting down operations at facilities in Iraq and ordering the evacuation of their employees. The reason was that the convoys of new, white ISIS Toyota pickup trucks were approaching. This news release was put out early in the morning of that day.
By 10am, Obama was meeting in the White House situation room. The WH later released a photo of a concerned Obama with a clock behind him reading about 10am.
By lunch-time, the White House was announcing the beginning of the pseudo-bombing campaign against ISIS.
Thus, it was pretty clear who was calling the shots. Exxon, probably Tillerson or perhaps someone he delegated the job to had called the White House to complain that the company was losing production and money and some facilities to the ISIS advance in Iraq. Obama quickly jumped to the job and was in the Situation Room by 10 am formulating a response, which was then announced.
So, basically, Exxon/Mobile and Chevron called for a war against ISIS and by noon we were at war against ISIS.
Of course, the bombing campaign was more for show than anything real. A few pinprick strikes here and there against what we were told was ISIS targets. But never anything like the Shock and Awe launched against Iraq a few years before.
But the relevant part to this discussion of this story is that Tillerson at Exxon had at least considerable influence on US foreign policy. Enough to order up a war when Exxon’s facilities were threatened.
Tillerson was never an outsider who was going to massively change anything. At best it was hoped that his earlier negotiations with the Russians might lead to some sanity on that front. But the Deep State clearly won that fight and sanity was not for long on the table.
Now, if Trump had named someone like Rep. Ron Paul (TX) as Sec of State, then that would have been a sign that change was in the cards. But elevating the head of Exxon from a background player who can order up a war to a more front position as public spokesperson never signaled any real change.

What the US hates the most is successful defiance by any other country. They say Russia is everywhere in Europe. Yet they are unable to get any positive step towards them. The fact of the matter is EU is firmly under the control of US. They are almost like obedient dogs. On the other hand, US and EU, ripped Ukraine’s fabric apart, successfully mounted installing hostile regimes in the Russian border. Think, Ukraine, a region which existed in Russian history and culture for as long as one can remember. US and its lapdogs were successful in turning most of these countries against Russia. The methods they used has been promoting rabidly anti-Russian, neo-nazi gangs as freedom loving, peaceful citizens just trying to make a better lives for them by escaping the subjugating tentacles of Russia and moving into the comforting arms of the EU. Given all this, Russia managed to stand up for itself. The only way to defeat these bastards is to develop Russia into a strong sovereign nation where its people believe in themselves. And this must be achieved without the need of any ‘generosity’ rrom the self-proclaimed ‘Masters of the universe’.
I live in Germany. I spoke to my German colleague about Nord stream 2 when the US sanctions were made which will impact EU companies. He and most others I met here have a strong anti-Russian bias (they also don’t like US but they are okay with it). Anyway, there was some protest in German media about these sanctions. My colleague saying that ‘we want that pipeline and it will be built’. I told him to wait and see and almost surely, it won’t be built. At that time, I do not expect any reaction my colleague though. They are very well used being (Removed for language,MOD) by their Master. Probably, they will cheer it as defending democracy!
Russia has no choice but to succeed in this climate. The right partners are in Asia, which very well knows the dealing of Western countries which once colonized them and impoverished them. There is no such anti-Russian bias there, rather Russia is seen more positively. These nations are rising and displacing their old masters. I think, the next 10-20 years will be critical for Russia. During this time, it must tolerate the unfair treatment it gets from the EU to optimize its strategy, and must survive sabotage attempts and integrate with the eastern economic giants. Some would argue that the Germans saved Europe by invading the Soviet Union and that the reason for Barbarossa was an imminent invasion of Europe by Stalin.

In 2009, I wished that someone would have made a video of morphing between SOS Condi Rice and SOS Hillary Clinton talking. The point being that they were saying exactly the same things. Policy had not changed a bit, only the hair style.
Now one could make the same video starting with SOS Condi Rice then morphing through to Hillary Clinton then morphing to SOS John Kerry and now morphing to SOS Rex Tillerson and back again. Again, the point being that the words spoken do not change a bit no matter which set of lips are moving. The hair style has changed from John Kerry’s wavy hair look to Rex Tillerson basing his hairstyle apparently on old Soviet leaders, but that’s about all that’s changed.
I said a decade ago that America had just seen the most successful anti-war movement in American history. It had gone from some 15% with enough character to say they opposed Bush I’s Gulf War, to convinceing 60% or so of the American people to oppose America’s wars. That’s generally where the polls are between crisis. A propaganda blitz during a crisis can move the numbers towards 50% favoring a particular war, but usually only temporarily. The politicians have certainly noticed, as the last two Presidents were both elected by presenting themselves as being against the wars and desiring change.
The problem is that public opinion no longer counts in the United States. Political scientists have studied the system and declared it to be an oligarchy, which means that only those with lots of money have a voice that can influence decisions. What America really needs now is a Democracy Movement. Only after the success of such will the voice of the American people calling for an end to these wars truly be heard.
If you want change in America, then the struggle is to first bring democracy back to America.
And it has to start at the lower levels of government first. We’ve just seen what happens when a Lone Wolf Presidential candidate actually wins, then is faced by a combination of the anti-democratic forces in the Deep State and the Media and with only slim support in Congress. Work to elect the majority in Congress first, then elect the President for real change and real hope. Even then, it will still be a tough fight against the Deep State/Media pro-war Alliance. But at least then you might have a chance of winning.
In the Color Revolutions, an Anti-Corruption stance by the CIA color of the week usually seems to work. Since America is perhaps the most corrupt nation on Earth, that might be a lever to try to use in a true Democracy Movement?
Don’t you just love the phrase “our commitment to Europe?” In other words our commitment to ensure their vassalage to us.

My guess is the change over will happen after the start of 2018. Tillerson was reluctant to take the job and I’d bet he agreed to a 1 year stint only. He seems to have mainly been hired to gut the state department and turn it into a zionazi rubber stamp bureaucracy. The israelis apparently don’t need their pindo colonial’s engaging diplomacy any more. If one looks at american diplomacy this last year, it is pathetic. Mainly pr sound bites and threats. With the sort of planned changes, pompeo and cotton, one can see that diplomacy is being abandoned.
This means what we all expected a clinton regime would do is being done by the trump regime.

The US policy of ramping up sanctions on North Korea to force them to roll back the missile and nuclear programs is not working, according to Lavrov. The potential for the pressure “has essentially exhausted itself” he said, adding that Washington should stop ignoring the calls from other countries, including Russia, which ask it to open direct negotiations with Pyongyang.”

Yes, it is easy to get carried away with the superficial and the theatrics and hopeful noises.
I wish The Saker would apply his excellent analytical skills to the actual actions of the US- in Africa, corralling their European vassals, North Korea etc. and how it will affect what is building up to be a big war.
I am guessing a time will soon come when all countries of the world will have to decide which side they wish to back. How the lineup goes will largely determine what happens and how it will end.
