Message from SouthFront:
Unfortunately, I want to ask you to help SF one more time. Our team has been continuing to balance on the razor’s edge while continuation of production of exclusive video and graphics products including as big as Foreign Policy Diaries drains our resources. We’ve got $344,69 since August 25. As a result, we cannot to make ends meet: our bills are unpaid and have already spent a lot to the SF main team members’ money. So, we’ve faced a hard decision what to do: to close the project and stop to produce videos or try appeal for a help explaining the situation. We don’t expect to get a budget as a “mainstream” think-tank (tens of thousands of dollars), but we hope to get at least a chance to continue our work.
Message from the Saker:
I think that SouthFront has offered us an absolutely fantastic and, I would add, unique type of information: videos with both a summary of events and analysis. If you check my “war news” section it is something like 99.99% SouthFront and I think that our community ought to help them.
Guys – all it takes is a few clicks with PayPal, Western Union, a bank wire or even with BitCoins!
Please see their donations page: http://southfront.org/donate/
Finally, please remember that SouthFront never charged for any of their services, they have never harassed us with obnoxious advertisements or pop-ups, and they are not hiding their best documents behind a pay wall. All they do is count on our gratitude and support.
It is easy, quick and you can make a huge difference.
Please help!
The Saker
Sunday 13 September was election day in Russia.
Earlier this year there were prolific reports the the ‘leader of the opposition’* Navalny (a US stooge) was barred from standing in the elections [the work of the evil Putin no doubt] (see later). Various protests have produced very limited support for these ‘liberal opposition’ figures. They appear to have grouped together under a label ‘Parnus’ with the hope of gaining one seat in one locality. The Parnas party seems to have Navalny and Khodokovsky as their presumed future leaders. [Khodokovsky!? – They might as well just list Nuland and cease the pretence]
http://www.themoscowtimes.com/news/article/parnas-party-envisions-navalny-khodorkovsky-as-future-leaders/525082.html
Recently, Navalny was spotted in a restaurant with a group of supporters and a group of US Embassy officials in the adjoining table (oooops!).
https://z5h64q92x9.net/proxy_u/ru-en.en/antimaidan.ru/article/2644
Anyway, come election time Parnus appears to have given it their best shot – and have gained less than 5% of the vote. A report on the pending election has an amusing opening:
“A local branch of the national television network Rossiya-1 has broadcast a live political debate featuring opposition leader Alexey Navalny, who was previously thought to be informally barred from appearing on Russian state TV. ” [thought to be informally banned – snicker!]
https://meduza.io/en/news/2015/09/07/russian-state-tv-airs-live-political-debate-featuring-alexey-navalny-the-leader-of-the-anti-putin-opposition
Will the Western media claim Navalny’s supporters were suppressed by the evil Putin? Will there be silence, pretending the election never happened? Will the west claim the election didn’t meet western standard? Stay tuned for the next exciting episode ….
* The actual opposition is the communist groupings. Navalny et al are nowhere.
The Russians are saying PARNUS got around 2-2.5% of the vote. The winning parties that got over the 5% minimum required for getting into the parliament are the centre-right” United Russia” party, leftist “Fair Russia” party, populist “LDPR” party and the “Communist ” party. So you have, a right,a middle right,a middle left, and the left, parties winning seats. No “cheddar” for neo-nazi and pro-West parties in Russia. And you are right, the PARNUS people are shouting “we was robbed”.They would have needed “massive” fraud to have turned winning numbers into 2.0%.And the voters would have noticed that kind of fraud.Especially when all opinion polls show 5th column support in the 3-4% range (and that includes Moscow and Piter.Smaller places like Kostroma,it would be even less).

9:00 “As Iran most likely has nuclear weapons …”
WTF? The Imam has released a fatwah against them.
I caught a number of questionable assertions (especially that one) in this video, though they went by so quickly that it’s difficult to remember them.
Causes me to question the reliability of information from this source.
Thank you for the comment. Our goal is to provide a non-biased and independent analysis. So, yes, we think: “Iran most likely has nuclear weapons …”. If some state provides policy as it has nuclear weapons, it likely has it. In an aggressive environment as the situation in the Middle East, it’s a chance that Iran approved a deal after he got the weapons to defend itself. However, we use a word “likely” to emphasize that it isn’t 100%.
P.S.
– Israel officially denies that it has nuclear weapons
– Washington argues that its aim is only to fight “terrorists” in the Middle East
– Saudi Arabia argues that support “democratically elected president in Yemen”
– Ukraine argue that it follows Minsk
etc etc etc
Kind regards,

Wow! After announcing the saker will be taking a rest comes this amazing outpouring of work. If rest is like this I wonder what work will be. I’m taking the day off to keep up. I checked South Front donation page but don’t see a snail mail send a check or cash option so I’ll pass. My intention is to snail a hundred bucks to the saker before he keels over from exhaustion. To tell the truth all this raw war stuff is getting exhausting and boring. At least in the vineyard I get some humanitarian relief and refuge. I’m working too but like Dylan says: “…workin’ like the devil; the game is the same, it’s just up on another level.” I work at thelovegovernment.com. I don’t get paid and there are no benefits except ones from that other level. I guess there’s no rest for the wicked and the good don’t need it. That puts the good and the wicked in the same category which illustrates my belief that it’s all love, fine-spun and twisted. Cheers and tears. Send holy water to cheer me up and wash away my fears.

Hi. Thanks for responding. I don’t think I made myself clear. I avoid these modern money changing devices like Jesus did the moneychangers. They give me the creeps. If you have a real person somewhere in the States that you trust I can send a check to him or her and he or she can deal with the machine to get the money to you. Sorry, but I just can’t deal with it. You can access my email address at the bottom of thelovegovernment.com front page. Thanks for taking on a tough job and demonstrating tough love.
I’m sure that you can send it to TheSaker with a comment “to SouthFront”.
Kind regards,
SouthFront Team
Will do today. A hundred dollar bill to you and also to Saker. My privilege to keep the karma clear. You both are giving me a remedial education worth many times more. I’ll do more if needed but need to lean into these things slowly and feel which way the winds blows. Ann below is probably correct but money has a hold on me or is it the other way around. I suppose if I were a millionaire I’d have the same problem. Jesus was right about the widow’s mite. If I were a millionaire, would I give you 10K? That’s about where I am. The way it’s going, money may be going anyway so give while the givings good. My heart is cracking and money is a part of it. I’m a 75 year old retiree living on social security and civil service here in the US. I bash the government all the time but where would I be without it? I’d be back on the street and probably dead. Damn, life is complicated; drives an absolutist like me crazy.
To tie this up for the record: I put an envelope with two one hundred dollar bills in it for you and Saker in the country mailbox for the mailperson to pick up tomorrow. If you don’t get it in a reasonable time I left a trail and how to access my email above so you can contact me and I’ll try again. Seems like much ado about nothing but every widow’s mite counts.
Dennis, your ability to take a day off seems to me to be opportunity to help South Front. They are friends of Saker and Saker community…cm’on buddy, dig deep in your pockets for friends.
re: State Dept. accuses Russia of building a “forward base” in Syria in Latakia. in a BBC article recently posted with more bogus claims. Actually the first half of this article has new charges and is grafted onto an article posted by the BBC two days ago which verbatim makes up the 2nd half of the article. They can not even rouse themselves to be creative when they do a phony hack job.

Is this a set up for the Israelis to bomb weapons-containing wearhouses like they did in 2013?
@ teranam13,
Q; Is this a set up for the Israelis to bomb weapons-containing wearhouses like they did in 2013?
R; Those ‘happy days’ are over.
The Apartheid State loves to shoot guppies in a barrel, not being held accountable for it. Russia, through it’s military presence, will neutralize this slanted situation once and for all.
Teranam13,
Hi. Latakia has an actual port rather than just a couple of floating docks like Tartus. Also a dual use civilian/military airport & it appears one runway has been extended. I guess when the Russians use it, at Syria’s invitation, it could be called a “forward base”. So how many does the US have? About a thousand? I guess the Russians are maintaining a presence at Tartus, too– to cover the coast
Somehow I doubt Latakia is w/o serious air defenses, don’t you? Btw, the first set of naval drills off the coast are going on thru the 17th. I don’t know how many vessels tho, do you?

re: Debkafile : warning this is from a Mossad site so it is full of self serving misinformation:
nonetheless: ( it is important what they are not saying as well as how they say it)
US sources: Russia deploys tanks at Latakia airfield
DEBKAfile September 14, 2015, 9:06 PM (IDT)
Russia has posted at least seven heavy T-90 tanks and an artillery unit around the Syrian airbase near Latakia which is home to incoming Russian forces, say US sources with access to intelligence. DEBKAfile earlier named the airbase as Jablah and reported landings there of giant Antonov-24 transport planes (Condors) loaded with military supplies. US sources also confirmed our report of Sept. 9 that the Russians are sending their military airlift to Syria through Iranian and Iraqi airspace, to beat Obama administration efforts to impede it by closing the skies fo NATO members.
South Front, please don’t go…I’ve donated…Love Ann

Week old news, but if true says Putin might actually have woken from his slumber the past 18 months.
https://glblgeopolitics.wordpress.com/2015/09/07/putin-issues-ultimatum-threatens-war-over-erdogans-support-of-isis/
Russian President Vladimir Putin in a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador issued a verbal ultimatum calling for an immediate end to Turkey’s support for ISIS and violations of Syria’s sovereignty. In doing to, Putin has drawn a red line over Syria, after weeks of escalating NATO moves against that beleaguered nation.
In a startling move, Russian President Vladimir Putin castigated Turkish President Recep Erdogan, calling him a “dictator” and threatening to sever diplomatic ties with Turkey over what Putin claims is Erdogan’s continued support of the ISIS terror organization.
It is believed that this is in response to Erdogan’s claim, pasted across the western press yesterday, that Putin had told him Russia was no longer going to support Syria in their war against al Qaeda, ISIS and their western backed sister organizations.
http://www.voltairenet.org/article188710.html
“Meeting in Dushanbe (Tadjikistan) on the 15th September 2015, the heads of the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO) strongly denounced terrorism in Iraq and Syria, particularly that of the phoney Islamic Emirate (« Daesh »).
The heads of the member states of the CSTO stated that their organisation could now deploy under the auspices of the UNO, in the same way as NATO. They agreed to coordinate their interventions at the UNO General Assembly at the end of September, with the aim of creating a global Coalition against terrorism.
The CSTO includes Russia, Belarus, Arménia, Kazakhstan, Kirghizistan, and Tadjikistan. Russia is to preside over the UN Security Council during the month of September 2015.
In June 2012, during the Geneva Conference, President Putin had considered deploying the CSTO in Syria, but France restarted the war before the Organisation was ready.”
