Dear friends,
I invite you to go to the (temporary) Saker Podcast page:
https://sites.google.com/site/sakerpodcast/home
where you download the transcripts of the first two podcasts and then to the Fourth Saker Podcast page:
https://sites.google.com/site/sakerpodcast/home/saker-podcast-4
where you can download the fourth and last Saker podcast of the year. I will record the next podcast sometime after the Orthodox Nativity (January 7th). This is also the planned time for the launching of the “2nd new blog” about which I will post all the details before that date.
Please let me know if you want any specific changes in the podcasts next year: shall we continue with the Q&A? Do you like the format? Any specific desires or complaints? If yes, please let me know.
Finally, if you appreciate these podcasts please remember to donate, especially in this end of year (i.e. “bills paying”) time of the year.
Many thanks and kind regards,
The Saker
I enjoyed this podcast, and especially your views on Jews and the “Holocaust.”
This is also a good article along the same line:
Fascism in the 21st century.- The Seeds Of World War 3.

Thanks for the podcast.
You were asked about the fifth column and said that they weren’t breaking the law. Is that really the case? Khazin thought there was likely something to get Nabiullina on. Russia is seen as being quite corrupt, so is it really likely that the fifth column is clean?
Perhaps the big question is whether Putin will follow in the footsteps of Xi, who has had a big anti-corruption campaign. Any chance of this in Russia? It looks to me like Putin is way too comfortable with oligarchs, whether as friends or partners in places like the Ukraine. Yet, corruption is one of the West’s big tools.
HI Saker ! I hope you have a great Christmas.
Saker: Are you going to have an article analyzing the whole Sony hacking hysteria?
This event seems like another American false flag provcation designed to blame North Korea for “cyber attacks,” which were launched by the USA itself.
Wayne Madsen states that The Interview itself has the fingerprints of the American spook-military establishment all over it.
Another interesting point made by Madsen is that actor Seth Rogen–who led the push to release the film under the guise of “free speech” and even aggressively advocated for the inclusion of a gory scene depicting the murder of Kim Jong Un–is a cheerleader for that bastion of human rights and freedom, the ISRAELI DEFENSE FORCES!

I missed a mentioning of the history of the Pale of Settlements when you discussed Jews in Russia. To me it looks rather relevant.
Thank you for the podcast.
I found your views on the holocaust (ok, you don’t like the word but it is very easy when you can use one word and everybody understands what you mean) rather confusing. I read some stuff about the subject myself and my conclusion was that it depends on what period you are looking at:
– initially the Nazi’s didn’t aim for extermination. Eichmann’s first assignment was in Austria and there over 90% of the Jews survived the war – because he forced them to emigrate.
– however, countries became increasingly reluctant to take up Jews and this became a problem.
– then you had the Nazi invasion into the Soviet Union. This was something with which Eichmann’s bureaucracy had nothing to do. Here you suddenly saw a whole new level of brutality in which public mass executions were normal. It is still not clear to me what caused this switch: was this due to German visions of Slavic “Untermenschen” or had it more to do with local tensions between Jews and other ethnic groups?
– anyway, Eichmann’s bureaucracy picked this up and decided at the Wannsee conference that they wanted a similar extermination program. However, Babi Jar style public executions would be unacceptable in “civilized” areas where a lot of Germans lived. And so we got the extermination camps for Western Jews.
hi saker,
thanks heaps, we really enjoyed your latest podcast, always a pleasure to be in your company,

Dear Saker
Greatly appreciated the Podcast as always. Thank you.
Some comments from the ol’ gals peanut gallery in Cape Town :
1. About so called, highly propagandised “Russian anti-Gay Laws”:
This white paper is by Brian M Heiss – an American GBLT Activist – who looked to take up the anti-Russia cudgel, but found that RUSSIA HAS NO ANTI GAY LAWS, and that the legal lot of American gays actually more ‘conservative’ / discriminatory.
Executive summary and full details in analysis and deconstruction ‘white paper’ here :
http://static.prisonplanet.com/p/images/february2014/white_paper.pdf
2. According to Heiss’ translation of the laws and analysis, Russia has child protection laws – with harshest conesequence for corporations.
A while back, I read an article about horrifying discovery that many of the Russian orphans imported by western agencies were passed into paedo rings … or worse cult circles.
The royal red carpets and other long, long coverup’s are no longer managing to keep the Anglo-Euro-Zio elite strata and church paedophile scandals out of even msm.
It seems to me that there are Sabbatean (a euphemism for Satanic?) type CULTS & clubs operating across the entire ‘Old White Boys Club’ – with qualification and control of the power elite by taboo guilt ..
and so I strongly suspect that is what Russian child protection laws are geared against – and why it was taken up as a western propaganda cudgel with such ferocity.
3. In the same genre of ‘not spoken about in polite society’ prevalent Sabbatean / satanic sacrificial type practices at seemingly epidemic proportions in the AngloZio world, please forgive me for introducing you to another dark rabbit hole possibility … to do with the ‘Holocaust’ THAT MOST CERTAINLY DID TAKE PLACE
3.1 e.g Archeological finds on Sobibór extermination camp …
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sobib%C3%B3r_extermination_camp
3.2 As much as I would like to reject what Australian Frank O’ Collins has to say in this extraordinary compendium of history – after checking out alot of what he writes about, it unfortunately resonates as holding at least some terrible, awful truth ….
– Himmler was Vaticans man … and it was the Catholic party that brought Hitler into power
– that many, many more than 6 million deliberate human sacrifices were made in the Holocaust … including untermensch Jews (not however the monied Serphadics), many Protestants, many Orthodox (Russians by the millions) non-Catholic Christians …
A dreadful rabbit hole to even contemplate – but worth scanning through all 8 sections I post the web site open at … for your own right to assess (and reject as you see fit) :
http://one-evil.org/content/acts_vatican_holocaust.html
4. If I could pose one question to Putin, it would be : What do you speak to the Pope about on your visits to the Vatican?
The Crimean operation, as word has it, has been accepted in the Pentagon and NATO as a brilliant piece of tactical planning, although, of course, most of the credit should go to the commanders of the naval base at Sevastopol and not the top brass in Moscow.
Russia could never have imagined that the West would go as far as sending its troops to Ukraine and other East European countries in a show of strength, openly toying with the idea of arming the Ukrainian army and militias and even looking at a possible scenario of the country joining NATO while imposing crippling economic and financial sanctions on Moscow that smack of the worst periods of the Cold War days.
The most important thing that so many people in the West overlook when it comes to the crisis in Ukraine (and Crimea ‘going AWOL’ and becoming part of Russia) is that the Kremlin was not initiating but rather responding to events there.
According to sources I spoke to in Moscow during my recent trip there, the situation in Crimea developed so quickly and unexpectedly for Moscow that it could only follow the scenario rather than dictate it.
“There was absolutely no way President Vladimir Putin could have distanced himself from the drive for independence in Crimea,” one government source told me.
“It would have been like playing the Russian roulette with all the bullets in the cylinder.”
He also told me that the crisis in eastern Ukraine was not exactly what Putin and his people had bargained for.
“It’s a huge headache for the Kremlin,” he said.
“There is no visible face-saving solution at the moment for Moscow and Kiev other than to sit it out and hope that something happens.”
(Incidentally, this Soviet baggage actually makes Russia very attractive for its eastern neighbours which have a sceptical view on the benefits of the free market and prefer to run their economies in a very Soviet way.)
As for Russia, it has been made clear by President Putin and other Russian officials on many occasions that Crimea is a ‘done deal’ and no one is going to discuss the matter further.
On the breakaway regions of Donetsk and Lugansk, Russia will continue to insist on their special autonomy within Ukraine and firm security guarantees from Kiev that they won’t be attacked.
Even if President Putin wanted to be flexible and give up his support of these two self-proclaimed republics, domestic opinion in Russia would not allow him to do it.
It’s one thing rallying his people to withstand the hardships of the Western sanctions and the falling rate of the Russian rouble; but it’s another matter altogether to announce that the ‘brothers and sisters in the east of Ukraine’ will have to sort out the mess all by themselves.
That would be, like my government source has already put it so eloquently, playing Russian roulette with the odds stacked firmly against you.

Merry Christmas all.

An earlier anonymous poster asked about whether an article might be forthcoming about the ‘Sony hacking hysteria’.
Things to note:
1) Sony historically has had poor security.
2)Duplicitous Sony execs should be in jail for their own hacking of clients computers and installation of a security hole riddled rootkit.
3) Sony is an arrogant organisation that used to have higher-priced long lasting products of excellence but which now seems to turns out cheap junk designed to fail as soon as the warranty runs out.
4) Empire, like musical chairs, regularly cycles through and trots out the country/people of the month to fear and villify. E.g. Syria, Palestinians, Iran, Russia, N.Korea are perennial favourites. Ukraine is, comparitively, a little quiet so now it is N.Korea’s turn again. Must keep the FUD factor lubricated.
5) Hackers the world over, love to hate Sony:
http://gizmodo.com/why-sony-keeps-getting-hacked-1667259233
Appreciated your well balanced views concerning WWII historical revisionism. Not only have the horrific Axis war crimes been (unnecessarily) embellished and propagandized, but the Allied crimes have been minimized (Dresden, the A bombs, rapes of German women by the Red Army) or buried altogether (Rhine Meadow Camps).
Also appreciated your nuanced discussion on gay rights in Russia. Prior to the 2003 US Supreme Court ruling in Lawrence v. Texas, it was illegal to be gay in most of the US (including Florida) – a legal situation worse than what Russian gays face today. Yet millions of US gays coped with their (de jure if not de facto) outlaw status very well. The moral high ground the western media has claimed on this issue is very recent indeed.
Thanks for the podcast. I agree with you about the death camps. Many died, but it is wise to leave the numbers to the historians. I am not one of them and I am not going to spend 2-3 decades learning several languages (including Polish, Romanian and Hungarian), studying old documents and reading what historians have written. Leave it to the experts.
I just want to remind everybody what was done to some prisoners. Mengele, or someone like him, wanted to know how long a human could survive in cold water. The experiment was carried out on Russian war prisoners. They died, but they survived much longer than expected. They knew what was happening and calmly told the guards they knew they would die, but also that Germany would lose the war.
In one camp, for reasons I dont know, some prisoners were to be punished with death by starvation. European Jehovas Witnesses in the camp asked permission to take the place of some of the doomed and they got what they wanted. The prisoners were put in a locked room and they all starved to death. FYI, the German authorities distrusted several Christian sects or churches.
Today, doctors know exactly how much air can be introduced into the blood stream before death occurs. What Mengele did was studied in the Western world.
About twenty years ago, I met an old Jewish woman, who had only one surviving old relative, a sister in Israel. She showed me her arm and I saw a number burnt in or tattoed. She was put on a bus when she was a child and was raised in an orphanage in another European country. Her German was excellent and before she died, she wanted to see Berlin, her city of birth, one more time, but she died before that happened. I read her diary.

A major benefit for the US side of provoking a major Russo-Ukrainian war is that the ensuing crisis would provide cover for taking out Assad and Hezbollah.
For this reason alone NATO may provoke such a war.
I also would not dismiss the nuclear false flag scenario. I believe that the US *will* use nuclear weapons somewhere in the world over the next 20 years or so (the period of critical US decline).
Some comments (I managed to listen and understand most things)
It seems like most Russians, if their English is good, speak with a certain type of accent~ (lol)
1. Some say anti-semitism is a artificial made word to prevent people from exposing Zionism.
“You are anti-semitic!” is enough to stop most people from thinking about Zionist “conspiracies”
I have to say it achieved its aims, which is why I hate this word and think it is best to say it as little as possible:D
2. I totally agree with the multipolar word and its necessity. My fellow Chinese might kill me over this (lol), but whilst we are initially, and by nature peaceful people who love win-win situations. We have ancient sayings like “take a step back and the world will be vast”, and “Do unto others what you want unto yourself” etc. 150 years of … suppression and “looting” has changed us, Strelkov in a way is right about China, some of us have a sad lack of values and highly materialism views, perhaps even a big minority, and others are highly aggressive with imperialist views… For example, many Chinese still remember the final agreement about border signed on 2009 and are angry about it, as well as outer Mongolia. (Whilst of course a majority understands)
3. I just read the Nationalization of the Ruble and now turned into a fan of Starikov (The book is so info-filled that it is better than my 5 month history lesson, and it only took 1 day!). Sadly all the other of his books are solely in Russian :'(
IMPORTANT: Kind Saker, is it possible for you to recommend some other books? :)
would like podcast broken up into smaller pieces. Am I the only one? Maybe. I find the length to be prohibitive.

But the Rand Corporation worked hand in hand with Sony on this movie, highly encouraging Sony to keep in the assassination scene.
Part 1.
In my years of European studies, especially Eastern Europe,I’ve ran across the WW2 events many times. And as you said the nazis did certainly commit genocide on Jews. Also on the Roma,Slavs and homosexuals.
In the early years they were, trying to get Jews to emigrate and were even aided by Zionists in that idea.In pre-war Europe there were two main Jewish movements. There were Jews (the largest group) that wanted assimilation in the countries they lived in.Ironically in Germany and Hungary they were most successful with that idea out of all the Central and Eastern European countries.Hence the many Jews that stayed loyal to Germany and refused to leave, most of whom the nazis ended up murdering. While in Hungary the Hungarian government called them “Magyars of the Mosaic Faith”.And accepted them,at least the numerous middle and upper class Jews. The problem for many of them. And Jews in Western Europe as well, was that near the end of the 19th and in the early 20th century, there was a huge immigration of Polish and Russian “Pale” Jews into those countries. They were traditional “Fiddler on the Roof” Jews.Poor mostly, some criminals,Yiddish speaking and very clannish people. They had a similar reputation that Latin American immigrants have in the US,or Muslim immigrants in Europe today. They were thought to be overrunning society, taking jobs. The local Jews used to hate them as much as gentiles did. There was great tension in Jewish communities over them. The nazis tarred all Jews with that image in propaganda to the German Christians.
But along with the Jews wanting assimilation, it was also the time of the rise of Zionism in Europe. And a lot of Jews fell for Zionist propaganda. That was probably a bigger divide in the Jewish communities than even the immigrant Jews. The two groups, assimilationists and Zionists hated each other. And worked to get as many Jews to support their sides as possible. The rise of the nazis,at first was a godsend to the Zionists. That scared a lot of Jews into Zionism. So the Zionists were willing to help the nazis in forcing the Jews out of Germany and all Europe. But when the Zionists refused Madagascar as a Jewish homeland. And with the Arab protests, and the economic slowdown in the World, the British reduced and temporarily halted immigration to Palestine. The nazis changed their minds on what they wanted for the “final solution to the Jewish problem” in Europe. And once the Zionists realized what that really meant, they stopped working with the nazis.Hitler was such a fanatic about the Jews that he blamed them for Britain’s and the US’s standing up to him and for the War.And he said if the Jews “forced” him to war they wouldn’t survive the war.
Unlike the other areas the nazis had taken over. When they invaded Poland and later the USSR,they can across millions of Jews that fit the stereotype their propaganda had made of all Jews. And from the start there, they started to kill.As the war raged on they complained that shooting was too slow and very bloody. And affected their men “having” to personally slaughter women and children. That was when they resurrected the program on a larger scale, that they had used in Germany earlier, to kill the mentally ill, handicapped and old people in nursing homes.I think it was around 1942-43,that the gas chambers started to operate.
Uncle Bob
Part 2.
In Germany cremation was a widely used method for persons after death. In the US its not as widespread even today. And in those days it was rarely used. But in Europe,or at least Germany,it wasn’t that unusual then.So the nazis using crematoriums wasn’t some plot that it sometimes seems. But just a simple (though of course horrible) method of body disposal. Its estimated that in Eastern Europe mostly Poland and the USSR they murdered close to 2 million before the gas chambers opened. From the numbers of pre-war and post-war Jewish numbers I’ve seen there is around a 5 million person difference. Now what happened to those people. What the breakdown on,as you said, those who died of starvation, died of disease, were murdered by shooting, gas chamber,or died in the regular war violence,or simply were lucky enough to escape Europe, I don’t know.
The nazi plan was certainly to murder all the Jews they could. And if successful to do the same to the Slavs of Europe after the war was won by them.In probably the worse example they murdered around six million people in Poland during the war.Three million Jews, but also three million non-Jewish Poles. They made lists of Poles (and Czechs as well),that had some German blood in their backgrounds. And tried to get them to claim they were Germans. They also tried, by looking, to recognize people as “German” and assimilate them as “Aryans”.Everyone else was fated to slavery until they died or they killed them as un-needed “untermenschen”.I know of at least one case(I figure there are others as well) where a Pole with German blood was murdered because he refused the “honor” of saying he wasn’t Polish and claiming German nationality instead. They were an evil bunch. And their ideological twins in Ukraine I doubt are much better. They are starting out worse than the nazis acted in their early years. So that is not a positive sign unless they are stopped before they are able to get worse.
Uncle Bob
To laura Roslin
Hi Laura go and read the transcipts…they’re available.
Hi Laura Roslin again, Yes, that makes alot of sense…I’ve been thinking too that Sony is now releasing this movie that will become a blockbuster in whatever form…dvd or whatever now with all the hype….
The reason for the push for Gay marriage is based on the huge legal disadvantage gay couples suffer compared to heterosexual couples (depending on legal jurisdiction and local laws).
This includes pensions, death benefits, superannuation and so on. Even something like (here is Australia) carer benefits (for looking after a sick relative).
Then there is probate. Even with a will, relatives can and do challenge the gay partners rights to the estate.
So there is a sensible, legally based push for gay couples to have the same rights as other couples. Nothing very hard about.
Some countries have tried ‘civil partnerships’, but marriage rights go right through all sorts of legislation (pensions,. welfare, probate, etc, etc, etc).
To change all those hundreds (thousands) or laws and regulations is basically impossible. So the simplest way to to recognise gay marriage.
All the right wing and religious nut jobs all jump up and down…but they just want to kill us all anyway.
Chinese naval base to be established on Nambia’s Walvis Bay
Walvis Bay will be one of 18 naval bases that will be established in various regions: Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Mynanmar in the northern Indian Ocean; Djibouti, Yemen, Oman, Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique in the western Indian Ocean; and Seychelles and Madagascar in the central South Indian Ocean. Other naval bases are: Chongjin Port (North Korea), Moresby Port (Papua New Guinea), Sihanoukville Port (Cambodia), Koh Lanta Port (Thailand) Sittwe Port (Myanmar), Dhaka Port (Bangladesh), Gwadar Port (Pakistan), Hambantota Port (Sri Lanka), Maldives, Seychelles, Djibouti Port (Djibouti),
Lagos Port (Nigeria), Mombasa Port (Kenya), Dar es Salaam Port (Tanzania) and Luanda Port (Angola).
India’s own string of pearls: Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Seychelles and Maldives
For decades India has been the de facto security guarantor of these island states. In the 1980s, India intervened or threatened intervention in Mauritius (1983), the Seychelles (1986), the Maldives (1988) and Sri Lanka (1987-1990) to prevent attempted coups or to address civil strife. India also played a significant, if largely undisclosed, role in ending the Sri Lankan civil war and the destruction of the Tamil Tigers in 2009.
Since the 1980s, India has slowly developed a role as a maritime security provider to these states. This has included provision of patrol boats, helicopters, training, senior military secondments and hydrographic services to the Sri Lankan, Maldives , Mauritius and Seychelles navies or coast guards.

2015 geopolitics, captured in a single picture:
https://deepresource.wordpress.com/2014/12/26/2015-geopolitics-in-a-single-picture/
Happy 2015!
Kind regards,
Dutch
Very interesting as usual. I would just strongly advise you to read Krugman instead of Zerohedge for economics analysis. He does not deal at all on geopolitical issues and can be a little repetitive sometimes, but he makes much better sense of what’s going on the economy. Just take his advice with a grain of salt due to the geopolitical considerations he left out of the picture!
In fact Paul krugman has recently joined the anti Putin bandwagon. You can find his ludicrous claims on Russia Insider.
In more general terms, he rehashes some tired and old pseudo keynesian truisms that are wide off the mark.
Zerohedge.com, is deep into the doom and gloom business and tend to be bearish in relation to most if not all economies and markets on the planet. They may not be very far from the truth mind you. We will have to wait and see.
But what I find invaluable about zerohedge.com is that they provide precise charts and statistics for just about all economic metrics you could possibly ask for. Both long term and short term. From gold prices and supplies, to oil, copper, stockmarkets, currencies, the economy of Japan, Russia, Ukraine, interest rates, bonds of all kinds, debt etc etc etc.
Okay! There were NO GAS CHAMBERS to kill massive amount of people in Nazi Germany. They had some mobile machines which was used to kill people in small numbers but it was inefficient and was not widely used. No one has ever found a gas chamber used to kill large number of people, they have only shown rooms used to disinfect cloths.
Some of the claims about nazi’s dragging bodies out of rooms after gassing them are pure fiction! Have you bombed cockroaches? Have you tried to enter the room a day after you bomb it? Those nazi’s would surely have died themselves if they had tried to go into the room. Not only that but the gas used was heavier than air and it would have leaked out and killed all the nazi guards and officers standing around trying to keep people inside the room. People talk about sending people to the room to be gassed every hour like the gas magically disappears!
Has anyone started their diesel truck besides their bedroom window and tried to sleep? Or their bike. They even built a room after the war and now try to pass it off as a Nazi gas chamber. If total extermination was the key why were the nazi’s trying to move their wards out of the camps into Germany when the soviets were overrunning the camps? In many cases the guards even stayed in the camps and surrendered. It was only later when rumors got around about extermination camps that the guards abandoned the camps and ran away.
We also have some reports of massive numbers of people exterminated and then burnt in ditches and then buried.. But they have not found any million graves. Even the camps which were “maybe” pilot projects for mass extermination does not seem to have any mass graves that killed millions. Unlike regular camps where millions did die and records were kept. How come no records exist for such large numbers of people disappearing. While there are records of large number of people dying. Why were people volunteering to work in these camps from all over Europe?
Soviet prisoners were used in mines and those were equivalent to mass extermination camps by their death rates but no one calls them extermination mines. Even if chances of staying alive were less than 10%.. far less than the so called death camps. Lets also not forget, while people in most minorities were reduced to a far lower number at the end of WW2, the number of jews left in europe were unchanged from 1935 to 1945.. You would think with mass migration and extermination and war that number would reflect the demographics of the rest of the population. IE Poland lost 25% of its population some other countries that level reached 30-50%..
Did places in the Balkans that lost close to 50% of the people mean they were gassed?
Nazi’s are not nice people. But I was perplexed why Nazi’s would not treat me like how they are portrayed or shown in movies. They should have considered me far lower than even the respect they showed the soviets. That alone made me question the narrative about them. Nazi’s are nothing like the ISIS, they do have a code of honor and acceptable behavior. Just like how not knowing Americans one would think of them all as john wanes just shooting natives and stealing their horses. Remember, John wayne said killing indians was the right thing to do. They were hording the land and its resources like the Russians are doing now. So should I treat Americans with the contempt I have for mr.wayne?
Even the guides were not very convincing when they explained the Nazi’s at the camp as if the themselves never believed the stuff they were telling the tourists.

LOL!!! Not sure if this was meant to be comedy or whether the poster is utterly clueless. Meanwhile back at ZH:
Game Over Japan: Real Wages Crash Most In 21st Century, Savings Rate Turns Negative
“When about a month ago it was revealed that Japan’s shadow economic advisor is none other than Paul Krugman, we said it was only a matter of time before the Japanese economy implodes. Terminally. We didn’t have long to wait and last night the barrage of Japanese economic data pretty much assured Japan’s transition into failed Keynesian state status.”
http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-12-26/game-over-japan-real-wages-crash-most-21st-century-savings-rate-turns-negative
What the Empire is trying to do with Japan is a major part of their warfare against both Russia and China.
By driving down the value of the yen as well as the value of Japanese wages, they are attempting to sabotage the Chinese export juggernaut. Just as they are trying to pitch Europe against Russia, they are also trying to pitch Japan against China. Both in economic and military terms. Abe is an American stooge through and through. Just notice how the Western press praises him the whole time. That is all you need to know really.
Up to now, the Japanese experiment doesn’t seem to be working too well. But I can assure you that they will keep trying and trying.
At some stage, something’s gotta give.
Trying to root out the fifth column in Russia is an almost impossible task, since a foreign fifth column had entrenched itself there like a parasitic infestation since the 18th century, and Putin is certainly aware that trying too hard to eradicate these pesky operators from positions of influence could kill the host if he is not patient and careful. The same fifth column in the West that created the CIA also created the KGB and the controlled opposition called the Soviet Union, and this fifth column is just not going away. Allen Dulles was still running the CIA after he was officially fired from running the CIA, so these pesky grise eminences are very difficult if not impossible to get rid of, but Russia is a big country and the Bear should just quietly eat the honey and pick the berries for as long as possible and not do anything premature that could give the warmongers who planned WW I and WW II their hat trick. They really want it.
Yes I could read the transcripts.
But I won’t, because the time length is prohibitive.
But I see I’m in the minority so will skip the more lengthy writings and podcasts.
Fine podcast covering much ground and many a varied topic. I viewed the youtube version as was very taken with the images of Russia, a very beautiful landscape to my Canadian eyes, with very impressive architecture and massive sculpture art works. The long suffering Russian people deserve to finally reap some reward and benefit from the resources they live adjacent to. I believe the memo against this from the western plutocrats that which Mr. Putin decided to in some degree ignore, has caused all the recent tensions among the western elites and the Russian nationalist oligarchs. Russia and Mr. Putin must be aware that the west will press it’s case on as many fronts simultaneously as they can, even as western rule declines physically, morally and spiritually.
Russia needs to be careful with the Chinese plutocrats as I believe they are at some level in full cooperation with the western elites and are only seeking an equal share of the wealth and power within the one world banking and power structures the west has erected, such as the IMF,BIS, WTO and such.
I wish the Russian Federation and the good people of Russia every success in the new year and the future as perhaps their example will return sanity and reform to the west. And all the best to the host of this extremely informative blog, thank you.

With regard to the theft of planes and patents, I had the opportunity to meet a personal testimony of the husband of a colleague, an engineer, who traveled to China to sell a project, was copied the planes ( he did not know how ), and then presented the innovation as themselves…..

Your post exemplifies well the problem with zerohedge “economics”: real wages falling and the fall in the savings rate are the main objectives of the policies being implemented in Japan. The Japanese economy for the past 20+ years is in a state of deflation. When this happens people (and companies) tend to sit on their cash and do nothing because falling prices (that’s deflation) means their the money they are sitting over is going to buy more things tomorrow. The problem is that when everyone does this the economy does not grow and you get more deflation so the problem do not goes away. So what is happening now is a good thing for Japan. Krugman knows what’s he is talking about. The guy at zerohedge does not.
To Stavros H:
I agree that Krugman’s column on Putin is a bit misguided because loosing Sevastopol completely would entail very large costs also. But actually makes a very important point that some people miss when they praise the Russian mastery of what’s going on. What is happening in Ukraine is a very big blow in Russia’s face, Crimea is going to cost a lot of money and if the Russians were playing this right they would never have found themselves in this position. The fact that they reacted well avoiding the loss of Sevastopol does not make them winners. If they were strong they would have prevented this mess happening right in their backyard (front?). All the other points he made on the state of the Russian economy are spot on. All is not lost for Russia, of course, but to hear some commentators you would think that Russia is in the best possible situation… Which is simply not true. Russia is ending 2014 with a net loss.
I love that
