I don’t have the time to translate this (need sleep) but the core message is simple: the media is asked not to report about this, not even on their Internet sites and is reminded that the dissemination of false information is a criminal offense.

The emails themselves have only revealed middling scandals so far — purchasing illegal drugs by some party operatives, for example. But the timing has incited a vast amount of anger from Le Pen opponents. They think the blackout must be maintained and have filled Twitter and 4chan with disinformation, trying to flood out the news with noise and discredit the leak. As we Americans know, this will make the news of the leak spiral out of control and spread throughout the country.
It is not clear who leaked these files, but whoever did it with an extremely good sense of timing that demonstrates close familiarity with French culture.

Second, it’s clearly too short to give any chance to MLP to be elected on sunday. Not sure it could be. FN is more demonized than Trump ever could be.
As I say below, I suspect the plan is to inflict a devastating blow to Macron’s presidency (and oc the media supporting him). Not only will this impact and weaken his ability to have a majority of MP (election following just after that), it will also have him as a corrupt liar supported by the media for everyone to see, impossible to prosecute (hence to clear) as long as he is President. 5 years of this icon doing his kind of economics and people will be crazy. He may very well start close to Hollands favorability rating, ie in a very, very cold place.
Ah, and I forgot:
I would have thought this to be a possible subtle psy op against russia but I rule this out for two reasons:
1) the tax evasion bit. Even if proven to be false, that’s a stain that will never totally wash off…
2) a few days ago in the high audience political debate, MLP, all smile asked in what was then as a hight point of the debate “I hope we won’t learn in the next days that you’ve been doing tax evasion”. So specific, so much joy in her look. We were all expecting something.

If we thought the media coverage in the US election was pro-Clinton (and it was). What we see in France today, is a media coverage for Macron that rivals the Italian press ,German press ,or Soviet press in 1939,in support for their leadership. I’d say any possibility of the press being a “guardian” of democracy in France is dead. I doubt even Vichy’s Marshal Petion could have asked for a more supportive press during his time in power. Let no French media outlet even dare to complain about the Russian press. Those press members doing so should be rebuked by a slap to the face.They have lost any respect they may have had in the past.There are no more Zoia’s in today’s France ,with the honor enough to print a headline against the state like “J’Accuse”. I usually distrust my government by principle.
Still for once I have to admit the french state is right to block this as much as they can (in the internet era: not a lot).
First, because it’s the law. The law states that publishing incriminating content on a too short notice to allow for the accused candidate to provide an answer is forbidden. It’s clearly the case here. A law is a law because it applies like a trigger. May be good or bad but even bad the benefit of a neutral trigger is too important to be trifled with. BTW this is the kind of argument Trump or Putin typically endorse.
Second, it’s a rather good law. Sure it’s bad to elect a corrupt man but the alternative is to give all the control to the one who has the leak over the vote. For instance make the leak just prior to 1st phase. Macron let his ticket for 2nd phase to Fillon (Right) or Melenchon (Left). You see that just with timing you can “pick” your winner, completely directing popular choice where you want it.
Now TBH we’re in a situation where the democratic process look in a terrible shape no matter what .
My bet is that this leaks is rather aimed at neutering MPs election for Macron’s party and making his attempt at reforming a hell from day one, meeting an overwhelming rage from the population. But the best part of the trap maybe to precisely leave France with a clearly corrupt president elected without a real consent from the voters. Because that president will be impossible to prosecute, which also means impossible to clear. He will be an agitated knife in an open wound, running an unbearable economic policy and agitated in French voter’s face. It looks like a very efficient seed from FN to prepare 2022.
